Thank you my dear @pkml3! I know @FGB would like to join us and I hope for many others as well! ๐Ÿ™‚

  2. Don’t mention it @GB.

I may join you for a few episodes, time permitting.

  3. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

@pkml3, then I hope you get lots of time so that you can pop in to hold forth on the leads and the old style look-and-feel of the Show. That it was made ten years ago became more obvious as I rewatched a few episodes … it hit me how dated it felt and therefore, how slick and polished our recent shows are. But the Song Jae Jung magic still shone through!

  4. Hello here!
It’s a easy rewatch I think. A bit less complicated than other SJJ dramas.
Also episodes are shorter, 45 minutes.
There is a mystery at the end, but I think I have some kind of explanation.
No more to say because spoiler.
Also, we need to find (I probably forgot the link) the scene deleted in the last episode because this scene was too hot. It’s well know the two lead were dating, so they ended to do a too steamy kiss scene. ๐Ÿ™‚

About the main actress: no mystery, I just got addicted to her with this drama, but not many dramas with her were to my taste after, except the last one.

About the main actor: I think he leaks charisma. I feel something bland about him without to point it out. This drama is maybe one of his best. He was in “angry mom”, forgettable role, and the villains were more interesting than the other characters. He’s the main actor in one of my favorite (underated) drama “love in sadness”. But I could happy with another actor. And also switch the two main actress, have Park Hana for part2 and the other in part1. Well, here too the villain was the great role.
I hope the rewatch will change my opinion about the actor. ๐Ÿ˜‰

  5. @GB, about directing. We feel a bit the passing of time because of the image quality, and some clothes and decors.
But I think the director Kim Byung Soo is really good. He made team 3 times with SJJ. He use techniques we don’t see often in kdramas, like split screens. I remember he have great sens to immerse. We’ll see that in episode one. I remember the scene when the hero understand he switched time. And there is a kind of close-up on his face well made. The scene make us understand visually that the guy is cold blooded, very smart and guess what happens.

  6. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

Hi @WE, aside from image quality, there was something about the way the scenes progressed or showed up that made them feel ‘old’. However the sequence of events and of course SJJ’s plot are still so entertaining.

I forgot so much of the show that rewatching some parts made me wonder if I missed stuff before. Anyway I stopped at episode 5 I think.

I was trying to remember where I put my list of shows that we had discussed we wanted to rewatch. I must have lost it when I changed computer. However, I now seem to recall that we wanted to Rewatch Nine: Nine Times Travel. I believe that was also on your fave shows list?

  7. @GB, 9: if we rewatch that, I think we’ll have rewatched all SJJ fantastic dramas. 9 is not too difficult, expect the damn last episode. As SJJ said in interview she like fast paced dramas, 9 is crazy slow on the start, 3 first episodes are sluggish, but we don’t regret to take that, as the following is awesome.
9 isn’t in my fave show list. Hum, or just in my 9/10 list. So still very good.
And about ‘queen and I’… I watched these 2 dramas after W. And they feel for me like a draft for W. 9 have an awesome “multi-contextual” scene, should be the episode before the last one. Phone-booth scene. ๐Ÿ˜‰

  8. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

@WE, I see that you’re gearing up well for the rewatch! Yes, I liked Nine. The ending was odd but did not bother me too much… ultimately it sort of made sense, like another Kdrama whose title escapes me. Another time travel show where the original disappears to be replaced by the new original.

  9. @GB, I’m a bit sorry to not have so many dramas to rewatch. And I watched almost no kdrama this last year, because I was all-in in rewriting W s2 (currently in the middle of ep38, greatly improved). And some, I rewatched them a lot too much. Like “I hear your voice”.

For a reason I don’t remember I’m rewatching Jang Ok Jung currently. It’s a bit easy, as it’s my 4th rewatch. It’s comfort drama! Watching Kim Tae-Hee help my writing as I took her picture as one of the main characters. And even the characters are differents, they are both morally ambigous.

There is “while you were sleeping” I could rewatch. I think I watched it only once, but rewatched first episode many times. Same with Pinocchio. Jong-Suk dramas but mostly the writer Park Hyu Rin.

I would like to rewatch “Empress Ki”, but it’s not possible during a rewatch party, because it’s 51 hours.

Other dramas nice to rewatch, well, I already rewatched. like Penthouse. Psychopath Diary, I rewatched. Even Yumi cells, I rewatched! I like to rewatch dramas. I like maybe more than watch new ones. It’s a way to get more why and how it’s well made. Catch usefull info about writing. But I’m bad student and always forget to take note because I fall immersed in the drama again.
I would probably ok to rewatch most of the drama of my list I rated 7+.

As I’m typing this text wall, I went to see your dramalist. And I should choose a drama from your top tier and watch it. As it could be a good fuel for a later rewatch. I can see some dramas I didn’t watched yet, when they are on my list to watch since a long time.

  10. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

Hi @WE, since you come along here at this time on a Saturday, I take it that you’re still free-ish during our rewatch time.

I recall that we found that some of your 7+ rated shows coincided with mine and that’s how we knew which shows we could do a mutual rewatch for.

I like Jong Suk generally, and the shows he picks are good.

Yes, see if you care to watch any of my top 7+ shows. I rate them differently of course, ie not for the writing mainly but for the overall fun I had watching them, and to the extent that they did not annoy me. But still, I believe, I’d not have rated a badly written show all that highly.

Empress Ki is out of the question, even if it has JCW in it. It would take the whole year, and then some if we skipped some weeks.

The pity is that you find it so hard to get good French subs for cdramas. Quite a few of them are good for a watch and rewatch.

  11. Hi @GB and @We!!
Love to read you both. Hope you are both well.
Iโ€™ve been trying to watch this drama for a while since I found on prime. Didnโ€™t realize it all the episodes are out. I canโ€™t commit to this rewatch even though I want to. Enjoy!! Nothing has stuck for me lately so maybe Iโ€™ll try this and see. Take care

  12. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

Hi @Carolina, yes, do give this show a try. It’s an interesting time jump story with action in both the past and present time. You may find the characters and the plot more engaging than expected.

Just drop in as and when you can. @WE and I will always be online (all things being equal!) during the rewatch times. ๐Ÿ™‚

  13. @GB,

I’ll put a temporary sticky on this thread so it won’t go down before your start date.

    pm3

  14. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

Thank you kindly @pkml3, however, how does the sticker work? Does it pin this thread somewhere? I don’t see it on top. ๐Ÿค”

  15. @GB @WE, you both had started watching it before the re-watch! I should set aside time to watch it before the re-watch too because I canโ€™t remember anything about the drama except for Yoo In Na, the male lead on a horse and some time travel thing. Iโ€™ve got 2 weeks to do catching up, see you and all who will be joining the re-watch then. ๐Ÿ™‚

  16. Yes, @GB. The sticky pins the thread up on top. You can see it when you go to the blogsite.

I think @Feifei saw it because she just posted a comment.

  17. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

Yup @pkml3, I so seldom come in from the blogsite, I forgot what it looks like. I see this post on top there. ๐Ÿ™‚

  18. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

Hi @Feifei, not to worry about rewatching fully. I sort of just watched about 5 episodes and then stopped. I had forgotten so much of that over 10-year old show too.

Yoo Inna is just as winsome although a bit more irritating than in her later roles. Fortunately she does not overdo the aegyo.

I think I both pity and am annoyed by her manager. She adds the conflict when one would think there’s enough conflict with time travel, an annoying ex-bf and resentful rival. Of course manage also offers the listening ear and the bff that Yoo Inna’s character needs.

See you in a couple of weeks!

  19. The thing I remember the most about this drama is:
The male lead is locked in a shower!
No way to escape this damn shower because someone else put brooms in the lock.
    ๐Ÿ™‚

  20. One of my all-time favorite dramas. Rewatched it last year when I returned to Kdramas after a 6 year hiatus, and still loved it to pieces. I won’t be doing a rewatch in tandem with all of ya’ll, but my rewatch was recent enough that I may join in on the conversation ๐Ÿ˜€

  21. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

Hi @Stacy! Great! Please join us for the chatting, even if not for the watching. It’s fine whether you can be online with us or not. Just add in your comments whenever after each Episode and I’ll usually be back to read and likely to respond. ๐Ÿ™‚

  22. @Stacy: what we do here is mostly a conversation. The rewatch in background. ๐Ÿ˜‰

  23. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

@WE, yes, for us your description of our rewatch is accurate. The conversation becomes the focus, and not the Show! LOL. Usually it helps if I have time to do a pre-rewatch. Then we can mostly chat without watching avidly. If I don’t get to do much of a pre-rewatch, I’ll be going oh, I don’t remember that! LOL.

  24. This is also available on YouTube in North America.. Last time I tried to do a rewatch with this show, I binge watched it instead. I will try to exercise more self-control this time.

  25. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

Hi there @Mon mor! Yes, The Queen and I is supremely binge-able LOL. I hope to see you on Saturday! Is it in just 4 days? I thought it was still weeks away, I’m losing track of time!! See you this Saturday!!! ๐Ÿ™‚

  26. How does the rewatch work? do we all watch at the same time and comment?

  27. Mon Mor: You are all excused.
It’s what happen when rewatching one episode of a SJJ drama…
… addiction, rewatch all in a row. ๐Ÿ˜€

  28. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

    Hi @monmor,
Yes, what I do is I have the drama playing on one part of my screen and I’ve this blog open (on the correct Thread) on the other side. As I watch I may comment or I may pause the show and read what others are saying and respond then play show again, OR and this is not so necessary but if you like to be able to play show through while commenting at the same time, I might have watched enough of the show BEFORE the rewatch so that instead of watching it avidly, I’m reading and commenting more than watching.

It’s up to you how you prefer to do it. Once in a while when there’s a long comment to read, we yell ‘PAUSE’ and tell the others where we are at in the Show and we may pause together to let a person read, respond, catch up and then yell ‘GO’ and we’re off again.

It’s all pretty fluid with some of us ahead and some behind but we more or less end within the same 10-15 minutes. The fun part is the reading of our comments, reactions, questions while we watch. We are after all watching it together and not alone.

For the Queen and I, I deliberately only watched about 5-6 episodes some 3 weeks ago. So it’s only slightly fresh in my mind. I’ll still be going into it as if I’m watching it for about the first time. ๐Ÿ™‚
