I know. I know. I’m missing “Island 1: Open Thread.”
I’m really here just for Cha EunWoo.
Let’s enjoy the face..err…the show.

Ah yes that face will always be very pleasing to the eyes. 😍 I forgot it’s coming out today.
But I can’t watch till Easter Sunday. 😄
Can you believe it? After years of watching drama, I’ve given it up for Lent for the first time.
I’m going to focus on prayers instead. 🙏🏼
I hope you and the family are well.
You know the question about the pen? I’d totally forgotten about it. I have to ask my sons. 😂
Really! You’ve given up on kdramas for Lent?!! That’s awesome!
But I hope this doesn’t mean that you’ll stop dropping by and commenting on the posts. Kdramas are kdramas. But BODs are people. We aren’t in the same category.
I’ll reboot the “Whatcha cooking for meatless Friday?” You enjoyed that.
Yes Queen Chinggu, all kdramas, cdramas and doramas.
I’m still going to be here because I still want to comment on a few threads. I’m an old timer forever. 😉
Yes, today I was going to make some prawn pasta with cherry tomatoes and rockets.
I liked all those recipes that we put up before from everyone here. 🥰 Bring it on! Thank you!
Hi @agdr03, I salute you and your Lenten observance!! I have to find other things to fast from, like impatience, grumbling, resentment, etc…etc… LOL.
Actually hunger is a great thing about fasting, it reminds me what I’m about, and how to keep my mind and heart on the important stuff in my relationship with God. We humans constantly need reminders to look again at how far we’ve gone off the straight and narrow.
I didn’t take note of when Island 2 would show up. Thanks @pkml3 for being so on top of the shows despite your busy-ness. 🙂
Kalimera @Packmule3 et al!
Thank you for opening this thread! For your infomation, Amazon Prime has uploaded Episodes 7-8 on the platform! I will most likely watch them later on today!
@Cleopatra. I wanted to download it, too, but I’ve reached my max on Amazon Prime movies. 😂😂 I downloaded “You Are My Glory” and a few classic movies for the trip. I’ll just rely on you for spoilers. 🤪🤪🤪
@Packmule3,
No worries I will write as many spoilers you like!
Oh, You Are my Glory. It is good to revisit it here and there!
Hi @Cleo and @pkml3, I have to wait a while before I get Season 2, otherwise I’d join @Cleo straightaway to spoil away!!
By the time it comes, I believe all episodes will drop for me at the same time. Patience is the key. 😑 😣 😁
Kalispera Ladies,
I just finished Episodes 7-8 from Part 2.
SPOILER ALERT BELOW!
The story continues from the incidents that occured in Episode 6.
Father John / Johan is questioning his Faith after he had to kill his own sibling.
Mi-Ho is trying to awaken her divine powers and remembering her previous reincarnation in order to built the barrier.
Van is Van and Kimg Nam Gil is gorgeous with the new hairdo! LOL
In Episode 6 we learned what happened in the past. Van didn’t want to kill Wonjeong. Goong-Tan was trying to kill her and Van was fighting him, until Goong-Tan put WonJeong in front of him and Van’s blade.
Also, we have new baddies in the story. A cult with white robes and a leader who hinted that he is immortal? He believes in a new world, the Sage etc etc… He is the one who gave those “new” powers to Goong Tan.
BTW, Goong-Tan is a psychopath devil hunter. Although they are both stripped from emotions, Van is more humane than him. He killed mercilessly not only demons, but also innocent humans.
Episode 8 ends with a cliffhanger. Granny’s granddaughter lured them to eat, while Goong-Tan went to visit MiHo.
The child is a baddie as well. 😒
@Packmule3 and @GB Unnie, I do hope you will enjoy it, as much as I do.
Lee Da Hee and Kim Nam Gil’s chemistry is pretty good! I really like watching them together! Cha Eun Woo said “Noona” once… *grins*
That’s all for now!
Hi @Cleo and @pkml3
I’ve managed to watch Season 2’s Episode 1 and 2 (or .7 and 8). My thoughts in no particular order at all.
The earlier issue of lust demons roaming around, killing and infecting other humans was never resolved but is also now never mentioned.
The boys Van and Gung Tan were ‘created’ artificially to be used as demon slayers and then to be discarded when the barrier against demons could be created. I feel Van has a point when he says instead of testing him, it’s humans who should be tested as they are often found wanting. Humans who deceived and mistreated the boys reaped what they have sown, after they created ‘monsters’ who were more powerful than themselves.
I’ve never cared for actor Sung Joon, but this role as Gung Tan probably suits him as he mainly has to brood, be angry, look evil. The girl Yeom Ji who’s looked after by Granny Haenyeo, but who calls Gung Tan samchoon is a mystery. She will be the weakness of the good guys who will want to protect her, but she may be more on board with samchoon.
I wonder what it was that Grandma Haenyeo was doing to turn those people into stone pillars or guardians. Later (Ep 2) she mentions 46 children who are miserably standing. We have no clue who those people are, who are also dressed in white and walking about the forest.
While there’s a sect thinking that they are protecting the island, there’s the Sage bunch in hiding on Tamra who claim to control people’s thoughts, which means that nothing was by chance but engineered by them. They used the Sect Head Jongryeong for their plan, to have demon slayers in the Taejangsa Temple, to kill Wonjeong. That also means that the Sage are the most powerful and the most evil of the lot, since I’m assuming they want lust demons to overrun the place. Why else do they want to prevent Wonjeong from creating the barrier?
To be continued…
So Gung Tan’s black blood can make holes in the earth and call up the lust demons. The sect, Sage will have a hard time controlling him, since he does not care for their perfect world or to go along with their plans.
Meanwhile Mi Ho wants to befriend Van although he’s a lust demon. He recalls Grandma saying that a new life with reincarnation gave humans a chance to repent and wash away their sins. The editing is bad, it cuts to the priest walking into church. I assume we are to think that Van will want to repent for having accidentally killed Wonjeong, now that she has been reborn as Mi Ho.
We don’t get to see the continuation of Mi Ho’s friendship with her teacher friend, Soo Jin. It’s a pity since she’s alone with just the men guarding her. I wonder about her own teacher/student counsellor job.
Grandma takes out the strange round mirror of some sort and tells Van to stand far away. Mi Ho can see another reality and the past of Wonjeong in the mirror. It seems like any of the energy that is associated with lust demons/Van will affect the energy of Mi Ho/Wonryeong, so he has to keep away from her in order for her to be able to create the barrier. That will be pretty awkward, given that they have to stick together for Mi Ho to be safe.
At least we get some continuation with Soo Ryeon, the school girl whom Mi Ho saved in the first half of the series. She gives Mi Ho a nice red scarf that she made herself.
Mi Ho is a good shot with a rifle. She packs too much to go live with Grandma. She’s told to bring Priest Johan as well. LOL the interactions between the boys Johan and Van is gold. There’ll be an unwilling bromance. Both of them lost their brothers.
To be continued…
Grandma is the mother of all gods in Jeju myths? Her speaking of absorbing energy from the earth etc… sounds like a form of animism. But then she also mentions elements (5? water, soil, wind. sun and sky) which a few other faiths take into consideration as well.
Van has to stay 50 meters away from Mi Ho while she ‘trains’ to control the energies of the elements, while Johan cuts wood for Grandma. Grandma’s deliberately keeping everyone apart so that they don’t affect Mi Ho with their presence. At dinner only Mi Ho gets any meat in her bowl while the poor guys get seaweed soup LOL. I wonder if Mi Ho has to wear white all the time for the energy intertwining work she’s trying to do. Even her normal attire is white.
Gung Tan is out and about and upset to see ‘Wonryeong’ returning. Now everyone, even Mi Ho, can feel a change in the energy when Gung Tan is angry. I’m wondering if student, Yeom Ji, may be pretending that she cannot feel the change. She’s such a close associate of Gung Tan herself, but can she countenance the evil he does while remaining good, or innocent herself? The thing is, Grandma should also be able to tell that Yeom Ji is dabbling with lust demons, but she seems clueless. So either Yeom Ji is really ‘good’ or really good at hiding what she’s really about. I’m thinking the latter, because Grandma does not seem to know that YJ is close to Gung Tan.
The test for Johan over his mission, is whether he’ll put humanity before the safety of 1 person. He has at least passed the first test where he chose to kill his own brother in order to keep Mi Ho and others safe.
The test for Mi Ho is if she can really take on the mission of Wonryeong, given that she’s a modern day, spoilt rich kid and given to a life of ease and comfort. Of course she’s going to grow and change for the better, and her father won’t be able to recognise her at the end LOL. (We have never seen her father?)
The test for Van is whether he can keep his demon side in check and become more human. I presume he has the unenviable task of killing his own ‘brother’ Gung Tan. It will be a parallel of what Johan had to do, when his brother was uncontrollably evil.
The interesting side character is Yeom Ji and what she’s really rooting for. She seemed like a normal kid when she bothered about Soo Ryeon, but then she’s so tight with lust demons like samchoon Gung Tan.
I’ll watch this to know what happens, however I find the editing to be choppy or badly executed here and there.
This morning, all of Island 2 disappeared from the streaming site. Last night I still saw the raw episode 4 of Island Season 2 had been put up, and wondered when it would get subbed. But this morning the entire Island 2 series is not found.
Hang on … perhaps the streaming site is now merging Season 1 with Season 2… I notice that Season 1 now has Episode 7 added to it. Another waiting game *sigh*.
Kalimera @GB Unnie,
Only the first 8 episodes have come out from both Parts.
6 from Part 1 and 2 from Part 2.
I will comment on your thoughts tomorrow!
Hmm… I lost momentum on this one. I don’t know why they made the decision to divide the series like that. I only just got into it and it ended. I may wait for it to finish airing before watching all the rest of the eps.
