See you tomorrow!
Thanks pm3! See you all tonight/in the morning!
See you tomorrow, @Viva!
See you later ladies!! 5.5 hours to go!!!
Sorry make that 6.5 hours to go! Getting too excited over here. LOL
Here I go in Pacific time, starting before the watch party. I doubt I’ll get far into Episode 11, because I have to go pick up my daughter from the airport. Her flight is scheduled to arrive at 11:59pm. Good thing I’m a night owl. And too bad I’ve been busy all day preparing for her visit.
I like how HaRi is forthright with Chairman Kang. I don’t like how he cuts her off, not wanting to hear anymore. He’s too relieved that (he thinks) their relationship is a sham. He does understand that a relationship between a CEO and an employee will lead to misunderstandings and rumors.
Hooray for TaeMoo! That’s how a boyfriend should step up and speak out for his girlfriend. And I like that he did it without being disrespectful to his grandfather despite their having a difference of opinion.
Often when a relationship exists amid secrecy and deceit, the most painful part of the truth coming out is becoming aware of having been manipulated. Grandfather is normal in feeling hurt by TaeMoo and Sung Hoon.
If this were an older Kdrama, I suspect the revelation of the relationship would have been accompanied by a face slap: with a hand, kimchee, pork tonkatsu, whatever.
TaeMoo saying that he won’t have children with any other woman but HaRi isn’t his way of blackmailing his grandfather, it is his honest wish. He loves HaRi in a way he doesn’t think he can replicate with anyone else, because she’s so unique.
HaRi is aware that rain bothers TaeMoo even when he’s not driving. That must be a rough problem to live with in South Korea, since the country gets its fair share of rain. Seoul has an average of 108.8 days with precipitation per year.
Chairman Kang may have a temper and be angry with HaRi, but I think he’s touched she returned to comfort TaeMoo. That’s why he walks away without saying anything.
TaeMoo’s trauma comes from witnessing his parents’ death from a car accident in rainy weather. That he himself had just been hurt in a car accident, and can talk to HaRi about memories of his parents while standing by a rain-splattered window, is testament to how much comfort HaRi brings him.
I love how this couple not only are honest with each other, and listen to each other, but also openly express gratitude.
I’ve watched enough Kdramas to realize that the South Korean culture views responsibility differently than my culture. Still, I’m going voice my opinion again. Unless someone physically interferes with the driver, the responsibility for the operation of a motor vehicle first and foremost lies with the person behind the wheel (or holding the handlebars). It is the driver’s task to stay focused, drive defensively, respect road and weather conditions, etc.
Another thing I want to say that I’ve said before in other threads: a rollover accident is not necessarily a fatal accident. I often drive on mountain roads and have to be aware of conditions such as rain, snow, ice, and fog. I belong to several websites that report on the mountain roads. At least once a week there’ll be a post about a rollover accident because someone overestimated their driving skill. Most often, the driver and passengers climb out of the overturned car themselves and stand around sheepishly when emergency responders arrive.
LOL @Welmaris. You had me at ‘sheepishly’!!!
Okay… sorry folks, my family has something on suddenly and so I won’t join you at the party time, but here are a couple of thoughts.
Ha Ri is consistent in her care for TM, as well as in caring for herself. She does not sacrifice one for the other.
I like that she does not let Grandpa’s disapproval keep her away from the hospital. Love trumps over grumpy gramps!
I’m so chuffed that TM comes out to defend Ha Ri to Grandpa and he has eyes only for her. Even Grandpa notices (probably strengthened his resolve to separate them).
TM does not hesitate to stop HR from leaving, especially when she takes a deferential leave as an employee,… calling TM ‘President’ rather than Tae Moo-shi. IE she’s showing that she respects Grandpa’s wishes that she should stay away as ‘girlfriend’. However all the more that galvanises TM to go up to her and treat her like his girl by announcing clearly that they are not in a fake relationship, and sliding his hand down so that he holds hers. To show he is serious he adds that he loves Ha Ri. *swoony swoon swoon*
TM continues to negotiate with Grandpa… he will end his r/p with HR, but then expect no grandchildren (or blind dates) from him. I agree with Welmaris that this was not a threat but a statement of the circumstances. Unfortunately Grandpa wants to interpret matters in his own way, because he’s hurt that he’s been lied to by 3 young people he’d trusted.
I always like how TM is so clear about his feelings and in his intentions : “I don’t think I’ll meet another woman that I’ll love as much as Ha Ri.” *more swooning*
HR returns to TM in the rain … She comes back looking very wet and tells Grandpa and Sung Hoon that it’s raining and she was worried about TM.
TM hopes (teases) that she came back because she missed him. She looks down with a smile. She says: “Yes, you’re right.” LOL. That’s sweet of her. She does not want him to feel pathetic because his gf thinks he can’t manage on his own on a rainy day.
However what’s so great about this couple is that they don’t have to say some things and yet interpret the situation accurately (so unlike a certain Young Seo!!!) so actually TM knows that HR returned to keep him company on a rainy night.
The conversation about TM’s pain and self-blame and the way HR listens quietly to let him finish before giving him the right words of consolation, is so comforting to watch. Even I feel a little healed.
I contrast this later with her volatile mother who won’t even let poor TM speak in answer to her rapid fire questions, before she starts hitting him.
I commend both AHS and KSJ for the tearful sharing. AHS’ single tear that ran slowly down his face as he spoke of not being able to see his parents’ faces in his dreams and KSJ’s answering tears, touched me so much too. It was just right, not overdone… so genuine. The two actors touched each other and responded to each other’s portrayal of the sad sentiment.
I like that HR brought home her point when she likened TM’s self-blame over his parents’ accident, with how he should blame her for his accident, since he’d been in a hurry to see her after hearing that Grandpa had summoned her.
Her comforting hug and assurances as to his parents desire for his happiness and to let go of the past is the start of his healing. She’ll probably have to keep repeating that from time to time, maybe every rainy day.
When the Yoo Ra/Min Woo explosion of hate comments issue crops up, there’s no one except YS to protect HR. For once she steps up as a friend to help where she can, although (yes again) she also makes it about herself.
Grandpa claims to want to separate HR from TM to protect her, but he’s being disingenious, because his real aim is to just ultimately get rid of her for good, and for the sake of the company and TM’s position. He shows his hand when he admits that he wants her to resign.
TM however chooses to protect her by marrying HR. And we get the parallel with Gye Bin and TL Yeo.
In one of the earlier kdramas I watched (My Girl), there was also a grandpa who’d been lied to (he thought the girl was his lost grandchild) and he got the girl to leave. She was not quite as competent, and she did respect the old man, so she left though her heart was breaking, etc. with some melodrama.
Here, I like that Ha Ri is very clear that she’s competent (and not at fault) and that she dares to stand up for herself.
Personally, I don’t see what difference it makes whether the couple are located near or far from each other, since the whole company knows about them anyway. Any fallout in terms of gossip/hate comments will still be the employee’s ie HR’s to bear, whether TM is present next to her or not.
So this rather weakens Grandpa’s argument.
Poor TM is relieved that at least he does not have to lie to Grandpa anymore but then he’s got to face HR’s parents.
The only way to stop lying by omission, is to call them dad and mum, thus hinting that their relationship is not as portrayed by him previously. He has effectively admitted that there was a lie and HR’s parents won’t remain still to wait for him to introduce himself properly another time.
I roll my eyes at HR’s mother who won’t be quiet to let TM explain and who starts with the physical violence in next to no time. She is not still until she hears that TM is the President of the company and a likely chaebol son-in-law. That woman!!!
Poor TM does not even have his phone with him (taken away by Grandpa who didn’t want him to be apprised of goings-on in the company) and Ha Min starts off on the right foot with his brother-in-law by lending him his mobile phone.
It occurred to me that the Show began with TM being a workaholic, but we’ve hardly seen him work in the last 10 episodes LOL.
Ahh right @GB, no worries. π
Yes TM is busy dealing with HR most of the time. π Chased her to sign the contract, angry at her deception, propose to date her, date her, dealing with grandfather…
Most of the time we see him work is when he is in his business trips.
And so we have our couple finally meeting at the base of the Christmas Tree, Namsan Tower. Perhaps that’s symbolic of them giving themselves to each other (as gifts under the tree), amidst the storm of disapproval and misunderstanding, while hopeful of a good and peaceful future. Well we know that they went for it literally as well. π
That’s it for now! Have a great party!!
π π₯³ π π π π° π₯
You have 1.5 hours to go!!!
Thanks @GB and @Welmaris for the great comments. βΊοΈ
Iβll be here on the dot, @Viva.
Just very busy and still busy. π
Iβm here getting ready for our rewatch. π
Morning pm3! π
Present! ππ»ββοΈ
Good evening, @agdr03 and @Viva! I see that @Welmaris and @GB left some notes while I was sleeping. That’s great! π
Just say when, @Viva!
Hi agdr03! π Up to date with WRTW?
OK pm3, let’s start! Exciting!
“Who Rules the World” is now on Netflix. It’s been subbed till Ep 12. Thanks, @Viva, I’ve been keeping an eye out for it.
Okey-dokey, @Viva!
@Viva, Always with WRTW π
Iβll comment there later. Iβm all for HaTae now. π₯°
For what itβs worth, I totally understand where grandpa is coming from. He did wait and asked Taemoo about his girlfriend but he didnβt get to tell him because he was waiting for Hari to be ready.
Iβd be questioning it too especially if the start was a fake relationship.
@Welmaris, I guess you’ve picked up your daughter already from the airport. Have a good night’s rest!
Yes, I like that Hari was straightforward with Chairman Kang. I wished she had done it BEFORE she was summoned. She had no choice now.
As for Chairman Kang, I wondered if he was self-aware and knew how much like the chaebol in the soap operas he was acting at the moment.
It’s so good that it is on Netflix. It makes it easier for rewatch and for jotting down lines! I really like WRTW, the only drama I am up to date at the moment. I miss WuXia drama and haven’t watched it C Drama…probably more than 10 years? This doesn’t disappoint. I did see some negative articles complaining about the acting and the make up etc pushed by Google, but I customised it so I don’t need to read from that media outlet anymore. At the end of the day, it is entertaining for me and that’s what matters.
OK back to BP. That certainly wasn’t a good start for HR. She doesn’t even have time to explain her full story. Agree @Welmaris. I love the moment when TM came out. Look at how firm TM’s eyes are. His reassuring smile to HR. I think pm3 pointed out before. I like to see a person stand up for his other half. He also stood up for his secretary.
All the ticks for TM.
True we never saw TM’s car got scratched.
True, @agdr03. He did ask Taemoo for honesty. But it also didn’t help that he kept pushing Taemoo.
At least, though, he didn’t bring up the class divide. He was more upset about the “scandal” itself (“I don’t want anybody to see anything that could be misinterpreted”) and the effects of the scandal on the company.
haha yes we never saw any slapping of Tonkatsu. It is refreshing that way. Love it the way that HR rushed back to see TM. There is no fear of the grandfather. All she cares about is TM. The urge to be with TM is so earnest.
Where is her yellow umbrella?
Wow! That look of Taemoo to Hari is deep. Itβs the look that says Iβm ready and Iβll face whatever happens with it.
When he followed to stop her, looked at her held her hand and told Grandpa that he loves Hari. Iβm like βyou winβ. β€οΈ
True, @GB. Hari didn’t let herself be intimidated by Grandpa’s disapproval.
When she called him, “Grandfather,” and he replied, “I don’t want you calling me that,” I cringed, though. I think she shouldn’t have called him that.
Yes that look. AHS did a good job. Appreciating it here.
Hahaha, @agdr03.
I was thinking, “ooooookay, you passed the first test, TAemoo!”
I felt the same, Hari shouldnβt have called him Grandpa until she got his blessing. She was just a tiny bit hopeful there. π
When Taemoo came out to the lobby just when his grandfather was blaming her for the accident, his grandfather immediately dropped his “chaebol” demeanor and became like an ordinary grandpa worried about his grandson. I like that. That was a good sign.
I like that look between Taemoo and Hari. He understood that Hari was given the third degree by his grandpa, and that she must have had a hard time because he wasn’t there to defend her.
You know me. Iβm easy π
Seriously though I think rewatching this scenes in the hospital made me want Taemooβs hair to be combed to the side. I just want to sweep it now. π
Yes, Grandpa was really worried about Taemoo.
I like the conversation too about the grandkids. For Taemoo it was a wish that heβd be happy to make come true for Grandpa. But heβs upset so we have to give him time.
True though, he is acting like the soap grandpa. π
Grandpa: You got into a fake relationship because you didn’t want to go on blind dates? How could you tell an absurd lie like that?
Taemoo and Hari looked at each other. He knew that Hari was giving him an out. It was up to him to deny or reject the idea that it was not a “fake” relationship. Hari was willing to be the fall guy in this.
Hari: I’ll be on my way now, President Kang.
Taemoo: (chasing after her) Grandpa, we’re not in a fake relationship.
I wished the director showed us Hari clutching at Taemoo here to stop him. But he definitely looked down first because he felt her tugged him and then he looked at her.
That small smile he gave her was a swoon-worthy moment. I know that Ahn Hyo Seop had detractors but ha! if they were honest with themselves, I’d say that they fell for that moment, too.
Then, he held her hand. Small gestures = Big message
Taemoo: I love Shin Hari.
And he gave his archaeopteryx stare.
@Agdr03, she was pushing her luck when she called him informally “Grandpa.” But then, it might have been a slip of the tongue. She always thought of him as Taemoo’s Grandpa.
Ahh KSJ’s face here. She was so touched when TM thanked her for coming back. I love this couple. TM is good at expressing thanks and love to her.
It probably takes a lot of courage for TM to say this out. TM’s guilt, thinking he caused it.
@GB Agree AHS and KSJ crying are pretty good.
TM loves HR, so he understand, when you love someone, you won’t resent them. I think TM may not understand that before, not until he experiences love.
That was well done. I felt more sentimental during this re watch.
Ah but Haraboji didnβt stop Hari in seeing Taemoo when she came back because it was raining. Grandpa must have felt her concern for Taemoo as well.
I don’t know if I want the side part or the bangs on Taemoo. The bangs made him look younger, though.
But if you notice, in Ep 12, when he came back from the US, his side part hairdo came back. π
Yes, as much as sheβs still respecting him in calling him grandpa even informally, it should have been Chairman Kang especially after their talk just before. π¬
Yes when grandpa doesn’t stop her. I thought he is the grandpa I thought I know know. That he will accept the girl TM loves.
Yes, I’m glad @Welmaris that there was no kimchee, pork tonkatsu, water, or the regular hand slap here. I think the grandpa just did a verbal slap — when he told her not to call him “Grandpa.”
Actually, it was Hari’s mom who did all the slapping in this episode.
And that was annoying.
Whoβs AHSβs detractors? π€π€£
Iβll second that, that little smile, holding her hand is definitely swoon worthy. π
The archaeopteryxβs stare was a bonus, heβs ready to fight. π
Maybe the bangs just looks a bit long to me. I like his hair on the side too.
I think I prefer it on the side during the day and when heβs at home with Hari, the bangs can go down. π
It may sound like an emotional blackmail, @Welmaris.
Grandpa: YOu must end it now.
Taemoo: That’s fine. But don’t expect to ever have any great-grandkids.
There. Taemoo was holding the future great-grandkids hostage.
Grandpa: What? What do you…
Taemoo: I don’t think that I’ll ever meet a woman I love as much as Hari. So do you as you please if you want me to devote myself only to work and never get married.
So fine, the grandpa could derail the relationship and Taemoo would abide by his grandpa’s decision. But Grandpa would be hurt, too, when he saw Taemoo’s miserable and lonely life.
Grandpa: Are you threatening me right now?
Taemoo: Grandpa, that’s not what I —
Grandpa: What if I say, “Over my dead body”?
Taemoo: YOu liked her when you met her as Geumhui.
And that’s when we find out that Grandpa was simply hurt by the lying that Taemoo and Hari did. He wasn’t opposed to the relationship itself, just how the relationship came to be.
Yes @GB YS was good to protect HR. But soon after that she has to say I love you in front of the cousin. It is not funny for me. The cousin is so good. She does add a lot of humour in the show. I love her mix of English and Korean. If I see her I always remember her line of “I have no chin gu!”
This couple made me teary eyed. π’
Thatβs how you heal someoneβs pain, by listening to them, making them see the other side, giving them comfort and making sure that they know that your there for them. Those tears were naturally falling and it really felt real.
lol. @Welmaris. I also thought returning to the hospital merely because she was worried about Taemoo’s reaction to the rain was over-the-top. How did he survive all the rainy days in Seoul before?
But I gave the writer a pass here.
Hari: I’m sorry. It’s raining outside, so I was worried about Taemoo.
Grandpa: (just walking away)
Even Taemoo wondered why she came back.
Taemoo: Don’t turn on the lights.
Hari: What are you doing over there?
Taemoo: I was looking out the window. But why did you come back? Surely…because you missed me?
I thought Taemoo knew that she was overreacting and was overanxious about his phobia (since she just found out about it) so he made light of it.
Even during their restaurant date earlier, he could look outside and watch the rain. It was Hari who decided that the view of the rain should be blocked.
yes @agddr03. It’s good to see that TM is OK to express his deepest fear. HR solved his fear for him. I felt because TM know what it is like to love someone now. He would understand his parents who love him very much would never resent him. They look like they are really moved by each other. Especially HR face have that genuine concern. TM’s eyes are all red.
AHS’ detractors?
He had a lot because of his acting. He has another kdrama coming up. Let’s see if his antis will show up for that one. π
I think for Business Proposal, Kim Sejeong’s fans and personal charm “shielded” him from his antis. They gave him a chance to breathe until his character and performance stabilized. You must admit that in the first episode, Taemoo looked stiff and out of place beside Hari’s bubbliness. It would be hard for AHS’ critics to see the difference between the actor’s persona and the character’s personality. That is, Taemoo was supposed to look stiff but the critics thought it was AHS who looked stiff.
I love HR’s team stood up for her. Mr Gye is doing the TM hair swipeπ with the archaeopteryx sound effect. HR team makes this drama so much better. They add lots of funny and heart warming moments. An dream team to be in, really.
I agree @Viva, AHS and KSJ really did great in this scene. They looked the part of a couple going through a sensitive issue and the tears that flowed was a sign of genuine concern and love for each other.
I like that Taemoo teased Hari about coming back because she missed him. As usual, he teases her NOT by self-effacement, but by self-aggrandizement, e.g., you find me so irresistible that you can’t stay away from me.
Previously, Hari would think that he was too full of himself. But now she understands that he’s just mocking himself, too.
Iβm not one of them but Iβve only seen him in Lovers Of The Red Sky and I wasnβt really moved by him then. But here he made Taemoo real to me.
Iβm not following him before too so I wasnβt really aware that he had a lot of detractors. π¬
I think though that because of the popularity of the drama, heβs overcome them. Thatβs most likely why he is very grateful too. βΊοΈ
Hi @Viva, I’m back!!!
Yes, I think I got more sentimental during the rewatch LOL.
I like the I Have No Chingu actress too. π Everyone will remember her because of this line. She made me laugh alright. π
Here he goes again talking about his happy Christmas memories. This reminds me of the time they were at the indoors theme park, and he shared a memory of eating hot dogs with his parents.
He said that he liked that he was able to share childhood memories with Hari, and not made to feel sorry that he was an orphan. Others would have listened to him, and immediately deem him to be a pitiful person. As a result, he didn’t feel like bringing up his memories of his parents in a normal way in a conversation.
And that’s kinda sad. Because it would seem like he lost his parents TWICE over. He first lost them when they died. Then he lost them again when he couldn’t share his memories of them with anyone.
I think AHS acting has improved a lot! I went back to watch Abyss and he was so much better in The Lovers of the Red Sky and BP. Sometimes I felt people who are good looking are stereotyped a bit by their critics. May be people like to stick with their first impressions? Assuming good looking people acting can’t improve?
There could be a lot of comparison with his new project given the TW’s Some Day One day is so popular. People all have all sorts of different expectations.
@agdr03, I don’t know whether to feel sorry for the No Chingu cousin or to roll my eyes at her for being an entitled brat. Of course she was spoilt rotten by Mamma. I understand that the manhwa made her a troublesom b*tch. She caused problems for the 2nd L Couple. In this show she’s very toned down and quite pitiful.
Hello!!!! @GB! Lovely to have you back!
Iβm definitely watching Some Day One Day remake because I watched it and I liked it. Hopefully AHS will show another side of him there. βΊοΈ
@Viva, you all look like you’re watching in slo-mo or have paused a lot in between. Where are you at?
You know TM’s wrist is so sore that he needs SH to help him dressed. We shall see his miraculous recover soon. π
@agdr03 A Korean remake of Someday or One Day? Yes, I think they’ll do a better job somehow. I hope they leave out the weird ‘gay’ bit.
LOL @Viva, yes. That miraculous recovery … he could drive without a twinge of pain. Sheesh.
@GB I am currently at SH dressing TM. I paused when reading the comments. Better get on to it. haha.
@agdr03, during the scene when Taemoo revealed the truth about his parents’ death and the burden he carried after that, I thought it was Kim Sejeong — not Hari — who got teary-eyed.
I feel kinda sorry for Kim Sejeong in this drama. I think she was PERSONALLY invested in the drama, in her role. She totally immersed herself in her character, Hari.
Remember when she got teary-eyed too during the bridge scene kiss? She said that came out of nowhere. But to me, that was a sign that she was moved by the filming of that scene. It wasn’t “acting” and “pretending” for her anymore. But “feeling” and actually being in the moment.
I wonder if she’ll be okay afterwards.
@pkml3, I too had the impression that KSJ was really touched by those scenes. The tears flowed so readily. I cried along with her.
Hopefully with KSJ filming another project at the moment, she can move on and move out of the character. Yes I also felt her face is so genuine.
It’s always hard to imagine how it is like to be an actor.
I notice that we are not bothering with the 2nd L couple LOL. I can probably FFD their scenes.
I agree about KSJβs total immersion in the drama. She really took her character to heart.
Yup, Iβll never forget that bridge kiss scene bts. βΊοΈ
Hopefully sheβll be able to let go of Hari-shi. Though she commented on AHSβs post of his Calvin Klein add. She said, no Taemoo-shi. π
@GB, I must have been either concentrating on the main leads and the friendship to not remember about the βgayβ bit. I seriously canβt remember it. π¬
You might have to refresh my memory through the other chat. π
Glad you’re back, @GB.
I’m doing a sloooow-watch as usual. I’m just at this “healing moment” when they’re talking about his parents’ death, and his guilt.
You know me. I’m really a slow typist.
It’s faster when I dictate things.
I think that Kim SeJeong was REALLY in the moment herself. She was truly Hari here.
Plus, I don’t think those puffy bags under her eyes were just due to make-up. She must have cried several times during the retakes of this scene. This scene had to be re-shot from many angles.
Hari: Do you know how bright your smile was when you were talking about your parents just now? I could tell by looking at that face how much your parents loved you when you were growing up. They loved you so much. Do you really think they resent you?
And then, she shifted the mood.
Hari: Darn it. I’m scared now that I’ve heard your story. Do you secretly think your accident was because of me and resent me for it?
Taemoo: Never. How could you think that?
She meant that if Taemoo thought that the parents crashed because of him, i.e., because they were rushing to meet him, then he crashed because of her because he too was rushing to meet her.
I know this scene is a trope — guy gets healing from the girl/girl helps guy achieve closure — but I still think it was done well in this kdrama.
Yes @GB I use their time to write comment. And if there is still time left, I FF.π
@agdr03 and that ad hoc kiss in ep 10. That was the best kiss I saw for a while. I am not good at telling the difference between good acting or real emotions. Or are good acting real emotions a character would react with a given situation? Are they really in love at the time, but just for when the camera is on? I felt very moved at the time and thought it was very beautifully done.
I saw that too on Instagram! It would be what HR would say!
When Hari woke up by Taemoo’s bed — she heard birds chirping outside the window??
But it was cute how she tucked in her hair when she bent down to kiss him. That was a good touch by Kim SeJeong. She couldn’t let her hair cover up the peck.
I didnβt read all the mahwa @GB but Iβm glad they toned her down. Iβm glad in the end she was still able to talk to cousin Yeongso even after wanting her bf. She really was a brat. π
Love it when HR pushed back on the Chairman by listing her achievements! She is indeed a competent employee.
@pkml3 Yup, I said something similar upthread. She gave that analogy about her being to blame to prove the point that he should not feel that he’s to blame.
I hope that KSJ has learnt to distance herself from her characters or she’ll be an emotional wreck one show after another.
I feel sorry for the “I have no chingu” actress.
I would love to see her as a leading lady of a handsome hero to give HOPE!! to all the plain looking ladies out there.
But you know how it is in kdramas. She’ll always be an “extra” precisely because of her looks. Sigh.
Yes the rain date kiss was amazing. Itβs on top of my most sweetest kisses ever. π
I donβt know how actors/actresses does it too, acting those emotions especially being in love? Iβm amazed at what AHS and KSJ did there. They were brilliant. ππ»
Yes the K drama marketing world is not fair like that. That actress is good!
I’ll just pop out and in from time to time. I expect that you’ll be here for another couple of hours LOL.
I gotta do other stuff in between. See ya!
True, @Viva.
Ahn Hyo Seop’s critics will come out of the woodwork again because of this “Some Day, One Day” adaptation. I heard the guy there was well received by the audience.
π
I hope he does well.
This scene between Sec Cha dressing up Taemoo was awkward. I’m glad that the nurse didn’t see Taemoo taking out his dolls from the bag, though.
I remember watching a BTS of the bridge kiss scene. KSJ wanted to ensure the angle is right for the kiss scene and rotated AHS. AHS then have to NG. She is careful like that. Always ensure the best angle.
Who’s AHS’ leading lady in “Some Day, One Day”? Depends on his leading lady whether I’ll watch it or not. π
Maybe sheβll get to be a second FL or a bestie of the FL. Sigh.
@Viva,
it must be because of Kim SeJeong’s idol training. She knows where the cameras are, and how to work them.
Ahh @GB Christmas tree. Good that you point that out.
I noted that the hotel room has the same lights as the room when HR and TM met another time. Is that when they were talking about the contract? Need to go back to find that ep.
Is that the same lights for con Good Boy’s apartment from Start Up too?
@agdr, only after reading that article from the Hollywood Reporter I realise why they slot a bed scene here. The idea was TM was desperately looking for HR.
Yes, @agdr03. She’ll never become a female lead. I’m glad that she got her moment in the sun in this drama.
The female lead in Vincenzo. Jeon Yeo Been. The second Male Lead is Hong DR from The Red Sleeve.
Itβs Jeon Yeobin from Vincenzo.
The Hari doll does look like Hari, when I look at it again.
I thought it was cute that Taemoo called her up from the phone booth (do they still exist?) to remind her to call her boyfriend up. Demanding puppy!
Yes the doll resembles Hari now when I see it. π₯° Interesting comment about the phone booth. Where are they in my area? π€
Doesnβt he look like a cute demanding puppy though? Their wearing same colour jumper too. π
Taemoo: I called you to remind you of something important. Can you guess what it is?
Hari: What are you doing, Taemoo-ssi?
Taemoo: What do you think? I’m calling the girlfriend who’s been ignoring her injured boyfriend. I thought you would drop by after work.
Ha. This is cute in light of what he told his grandpa the night before. Didn’t he say that his grandpa could do as he pleased and he would just devote himself to work and never get married?
Well, his grandfather took away his phone, but he was still finding ways to get in touch with her.
@Viva, in the manwha, the honeymoon happened after the wedding. But Iβve only read the parts leading to the marriage. π
I get the boating scene really. Theyβve been dating for awhile right? And yes, they are adults. I can see the worry in Taemoo especially after finding her. I felt it was a mutual decision.
Iβm just happy that I got my requested scene. π€£
Hmmm…interesting, strong face.
Visually, he’s been paired with cutesy girls like Park Bo Young, Kim Yoo Jung, and Kim SeJeong. This Jeon Yeo Been has a different aura. But oh well.
anyway…
This is when I started feeling frustrated with the director. I was all hyped up for a big marriage proposal and then we were thrown a long-distance-relationship. BOOOOOO!
THE bed Scene
I felt that they are doing all the moves collected from all the K dramas. The wall kiss, the koala hug, the sitting on the table kiss. I was surprised to see how long it was because it is R15 in SBS.
KSJ/Hari turned again on the table kiss to ensure a clear angle.
Also it must be some what in AHS contract to show his back π I can see his ribs. Very skinny! And TM sweats a lot.
It could have been nice too if they go with comic version and give us a wedding. In the comic version TM even went to choose the wedding dress with HR. I thought that would be nice for us to see that. I personally love to look at wedding dress. Back then it was the most fun part of the wedding preparation. But it’s OK. They have to differentiate.
Also slightly extended to ep 12. I noted TM outfit in the morning was a white shirt and not the exact outfit he was wearing the night before. I gather they want TM to have a clean crisp morning look so I did mental gymnastics to let it pass.
My boy has his priorities right. Weβll heβs rearrange it now. π
Did Hari hear Taemoo say about getting married? There was a beep after he said it. I wasnβt sure whether she did.
I didn’t notice that they were wearing the same cream colored sweaters.
This phone call reminded me of “Reply 1988” when Park Bo Gum’s character Taec called up Deoksun from the phone both to ask her out to a movie date.
A phone booth is such an anachronism. I haven’t seen a phone booth is ages.
What boating scene? There’s a boating scene in the manhwa?
Hahaha all the bed scene moves. I like that π
I would have loved a pick the wedding dress and a grand proposal but yeah that was a bit disappointing.
Taemoo ordered a new shirt to be delivered just like he ordered clothes for Hari at the trip. π
Yeah I can’t tell too. I think she hasn’t? Her response doesn’t look like she heard it.
@pm3 Yeah will see. She looks older than him in my mind. May be the school uniform and hair style will help. Hopefully like Hee Doo and Ye Jin. I couldn’t tell Hee Do is actually older than him.
Ah yeah, thatβs when Taec got in line first and he followed through. βΊοΈ
I know phone booths from Superman too. π
Iβll have to find a phone booth now. π Itβll be interesting to know where they are now.
I don’t even get why he had to be hospitalized for days because of a sprained wrist!
I had c-sections, and I only stayed in the hospital for the minimum number of days. Two. I wanted out of there. Hospitals depress me. Plus I couldn’t sleep with the noise and the nurses, doctors, and lactation counselors coming in and out. Just give me the baby, and the painkiller and I can recuperate at home.
Same here, @GB. I’m just skipping through the 2nd leading couple. π He’s cute. She’s cute. Whatever.
Sorry, isnβt boating scene another term for bed scene in kdramas? Maybe Iβm wrong? π¬π
If it is, there is in the manhwa. Itβs their honeymoon. π
Ahh good explanation. π I read in KSJ interview they discussed it and apparently they didn’t want the same proposal TM tried earlier. (Remember that one with the flowers and the quartet?) The idea was that TM and HR will get marry, and it is just something naturally that would happen.
I will let it pass since I am fond the earlier 11 episodes.
Is that right? I only know Ramen.π Next time I will watch out.
What? What post on Calvin Klein? Don’t tell me AHS had to bare his chest? Hahaha. To me, he needed to be a bit beefier to be a veritable hunk. I don’t like to see them ribcages.
But yeahhhh, I can imagine KSJ checking AHS’ social media and commenting “no Taemoo-ssi!”
I donβt understand too. Maybe his home set wasnβt set up for scenes. π
2 days with c-section? You superwoman. π±
I am off to bed now. Lovely to be able to watch live with you!
Thanks @pm3 @agdr03 @GB and @Welamaris.π
Yes, KSJ said that about the last scene of the drama. They didnβt want it grand like the one Taemoo planned. They discussed it themselves.
But I thought the drama had Cinderella theme so I was expecting it to be a bit bigger. π
But the “I don’t have any chingu” girl and Yeonsoo were similar in many ways.
They’re both self-centered and bratty. The “I don’t have any chingu” cousin is just doing it comically.
Yeonsoo only has ONE friend, Hari.
They have the same taste in clothes.
They have the same taste in men.
Oh yeah, ramen. π
I love ramen but them ones donβt apply to me. π
@GB,
I think KSJ will learn to distance herself from her characters as time goes by. This is her first major drama (I’m not counting School 2017 because that was a high school romance) where she acted her natural age.
Some actresses and actors don’t know how to distance themselves and I think that’s the reason they fall in love with their costars.
Like Song Hye Kyo.
And Song Joong Ki.. π
Iβll send it to you so can see it. βΊοΈ
I agree about him having more beef.
Well said. π I thought the cousin was way funnier too.
Good night @Viva. Thank you as well. π
Iβll post more on WRTW tomorrow. βΊοΈ Itβs got 1billion views now. ππ»
Wait.
It’s Ahn Hyo Seop who has an overactive sweat glands. He sweats a lot. When he’s nervous, when it’s hot, when he’s just standing there, he just sweats. π
He was on Running Man and he got teased for that.
https://youtu.be/Cshcg9BzRvw
He did the same thing in “Lovers of the Red Sky.” The make-up artist must have a hard time trying to blot his sweat in between takes.
@agdr03, I don’t think Hari heard Taemoo’s offer to get married.
If she did, she would have brought it up the next meeting or worried about it the whole night. She’s the type….
I didnβt like his make up in LOTRS. He looked like he has it. π
Boooh, that video is not available in my country.
Jeon Yeo Been is older than AHS.
According to mydramalist, she’s 32 years old. AHS is 27 years old.
–Oh?! He just turned 27 (international age) last April 17. Belated happy birthday to him.
Heyyyy, avoid phone booths for now, @agdr03. Or if you have to use them, sanitize your hands afterwards.
I don’t like using ATMs nowadays. I wish I can figure out how to withdraw cash from the ATM by using the keypad on my iphone, instead of the keypad on the ATM machine. But I’m such a techie klutz.
Agree. Hari would have brought it up.
So Hari calls Grandpa and Taemoo calls her parents Eomioni and Abeonim. βΊοΈ
He had a great one he said. He had a lot of gifts and his cat was definitely there too. π₯°
I think it’s his first time on a variety show so his agency gave him tips like….
1. Laugh often. But the problem was AHS was caught laughing when the comment wasn’t even funny.
2. Sweat less.
Pwahahaha.
AHS: The agency told me to sweat less. (he was wiping his neck as he said this). Yes, I do sweat a lot by nature.
Jaesuk: Here’s my obserrvation. He’s sweating because he’s nervous. That’s why he’s exploding with sweat.
It’s in the intro scene of Running Man Ep 424 (the Halloween special?).
Donβt worry I wonβt go inside it. Iβm just curious as to where they are here.
Oh tell me about ATMs. I always sanitise my hands after using it and handling money.
Oh dear. π
Heβs not meant to be in variety shows. Iβll look it up and watch it.
Yes Iβm not sure how Jeon Yeobin will be like in the remake but I didnβt mind her in Vincenzo.
There goes another noona romance. π¬
Don’t you think that for somebody who supposedly was on the track team in college, Taemoo ran awkwardly? After he borrowed the phone of Hari’s brother, he ran to his car in search of Hari. I thought he looked goofy.
Yep. He looked funny especially his legs. π
I liked the bow though. βΊοΈ
Yes, Hari called his grandpa, harabeoji (or something).
But he calls her brother, brother-in-law, and her parents, eomioni and abeonim.
So definitely, she knew that marriage was the endgame, But she didn’t know that he asked her while they were speaking on the phone that night.
Yes. That bow was respectful.
Lol. I can’t imagine my son bowing 90 degrees to his future parents-in-law though. I’m glad that they’re not traditional, old-fashioned Koreans; they’ve been here in this country long enough.
This is a trope, too: girl goes missing and guy frantically searches for her.
But what I like about this drama’s version is that Hari realizes that he’s going to run UPHILL to meet her at the Namsan tower. (I’ve been there and it’s a hike to go up to the observation deck.) So, out of consideration, she goes down to meet him halfway.
I like that they meet each other halfway.
Do you officially have a sonβs fiancΓ©e now? βΊοΈ
Weβve been in the blog for years now but I havenβt heard you say you finally have a future daughter-in-law. βΊοΈ
Will your boys ever find out that your more Korean than their girlfriend? π
I think Viva’s right.
The chandelier in Taemoo’s condo looks strangely like the chandelier in “Start-Up.” The one in that Fake Good Boy’s condo.
Oh I didnβt know that about Namsan Tower. βΊοΈ Thatβs the beauty of this couple, they always adjust to each other. They always meet halfway.
Thatβs why Taemoo is sweating. π¬
Oh Iβd forgotten about fake good boys condo. π
What did you think of the last scene? Iβm not asking for an analysis, promise. π
The last scene?
I think Hari and Taemoo were being competitive. Remember the BTS scene when AHS was asked about the second leads’ make-out scene? And he pooh-poohed it saying they have something better.
(I didn’t imagine this, right?)
Well, AHS and Kim SeJeong went all out here. There’s no way that the second lead will beat them in the sexy department.
I’m not going to analyze this because I can’t think carnal thoughts right now.
Yes, AHS said theyβve got a last power move. This was it.
True, they went all out. KSJ said they discussed this together and the director as well. She said it didnβt feel that itβs not right, for Hari and Taemoo.
That was on her post interview.
The Namsan Tower is on a mountain. To get there, you can take the bus or cable car, or walk up. I don’t think cars are allowed to park up there.
Actually, the hilly terrain and the narrow streets are the reasons I wouldn’t want to live in Seoul. Sure, you’ll get exercise, but it’ll tiring to climb uphill after a long day at work, and I’ll dislike navigating through narrow streets.
Right?
And it works. From my American POV, I’ve seen couples in Hollywood movies go to bed for a lot more tenuous reason.
lol. KSJ didn’t have to explain. I get it.
They’ve been separated. He was worried about her. He was frantic that she left him and that he lost her. So this was her away of reassuring him that she was still there, and that she wasn’t going anywhere.
It’s a heckuva lot better than that drunken sex.
Okay, I’ve to go now, @agdr03. Thanks for the rewatch!!
Walking up would be a very good cardio exercise then. I just remembered when I walked up to Wine Glass Bay in Tasmania. It was steep and it took 45 minutes to reach. I was puffing and huffing when I reached the top. Eldest was there 10 minutes ahead. π
True, Iβm already complaining here when thereβs narrow streets and no parking for cars. π¬
You just beat me in saying bye. π
Thanks for the rewatch. ππ»ββοΈ
I wonder which drama will draw us for the next one. Have a good day!
Thanks to @GB π and @Welmaros too. π
See that? If I remember correctly, the Namsan Tower walk is less than 30 minutes. It’s a doable hike but if you’re Taemoo who’s in a hurry to see Hari again, then you’ll sprint ahead instead of walking at a leisurely pace.
Yes, when I’ve to do long uphill treks, I like to go with my sons because they push me from behind. They take turns pushing me like they’re the caboose. If I let my hubby pull me along, he’s going to dislocate my arms. lol.
I’m back after almost 24 hours. It was fun reading through all your comments, but I’m a bit surprised there weren’t more about the bedroom scene. After all, this blog is known for its excellent kiss analyses.
Yes, @Packmule3, I successfully collected my younger daughter from the airport and got safely home despite several sections of freeway being under construction. Here in SoCal the freeway construction crews start late at night and work through the early morning hours because that’s when traffic is lighter. One of the onramps I needed was closed, but I figured out an alternate route.
If, indeed, one of your sons is now engaged, @Packmule3, congratulations to all.
