Wedding is always exciting! I recalled that the mortal realm section was harder to get through. To me, ep 25 has finally packed more details to be excited about.
I recall that 25 and 26 were pretty intense in terms of emotions… and ending with lots of great evil action and saving each other.
It is interesting to see in this drama that they pick red and green to be the colours for their wedding gowns. I thought usually it is all red and gold.
Wow Xiao Ren is taller than DFQC! I thought Dylan tall. Xiao Ren is taller!
I think wedding garments always were red traditionally.

Yes, I liked how MS was quick to agree to just be mortals and just spend time with her waiting.
Yes, I watched more of Little Forest… now at Ep 13 I think. I guess it’s fun and light… but so far not much happening. There are a couple of ‘baddies’ who are around to cause trouble. And a very mild love triangle of sorts. Not sure if it can keep up the interest level but it’s sweet to look at and Zhang Bin Bin is very nice to look at. 😆
Chang Heng was helped by Fairy like 500 years ago… he really liked her then. She offered to protect him, etc and helped heal his wounds from battle. He wiped her memory and left her sadly because he was engaged to Xi Yun.
So from that time on, he’s been trying to break off his engagement LOL when in the end it’s to Fairy/Xi Yun after all.

I finished reading the novel of Forbidden Love. It would be an interesting story but not sure how much they would change for the drama.
I like that conversation of Orchid and DFQC! The 3 months and the 30000 years.
His comments about her best outfit is the wedding gown. I thought the progression is well explained. Has he ever complimented Orchid on her looks before?
No he never complimented her on anything before LOL.
MS is doing what Fairy tried to do before ie reminisce on their time together, that only the 2 of them shared and knew about. He’s learnt how to do that from her. He’s feeling close to her but at that moment… she has to stop him from drinking poisoned wine LOL. What a way to get close!!!
I like that response of DFQC. We can ask questions, but what answer do we expect to hear?
I read an article saying there is too much time spent on the second leads. Also the main leads progression is too slow.

You’re speaking about A Romance of the Little Forest, correct? Yes. I think so too. The 2nd leads’ romance gets old pretty fast. Wish guy would buck up and tell the truth earlier.
Both couples are together with a lie. One lies to the girl the other couple lies to the parents.

I read that CH has fulfilled his promise to die for Danyin. You know before he jumped off.
SWOONY LINE (ep 25)
MS : “You were so dumb and thought I would kill you. It’s weird. We’ve only known each other for three months, but I feel like I have known you for 30,000 years. I’ve seen you in Faiy’s clothes, in Moon Tribe clothes and in Mortal clothes. But the most beautiful on you is the wedding dress tonight.”
He pours out the wine.
MS : “Although today’s wedding is fake, I am very happy. It’s like I’m really married.”
She stops him from drinking and asks him his purpose in coming to Lucheng City. He says what he does has nothing to do with her.
Fairy : “So you plan to kill my people and friends. Does that have nothing to do with me?”
Tears flow down her face.
Fairy : “Didn’t you promise me that you would not lie to me again?”
MS : “You already know I’m Moon Supreme. Why do you ask such a question? I want to destroy Shuiyuntian and avenge the Moon Tribe. You’ve already known this.”
Fairy : “But these days in Lucheng City, I thought you like the peaceful life. Besides you and Xiao Run have become friends.”
But he differentiates between Xiao Run and Chang Heng here like she did when he said that Xiao Run was his enemy.
He tells her that if she hates him for killing CH without hesitation, there’s nothing he can do.
RH and Die Yi pop into the mortal realm. We find out that the bead has the evil spirit, the real weapon against DFQC, so it does not matter if Fairy gave QC the poison or not.
Wan Qing goes in search of MS but the flute played by RH stops her. We get a flash back of him playing as a poor boy on the streets in the snow.
RH speaks to WQ who actually cannot see him. He’s invisible : “Master, I’m Ah-Hao. Come, let me take you to where you came from.”
She gets mesmerised and starts to follow the voice of RH, whom she does not seem to be able to see.
At the other side, Fairy is telling MS that she does not hate him, since he is the hope of the Moon Tribe. She’s in tears because she does not know what to do. He stands up to approach her, possibly to comfort her. He turns her to face him.
(OST The Light – I love it!!!)
Yeah – I am speaking about Little Forest.
Interesting to see how Shui Qi can hurt DFQC so much. Even Hell Fire can’t sort that out.

Danyin is around. She sees Xiao Run/CH. XR is shocked to see Cricket in woman’s clothes. She tells him that he has to return to Shuiyuntian. Everything he believed about himself and QC and the Wedding are fake.

Meanwhile the evil spirit exits the bead. Fairy pushes MS out of the pavilion while the evil black spirits swirl around her. It does not seem to hurt her but the mark on the back of Wan Qing’s neck is activated, and evil spirits emanate from it as if they’d been dormant inside her all this time. She continues to walk.
When the evil spirits enter through her eyes, she stops, drops the lamp and then moves on surrounded by evil spirits shouting in her head. Her thought is to find Fairy to kill her for taking MS away from her.
Fairy Save Count (Ep 25)
Fairy tells MS to keep away from the swirling evil mass, but he forces his way in towards her. It’s like walking through a thick miasma of evil that threatens to tear him apart. (Now that we’ve seen the end, this looks familiar. Fairy too, as Goddess had to walk through a thick shield to reach MS to stop him from being possessed by Tai Sui.)
Wan Qing approaches Xiao Run and Danyin. Danyin notices that something is wrong with her.
Danyin stands in front of Xiao Run to protect him, but he does the same to protect Qu Shui. Wan Qing is suddenly like an immortal again and summons a sword that pierces Xiao Run.
It’s CONFUSING
Evil spirits burst out in an explosion which then return concentrated into the bead, flying between MS and Fairy who are at the other pavilion. BUT… The next person we see with black smoke all around her is Wan Qing.
Ahh thanks GB! I love those lines! I remember when I watched it the first time I was so moved. I really felt the same. They only knew each other for a short time but they have been through a lot of meaningful time together.
Also I felt that gradual shift of his appreciation of her clothes matched the his gradual shift of feelings for Orchid.
Did Qu Shui hurt DFQC?

, MS has made it to the pavilion through his push towards Fairy The evil spirits seemed to disappear with his push forward with some Hellfire. Fairy hugs MS in relief. Getting through the evil spirits injured MS but he claims to be OK. (We later hear that he thinks he can control the evil spirits.)
MS :”It’s just an evil spirit, don’t worry.”
She tells him that the poison wine and bead were made by RH.
MS notes that RH is Chidi’s one and only disciple.
Although injured, he leaves her : “To do what I should do.” (Presumably to kill Chidi and take her primordial spirit).
Ep 26 starts!
Now Wang Qing was killed by DFQC. All happened very fast.
Does Orchid remember using his power later on?
Fairy looks for Wooden Head, but Wan Qing comes with a sword at her.
The words in her head is to her ‘husband’ (the kind of words that Yannv might have said to her lover and to the woman he betrayed her for)
Voice in WQ’s head : “Why did you choose her over me. Give me, my husband back! You betrayed me for this woman! You took him away.”
Fairy tries to get WQ to wake from the poison/influence of the evil spirits but fails. WQ raises the sword to plunge it into Fairy.
It seems that Fairy never did associate her defending MS from evil spirits with any super power she had. She never mentioned it. So maybe she didn’t even know. She fainted after that.
EPISODE 26
Before Chidi/Wan Qing can strike Fairy, she’s impaled by the Hellfire sword that sends her flying backwards to be pinned against the wooden door.
(In effect this is the fulfillment of her Tribulation Experience. She really was killed by her husband, on his sword, on the wedding night. However, MS and Fairy are still so stuck on the idea that it should be CH who kills her that they miss the significance and think her experience has failed.)
Fairy Save Count (Ep 26)
MS summons the Hellfire sword that dislodges itself from Chidi’s body and returns to him. Evil spirits come swooshing out of Chidi’s body, aiming straight for MS and Fairy.
Fairy instinctively holds up her hand in defense, and creates a green light shield that pushes back the evil, keeping both herself and MS safe. Fairy is actually able to stand up and move forward, pushing back on the evil spirits that keep bashing themselves against her shield. That’s some power she has there… but she has help that she does not know about. Behind her are the spirits of her parents who add their power to hers.
Danyin sees this and recognises the Xishan Goddess in what Fairy is able to do.
Fairy’s eyes reflect or burn with green light.
We get a blink and you’ll miss it glimpse of 2 fairies standing behind Fairy (her parents?) who are adding their strength to hers. They are probably invisible though (04:06)
MS recoginises the green lights exploding out of Fairy as the Xilan Holy Seal.
Yeah true. When DFQC was carrying her, she was asking DCQC what happened to her. Doesn’t look like she remembers anything.
The big fight is coming! I like that part!
yeah I think it’s her parents. Protecting her. A bit like Harry Potter’s mum’s love?
Yup… the battle between heaven and earth LOL.
F : “What happened? Where is this?”
MS : “You’re fine. We’re about to reach the Memory Loss River. After we cross the river, we’ll be able to go home.”
Fairy nods. It’s clear that to her, where MS is, is home. (I kind of wish she’d say it in words though LOL.)
At Shenshui Hall, CH ascends but he’s a different CH. In his first memory are now the times he spent with DFQC as a friend – a soulmate. His next memory is how he had met Fairy and then again how he’d become sworn brothers with DFQC.
He thinks of Fairy (again) and leaves to find her. (Seems he forgot his good friend Qu Shui.)
9:23 MS and Fairy get onto a boat, but MS is too weak to do much. Overhead the ‘heavenly’ lot come along to attack QC while he is weak.
Seems like the immortals can hold court/attack on the Memory Loss River.
MS : “What a bunch of losers!” LOL
MS can create a shield but cannot drive the Hellfire forward as a snake-like weapon, like he used to do. He’s shocked at his inability. He gets struck down and Yun Zhong is pleased. He orders the fairies to kill DFQC.
Yes, there are aspects of this show that remind us of Harry Potter… like the Xilan curse that appears on the forehead, linking Fairy and MS.
Well CH finally steps up to say whoever hurts Fairy is his enemy … but it’s too late. She’s found that she loves MS too much and SYT is no longer home to her.
In what YZ probably thinks is his magnanimous gesture, he says that after DFQC is killed, Fairy Orchid can return safe and sound.
CH offers her a hand, telling her to come home.
She does not budge.
F : “Come home? Although I haven’t left SYT for long, the life in Arbiter Hall seems like thousands of years and ten thousands of years away.” She has one hand on MS’s shoulder and another holding on to his hand. ” Eventhough I really want to go home even in her dreams,…” and speaks of all the things she misses. But she keeps gripping onto MS’s hand at the same time and he’s holding on to her hand just as tightly.
CH promises to keep her safe back home, remembering the challenges that MS had tossed at him in Fairy’s body, when he had asked CH if he could stand against his brother and the rules of heaven to protect Fairy. CH offers Fairy that she can choose to live anywhere in SYT. “I promise no one will treat you badly in the whole of SYT.” (I repeat, I love this script writer. The dialogue put in place in different parts of the past episodes are given their responses in the later episodes.)
Fairy makes her decision, apologising to CH. She pushes the boat off to go down river to Cangyan.
CH then has to protect her from his brother. Somehow the bolts of light or water from heaven do not attack the little boat but fall on CH. Or maybe he drew all the fire power to himself.
Yes CH missed the boat. Literally too. Orchid left without him.
Oh the confirmation kiss is coming soon!!!
I love that kiss… when no words would do or couldn’t come forth, the kiss had to say it all.
MS and Fairy have crossed the river and rest on the other side with MS being unconscious so long that Fairy is in tears with worry.
FAIRY SAVE Count? (Ep 2)
She remembers something, her blood is restorative… so she gives him some of her blood, hoping to revive him.

F complains : “Didn’t you always say that you are the supreme and the strongest of the three realms? So you’ll be fine, right? Please wake up. As long as you can wake up, no matter how much you hurt me or lie to me, I won’t get angry. I beg you. Don’t leave me by myself.”
He opens his eyes and she cries on his chest. (I don’t see the Hairpin in her hair, but he still has the ring on.)

He pats her back, and wipes the tears from her face.
MS : “I’m fine. Don’t cry.”
MS : “Why did you save me? You always wanted to go home, didn’t you?” Fairy looks away. She does not want to admit that she loves him.
They note that now she saved him, she really cannot go back home. He asks her again why but she does not want to answer. She tries to change the subject, by going to get food but he is not to be deterred. He pulls her back to fall into his arms where he keeps her.

MS insistently : “Why?”
Before she gives a proper answer, he kisses her soundly.
They clasp hands like they did on the boat.
Yes I love the script writer. Like the “layering” the progression of MS feelings to Orchid via his appreciation of her outfit.
When MS thought that was only 3 months but like 30,000 years. Orchid also felt that she has left the Arbiter Hall for thousand and thousand of years. The lines of MS and Orchid are responding to each other.
Ahh the confirmation kiss. Look! MS never missed the chance. He is decisive. He makes much better judgement than CH in many aspects.
That embarrassing look of MS – it feels he is a young Dylan. Throughout the drama MS looks very mature. That look is rare.
Yeah, I did wonder how Dylan managed to make himself look thousands of years old … when not acting we see him with his usually young face and boyish expressions, but as MS he has so much gravitas.

In this scene where Fairy comes to give him his medicine he smiles twice or more.
MS is docile with Fairy and takes his medicine as ordered.
He wants to see her out, practically gamboling/running after her like a puppy *so cute!*. He takes her hand for a while and lets her go reluctantly.
MS saw that Fairy stood between him and danger twice. The second time was against her own people. She even rejected CH twice in front of both of them. This is the 2nd time. And finally she takes MS away with her to their home. So it’s so clear, and no words are necessary. Fairy however is always embarrassed to put it into words at this stage.
SWOONY LINES Count (Ep 26)
QC seems to notice a change in Fairy’s mood although he’s got the Jade Ring on and she’s got the Hair Pin on. He sits with her, after hearing her say to Jie Lie, that she wants to be alone.
(Cyn_lynn suggests it’s because Jie Li had taught him that girls say the opposite of what they want. So he thought that when she said she wanted to be alone, actually she wanted company.)
MS : “Jie Li says you want to be alone. I can keep you company.”
F : “Wooden Head, you shouldn’t have saved me.”
MS : “I don’t need you to tell me what to do.”
F : “I want the First God of War to successfully ascend through the hardship experience. I can’t bear to see the soldiers forever sealed in the Xuanxu Realm, who can’t see their loved ones. but these two things have failed because of me. I also caused you to get hurt.”
MS : “It was my decision to kill Xie Wan Qing. You don’t need to feel guilty about it. And I will never regret saving you at that time. There other ways to unseal the Moon Tribe soldiers. but in all three realms I cannot find another timid, crybaby Orchid, who likes to meddle in things, causes a lot of trouble, but cares for me and takes care of me, makes me willing to give rebirth to the Love Tree for her, cry with her, and laugh with her, Little Orchid” He takes her hands in his.
CH interrupts them and MS can’t get to tell Fairy that she’s Xi Yun. LOL the expression on MS’s face when they see who came.
MS’s in a bad mood as manifested in the sudden thunder, lightning and strangely coloured clouds.
Must be a very good director and Dylan worked hard. I watched an interview – apparently when he entered this project, that is when he received those negative feedback on Meet the Dragon. He has to move past those negative comments to focus on this drama. May be that’s why he said the character of DFQC is his redemption.
Watching him in Rational Life. He had a few good moving scenes. He is not as emotionless as people made out in those negative comments for Meet the Dragon.
I figured that interpreting the character right is hard. I remember even my favourite Cho Seung Woo has attract negative comments on his interpretation on Han Tae Sul. Alchemy, luck and hard work for a successful character and drama!

Fairy cleverly plays on MS’s kindness towards his people, so MS plays along but has to make it a competition as to him doing the favour because Fairy asked and not because CH asked. LOL These alpha male kids.
They keep snarking at each other with challenging looks that instigate trouble, but they are on the same page about their ‘friendship’ in Yun Meng.

I have finally completed my rewatch, thanks to Netflix. Not only is this drama better appreciated on a rewatch, it is also fresh and it is still hard to let go the characters. Why does it have to be so good?
But coming back to these episodes, I guess one thing I’m still confused about is the whole Yannu, Lord Dong and Chonghua relationship. I guess Stellar Production aims to make a multiverse of Jiu Lei Fei Shang’s novels (and maybe they are already written in the format) so I’m hoping this is covered in some other drama because this is an interesting story one shouldn’t miss out. As much as I know from ep 26 and more is that Yannu was betrayed by Chonghua and then she made Moon Tribe. However, in this episode CH talks about a mother leaving them and XLH talks about Lord Dong and Yannu playing the zither for the souls. I guess that is because they were both leaders of the tribes. But it would just make an interesting story if Yannu was CH’s mother all along. I guess that’s not the case but this whole talk about them out of nowhere is slightly confusing.
Also I absolutely love ep 28 and the the few starting minutes of ep 29. The Cangyan Sea episodes are really something thanks to the developing and developed feelings.
I finally want to let go of this show now but it is still quite hard lol. I have never rewatched a show and the last time I had a tough time moving on from one was Misaeng in 2015. LBFAD is that good.

Yes LBFD was an amazing watch wasn’t it? I still enjoy it so much. I re-re-re-watch it LOL. Now I’m on a quest to find another show that can surpass this. LBFD makes it obvious that a good, high quality Xian Xia is possible, and it will be hard to accept any other show that does not at least come close to the quality of this show, or equal and surpass it.
I do appreciate that a great deal of time and effort went into making the script logical and consistent, in bringing us full circle to give great satisfaction, and especially the amazing dialogues that made some of the best arguments I’ve heard in drama. I’m right now listening to the OSTs again, and both the BGM and the sung OSTs are also so appropriate, so right in the emotions they elicit. Needless to say, we’ve already waxed lyrical on the beautiful CGI.
When we consider that the crew made this with often only blue screen/props or no props around them, I’m in awe of the kind of emotions they could portray. It will take me a long, long time to be able to turn away from such a ‘mind-satisfying’ and ‘heart-filling’ show.

I still can’t get over how beautifully made CLJ is. Not just the details in styling of the realms, but even the details in the neatly set up plot. To say is grand is an understatement.
It has also lead me to venture into a lot more Chinese sites because errr…they really talk more about the show there and get lost in the overload of info 😛

How’s the viewing of Rational Life going?
Recently fatigue hits me again so I haven’t started any new drama. Happy to just do the rewatch of CLJ and admire all the lines again 😊
Also I have picked up reading again to transit myself out of this beloved drama. A good drama like this is hard to come by!!! May be I’ll find another good one after a few months. I did notice I lean towards c dramas lately. Totally wasn’t expecting that!

Sometimes I feel that my not knowing Chinese is a kind of blessing, because then I won’t get even more sucked in than I am. I’m actually watching Hello Saturday without subs just to watch the actors being themselves. Something I’ve not done in many years.
I’m wondering if all the great Easter eggs were discovered just by fans or whether this PD and marketing team were astute. They must have prepared to give out a whole lot of BTS info, like the Sweet Details you’ve linked to on Weibo. They may perhaps have dropped hints along the way so that fans of the show would discover more. Long after the show is over, the interest in it does not flag and (I’m guessing) more and more stuff is released about it still. Great after sales service and marketing!
I happened to click on BTS videos that I’d never seen before but they were subbed in Vietnamese. So I know there are heaps more things out there on Cang Lan Jue that I have deliberately not tried to find. 😵💫 🤪 😬

RL : It’s great so far. I like the pace and the progression of events. I must say that Dylan looks great as a character closer to himself and his age. It’s fun watching his and even his roommate’s interactions.
TU : I went into it knowing zilch. I liked it for the good underdog story and how it progressed. Of course the actors (who were inexperienced) were also a great draw in the end. They acted their best, so sincerely and I really enjoyed what they brought to the screen. The production values itself was nothing great. It was obvious that they were on a tight budget (especially the deplorable CG) and there was little that was as beautiful as LBFD, however the emotional pull of the show was good. There was also some mystery as to what was happening and why, which got solved. There were some parts that could have been edited and scenes that did not seem to be needed, however on the whole a good watch. I didn’t know that it was supposed to be a BL story based on the novel or manhwa, but show did it as a bromance and was able to skirt the regulations.
I really felt a lot for the characters of the show at the time, and I took weeks to get over it too, but unlike with LBFD, I won’t want to do a full rewatch of TU. Maybe just some scenes and episodes.
So you have to decide whether you think it’s worth the time or not, for yourself. I think it was for me.
I also seem to be more interested in cdramas now. May be also because the few kdramas I happened to try lacked the ‘x’ factor. LOL.
@Viva, finished watching Rational life and recently discovered there is a part 2 to it :O the proposal part! Have yet to watch it cos I will wait to watch with hubby. I loved it for the more reflective part of the story, about society’s expectations on marriage, work and kids etc and of course the challenges of a noona romance which they call big-sister-little-brother-love.
Of course, where do you even find such guy…a dream come true 😛
I haven’t watched Untamed. So many to watch, I feel a little spoilt for choice but also not having a lot of time to indulge, i need to choose wisely. 😛 This foray into cdramas had gotten my hubby MORE interested into it and so we are watching Go go squid together…it’s not attracting me as much for now. I loved “Who Rules The World” though!

I just took a look at the Special Edition of The Untamed, and I believe that version will be easier to watch. At least the show was cut from 50 to 20 episodes!!! I guess the emphasis will be on the mystery and the relationship of the heroes, the latter of which is the main draw.

MS looks on curiously and a bit jealously but does not eavesdrop.
Yes ep 27. I actually did catch up to this episodes but I was reading you and Viva and notices I missed the parents on ep 25/26. I have to go back.
MS and CH are playing the music for the lost souls. MS and CH are saying goodbye in the most murderous way lol and Orchid mentions she would like to go back to Lucheng.
Yes Fairy’s parents were only shown for a second. I had to rewind to make sure I didn’t imagine them.
Yes it’s a nice to see MS looking jealous but willing to let Orchid have her privacy.
MS is toughtful while Orchid and CH talk. He paces and at one point he wants to go over.
DFQC is not an evil guy but he has his loyalities and he is not one to betray his own people. It is the conflict CH also has.
I love that they had time in LuCheng to experience the kind of peace they really really desire.
MS is getting impatient as he watches Fairy’s conversation with CH, but stops himself from going up to pull Fairy away.
CH takes a step towards Fairy, but interestingly she backs off a step. Also we note that when MS went off on his own she followed him instead of staying with the visitor, CH.

Fairy to CH : “You saved my life. But I was ignorant and knew nothing of the world. I didn’t know there were various feelings in this world. My affection for you is gratitude and appreciation. She returns the token of love, the Magical Firefly Stone, to CH (without even touching his hand LOL). MS looks on trying to see what’s happening. He stops himself from going up to them. Fairy drops the stone into CH’s hand.

I like that DFQC gets to relax and play around a while with Fairy and even CH before matters of state come back to the fore.

This reminds me of the time DFQC respected her privacy and didn’t change the heart pin. I love that even though he wanted to know he could put his selfishness aside and let Orchid be who she is. Because when she is ready to tell, if she is close enough to him, she will tell him and that is more meaningful than him finding it out secretly. That is really worth appreciating about DFQC.
Orchid is confessing that her affection was more appreciation and affection.
Orchid: It’s not the affection that can make my heart sour and painful. It’s not the affection that can still survive and blossom even though it’s crushed.
She’s more mature in recognizing her feelings. I thought it was interesting that she describes her love that way, but appropiate because her love does survive and blossom.
MS and Fairy walk around like commoners at the marketplace. Everyone is selling love locks. The Mountain and Moon Festival (for lovers) was coming up in 7 days. It happened once every 1,000 years.
They come across Jie Li and then SQ. SQ had bought the love locks.
If couples in love carve their names on the love lock, and hang them on the bridge of love, on the night of the festival, when the moon meets the mountain, then they will be together forever and ever.
Fairy likes the idea. MS looks at her. He says it’s groundless and to cheat kids.
However, seeing that she likes the romance of the locks, he buys some promptly – the strongest and best once LOL.

Awww…I love how Orchid recognizes the kind of love she has for CH: gratitude and appreciation.
The love for DFQC is one that makes her “heart sour and painful”. I know she pointed to her heart and said 酸(sour)痛(pain) but if you translate 心里(heart)酸痛（sour & pain) it means HEARTACHE 💔 awww… I know it’s not a good feeling but it is those whom we love deeply who will give us the deepest heartache.
What she says she doesn’t have affection to wards CH, is the affection she has for DFQC. That is how deep Orchid’s love for DFQC is! 😍😍😍😍😍😍 she now has a basis for comparison.
@grace, yes we didn’t update the appreciation thread … but maybe it was already mentioned, ie how DFQC respects her privacy and gives her leave to keep her secrets, although he’s so curious.
@grace heartache makes more sense to me than sour and pain. I get that. Yes when you are in love (at the beginning at least) I think it can feel very painful lol
And because now she knows how to love she can recognize what are the feelings she feels for CH.

Lol do you see how nervous DFQC is pacing around as CH speaks to Orchid. He got more nervous when Orchid gives the firefly stone back to CH…she didn’t even touch his hand but just dropped it. Totally drawing that line between her and him.
Was he trying to see if she is crying when he went closer to her??
And she restores their connection by giving him an opportunity to care for her which she knows he will gladly to and enjoy it. It’s that bit of cuteness and acting coquettishly.
That’s true @grace, Fairy sort of soothed MS in case any feathers were ruffled by pretending that she was too tired to walk. They need more time to play together. They’ve been serious for so long or in danger!
Poor Dragon, Jeili loves making money so he’s sad to hear that they are not going together.
I thought the part where MS is asking for the lock is so funny. He is trying to buy it conspiscuouly but the market lady is loud. He makes the tiniest of movement to acknowledge what he wants and gives the market lady a deathly stare cause she keeps being loud. LOL

Yeah @Carolina, DFQC was embarrassed to buy the locks but he chose the loudest vendor LOL. I thought at first they they’d both chosen the looks that looked the same but I think the design was different.
Carolina, I think the locks were very similar. Fairy may have chosen the one with flowers and MS chose the one with a dragon or something like that. Same shape or similar shaped though.
Love locks! 同心锁 better translated as One Heart lock! ❤️ 🔐 that the lovers are of one heart…reminds me of those couple necklaces where each wears a part of the heart and it pieces together…Well same and different.
Wow…the Mountain Moon Festival reminds me of eclipse of the moon or sun. So theirs is the moon meeting the moon-shaped mountain which becomes their valentines day! Sweet!

Carolina, yes, this is the first time MS puts it into words that she is his beloved. So the first person he tells is XF, because XF wanted to have Fairy killed.
Good joke is that MS does not get a chance to tell Fairy in words. But his actions are very loud.
RH said that Chidi looked sad when first saw her. We later know that she exchanged her fate for his life, sadly it was to be her downfall and because of her he did worse things. Sigh…RH is the classic example of sincerely going the wrong way for love.
I feel that the new CH is wiser and braver. He is less like a Shuiyuntian representative who is hypocritical and is more understanding, able to see through to the essence of things. CH sees now that he is but a chess piece to Lord Yun to achieve his goals and desires. And even when CH is willing to punished by death, Lord Yun wouldn’t! Else who will help SYT defend it? Honestly Lord Yun is not able to.
We hear how RH begins his love for his master. When Chidi women dies he says he became a shell and goes on a rampage. I want to feel sad for his story but somehow the fact that he starts killing makes his “heartache” less impactful.
Grace, I like the growth arc of most of the main characters. CH’s growth was a relief. He acknowledges his mistakes and makes the decision not to continue on the same path.
Carolina, as I mentioned elsewhere, for love DFQC and Fairy sacrificed themselves, but RH sacrificed everyone except himself to feed his own greed. In the end he even abandoned faithful Die Yi.
He is not a sympathetic character at all.
@GB, I had to lol at the very loud actions of DFQC which is really awesome anyway because how can anyone miss it? Not us for sure.
Grace, his actions get even louder in the next episode. It’s swoony both on the Fairy side and on the MS side.
@GB same here, the good guys have a nice growth arc which is in line with the main theme of the story that love makes one a better person. But it doesn’t work for RH though! Actually eventually he paid the price for his actions and had to kill the one he loves.
Danyin was an interesting side character in that she enables the change in trajectory of the plot from time to time. Now she will have to consider what she can do to save CH.
Ah I kept watching but not writing.
Few things that are memorable to me:
1. RH and CH friendship is true. I think their conversation was swoony lol because they do care for each other.
2. CH finally stands up to big brother. I loved CH’s look as he tells his brother that he doesnt want to wage war anymore.
3. Orchid comforting MS by the fountain.
If there was a weakness in this show, it could be the incorporating of Li Yuan’s backstory and making him the father of twin girls, one brought up by the Moon Tribe and one in SYT. It didn’t enable greater progress in the plot or better understanding between the races.
@GB I agree with you regarding the backstory of LiYuan. It’s even more confusing to me that RH is there. I dont understand the math lol
Carolina, yes, I forgot about the nice sitting by the fountain scene where she held both his hands to comfort him. His worry was real and justified.
We move from his worry to Li Yuan’s worry. His secret might be found out. Worse, he has a weakness that of all people, RH can capitalise on.
In between we have Danyin’s worry for CH.
Episode ends with much anxiety! LOL.
Is DFQC’s lack of hellfire due to his recovery of his emotions or because he was injured by the evil spirit? It is so good to see Orchid being DFQC’s source of comfort.
Watching on Netflix I can now see the Chinese version of the names and Liyuan’s wife’s name is XingLuo 星落 which means fallen star which is sad in relation to her fate in the story.
It’s strange that Die Yi can just enter the palace. I assume she came in butterfly shape or just magically got in.
Grace, I believe the Hellfire was affected since he started having emotions, but only gradually. When he was definitely in love with Fairy, he could not control it much as we saw on the boat. Now that he’s deeply attached to her, he can barely conjure Hellfire.
EPISODE 28 REWATCH STARTS HERE
Die Yi faithfully gets going to start RH’s plans on retrieving Chidi’s spirit. She manages everything very well, with threats, blackmail, and poison …
I love this Episode 28 – so intense with love declared and the forming of 2 couples officially.
ooh grace I had the same question about the hellfire. I wondered why it’s hard for him to conjure Hellfire.
Die Yi and even Jeili seem to enter moon palace without being detected. Although the guards did sense it.
I noticed that Jeili was writing Dragon’s name on the lock. So she was thinking of doing one for him.
Unfortunately, Jeili has to push Dragon away since she has to betray her friends. She doesnt want any attachments.
When did Jieli get poisoned or when did she meet with Dieyi and RH? They didn’t specifically show us.
Ahhh here we see SQ being possessed by this plant thing as he passes it or is that DieYi?
Also SQ’s sincere words and love ‘foolishness’ touched JL again and again. He doesn’t mind being tricked and lied to by JL, and will willingly and gladly be deceived by JL Gosh…he is sincere to the end, just as he is loyal to DFQC to the end.
DY plays on Jie Li’s great fears/insecurities… she always believes others will abandon her. “If you identity as a spy is exposed, do you think SQ will still love you? Will Orchid still treat you with sincerity? … If my memory serves me right, you have eaten up the antidote His Majesty gave you, right?”
In addition DY enslaves her minions by forcing them to take poison and then withholding the antidote. Hateful woman but pitiful at the same time.
Carolina, Jie Li’s arc is nice. From depending only on herself and money, she had to learn to trust in ‘foolish’ Fairy and our dumb dragon LOL.
There’s a slight smile on MS as he’s walking out to meet Orchid for the sunrise I”m assuming.
But he meets his people who want Orchid dead =(
Grace, it will be from a flashback that we see here how Jie Li became Haishi’s spy. She took the poison then as a sign that she’d be loyal to Haishi.
SQ was poisoned by butterfly Die Yi. She becomes a purple butterfly or it’s her true form.
@GB @Carolina, I thought it would have been because of his emotions coming back. But I vaguely remembered that there was something said about the hellfire only being able to be learnt by someone really good at magic or whatever, but the fastest way to attain it was to remove the emotional root. So I was thinking, if he has already attained it, he would not have lost it, even emotions coming back. Attaining Hellfire does not necessitate the emotional root to be taken away, just the path to attain it.
So I thought it would have been that the evil spirits doing something to diminish his powers drastically, and he needs to recuperate to gain it back.
Carolina, I like that smile. It’s actually evening and he’s going to see the moon meet the mountain with Fairy on the bridge. They are supposed to tie their love locks.

MS walks out of the palace with a smile of anticipation on his face but is surprised to meet with his people who ask that he not have a relationship with Fairy.
Just like the fairies of SYT, the Moon Tribe people have a prejudiced, stereotypical view of fairies.
“The woman is a jinx. Please cut off your ill-fated relationship and return to the palace.”
The people have listened to XF who told them that their 100K soldiers were stuck because of Fairy. For that she should die “But your Majesty dotes on her. She is a jinx. She deserves to die!”
MS listens with his hands in fists.
He strikes at the top of a monument and defends her.
MS : “If I had never met Orchid, no one would teach me how to forgive. If you irritate me this (the broken monument) is how you will end up.”
MS to Xun Feng : “XF, if Orchid had not found the truth of Father’s suicide, you would have been executed by lightning on the anniversary of Father’s death. If you still regard me as your brother, you should regard her as your sister-in-law.”
This gives everyone especially XF a shock.
“Sister-in-law? You are serious about her. You want to marry her?”
SWOONY LINES count (Ep 28)
He agrees that he wants to marry her.
MS makes a public declaration of his love for Fairy : “Yes. I love her. I will not only meet her on Mountain and Moon Festival, but also prepare the grandest wedding within the three realms for her.”
He tells everyone to raise their heads : “Since you all respect me, from now on you should love her as much as you respect me. You said that since she is from the Fairies, she must be wicked. but you don’t know she is nice and gentle. she has never had any prejudice against the Moon Tribe. She has treated us with equal respect and love.”
So the 2nd people he tells about his love are all his people and not yet to Fairy LOL.
@GB, DY’s questions to cause JL to waver reminds me of the way Taisui talks to the people he wants to deceive. Questioning their intentions, putting negative ideas in their head to cause them to lose hope. Plus JL has such a childhood, DY definately is tapping on that to control her.

(Totally out of character for him, MS decides to explain why he loves Fairy and why the people should accept her. Only love could make him bother to do this.) -APPRECIATION THREAD??

XF stands up shocked and all the people beg MS to change his mind.
He takes on the 9 Bone Devouring Spikes as punishment for failing to bring back the 100,000 soldiers.
He promised that he would not remove the spikes until the soldiers come back. He did it to satisfy the people.
MS : “I hereby swear in the name of the Moon Supreme Lord. I won’t remove the spikes from my body until the hundreds of thousands of soldiers come back! Are you satisfied with this?”

Sigh…XF, XF, he has rallied the people to oppose DFQC’s r/s with Orchid. Sadly, one’s identity is connected to the people you are associated with. And they, not knowing Orchid’s and DFQC’s story will be biased against her because of she comes from their enemy’s side.
Even though DFQC uses words to explain to his people of how good Orchid is, eventually he uses his actions to show to the people his owning up of his shortcomings and lack in not being able to save the 100,000 soldiers. It shows how much he loves her. and how much he does not shift blame to others. How does this make his people have so much respect for him.
Grace, it’s not entirely clear, except that I recall MS explaining to Fairy why there were no feelings between them long ago in Arbiter Hall. He linked it to his ability to control Hellfire. Because he could control it, he was sure that he did not love her then.
It was only possible to control it if one was talented and had no more link to the emotional root. The fastest way to break connection with the emotional root was to kill a loved one. His father had said that each time they went through the torture to remove emotions, the emotions would return again. So it’s both emotions and love, but especially love that determines ability to control Hellfire.
awwww it’s the best love declaration to the people MS can do. And he has to take a punishment.
That punishment looks painful while the main OST is playing.
LOL, Fairy tried to distract SQ from stopping her from seeing MS by pretending to see Jie Li. Didn’t work.
SQ was more affected by being called Fairy’s good friend, and he spills everything to Fairy LOL.
True Grace, he took responsibility for everything. He never took the easy way out of blaming his subordinates. So when Fairy argues with him later, she is able to say that the people respect him, not XF, not because of his birth but because of what he did.
Carolina, I love this OST too… the BGM with the la-la-la …
SQ tells Fairy : “In order to go to the Mountain and Moon Festival with you, he received nine Bone Devouring Spikes.”
Fairy is in tears : “Why did he do this?”
SQ : “He said he wouldn’t remove the spikes until the soldiers return. This is the price he paid for being with you an explanation for the people of the Moon Tribe.”
Fairy : “I see. I’ll wait for him here.”
MS comes out with a cloak the next morning, and covers her with it. She wakes up and hugs him.
He brings her to where treasures are being offered to her. He gives her the key to the Pavilion of Spiritual Treasures. “It can open all the treasure houses. It’s yours now.”
She thinks he’s giving her stuff because he’s going to die LOLOL, but he tells her to calm down.
I love Fairy’s love declaration in the form of a proposal. The bracelet ready made to be given to MS shows that she had determined very soon upon her return that she would propose to him. I just love this.
Wow these scenes are intense. I am captivated by their emotions and just stare. Yes Dragon spills the beans about the punishmnet but I feel the message that MS wants to be with Orchid is not traslated well lol.
Meanwhile Orchid is waiting for him, not knowing what has happened. He still makes it there despite his pain. She is really his comfort.
He promised her he wouldn’t lie to her but the things he doesn’t want to tell her he really wouldn’t! So he also wouldn’t tell her why he suffered those Bone Devouring Strikes. This is the beginning of tears tears tears.
The skies are beautiful here in this drama, there is the day and then stormy midnight, then morning when DFQC comes to put a coat over Orchid who was waiting outside. Her dress here is so so beautiful, that purple reminding me of dusk or dawn.
Orchid proposes to DFQC first!
Look at how his expression softens!
Their “ring” is their bracelets that they wear.
Fairy beats him to the proposal LOL.

He is so touched, he’s speechless and puts on the bracelet.
MS wants to revoke the old laws which prohibit inter-marriage. He wanted to set a new precedent.
Break the ancestral rules. He threatens anyone who mentions the intermarriage rules again with death.
SWOONY Words from Fairy
Fairy comes to MS to say she would go into the Fuju Cave. “Because I want to be with you.”
MS : “You can be with me without entering the Fuju Cave. You don’t need to suffer for me at all.”
Fairy : “I will do it for you, but not entirely for you. Since ancient times, when Yannv and Chonghua broke up, the wars between Fairies and the Moon Tribe have never stopped. … I can’t tell whose hatred is deeper…

LOL, just as MS says he’d have killed anyone who spoke again about not marrying Fairy, XF is about to open his mouth (and get killed) but Fairy saves him by being the one to speak.
I like how Orchid is the mediator between SYT and CYS like how she originally is Xilan tribe has always been a neutral party and she is.

Wow oh wow…saying this in front of so many people is so wow. Her 3 reasons is also so true.
Now they can be really of one heart. He cannot say he will bear all of it himself, and they both have to bear the test and challenges together, even though each will experience their own personal hardship. This scene, I have heard over and over again because of the OST that included this conversation of both of them.

MS : “Do you know what Fuju Cave is like? You may suffer the torture unparalleled in the world. No one knows better than me. When my father pulled out my seven emotions. The Fuju Cave is more horrible than the Bone Devouring Spike. Since ancient times, I’m the only one who has come out of the cave alive.”
F : “I know. You survived back then, so I can too. Don’t underestimate me.”
MS :”I won’t allow it.”
I love Orchid’s bravery. I also love Orchid’s declaration of love and her forging her way to earn her deserved position as Moon Queen. It’s like loving DFQC has made her come out of her shell and she has this great drive to protect, love, fight for DFQC. Honestly loving their conversation here.
XF’s ploy to make Orchid give up has gone wrong and now she has to suffer in the Non-abidance cave. He really didn’t think she will take up the punishment and I felt his desperation not wanting to be hated by his brother.
Lol…DFQC knew eveytime Orchid put something in his wine. Yet he drank it.
I’m just very moved by the whole scene. I was wondering why this was your favorite episode @GB. Since my memory is crappy I forgot this one was so intense.
Orchid beats MS in asking him to marry him. I thought it was funny that MS tells Orchid that what she has to say cannot be more important then what he has to say.

Ep 28 is the absolute best. It gave us both the leads sacrificing for each other and sharing each other’s responsibilities publicly. While they have sacrified for eachother before, it never happened in a single episode and not publicly. Plus their grand declarations pf love were not even one bit cheesy but extremely swoony and loveable.

@Carolina, a thought on the hand holding (I love those MVs that bring all the similar scenes together!) … the very first time Fairy took MS’s hand was in the first save at Haishi City, when he was wearing the scary, pointy fingered glove things. She used 2 hands to shake one of his hands in thanks, and wanted to leave LOL. Of course that didn’t work. But what a world of difference can be seen in their hand-holding now.
We saw MS take her hand when he pretended to be her husband in Yun Meng. They took turns to hold each other’s hand when they escaped from Yun Meng in the boat and then on the shore. We just saw her hold his hands to comfort him at the fountain, and in this episode to make her point, as an end to their argument.
Such eloquent language, are hand-holds.
@GB hope your FIL is ok and feeling better.

EPISODE 29 REWATCH STARTS HERE!!!
We start off with Fairy in the Fuju Cave. Her torture is bad but she finds that she’s sustained by memories of her good times with MS, even from the early days when they were not yet a couple. She recalls that he still cared for her although he had appeared cold.
The Xilan Heart Curse kicks in for MS and we find out that MS did not swallow the wine laced with the Dream of Nine Mysteries, hence he suffers along with Fairy.
MS tells SQ : “Since we decided to be a couple, we must live and die together, share the honour and disgrace. Even though I can’t take it for her, how can I let her suffer alone?” (I applaud the sentiment but I don’t think I have that kind of resolve LOL.) He falls to the ground writhing in pain and his crown falls off his head.
Fairy is able to remember the good (read romantic) times with MS even in the midst of the torture and that calms her. She looks practically serene inside while the torturers outside do a count to 10 to let her have a chance to ask to come out.
She recalls how he cooled the hot bowl of dew for her, how he kissed her underwater to give her air to breathe, how he saved her in SYT, their dragon ride to Wind Plain and the petals falling from the trees. That means she knew that he was there that night.
She also recalls him giving her fish to eat, how she tried to teach him to smile, the kiss on the bridge…, the sight of the cloud whale and how she caught his smile when he saw her excitement,
Although given the chance to exit the cave, she knocks twice to indicate that she was staying inside. Back at the palace, even MS can feel that she’s doing OK and he is able to get up.
At the end of 3 days, he goes (without bothering to put on his crown) to bring her home. She’s greeted by the ones in the cave as the Moon Queen. Even Xun Feng acknowledges her, albeit with some reservations.
The door opens and MS walks in to her. The look they exchange as he touches her face is the next swooniest gesture after their love declarations. The OST swelling really makes this so heart warming. They walk back hand-in-hand to the greetings of the crowd that had just 4 days previously denounced her.
I liked that he didn’t carry her back (as I originally expected) It was so fitting that she walked out on her own two feet, hand-in-hand with the one she had undergone the torture for.
Back in Shuiyuntian, CH is getting his sentence, but before he can go a couple of steps to the fairy guillotine, his brother has to list all the dishonour that he will suffer even after death.
Danyin comes to save CH. She finally confess that Fairy Orchid is the missing Goddess of Xishan, so actually CH was repeatedly saving the life of his bethrothed and had done nothing wrong.
(I wonder that they don’t bother about the fact that he was saving Fairy Orchid when he had no clue who she was).
Still Yun Zhong seizes on that excuse to heap honours back on CH and reinstates him as God of War.
Danyin confesses that she had seen CH’s and Orchid’s wedding in the Tianji Mirror. There would be 2 weddings. Once when they experienced the reincarnation in the mortal world. The other time was when CH and the Goddess of Xishan got married by the Memory Loss River.
So there was a future event yet to come, during which CH was to fulfill the wish of Lord Dong that he should marry the Xishan Goddess.
Rong Hao’s confession is sent to the fairy court. It falsely points the finger at the Moon Tribe for the deaths of 3,000 soldiers. YZ declares war on Cangyan Sea much to CH’s horror and YZ’s delight. (I abhor his gloating face in ths scene.)
CH confronts RH for the lie. RH says it does not matter who really killed the 3,000 soldiers but he gave the desired answer to YZ.
RH : “It won’t do him any good if he executes an unauthorised immortal like me. But if it was DFQC who killed 3,000 immortal soldiers, he would be able to unite people in Shuiyuntian under this excuse to dispatch troops to Cangyan Sea and crush it from now on.” (There’s something very familiar in this scenario.)
CH does not want to fight. RH hints that without CH entering the battle, although Moon Tribe has been weakened by years of civil war (helped along by RH), MS’s power with Hellfire would keep YZ from acting rashly. However now that DFQC cannot operate Hellfire, YZ will no longer hesitate… so whether CH wants it or not, there will be war.
RH : “The Moon Tribe has suffered from years of civil war. Their army is weak. But DFQC is very powerful. He can manipulate Hellfire. His power alone can defeat 10,000 troops. So only if you, the God of War do not go to war, will your brother not act rashly. Isn’t that so?”
CH : “What’s your point?”
RH : “DFQC can no longer operate Hellfire.”
This is news to CH : “What? On the day of the Memory Loss River he was just seriously injured. How can he not be able to operate Hellfire?”
RH : “Whether you want to or not, this war is going to happen. And you will definitely join it. You are destined to fight. Because we are both the same. I don’t have a choice. You don’t have a choice either after all.”
CH : “You don’t have a choice? You chose to conspire with my brother to disturb the current situation and stir up the biggest war in the three realms for tens of thousands of years.”
CH takes a step or two towards RH : “RH, if you still think of me as a friend, tell me what you’re hiding. Is everything you’ve done really just to resurrect the First God of War?
RH won’t lie to his friend, CH and so won’t tell him what else he is hiding.
“Smart people don’t always end up well. CH, I can lie to the world, but I will never lie to you. It might be good for you not to know the reason.”
Meanwhile Die Yi is busy starting the process of getting Li Yuan to help RH escape from karma jail. With the threat over his other daughter, Xing Luo, hanging over his head, he’s just another hopeless senior immortal who will betray SYT.
Back at the palace Fairy is discomfited by everyone prostrating themselves before her and not getting up. She’s consistent in asking everyone to get up (as she had been in MS’s body) but they don’t move. SQ’s enthusiastic greeting practically scares her LOL.
SQ tells Fairy that Jie Li has agreed to marry him, without even asking for the bride price. Jie Li overhears them speaking warmly of her and feels terribly guilty at being a spy and one who had dropped the ‘blood’ onto the Bone Orchid, which would harm Fairy. I believe that it’s from this time she devises a way to get out of the ‘poison’ trap set by Die Yi.
Die Yi is extra busy with XF as well (she really has no problem entering the Palace over and over again) as she tries to drive a wedge between XF and MS by informing XF that Fairy needs to die in order for the Hellfire to work for MS. But we only see this part as flashback later on.
More evil is taking place in the palace, this time with Fairy, as unknown to her, as her conscious self seems to be taken over by the evil spirit with Chidi’s face.
MS notices a difference in her at once. She calls him Sweety, for one thing and acts unlike the innocent Fairy.
Chidi in Fairy : “Here comes my Sweety.”
She comes forward but her style is different.
MS : “What’s wrong with you?”
Chidi in F : “Sweety, you’ve kept me waiting.” He stops her from touching him. The Bone Orchid glows red and MS (probably) noticed it.
MS : “You’re not Orchid. Who are you?””
When Xun Feng comes to report Evil Chidi loses her temper : “Why! Why are you always bothering us?” She is about to strike XF but MS puts Chidi to sleep. XF is stunned.
We see from these events how intelligent RH is. What a pity he turned his mind to evil.
XF is overjoyed to think they still have the means to bring back their 100,000 soldiers since Chidi’s spirit is in the Bone Orchid, and since the Cheng Ying sword has been reforged.
MS demands that XF give him the Cheng Ying sword.
XF : “Do you want to destroy the sword?”
MS : “Hand it over.”
But MS refuses to sacrifice Fairy. XF refuses to let him have the sword in case he breaks it.
XF kneels in appeal and apology : “I cannot do it. You are the last hope of the Moon Tribe.”
MS’s expression shows how fed up he is to hear this and that he’s getting enraged.
XF : “Your life must not be compromised.”
MS grabs XF by the neck and demands that he hand the sword over.
XF stands firm : “Brother! Only by obtaining the spirit of the Chidi woman can we save the 100,00 soldiers in Xuanxu Realm.. We’ve already failed once. We can’t fail a second time.”
(Have to hand it to XF that he does have his priorities right as future ruler, but of course we know that he’s mistaken in how to go about saving his people.)
The ingenuity of RH’s plan becomes evident when we find out that the Bone Orchid can no longer be removed from Fairy, although it was draining her spirit energy, as that would also kill her.
MS : “The fragmented spirit of Chidi Woman is feeding on Fairy’s spirit power through the Bone Orchid. If the Bone Orchid is not removed, in less than 10 days, when the Chidi Woman’s spirit is restored, Fairy will die of exhaustion.”
SQ notes that if her life is not preserved, then MS’s life would also be at stake.
(RH really came up with a great plan to do away with both Fairy and QC, bring back Chidi, and provide lots of souls during the war to feed the Evil God. Now that’s what I call a smart villain. This was what he was hiding from CH.)
XF’s point of view is that Fairy should be happy to sacrifice herself, now that she’s considered the Moon Queen.
MS shouts at XF : “Shut up! I will never sacrifice her! I will think of another way.”
XF : “No wonder our father had to make you free of love with his life.”
SQ : “Your Highness be careful of your words.” (First time SQ initiates a verbal defence.)
XF : “If I’d known this, I should have died under your sword of Hellfire. It’s better than seeing you become trash who can’t tell what should be prioritised.”
MS stands with eyes closed, taking it all without protest
XF : “DFQC, take you time to think about your strategy here. I will leave.”
XF : “I almost forgot, I’ve found out that your Hellfire was cultivated with the end of love. Now that you’re addicted to love, the love tree is restored, the hellfire would disappear. The current you is no longer the Supreme admired by the three realms and worshiped by all.”
(To an extent, I fancy XF relishes the downfall in his brother.)
MS says solemnly to SQ : “I’ve already guessed it, but didn’t want to face the truth. … I dare not imagine how I should protect the people of Cangyan Sea as well as Fairy, without Hellfire.”
Die Yi pops up once again to threaten Jie Li with withholding the antidotes to the poisons that both JL and SQ now would suffer from, unless she brought Fairy out of the palace.
SQ comes late because of the candies he had waited to buy. The shattered candies, despite SQ’s care in carrying them, reflect the situation they are all in now, with a soon to be fractured peace and evil at work in various quarters.
As if this episode has not piled on impending problem after impending problem, upon Canyan Sea, MS finds himself in the difficult position of being told to take revenge and crush the immortal world, while hiding the fact that he no longer has Hellfire.
The thought of the Moon Tribe is to kill the enemy and wipe out the shame of their defeat of 30,000 years ago. They all depend on DFQC for the victory and protection of the whole clan. What a great burden on a single person’s shoulders!

It all started so happy. Orchid spoke of creating her own phoenix crown. Reminds me of tiara of the royal family!
I read somewhere that in ep 36, bone orchid was floating underneath a phoenix crown.

Fairy prepares for her wedding. When she hears that she has to prepare her own Phoenix Crown (which represents her family), she decides to make her crown from the flowers of the garden that MS had created for her.
SWOONY Lines of Fairy (Ep 30)
The maids/ladies-in-waiting are surprised that Fairy does not know her own origins, but Fairy says her origins don’t matter to her now, all she wants to be is DFQC’s wife.
(This is the turnaround in her attitude compared to when she was freezing herself in the cave, hoping to discover her true form. No she looks only to the future, instead of bemoaning her lack of origins and the great gulf that existed between her and MS, that she had once held up as the reason they could never be together.
Their mutual devotion for each other had bridged the gap.)

@GB, and that’s the attraction of the love story. Orchid and MS just acknowledge and embrace the gap. There is no frustrating runaway from love. They just work hard to close the gap.
Someone said the bone orchid bangle is getting tighter on Orchid’s wrist. Is that really so?
The “bed” scene here is so sweet!
CH can come and go Canyang Sea so easily. Where is the security? lol. I like that Orchid is quite clear and firm in his position.
Actually I’m not sure if the Bone Orchid contracted in size… but the screenshots of them by Cyn_lynn seem to show that. However the camera did not focus long enough on the Bone Orchid for us to notice that show wanted us to see the difference.
Ah, Chidi’s 1,000+ tragic lives come to haunt poor Fairy. Fortunately the ‘sane’ version of Wan Qing/Chidi speaks with her.
I love Orchid’s confession about her love to DFQC in front of CH. She is so clear about where she stands. She is so confident that DFQC loves her. So firm. So confident. No indecisiveness.
Fairy realises she’s in a scary nightmare and starts calling Wooden Head for help and to save her.
CARE Count HAND HOLD Count (Ep 30)
MS who’s still next to her is alerted to her having a bad dream. “I’m here, it’s okay.” When he holds her hand, the evil spirit enters him.

We see him in a dark place lit by lightning and moving shimmering light on the ground that looks like his head dress or tree roots.
Evil God as his usual mass of roiling smoke and dust calls out : “DFQC!”
MS : “Who is it?”
EG : “You’re finally here.”
MS : “What is this place?”

Evil God speaks : “This is the most secret and darkest corner in your heart, and I am the owner of this place.”
MS summons a sword, saying it’s an illusion. “I’ll break the spell and find out your real body.”
MS uses the sword against the black swirling mass but EG says “You can’t kill me. If you could still manipulate Hellfire, you might be able to dispel the evil spirit and escape from here. But now you can’t do anything.
MS to Evil God : “You are too weak to trick me.”
EG : “Then, why didn’t you tell her about the Bone Orchid.” (EG is challenging MS with his act of omission. If the EG and the Chidi Woman’s spirit was a harmless illusion, then the Bone Orchid would not be a source of danger to Fairy.)
MS : “Shut up!”
He slashes uselessly at Evil God.

EG sighs : “You are too angry. People with choices won’t be so angry.” (This is the Father of Lies speaking. Usually the choices are not really choices. Evil would have circumscribed the so called choices so that the most evil choice was the most advantageous.)
“You must be in a lot of pain now. If you choose your beloved, the Moon Tribe will be destroyed. If you choose your tribe, your beloved will die. This is the saddest thing in the world. But I can save her and teach you how to release the 100,000 soldiers. As long as you cooperate with me, you will not need to make an either-or choice between your tribe and your beloved.” (Very tempting. EG lays out the temptation and waits.)
Yeah, nothing would shake Fairy from her determination to marry MS.
CH is so flabbergasted that she’d marry the man who destroyed her family.
Both Die Yi and CH can just waltz into the Palace at any time LOL.
Noted that DFQC referred Orchid as the woman he wanted to marry. Past tense now.
I read that the upside down shot that starts the scene with XF and DFQC means that the truth has turned upside down. What said is the opposite of truth.
Yes, that upside down scene was meant to denote that the truth had been turned on its head, that MS was unhappy at what he was doing, stuff like that.
EG made out there are only two choices. That is what he planted in RH’s mind. As RH always felt there is no choice.
I guess that’s the common despair when people felt trapped? That they have no choice?
We know that God told us that there is always hope…along with faith and love.
This thing about the half buried head of the goddess statue in Xishan whose eyes were opened a slit and then closed in relief at the sight of Fairy … did you see it? I never did manage to find which scene that was in.
Orchid is trying to find an excuse to forgive DFQC. She couldn’t quite find it yet. She refuses to believe DFQC is so mean to her.
That lie about there not being a choice or giving only 2 bad choices is the trick of the devil (the real one LOL). We can see the same trick in the Garden of Eden.
There is always the choice to do good and avoid evil. Among many good things, there is the choice of a better or best good thing.
Aaahhh!!! I finally saw the statue’s eyes close!!! Kept missing it with each rewatch LOL.
The great thing about Fairy is her complete trust in the ones she loves. She could more easily believe that something compelled them to act out of character rather than that they had betrayed her.
She says to MS that she knows he is not that kind of person.
What statue? Eyes closed?
DFQC now finally understands his father’s love to him. When his father forced him to take away the emotions on the eve of the war. He is doing the same to Orchid. Just to save her, just to save the people at the same time.
Even remembering the apparition of Chidi whose words should prove to her that MS could have been using her, does not persuade her.
Fairy does not believe that he’s colluding with evil.
F : “Impossible. So many innocent people were killed by the evil spirit. You saw it with your own eyes. You even cleansed the primordial spirits that could not rest in peace. You care about the people. And you are kind and merciful. Why would you…” He points the sword at her, so she cannot continue to move towards him.

MS : ‘Kind and merciful? Ridiculous. I am the supreme lord within the three realms. What? Because of the Heart Curse, our lives are codependent. So I have to pretend to be nice to you. You took it seriously.”
F : “That’s not true.”
MS : “You have told me the same lie before. (When? Was it when he saved her and said he was just passing by?) I won’t trust you again. You are not that kind of person.”
MS looks at her coldly : “CH took you away to tell you your real identity, right?” He throws the sword away. “I knew you were the Goddess of Xishan long ago. I pretended to be nice to you to take advantage of your power and recuperate the primordial spirit of the Chidi Woman in the Bone Orchid.”
(He has picked up the habit of taking RH’s sins upon himself. RH did all the bad stuff but MS is taking credit for them LOL.)
MS : “When her primordial spirit is complete, you will die. From the very beginning, I have planned everything. You thought I gave you the Bone Orchid because I liked you? Foolish. The Bone Orchid will consume your life until you die.”
Fairy recalls what dream Chidi had told her that the loss of Fairy’s life means Chidi would gain hers.

Fairy is in tears : “I don’t believe it.” (OST Zhou Shen) “In the fairy realm, Lucheng City, Memory Loss River, you risked your life to save me so many times. We have gone through so many tough times together. Do you remember you promised me that you would never lie to me. You promised me that no matter what happens, we will face it together. Why now…”
MS : “Your Xilan Clan was destroyed by me. It doesn’t matter to kill one more.”
Fairy shouts : “You’re lying. Do you dare to turn around and tell me that you never loved me.”
DFCQ is really evil now. He said all those horrible things to Orchid. He has that face too – so evil, so cold and so determined. When he gave out that half smile as if he did it all to trick Orchid, I thought DFQC was very convincing.
But at the same time, it is too convincing.
Yeah, the torture was an act of love to keep him from being tortured now by not being able to decide to kill his beloved one to save his beloved ‘all’ people.
This has been the theme as the PD said, I think. The personal love of one versus the love for all. Whether it was possible to choose without sacrificing either. The only way, show suggests, is the willingness to sacrifice oneself.
On the Xishan statue’s head that’s lying in the ground … it’s eyes were able to close once Fairy got out of speaking with Xuanwu Turtle. Cyn-lynn suggested it was that she closed her eyes in relief… but it could be that she closed her eyes to rest and wait for the time when Fairy would become Xi Yun. LOL.
Ok I finished ep 30. It felt so quick!
Good point about DFQC being a convincing actor… that was already shown to us by this Show (applaud the PD) when he proved to be so convincing in Yun Meng as the husband of Fairy, to trick Xiao Run. Wah… so good… so he was acting so well to convince Fairy that he never loved her… but his sincerity in the past outshines his great acting now.
And Fairy always said that she knows people… she can tell what’s the sincere thing. So again that plays out as Show has told us. Very consistent!!!
It really was quick… so many things were happening. I felt that you were well ahead of me so I skipped forward.
I like how the show kept adding one conflict after another, and again more after another… the situation looks so dire now.
The war is imminent.
Fairy is slowly dying.
The soldiers are still sealed.

MS is starting to use evil spirits out of desperation and may get possessed by them.
Jie Li is supposed to bring Fairy to Die Yi. SQ may die.
RH is going to be out of jail soon.
yes – that’s why we love this show so much. The character settings have been very consistent. When DFQC said all these nasty things, I didn’t find him annoying – I thought it is very consistent. He simply doesn’t care what people think of him, as long as he can protect his loved ones.
At the time of our first watch, didn’t most of us think that DFQC was saying that to save Orchid’s life so she can detach from bone orchid. Didn’t most of us think that Orchid wouldn’t buy it though? Thanks to the consistency of the characters, they behave how we “know” them. There is no frustration for us viewers that the characters are out of their characters for the sake of plot twists

Yes, everything was well executed, well planned and in control. It wasn’t like the show had to come up with new twists to bring us to the next episodes, but rather that all had been prepared in advance to bring us to the points we arrive at. That’s why we applaud this show among so many Xian Xia shows. It has so much respect for us, viewers.
yes I didn’t pause as I still remember the plot. Now I am watching to relive the lines and details. Also reading your comments also enrich the viewing experience so much 🙂
Wait a few years it would be a great rewatch so I can feel the emotions fresh all again.
I may give Untamed a try. That part I was not so sure is the BL part as I haven’t watched any BL before. As you mentioned it is like bromance so I may watch a few episodes to test it. Although I am watching Ever Night 2 on and off when I found the energy. I read up some of the Ever Night novel. There are 6 books in total! I only managed to finish vol. 1 and starting on vol.2. It gives me a much better understanding of the cultivation system. Otherwise going straight to Ever Night 2 is very hard.

I didn’t understand much of Ever Night 2. It did not hold my interest for long, so I dropped it. It wasn’t bad though, just not for me at that time. I may like it better now.

I think Ever Night 1 is vol 1 and vol 2. Ever Night 2 seems to match vol 3 and perhaps vol 4? I will have a better idea if I managed to finish the books and drama.
I found most books and dramas aren’t exactly the same so will see how long I last. Of course I am watching it for Dylan 😀 but hopefully the story would enough to keep me going. Ever Night 2 is not as easy to love as LBFaD for sure. But LBFaD is hard to meet.
