That scene when Kokdu appeared at her side with the umbrella reminded me of the frog in “Yumi’s Cells.”
Remember that?

I miss “Yumi’s Cells.”
Let’s enjoy the show!
Thank you my dear @pkml3. Now that you mention it, the umbrella scene did look familiar LOL. However the expressions and the laziness of Kokdu could not be further from frog’s!
One thing about this show, it certainly adds in many little unexpected twists, makes good use of its secondary characters so that the pop-up again in different scenarios, is adept at bringing together characters that one would not expected to be connected and has introduced enough points of interest all over the place, so that if something is to blow up, it will be complicated and spectacular.
I like that the pace is good, characters remain consistent, and Kokdu has continued his character growth. It would be nice if the two shins had some godly powers other than teleporting, but they do make good use of their earthly skills.
I’m still waiting to see how Gye Jeol gets to remember her past life, whether the dog/god will ever pop-up again (maybe he’ll be a deus ex machina?) and how we are going to have a happy ending.
Kalimera !
@GB Unnie, I only managed to watch Episode 7. Since is Ash Monday for us today, I didn’t have time to watch the rest.
Hopefully, I will do so in Wednesday.
Hi @Cleo and anyone else who happens by. Surprisingly, I’m still watching this show but in a hurried and superficial way. After completing Ep 12, I actually feel relieved.
Finally, and before the last 4 episodes, with time to spare,… the truth is starting to come out.
I was rather thrown by the sudden appearance of a brother, whose existence was never hinted at. And also pleased that bad guy’s plan was at least momentarily foiled.
It feels a bit as if the writing is coming apart here and there in some areas while knitting well in others, but on the whole it’s still sometimes funny, moves along plotwise and is watchable sans overthinking the unlikeliness of some scenes.
Kalimera Unnie.
I have managed to watch until Episode 11. We are heading somewhere, aren’t we?
I am not in the mood to comment in detail, but it is an easy going story that’s why I continue to watch it.
My dear @Cleo, I heard news about the sentiment in your homeland and understand that you may be affected too. I understand something of how you feel. I’m also just watching for fun. It’s and easy watch and a good show to both criticise and laugh at and still be able to enjoy.
I liked Episode 12. Things have really taken a turn and I’m glad it took place 5 episodes before the end.
Unnie,
We can say that we – not the relatives of the deceased – are okay and numb at the same time. There is grief and disbelief and it is too soon to let this emotion go.
I just don’t have the mood to act like nothing didn’t happen at all, when it did.
For that reason, I just wanted you to know that I am okay, but not in the mood to participate in long conversations. My comments will be short and here and there.
As for the show, I really like that Kokdu is changing because of GJ. The thing is that GJ didn’t realize sooner that Kokdu was always saying the truth to her.
*correction: nothing happened at all, when it did.*
Kalimera…
I wanted to say that we are heading to the sadder part of the show.
Episode 13 was a wake up call for GJ and I am glad she remembered her past life because the things she was saying to Kodku were very mean…
Now, she knows that she is the one to blame, what decisions she will take?
Also, that lady seems to be some kind of Goddess. She was always around, when they had to follow their fate. Let us see how they will close this story. I am curious to see.
P.S. To anyone who might be reading this, just watch the show. It is a pretty decent one and the acting performances are great. Especially, Kim Jung Hyun is amazing! Im Soo Hyang is also good and I don’t understand why she gets so much hate.
@pm3 i love that leaf umbrella. wish i have one. but yes, it does remind us of the frog in Yumi’s cells. and i do miss Yumi’s cells, too.
i am watching this show… and was confused why we only have Ep 13 this week. Weh?
i hope we get a happy ending. just like Kokdu wants… after he found out how Seol-hui died in the past. she killed herself. i don’t see her doing that this time, of course. i feel like they’re wasting the rest of his remaining days. but now that Gye Jeol realizes their beginning… what will she do. stop moping girl. run to Kokdu. i’m hoping kokdu will not vanish but will be able to live a normal rest of his days with Gye-Jeol.
glad to see the brother on Kokdu’s side. i think because he was able to save his sister from death.
am i rooting for the 2nd meal lead’s love story??
After watching Episodes 14 + 15,
I would like to say that God is LOVE.
God is not a punisher. God is not someone who wants to teach you a lesson and make you suffer in the meantime. All these things are what what Humans have made God to be. Because that is what we are.
So, I really don’t like the God in this dramaverse because the viewers tend to believe that He can be like that.
We -the Human Beings- are unable to understand Love and thus we are unable to understand Him. We do know that. We cannot grasp God or his divinity, yet we tend to believe that God will act as Humans do. We are made in his Icon and yet we fail to act in Love. We are like immature children.
Why am I saying that? Because the whole concept the jakkanim has for his God in the show is not a positive one. We want to have Hope and Faith and all I see is death, punishment and destruction. Killings as divine punishment!
It broke my heart that Kodku has still to pay for his sins he doesn’t even remember after all those years and consequently all those that are dear to him, as that Grandma Shin told him so coldly.
He is being punished (!) for more than thousand years! And as a viewer should I be okay with it?
Sorry but no. Suffering is not my cup of tea…
I will finish the story because the actors did a great job bringing those characters into life, but the fact that Oh Hyun / Kodku might become a human being like Pinnochio is bad writing.
The foreshadow was not incorparated at its best capacity. I was watching Episode 15 and I was reminded by “Dooms at Your Service”. At least in that show, we had see the fairytale / darktail theme since the beginning.
All I see here, is punishment. The show deserves to be seen for Kokdu, but those two other Shins are to be avoided.
Correction: Dark Tale*
