Here I go again, waiting eagerly another drama to premiere.
This kdrama stars Jung Il Woo and Kwon Yuri. They were the leads in the sageuk, “Bossam.” This is a 16-episode romcom. Jung Il Woo plays a typical chaebol dude by day, then he moonlights as a detective after office hours. Kwon Yuri plays a nerdy girl with special abilities to help him with the cases. Judging from the trailers, she has super long-distance vision. I guess like an eagle’s vision. I’ll see how this goes.
It begins tomorrow, Aug 24.
Let’s enjoy the show.
@packmule3, Looking forward to this. It’s on Viki and I hope the subs are timely. This will be great distractions for me as I like the leads, especially Jung IL Woo, who In”discovered” in Cinderella and the Four Nights. He is not flashy lime his friend Lee Minho(must finished watching Pachinko, a masterpiece, where Minho is important( and stretches his acting repertoire ) but not the main event). I liked Bossam and learned about the treatment of widows in old Korea-sortof like how widows in other countries stopped living and wore black until they died. So super thanks for the heads up.
I also hope that you have more leisure for the important things in your life, including your health and your family. I know how important having the time for yourself and your loved ones is.
Thanks for the thread @pkml3. I’m still in half JOMO state, except for everything FD. I’ll see how I feel about picking up a new show. I liked JIW in 49 Days and Kwon Yu Ri in Gogh, The Starry Night.
Kalimera Ladies!
Thank you @Packmule3 for the thread!
I do hope you are okay @OAL!
Should I watch this? 🙄 It collides with “If You Wish Upon Me”. Both are on Viki…
How are you holding up, @OAL? Still praying for you and your family. There’ll be better days.
Yes, I liked Bossam because like you, I learned about the treatment of widows. I also liked Joseon Wedding Matchmakers (can’t remember the exact title) because I learned about the wedding traditions.
These dramas aren’t “hits” but I assume their screenwriters did their historical research. I can return to them and loosely use them as reference points. Lol. It is weird that much of what I know about Korean traditions, I gleaned from dramas! My future daughter-in-law will be amused.
Hi @packmule3, Am hanging in there. My husband is going through a particularly difficult chemo-a very virulent “cocktail” of meds that is very hard on him. The oncologist is amazed that his vitals are so good. I feel so bad for him but I’m making sure he eats and rests and is as comfortable as he can be.Every day that I have him is a good one.
I like your comment about learning from K Dramas. They are a great jumping off point for learning about another country and culture. The internet adds the needed detail as does BOD. It’s a great way to get educated.
I hope you and your future daughter-in-law have great fun with this.
I am watching this drama right now. So far it looks like a great romp with lots of capers. It’s light weight and fun. Jung IL Woo has comedy chops. And as in K Drama form we have great back stories. The FL is also fully realized. It is just what I need right now -a fun distraction.
I’m liking this show so far. It’s just what I was looking for—not too silly, not too dark. A fun caper.
Not only do we see the Bossam couple reunited, but Ba Woo’s sidekick in that series (played by Lee Jun-hyeok) is making an appearance here as an annoyed secretary. I think his new character shook his fist behind the ML’s back similar to how he did it in Bossam. If Shin Dong-mi shows up in a future episode we will know that they are truly providing fan service to that older show.
BTW according to Soompi, Bossam had historically high ratings for MBN for its finale so I’m not sure that means it wasn’t a hit-?
Oh! Is that why the annoyed Secretary looked familiar? I was trying to place him. I knew he wasn’t the obstetrician in “Hospital Playlist” but once I had the image in my head, I couldn’t get rid of it.
