I go first today. I rewatched all the drama!
I didn’t remember maaaany things. Even the last scene, I found new juicy details. π
I will miss watching this episode with everyone. I am Traveling, so there is no time. Even if there were, I don’t Want to be up at 6:30 AM. Folks with that Dedication have my admiration.
Thanks @pkml3!
Hi @WE and @monmor!! Have a good experience in your travels @monmor. See you next week.
@WE, so you got sucked in all over again! I know I forgot a lot too, and am watching as if it’s the first time. Last week I watched just 1 episode ahead. This week I don’t have time, to do that but I’ll be back for the Rewatch today!!!
Rewatch in 15 hours and a few minutes and counting!!
@GB, yep, almost like a first watch. Just I see better details, how plots link, moments looking like W draft.
@MM, hi, see you next time then. Good travel!
Hi all, I forgot we have someone coming at the our exact start time. It should be a short visit so I am going to start now and hopefully will be able to come back in at some reasonable time while you are still watching. I got my coffee early!
Hi there @SD, you’re up extremely early! Yes you can start watching first and leave your comments. We’ll come by to read you and respond during the rewatch.
Dear Friends, I have no Internet at home and cellphone is prohibitedly expensive, so today I will not be able to join you. Hope you have a great time today and will read you properly soon! πΈ
That’s unfortunate @FGB. I was going to ask you if you would add your comments to a thread for Sono Onna Jitterbug…?? If you’ll put in your thoughts, we can have a thread up for that delightful jdorama.
See you!
I didn’t watch ahead for tonight’s rewatch ‘coz I am sucked into Lupin.
Hi @FF, You’re watching ‘Lupin’ the French Mystery Thriller series?
@GB, yes I like that series. I finished 4 episodes today.
Hi GB FF SD.
Hi @WE! About to start in 30 seconds!!
HI @WE.
OK Let’s start NOW!!!
They have to interlace their fingers when holding hands!
Ok, the moment when she help him by being his girlfriend. π
Dong Min humiliated. ^^
@FF Interlacing fingers more convincing than just a normal handhold, LOL.
Now the bitchy actress has a great time provoking Dong Min.
To boot, he have to suffer the teasing of the bitch. π
She really know to push every button that hurt. π
Hui Jin admits that she’s not smart. Now that BD mentions disappearing from the airplane in mid-air he too sounds not too smart. Maybe her lack of smarts is catching!!!
Bong Do is a player, he puts his face so close to Hui Jin’s. Poor Dong Min so disgraced.
@WE, she’s an evil bitchy witch!
HJ has not choice but help BD make a quick getaway before the interrogation by Dong Min.
@GB, not so much. she was pretty adorably bitchy in this scene, ahah. I have seen worst in many dramas. Even in my own. π
Hahahaha the great Dong Min is defeated by an extra.
Its Hui Jin’s turn to tease Dong Min.
Dong min take another shit-shower, lol.
But she will pay that later in the drama. π
@WE, even HJ teases and provokes Dong Min. He might have had good intentions in ‘saving’ her from BD, but he never seems to accept that he’s an ex and not a current boyfriend to HJ.
Hi-5 @FF, same comment from me!
From the fake queen in the present to the real queen in his own time.
It took me a while to realise that all this set up was done before he was even in the taxi. But when did he have the time to do all this set up?
Now he accomplish his plan, thanks to the fast travel by plane and another time.
His secret visit to the queen (not so secret) will have consequences.
Is Bong Do trying to prevent Queen In Hyun’s assasination?
@GB, I don’t know, I’m a bit lost in the historical plot. π So I won’t look too much for “put things under the carpet and all is ok”.
It’s so strange that BD is dressed in modern clothes but waiting with sword outside the correct wall of Min Am’s house. However we next see him in assassin’s clothes.
@FF, yes, BD is one of the faction who is loyal to the Queen.
Notice the similitude with W. He changes time x2. So he goes in the house in the current time, then change era, teleport in the villain house. Like Kang Chul do when he goes to see the prosecutor.
@WE, yes, it’s similar to ‘W’. He uses modern day transportation to get to the right place and then jumps back into his own time. Everyone is shocked that he’s not on Jeju Island.
I am lost in the historical plot too.
The historical political context is exactly what happens in this era, same as in other dramas about this time. I guess it’s not difficult to understand for koreans.
So we have multiple overlaps of backstory … letter being read by the king, while the order to kill is being written at the same time ??? We are never sure exactly when the letter writing was done beforehand. All the time is reversed. Now we see Min Am sending the letter to the killer. Then we go even further back in time to see how BD’s family was killed.
The cat save the situation. ^^
Hi all I am back. I was very confused by the taxi scene the first time I viewed it. How would he get on a plane with a sword? Where was the sword on the plane? I now think he must have ‘died’ and come back and be in a second taxi to quickly get to the palace with a sword and get so unseen. Thoughts?
The letter send to the king make the guards trap the killers. The hero plan worked!
Chonaaa. Sweet moment King and Queen.
@SD, I was wondering the same thing. It’s more plausible that he returned to the past and back to the future and then back to the past again in order to keep appearing and never get caught, plus get his sword.
Did the history tell BD that the King would visit the Queen that night? He practically predicted it would happen when he met the Queen.
@WE, the timing had to be just right!! The killers had to receive the letter and get to the Queen’s courtyard and just after this the King’s guard had to arrive to stop the killing. A couple of minutes late and the Queen would have been killed!!
@SD. I give up on that. I was supposed to sell the sword. So it’s another sword. All the things about clothes change or this kind are hidden because the writer is tired with that too, and it’s too much painful to watch on screen. She did once, and in a later episode we will see a cache where clothes are. Here, it’s elipsis, there are time we don’t see the hero but we guess he have time to get what he needs. Aaaaaand, let’s take that like that to simplify our lives. ^^^^^^^^
BD speaks as if he’ll return to Jeju and await Min Am’s coming. But we never see him back in Jeju.
I guess in order for him to escape he had to ‘kill’ himself so that he could disappear?
Finally he doesn’t give the proof to the king about the villain because he choose to save the ginsaeng (she was hostage).
And he play it very cool, saying the villain he wasn’t here but still on jeju island. Like he’s a ghost.
@WE, I sort of thought of the sword as like the horse, it returns with him. But he has not sold the horse yet, right? HJ does not yet have her car (I watched the later episodes too recently, so I do get confused), but later he does get his father’s sword back when the time like switches (I think of it like a train, same destination, different track, ha ha).
Editing technicians make fun of Dong Min. damn.
So because of 1 thing in the letter being true, the King believes all of it and acts. BD gets his position back. So that means he would have to appear in Jeju?
All we see is that he visits his faithful retainer who gave him the talisman. She asks if he’s going back to Jeju. He has to return to the future to thank HJ before returning to Jeju. So we never get to see how he does it but he must have made multiple trips to the future.
Also, I really like the decor in the prime minister’s room (? I forget his position). All that super large calligraphy in that small space is intimidating.
Oh Here, similitude with W. The heroin look at newspaper about her relationship, like do Yeon-Joo about newspaper saying she’s maried with Kang Chul. We can see the scene in W is better and more funny. The writer improved. π
@WE, yes, waht SJJ tried out here, she improved on in ‘W’.
I’m glad that instead of a tiresome manager Jo, in ‘W’ we only have the hardpressed Park Soo Bong. That was a real improvement!!
@GB, but Bong Do needs to die before he can travel to the future. No one was trying to kill him when he was hiding behind the scrren in Min Am’s room.
Her pink dress is a crazy style from 2012 korea. π
@FF, I believe that all the times BD needed to disappear from his time, he ‘killed’ himself. It’s a case of how else could he melt away…. unless the rooms had a separate secret exit.
@GB, Soo-Bong is gold. Best role of Lee Si Un. But I still like the manager here. The relationship is good and consistent. The actress does it right.
@FF, I also have problems with the return to the future behind the screen. Does he “kill” himself? He has the sword.
Good idea to use the resto card to hide. π
Make Dong Min uneasy.
@GB, I should think so he must have killed himself.
LOL fortunately Jo had taught BD to shake hands and not to kiss for a greeting … otherwise he’d wonder if he had to kiss Dong Min LOLOL!
I like the focus on the eyes when the prime ministers minions cross the wall and enter the courtyard. It sets up the unease about the courtyard being empty. It would be interesting to know whether that was a directorial decision or in the screenplay.
Heheheh! BD is shaking hands with Dong Min but smiling at HJ at the same time!!!
True @SD. I don’t think we have a copy of the Script to know if SJJ wrote the eye movement in or whether it was a Director’s call or even if the actors themselves had suggested it.
So BD comes back to do HJ a favour in return for her help. He’s told by Jo to act like a good boyfriend and he seems to take this order all the way to the end of the series!!!
@GB, I can’t be 100% sure, but it’s very probable this eye movement is from the script. It’s how are written dialogs scene in W, with empty lines just saying people action or expression.
@WE, this would be ‘eye action’ in the script LOL.
He does not know what ‘corny’ means so how is he supposed to keep acting corny for HJ, silly girl!
The focus on eye movement could also be a director’s call?
I have wondered throughout this series if Buddhist temples were viewed at this time as sanctuaries (similar to churches). The maid seems so free of fear for herself.
@FF, it’s very common. Something happens, how people react? It’s often short lines of description. But you can’t loose track of this. When it involve meaning, emotion or importance in the plot, it have to be written in the script.
Actually, Dong Min knows how the industry works. He knew from the start at the airport that they have to show the public that Bong Do and him had to reconciled so that the drama ratings are not affected by the scandal.
@WE, got it.
Time to go. Have a good week. Bye bye.
Bye @WE! I’m watching Ep 8 now.
Bye @WE and @GB. I didn’t finish too much after you. See you next week.
Bye @WE, @GB I am re-watching the episode. It just zipped through just now.
Bye @FF and @SD. See you next week!
Bye @GB #SD, we shall continue next week.
