Hi @pkml3, thanks for this thread!
Yes, we’ll take a break next Saturday for Holy Saturday, and resume on April 15th. 🙂
I note the time. See you tomorrow.
@WE, I trust that your Daylight Savings has not got you to be late or early unexpectedly. My body is already confused by unchanging temporal time and will probably be un-adjusted for days if I have to put my clock forward or back!
See you later, in less than 12 hours time!
Hello all. I shoveled the stoop. The coffee is brewed. Watch time is almost upon us.
I am on standby.
Hi @SD and @FF, I’m here too!! Yes… one minute to go!!!
Plot-twist! I’m here!!
Hi everybody.
Hi @GB and @feifei!
OK… let’s start!!!
Back to the kiss in the rain and the dropping of stick and umbrella LOL.
Hi @WE!
Hi @WE… what plot twist? The kiss?
Plot twist, WE appeared when I thought he had missed the hour.
Proof of confidence.
I’ll try that in real life. 🙂
I was thinking something great about symbolism here.
The stick is “earth” help to stand on earth.
the umbrella is “sky”, help to protect from the rain.
While they kiss, they don’t need anymore artificial protections, like they are protecting each other.
So, GB, (ahaha) and additional reason WHY they drop THAAAAAT!
I’m a living plot-twist. 🙂
OK @WE, nice symbolism.
Hah! she’s getting all angsty about him not referring to her messages and he’s merely outside her home hanging around. LOL sleep over at her place after entering a relationship just 4 hours earlier Heh!
Anyone guess why he looked around outside the car before coming out of it? Was he expecting NPC Hyun Seok to appear again? The server is off, correct? So there should be no ENEMIES appearing?
Funny couple discussion.
With some unexpected things to make it better.
Well this kind of thing could be boring and flat.
Actually what she says here to him in the car, she said before in another scene also when she was outside a car. He was inside and she was angry … about not being able to stop worrying or sleep or something like that.
This time she makes sure she gets him to give her some peace of mind LOL.
So, her brother could just shut the server to get rid of marco, instead of sending the server info to Jin-woo and continue to be in trouble??
She still addresses him as Mr. CEO. How funny to call you boyfriend Mr. CEO. Here comes Min Ju, so sharp to notice 2 cups.
He can’t quit and leave Korea! No more budget for spain. ^^
We enter the flashback game and voice over. ^^
Good joke about calling him Ahjusshi… At least he has a decent conversation with one woman after his crazy relationships with Su Jin and Yu Ra.
He’s right to not leave, or run away.
Min Ju is thrilled to have Ahjusshi in the house at night LOL.
This scene will be nicely bookended this episode.
Wait… The server is shut down right?
So he appears even without the server?
What make more sens.
Jin woo is almost Min-Ju boyfriend by proxy via her sister, lol.
I do like the Min Ju character.
@WE, but even without the servers, he sees Marco in Hee Ju’s workshop!!! Or is it just his imagination this time? It’s never made clear.
I thought he had peace without the servers. Next episode when the servers were switched on, he was attacked. But maybe NPC HS is different. He’s an enemy in direct contact with JW’s brain and needs no server!!!
LOL @WE, both sisters should be JW’s girlfriends at the same time. MJ is so thrilled.
I just realized that Hyun Suk’s as an NPC comes as he is thinking of his conversation. The seed of an idea perhaps. At least a forshadowing of what is to come.
@GB, yeah, I forgot, when it’s not flashback it could also be imaginary scene, lol. But I was there some imaginary scenes before? I don’t remember. If there are not, I presume it’s not imagination.
@SD, Min Ju is so cute.
But now we leap into a scene of a dysfunctional family relationship where evil Dad Cha blames his son for betrayal. Always he points the finger at someone else.
Second wife becomes suddenly a trophy in the fight of the two men. héhéhéhé.
@WE, I’m guessing it really happened and was not imagination.
Now we see what happened in flashback (whose flashback?) about Su Jin and HS. This is the reason why Cha did not trust Su Jin. She was having an affair with HS while married and then divorced JW.
HS also shows his awful colours here in his treatment of Su Jin. She’s just a chess piece to him. JW never knew that Su Jin was ‘stolen’ from him until this time.
Are the conversations between Yu Ra and Cha HS and Prof Cha JW’s guess?
Here a technique I need to copy and use (the difficulty is to thing about it)… take a flashback but cut before the end. Tell the following in a later flashback.
I just did in in Ep30 and 31. First a real time situation with something hidden. Then flashback reveal what was hidden. Then another flashback reveal there was a deeper thing hidden aahhhh.
Only, it was just luck I come with that.
I had not noticed in the first watch that that JW was still willing to be friends with HS, but in the flashbacks we realize that what a flawed and really tragic character HS was. We also see that his ‘doppleganger’ is Yoo Ra.
I have the same question @FF,… who’s remembering all these conversations? We saw that Park was to go for a meeting and then all these flashbacks are shown to us.
I was refering to Yura scene. As we now see the following in the bar.
After this huge flashback montage (I don’t know how many subscenes, but a lot) jump into present. TO make sure we know it’s present: new flashback on TV.
@WE, that is so complicated a way to write.
Now we see what our dear Yu Ra said to Prof Cha. At last. She sowed the seeds that would get Cha to reject Su Jin.
@GB, at this point, it’s no more “recall” subjective but “flashback” objective. So no need for someone to recall. It’s more the drama neutral narration.
@SD, Doppelganger is an interesting word to apply to Yu Ra. She’s viciously mean and calculating.
Su Jin is like an infant by comparison.
But the most angelic is our Hee Ju.
@WE, yes, seems to be an objective flashback since it gives so much info from many points of view at the same time.
Back to the present Grandma and MJ are worried about JW being on the news.
@GB, I think quite natural after a while but need practice, study, practice, have ideas, etc. I couldn’t get all what do SJJ yet. But in a way, rewatching her drama print that in a corner of my mind and step by step I can use that, hoping for doing better later.
Haaah now , we’ll get a good scene in the car and gunfight. But I is the server ON ?
JW’s manners are somewhat lacking in the dating department (LOL): ‘You’re prettier when you are plain”. Of course he is trying to get her riled.
@WE, yes, definitely needs practise. I imagine write the scenes in order first and then cut inwards to rearrange them. Sounds easy but to have it make sense we need to know when it will shed light at the right time.
Hah! The almost boyfriend who will never get to be the boyfriend. He messes up in this episode.
So much for the ‘date’
@WE yes, this scene where the server was turned on for a few minutes gives us the reason to question how far the servers need to be on for HS to appear. In this case he gets shot at by other enemies.
LOL, I’m actually still watching the earlier scene with the argument over the earrings that he does not recognise or pretends that he does not recognise.
He’s auto logged in when the server comes on.
@SD, The jealous not a boyfriend plus the server ruined the date.
The shameful maybe-boyfriend send grandma to the hospital. lol. As we needed an additional reason to dislike him. ahh great.
@GB. Yep. The fake boyfriend screwed up big time. Making grandma collapse; not a good move.
Jin Wu admits that he does not want to play his last or most effective card ie he did not want to actually get Cha to play the game with him.
How did Almost Boyfriend know about Se Ju’s disappearance? Was there a scene where HJ told him?
No excuse, he keeps arguing at the hospital. But Hee juu was quite kind, not the kind of girl getting madly angry.
At this point, he could make maybe-boyfriend a game ally, lol!
JW is acting like Min Ju’s boyfriend, keeping her company.
She prefer him than her historical drama. She didn’t even saw the end of the episode.
@WE Hee Ju is a good person. She does not retaliate in a wicked way. She only told Almost Boyfriend off.
I like the difference here in what Sang Beom did and what Jin Wu does.
At first when forcibly invited by HJ, JW sleeps unsuccessfully on the uncomfortable couch and Min Ju guesses that he was there.
Now he comes voluntarily to the house to take care of Min Ju and gets to sleep on the nice sofa. Min Ju is so relieved but at the same time JW sees that she’s upset about her brother.
Once again, HJ sees that JW’s car is outside her home. LOL.
@FF Next morning JW is acting like Hee Ju’s wife in making her breakfast LOLOL.
Ah PPL for instant coffee so subtly done!
So subtly done I didn’t even saw it. 😉
The professor cut the course in the middle of a sentence. Almost a chinese drama episode ending. lol.
@WE LOL…Min Ju was too afraid to sleep but she was happy to abandon the TV and sleep once she was not alone at home.
LOLOL good idea about making Almost Boyfriend the ally. What a great game that would be!!
Now JW steps into the lecture hall and totally breaks Cha’s concentration. The lecture just cannot continue… so it is truncated. I like this scene where JW gets a new ‘ally’. Cha’s change of expressions from arrogance to terror are good.
Even at this stage, Cha refuses to admit that he’s behind the investigation restarting. He’s still pushing the responsibility to the company.
JW knows though. Su Jin had warned him.
The instant interruption of the lecture: karma in a small way. Next the real karma. Prof. Cha gets to see EXACTLY what JW sees.
JW shows that he had so much regard for his friends, even someone like Cha, when he refused to take the easy route to make them his allies earlier to prove that he is sane and the victim of the game.
He thinks that by proving it, Cha will finally leave him to continue the quest and find Se Ju while the company has a chance to be saved.
Pr Cha make the error of his life (I mean, the last error of his life, now short)…..
Yeah, arrogance gone, and anything else too.
Jump into:
“woo, arrgh, whaatt, gassp, so it was true, aaahh”.
He will die with a bad player name, an anonymous “TESTER103”, so laaaaaack of style. Gamer community won’t even remember him.
The turning on of the server reminds me of the path to a scary place being lit up… unlike the painting on the wall of the many arches in a church leading to peace and hope.
LOL @WE… die as Tester103.
Not in this episode.
JW tells him to stay with him to the end but then to not stay by his side if he wants to live. Now he forces Cha to leave the server on and let him play the game alone. HS appears large as life!
Prof Cha will not be able to break the alliance. He already looked so terrified when he sees the lightning and rain. He then sees his dead son attacking him.
Wow, I can actually see tears forming in Cha’s eyes when he beholds his dead son, looking as he did at the point of death. What a great actor.
I do love what immediately happens once the server turns on: this army of NPC coming to take JW out. Everyone else oblivious. It’s very well done. Gives you an absolute sense of the overwhelming nature of the game now. The scary aspects of AI (LOL)>
@FF Being in alliance with JW is a fate worse than death LOL. One dies of fear and virtual pain and over and over again.
Meanwhile HJ has a mission of her own in JW’s apartment.
The episode manage so we don’t know what happen next in the situation with pr cha. What sounds for me the real cliffhanger.
Is it a new song at the end of the episode? How come HJ can see Emma in JW’s hotel room?
@SD, yes I loved how all the virtual enemies swarmed around the campus and everyone did not know it.
The music this episode was very good. There were funny and scary scenes and the music set the mood perfectly.
@WE, this time it feels like the cdrama type of cliffhanger where everything is cut right in the middle and we are stuck until the next episode LOL. Just like Cha’s lecture just now!!
I want to watch all the next episodes now!!!
Yeah SD, didn’t comment on that, but the effect of all these NPC running, invisible to people. Good strange effect, running to Jin woo.
@GB, if possible, two cliffhanger are even better than one. 🙂
I remember the great serie 24, often coming with 3 or 4 unresolved situations in a split screen as cliffhanger.
@FF, I believe that JW arranged with his Tech Friend to have Emma’s image projected in his apartment. I’m not sure if this was a ruse to get HJ out of the way or that he felt Emma would give HJ some useful info.
@WE Well we have at least 2 cliffhangers here. One with Cha and the other with HJ facing Emma. What’s going to happen next????
Is the first time HJ sees Emma? I can’t remember.
@SD, I believe it is the first time HJ sees Emma. She didn’t know before what Sang Ju meant when he was commenting on her appearance etc.
@GB also at the police station with JW not showing up. Will there be a manhunt? What will happen? But the biggest is the imminent death of Prof. Cha.
SD, yeah first time. Previously, the geek managed to shut down Emma before Hee juu enter the room.
SD, oh right, future manhunt. 3 situations now.
@SD Cha’s death is indeed imminent but it will happen later and will be his own doing. He really cannot blame anyone for that later.
@GB, sure he won’t blame anyone for that later, once dead. ^^
I’m looking at Ep 13… it’s such a tease. Does NOT start where we leave off!!!! What an elongated, protracted cliffhanger.
So everyone, we’ll resume on 15th April, after a one Saturday break.
Thanks for another fun rewatch! See you in 2 weeks’ time.
See everyone in two weeks!
Ok, in two week. Bye bye.
See you all in 2 weeks.
