@pkml3 Heheheh! Thanks for the thread and it’s a Yes and No. Kisses there are because the FL is the real player with this guy. She does not play around with other guys but she certainly plays our ML with multiple attempts to trick him into being kissed.

Spaghetti and tiptoe kisses are a bit later… Tiptoe came first at the end of Ep 11… spaghetti was all the way in Ep 15. Yes, I skipped on ahead to rewatch before the rewatch!!! πŸ˜†πŸ₯°πŸ«£πŸ€πŸ˜

  2. Now we know the reason HJ thought of BD when brushing the kiss from DM off -foreshadowing? Not that we needed it.😍. I just started watching.
And now that I have this comment Here I do not know what to do with it other than to send it early. And I can see if I start getting email responses.

  3. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

Hi @MM, are you referring to the DM kiss that already happened in Ep 1 or so? Or the one that will come later?

My comment in my notes is: HJ brushes her teeth happily, thinking about the kisses of the night before. So unlike when she had washed out her mouth in repulsion after DM had force kissed her in the past.

This 😘😁🀭 compared to this πŸ˜«πŸ˜–πŸ˜€πŸ«’

  4. Hi @MM @GB.

  5. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

Hi @FF, right on time! Did it rain over at your end of the island?

@MM, I made a mistake, I meant the first DM kiss in Ep 2 not Ep 1.

  6. @GB, threatened to rain but no rain at the end.

  7. Starting Episode 8 (Yes, I know I am behind…)

Han Dong Mi really shines as the immature man that does not compute that the World is not an extension of his will. He asking the director to poison Queen In-Hyun is hilariously petty. It is even low for the really petty female actress.

Will not bother you, will comment when I finally catch-up πŸ˜‰

  8. @GB I may be confused. So many kisses!

  9. BTW Hello @FF, @MM, @GB!!! πŸ˜€

  10. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

@FF, it finally rained enough so that the air is cooler. So humid!!!

  11. Hi GB, MM, FF!
Today is the slow and sad episode after the time reset crisis leading to amnesia. A bit similar to W ep9 about time-slot (half the drama).

  12. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

Hi @FGB, good to see you nevertheless! Enjoy Episode 8!

  13. I was remembering a comment I read in an earlier thread But I may be attributing it to the wrong kiss

  14. HI @FGB!

@GB, yes the temperature has come down a little.

    Shall we start?

  15. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

@MM, It’s time to START now!!!

  16. Hi FGB, good ep8. πŸ˜‰

  17. Hello @GB, @FGB, @MM and @FF. I just topped off my coffee. I am ready to start (and should be for the entire episode today!)

  18. Lets go!

  19. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

@WE, yes, I felt it badly when our couple were not together on the screen. It is a difficult episode and going into a more difficult one, in terms of their being separated.

  20. HI @WE, @SD yeah to have you through out the episode.

  21. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

Actually @MM, the Ep 2 kiss did have her thinking about BD but she was only wondering why he acted and spoke funny, because they had only met the first time, the night before.

  22. Hello @WE!!!

  23. Hi SD. Glass of whyskey here. πŸ˜‰
Now, she will have a car accident?!
    RESET.
Because the talisman is cut in half.

  24. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

Hi @SD. We’re at the time when HJ is driving and the time disappearing thing starts to happen because BD’s life is being threatened. This means that already, the talisman effect is being replicated onto something else other than the talisman itself.

  25. Again in the hospital room. Gosh, they go there even more than in Subway in this drama. πŸ™‚

  26. Clever to put her back in the same hospital room as previously. The audience can quickly surmise the situation and Relate to what she is expressing as her concerns about taking time off work. We quickly realize she remembers Bd.

  27. So Hui Jin was involved in a accident when Bung Do was attacked and the talisman sliced apart.

  28. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

@WE, I was re-watching this part and it seems that even before the talisman was cut, the time warp/disappearing thing started happening to HJ. Her 2 months with BD disappeared and was replaced by a timeline of events that her present consciousness is not aware of.

HJ finds that she’s the only one to remember BD and that he had not entered the current timeline of everyone else who had once met him.

  29. Hi @WE! The use of the blurred scenes in the car interspersed with the fight scenes and the cutting of the talisman. Very effective in letting us know that something is not quite right without knowing exactly what it is. Makes us want to know more.

@WE, hope the whiskey is good!

  30. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

@WE, the repeats like the hospital room and DM’s desire to poison QIH are deliberately repeated almost exactly to give us the idea that they are in a time loop of sorts. But it was a time disappearance for HJ and a loss of memory for BD.

  31. Hui Jin is experiencing memory lapses, she remembers things that others do not while other people speaks of thing that she does not seem to recall.

  32. The crazy good idea:::
His ex is now her boyfriend!!!!
    Sooooo gooooooodddddddddd.
Get slapped, poor guy understand nothing.

  33. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

I like DM’s utter confusion… he looks like a little boy getting slapped for something he didn’t do.

  34. I like the Comment from HJ That they can always kill off the queen, Referencing back to history and to DMs Pettiness.

  35. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

@FF Yes,… but the issue with HJ’s time started even BEFORE the talisman was cut… according to the parallel view of what was happening in the past while she was driving.

  36. Hi all,
We see that HJ is physically affected by event from 300 years ago, wrecks her car and is hospitalized. What follows this is most confusing to me as we learn of a different reality than the one we had been treated to in previous episodes. DM is now her boyfriend, etc!??

  37. I am Really enjoying his acting here. How he strides into the room like a king in a very dramatic fashion. And then
is obviously confused and concerned for her.

  38. The actor is good when he does:
    “aaaaaaaahaaaaaa”.

  39. @GB, even the bed spread is the same from hospital scene to hospital scene, and hitting the tree, and HJ only getting slightly injured. It’s an interesting way to use a time loop, major things change (Queen In Hyun’s death) and very minor things stay the same — DM’s comments and HJ’s accident, the hospital bed spread.

  40. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

Hi @LL, glad you can join us. Read above for my take on what’s happening to HJ.

  41. @GB, yes it seems like HJ’s car blurred vision and car crash took place before the talisman was slice.

  42. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

@MM At first DM does not seem too bad as boyfriend, but later on he really annoys me.

To HJ her history has be re-written as if BD had never had a part in it, but the worst thing was that DM has been her boyfriend for some 2 months and insists on behaving like he ‘owns’ her.

  43. @GB, I’m a bit confused about time repercussion. Anyway, it happens in the past, but I’m lost about the time connexion. It seems it happens before the talisman cut? Or just the talisman cut happens before, and the montage make feel us it’s simultaneous?
Well, I don’t have answer, need to rewatch again, lol!

  44. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

@WE, yes the DM actor is good. It’s his character I don’t like LOL. So his acting must be good.

  45. Her memories will merge. So she will maybe remember she had sex with DM yesterday? ahhah.

  46. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

@SD, I believe later on we’ll see that although QIH is not known by that name, she is not dead. Her presence will remind BD of the other Queen IH.

  47. @GB, think about it rather that way. It’s a likeable character because we like to hate him. ^^

  48. She is to be rem
    embering both timelines

  49. Poor HJ, feeling so lost and DM starts feeling jealous over Kim Bung Do.

  50. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

@WE trust you to think about sex.

My take on the memory merge is that another HJ in the parallel timeline merged into her and those memories start surfacing but without the emotions attached. She knows them as thoughts of her and DM but without the connection of feelings. Her emotions are only for BD.

My theory about what’s happening is that their love connection where sincerity was involved, was already starting to replicate or replace what the talisman could do.

  51. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

@FF, I don’t mind that we get a jealous DM, but he’s also a petty and somewhat mean DM from time to time.

  52. This sadistic writer love to make the man gone using the fantasy concept and the woman cries. Every-Single-Drama.

  53. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

@WE, yes, seems that SJJ likes the same pattern of who comes, who stays, who disappears, etc. She’s been playing with this theme over the course of her several dramas.

  54. HJ with tissue paper bits on her face, I want to hug her. No one remembers what she remembered.

  55. @GB I like your take on the memory merge

  56. Again a similitude with W. She say the photos are gone, and Yeon-Joo says she even don’t have a photo of Kang Chul.

  57. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

@WE, we might do a Rewatch of Nine: Nine Times Travel to compare the coming and going. I thought the premise for the time travel there was quite smart.

  58. @GB, I like your comments about the sincerity of HJ’s feelings being the most important aspect of her memory and that her gradual recollection of her current (new) timeline occurs without her feelings being involved since she is already emotionally attached to BD. There is a nice logic to it.

  59. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

@MM, we never get any explanation from the drama, hence I have to make up something semi-logical to explain it to myself LOL.

  60. @GB, the concept in 9 is a bit similar about time-delay or repercussion and memory merge.
Here the heroin merge but the new memories are mostly “plot” without emotion, and she remember the “story” her love for BD.

  61. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

@SD, the reason I emphasised sincerity is because the talisman was made and given with sincerity too and managed to work miraculously. In the end, this seems to be an important point. Without sincerity and the right motive in the use of the talisman, events will not work out well.

  62. I would be very keen on a rewatch aof 9
and W as well, Which I am doing on my own since I know it was done here recently

  63. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

@WE, yes, that’s right about Nine. I recall that there we had the repercussions of changing the past even more than here because the past was only a couple of decades ago or something like that and affected the protagonist directly.

  64. Here the writer have a challenge: two leads separate, a static situation, but have to make it not boring and avoid slow pace. Difficult mission.

  65. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

@MM, I hope to do a rewatch of Nine… we’ll see as this Rewatch comes to an end. If no one is going away in December, we might continue or we might take a short break and start the Rewatch in January 2024.

  66. There is a parallel here in what Hj is experiencing. Remembering that she was with DM. To later in the show, what happens with the real Queen and BD. The pain of thinking they have betrayed.

  67. @MM sorry you couldn’t be here at W rewatch time. It was fire here! ^^^^^^^^^^^
But let me know your opinion. Eventually, you can ask Pm3 to re-open the threads to post your comments.

  68. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

@MM, you mean the parallel of a betrayal over the Queen supposedly having an affair? Yes, that’s true too.

  69. Cringe joseon music during psychiatrist visit. lol.
Will she let herself be convinced that it’s just a dream? I’m sure she’s able to do that, but maybe she will get a proof that can’t be a dream.

  70. Talisman and recitation of words works only for Bd. Without talisman the word β€œabsurd” helps restore BD’s memory a bit giving viewers a glimpse of hope that he will regain more. Then when DM is unfortunately the one who shows up at telephone booth both he and HJ use the word β€œabsurd.” Almost as though writer is telling me it is indeed absurd to attempt to unravel the time travel elements and just relax and enjoy the dramaπŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚ Or is that just the easy way out.

  71. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

@WE, the cognitive dissonance is great. She’s the only one to ‘remember’ while at the same time starting to get memories of what she did not experience. However emotionally, she’s more connected to her BD memories.

In BD’s case it’s the opposite. His retainers all remember but he has forgotten his last 2 months. He did not lose time but memories. HJ lost time but not her memories. Interesting!!

  72. @BD YES Without getting into spoilers

  73. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

@LL, it gets more hopeful now that BD is looking for the talisman. He starts using ‘modern’ terms that he himself cannot recall knowing. It’s like he has muscle memory to say those words but not mind memory to accompany it. In the same way that HJ starts getting memories of events that she didn’t experience, BD starts acting in ways based on events in a future he cannot remember!

  74. As usual, I have fallen behind. Even though HJ seems like a fragile frivolous person, it is clear that SK is not used to her crying, implying that she is not as emotionally fragile as she often comes across. It is a nice touch. And @WE I think that the interactions HJ has with the various people in her (new) reality and her confusion and very real grief do carry this section nicely even though action wise not much is happening.

  75. Here she comes to the phone booth.
Obvious reference: The phone booth of Doctor Who, a character from british TV traveling in time using this phone booth.

  76. I thought she experienced both timelines

  77. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

@SD, nice point! Yes HJ is not emotionally fragile. She was in shock that her real world turned out to be unknown to everyone around her. I’d cry like crazy too!!!

  78. Tricky territory here with a psychiatrist. Conjures up thoughts about the controversy regarding Implanted fake memories.

  79. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

@WE, Yes that phone booth. I was thinking of the possible items that linked BD and HJ. The phone calls through various phones is definitely one of the linking items.

Ah now BD hears about a woman from Yoon Wol. He will start to think furiously about what he has forgotten that involved repaying a woman.

  80. Why does it seem like the giseang lady remembers something that Bong Do does not… about BD meeting a lady whom he has to repay her kindness?

  81. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

The other linking thing is the rain… When it rains 300 years in the past, HJ also gets rained on in the present. I guess it’s the shorthand to say both BD and HJ are connected in their feeling of the wrongness of things.

  82. It rains in present. Time connexion, it rains in the 300 years past too.
Everything is done so we believe he will come!!!
    Ahahah, sadistic writer.
But we know what will be the twist. T T

  83. I am getting confused about timelines and memory. I was thinking that the reset went back to just before they met and instead of their meeting Hj and DM Had gotten together in what would be a different time line. And that she is remembering experiences or at least memories from both time lines.

  84. @FF, it’s because none of the actions of BD have been erased, only his memories.

  85. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

@FF, all of BD’s friends remember everything of the last 2 months including what he told them. Only BD has forgotten because the talisman that tied him to time travel to keep him safe from dying, was meant only for him, and was cut.

  86. A man comes. Suspens……..
… well, it’s just the jerky BM. ahhhhhaaa.
    What a plot-twist!

  87. @FF It is interesting that the other characters in the historical time have memory of what happened although BD Does not and the opposite is true in the present

  88. @WE do you mean that the people in BD’s time remembers everything except BD who does not remember anything that happened in the past 2 months? GOSH! What a contrast to HJ’s experience.

  89. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

@MM, Yes, I believe that there was a parallel timeline where HJ dated DM, however when time merged for her, the first timeline took precedence in her memory and the parallel timeline only came back to her in a trickle.

  90. @FF, yes. But he’s so smart that every details sounding strange will make him want to discover the thruth. πŸ˜‰

  91. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

@FF, Yes that’s right. You can see my comment on this above.

  92. @GB I am really impressed by the way BD Comes to realize through his vocabulary use that he must have been somewhere else.

  93. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

@MM, BD had difficulty believing his servant that he had been able to disappear and travel in a flash… so it took himself saying things that did not make sense to get him to realise that what his servant said was true.

  94. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

That was fast! The episode seemed to go by so quickly although our OTP did not spend time together.

  95. @GB, smart character in the unknow facing a greater thruth about reality. Able to find out something unbelievable. Just the situation of Kang Chul in W at episodes 3-4. ^^

  96. @GB, @MM I finally got that.

  97. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

@WE, Yup… similar to W, but of course!! LOL.

  98. I suppose BD memory was erased from the very first time he travels in time.
And HJ memory merged with a different timeline starting at the very first time she meet BD. Additional elements merge too: historical books telling a different history.

  99. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

So Everyone,… how do you all feel about a further Rewatch once this one is over? @MM, @WE and I are interested in Rewatching Nine: Nine Times Travel by the same Writer.

  100. This is supposed to be a sad episode because the leads are separated but was so busy figuring out the memory merge and memory loss that it didn’t feel sad at all.

  101. The sword is another element that shows up multiple times. Like the horse, it travels with BD and like the horse comes back when he does. Only this time it disappears for a couple of days (it was stolen, ha ha).

  102. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

@WE, Yes, the history kept changing based on what BD did.

  103. In contrast to how BD Remembers through his vocabulary use, HJ Remembers a dream and wonders how someone in her dream could be smarter than she is

  104. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

@SD, I came to realise that items in contact with BD when he time travels will travel with him … like the horse and the sword. This is a good piece of logic because it saves BD in the end!!

  105. HJ also shows her logic skills in this episode is well when she remembers what BD said about ‘Man proposes … God disposes…” and thinks “How can a person in my dream be at a higher standard than me?”. Plus she realizes that she shouldn’t remember everything in a dream so much more clearly than in real life, especially entire conversations. In a later episode BD comments that he wouldn’t be attracted to a stupid woman, here we get a glimpse that maybe HJ is not as brainless as she sometimes appears.

  106. Was it 9 Γ— 9 travel that featured a phone booth Of trauma? I am very interested in continuing to explore these ideas about time travel. As presented in this screen, writer’s works. Complicated enough without transmigration as well. Which I am looking forward to in a few upcoming.
    Dramas

  107. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

Another good point @MM. However in HJ’s case, it was not a case of trying to be convinced of the reality of the events of her memories, but got her deciding to wait for BD as promised. It was just unfortunate that he still could not remember and so he didn’t go to meet her.

  108. 9 is nice. I have to watch for first time Chicago Scripwriter.
MM talk about King2Hearts on another thread.
If people propose early enough, I have time to watch the drama now.

  109. Yes that went by very quickly. I am glad I prewatched. I hope everyone has a good week.

  110. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

@SD, Yes, that’s true. HJ is only ‘dumb’ selectively but she is able to reason things out for herself and that’s why she’s not swayed by DM or Jo.

  111. @MM, yes, here!! It’s the proof I was talking about (but didn’t remember). How someone in her dream could be smarter than her?
That’s said; I made dreams where I compose music better than I could make. lol.

  112. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

    @WE, I don’t mind re-watchin Chicago Typewriter (2017). I recall liking it a lot.

We need to plan in advance LOL.

King2Hearts is a bit long… 20 episodes. I watched it so long ago when it aired. Also in 2012.

  113. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

@MM, Yes you’re watching <iA Time Called You with transmigration, aren’t you? It’s a great show!

    See you next week!

  114. I go now.
    @GB, 9 is also 20 episodes.

  115. @WE @GB, I did not watch Chicago Typewriter but it is fine if it is selected for re-watch. I did my first watch of Liar Game with your re-watch. I don’t mind re-watching Nine time time travel too.

  116. Bye bye everybody, post your favorite dramas you think have “meat”, enough dense to rewatch.

  117. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

Bye @WE! Oh dear 20 episodes! Well they go by very quickly.

  118. Bye for now, I may miss the next 2 re-watches (omg) coz I will be in SK.

  119. I just noticed that the use of the word ‘absurd’, not a word that can be spelled with the Chinese characters and not a word that BD knows; is similar to HJ’s remembrance of a phrase a dream told her that she never knew before. It is a nice parallelism between HJ and BD.

  120. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

OK @FF, we’ll put out a Notice asking who want so to watch. I think we’ll go with Nine first so if you wish, you can watch Chicago Typewriter on your own beforehand then rewatch with us. Or you can do the same as Liar Game and just watch the first time with us.

  121. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

@FF, Enjoy your trip to SK!

  122. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

@SD, Yes, Writer SJJ put in much thought in bringing in parallels that tie the OTP together. One of those signs that they are fated!

  123. I have not watched either Chicago Typewriter or Nine Times Nine (or King 2 Hearts) but there is plenty of time for me to get a watch in (or most of one) if we decide to do a rewatch. I would also like to rewatch Durian’s Affair, although I don’t remember the time travel aspect being particularly convoluted. But it does explore the ideas of fate and reworking the past in the present, and the cinematography is gorgeous. I am not sure many people have watched it though. The screen writer sounds interesting, although from the write up on MyDramaList I am not sure I would really want to watch anything else she has done,

  124. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

@SD, while Durian’s Affairs sounds interesting, the comments in Asianwiki give us warning that the ending may not satisfy.
    https://asianwiki.com/Durian%27s_Affair

I take it that the ending is left open and no one can guess the actual ending? This alone won’t stop me from trying it out… it will give a lot of meat for discussion and conjecture LOL.

  125. @WE,@GB Yes, regarding phones and phone booth…a more comfortable place for HJ to wait during rainfall would have been her car. Thus writer giving a clue of phone booth’s importance to their relationship. Looking back using phone was one of BD’s earlier accomplishments in modern world. These red phone booths are so iconic that it is sad they are gradually disappearing.

  126. @GB its the last 15 minutes of the last episode that doesn’t satisfy. It reminds me of The Heiress, where you can infer the ending, but you would much rather see it. Still it was beautifully filmed, like a little bit of visual art at the end.

  127. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

@LL, true… pity about the red phone booths that are ‘disappearing’. I fancy some may be retained as show pieces although they may no longer have working phones in them?

They look like the Tardis of Dr Who and it was a great idea of the Writer’s to use a couple of them as a connecting point. Not only did meetings take place in or because of the calls made from it, but it was a ‘dating’ spot (later episode).

So it connected our OTP through voice, through physical proximity (it was really cramp in there for 2!) and through reference to the time travel like with Dr Who.

  128. One of my favorite photographs is one of my daughter in one of the red telephone booths in london.

I would also be totally on board for chicago typewriter rewatch as well After nine times nine. It would be fun to continue with the same script Writer and do some compare and contrast Right after QIHM rewatch.

  129. @GB Yes, I watched the time called you. And then re watched someday one day. I ran out of steam towards the end of the latter. Love both of them. There is another show with moon in the title About a Joseon person Transmigrating into the body of a celebrity in the present. The female lead is a bodyguard And they have history together. Sounds like my kind of show

  130. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

@MM the Writer of Chicago Typewriter is Jin Soo Wan. She also wrote Twinkling Watermelon, Kill Me Heal Me and Moon Embracing the Sun. I only watched Kill Me Heal Me among her works. Unlike SJJ, she does not only write time jump/travel dramas.

    https://mydramalist.com/people/15944-jin-soo-wan

Yes, it will be fun to see if we can pick up on what’s different in the 2 writer’s concept of time travel. πŸ™‚

  131. I watched “kill me heal me”recently and was glad I watched it but did not fall in love with it. JISUNG was really good and funny. He is an actor I really like. The only Korean video I own Is “save the last dance for me “because the copies online were just terrible.

I did not think “capital scandal” was very good Although it had its moments. I feel like I should watch “moon embracing the sun” but every time I try, I stall at the first few episodes with the children actors. I have seen a few clips and did not feel the romance.

I just finished rewatching W So a rewatch of nine times nine would be a nice set for me.

I very much look forward to future rewatches.
Thank you for sending me the link of this screen writer’s dramas.

  132. @MM, you are in big trouble with “Moon Embracing The Sun”, if the first part doesn’t attract you. The child actors hooked me, because at this time, they were the two most famous girls, one always playing nice girls, the other mostly bad girls. And they confront in this drama for the first time, in their usual roles.
Then, the drama is quite good too. But the lead actress as something cold, indeed making difficult for the romance. The other one continue to be a tortured vilain, with good scenes when her nerves break.
I still prefer a lot more “Jang Ok Jung”, a bit the same kind of period drama, but without shamanism, and shorter childhood (about one episode).

@GB, a writer with very diverse dramas.
I dropped Kill me Heal me, because of the slapstick and crazy histerical screams from the lead actress. Then I was angry about how it was overated and never want to hear about her or this drama. But time passes, and now I could give it a chance. Also, I enjoyed the actress in some others dramas.

Maybe we made a list of time-travel dramas? I means the ones with back and forth, or something exciting, not the formula: travel at the beginning, return at the end.

From memory, a list of the ones I liked a lot: 365 repeat the year, Kairos, Signal. And ofc the complicated Sisyphus, plus this one about butterfly-effect comedy: Manhole. Or this one about timeloop comedy: Feel good to die.

“Someday one day”, I dropped, too slow, well, boring. And that damn music playing again and again, just turned me mad. But I consider watching the korean version “A Time Called You”.

  133. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

    @MM @WE @FF @SD @LL @FGB

I actually did look up time travel dramas. There are different sites with recommendations or lists.

A comprehensive list is on MDL. However I may not consider these necessarily the best.

Yes, I did put on my personal list just last night, the Shows that @WE mentioned as well! We seem to be on the same wavelength. Feel free to add more Shows… it does not mean we will watch everything listed but we will have an idea of what’s in our minds. Also we are not compelled to watch something just because some of us wish to do so. It’s all free and easy, as you wish and when you can!! πŸ˜„πŸ˜ŒπŸ˜ŽπŸ˜ƒ

    Time Travel Rewatch Options
Nine: 9 Times Time Travel (I’m calling it 9:9 for short)
    Chicago Typewriter
Durian’s Affair (I have not watched this yet)
    Kairos
    Signal
    Tunnel (maybe…)

    General Genre Rewatch Option
King 2Hearts (does not include time travel)

    = = =

I did not complete ‘Moon Embracing the Sun’ either. Although I did watch ‘Kill Me Heal Me’, I can’t say that I was thoroughly engaged by it. I just marveled at how Ji Sung could play so many personas.

I found ‘Someday or One Day’/’A Time Called You’ extremely smart and compelling. ‘Reset’ was good, however I already did a rewatch of this not too long ago and will not want to do another one.

  134. @GB I enjoyed “live up to your name” and would re watch. I also enjoyed “signal”and “tunnel”. Like you I have not watched the durian affair yet. There were some Chinese time travels shows I watched, but I’ll have to look at those titles.

@GB @ WE Interesting that you comment on the nature of the time travel. I observed in my recent W reWatch how much more they go back-and-forth between the worlds than in QIHM. It made for a much more action oriented edge of your seat type of show. It was only towards the end I was really engaged with the romance, unlike with QIHM.

  135. Life on Mars and Circle are both shows I have had my eye on but I have not found where to watch. I enjoyed “dreaming back to the qin dynasty”but I don’t remember it very well So I do not feel I can recommend it. I enjoyed “shining for 1 thing “and “legally romance” both of which I have watched more than once already.

  136. @@WE I have had Jang OK Jung On my watch list for a long time. I will put it up higher in my list now that you recommend it. I expect it to be heartbreaking but getting to watch Yoo Ah In may make up for that?

@MM, I really liked the Korean version of ‘Life on Mars’. I watched it first and then I watched the original and compared them. I definitely prefer the kdrama version.

I watched ‘Circle’ too, but was not really taken with it. I believe it was the one where we asked if a Person A without memories was the same Person A… Conversely then, could the Being (not necessarily human) with all the memories of Person A, actually be considered Person A?

    πŸ€ͺπŸ€―πŸ˜Άβ€πŸŒ«οΈπŸ˜‚

  138. I will look again to see if I can find life on mars somewhere. Do you have any ideas where I can find it? I was having a Yeo Jin Goo Phase when I was looking for a circle to watch

  139. Yikes, reading Your comments about circle gave me the shivers- The conversely part.

  140. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

@MM, ‘Life on Mars’ may more likely be found on other sites like Dramanice, Kissasian, etc.

  141. Google tells me life on mars is on disney. Maybe I will bite the bullet.and pay for Disney for a while so I can watch some of the other shows that are also there. Your other suggestions are options too if I can find a good version. TY

  142. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

@MM Do not mention it and you are very welcome. I hope you find the Shows that I liked to be up your alley too.

  143. @MM, JOJ is intense on emotion, good love story because there is a manly actor- Yoo Ha In and a womanly actress- Kim Tae-Hee. It follows the real history, even it sounds like incredible plot-twists. Politics of this time were agitated. So it was used a lot in movies and dramas.

By the way, Jang Ok Jung is the exact same time than Queen In Hyun’s man. So this drama show the conflict of this queen and the concubine Hui Bin (in QIHM, it’s the actress-bitch taking that role in the drama they shoot). There are a lot of conflicts between every people, so it’s easy to be hooked.
In my top 10 of best dramas. I love the main character and actress, a gray character. And it’s the good narrative of older sageuk, fast paced and hitting hard, but with a cinematography a bit better. Because the main character start as a stylist, there are wonderful costumes and colors. The drama is free on youtube with a good quality.

You are right about W romance. QIHM romance is better because the drama focus more on this. While W, there many other events, plot-twists, etc. So the romance is better during a rewatch than first watch, once we know the plot.

@GB, Circle narrative concept is original, two times half the drama. But like you, I loose a bit my motivation, and not because I disliked it but because I was busy with something else, I put it on-hold…

  144. I decided to watch my dearest season one this afternoon. It is an immersive watch. I am fast forwarding through the more gory parts. I feel guilty not watching what other people have actually experienced. But after all, this is fiction and I am watching it for entertainment.

    Hi @WE,
It’s likely that a group Rewatch of some Shows, accompanied by our comments, questions, and answers, will enable us to enjoy and complete those Shows that we did not feel motivated to complete before. 🀭😝😁

We might put ‘Circle’ up on the list as well if we still have steam to continue with the Time Travel/Fantasy genre.

  146. @GB, Most of the time, I’m getting a bit angry about the drama. It’s slow, nothing happens, boring, BORING !!! How can you feed me to the brim with something SO BORING ?!! What?? People says 10/10 ?? OVERATED !!! DROP DROP DROP !!! Now let’s go on internet. REVENGE. Write to the fans HOW much it was boring. WHY it was crap. Precise analyse of the boredom. Everybody angry, fighting. These people made me waste my time with their BORING drama, these deserve to suffer too!!

Well… The usual process of droping. The punchy and healthy RAGE QUIT. πŸ˜‚

But Circle was a soft quit. It happens sometimes. It doesn’t look really like a drop. More, let’s end this later. Or something else to do. Or “oh, let’s start episode one of this other drama”. In a way it’s even more CRUEL for the drama.
The drama see you going away slowly. And you say to the drama “it’s not your fault, you are good, it’s just me”… The drama screaming GAJIMAAAAAAA.

  147. There is also a Slam in to the wall stop. An example of this- binge watching my dearest thinking that all the episodes are out. And then suddenly, there are no more Available to watch for 4 days. The upside was that I did not stay up all night last night.

  148. The other Upside is that I have now discovered another actor who I really like and there are many more of his shows to watch.

  149. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

LOLOL @WE, I enjoyed your ‘lovers version’ breakup with a drama. I believe something about Circle may have annoyed me. I probably ghosted it and disappeared.

I don’t mind being cruel to a drama… drop suddenly cruel without a word of farewell (ghosting it heartily!) or drop gently cruel with assurances that I may return but without the confidence in those assurances. I should go through my MDL Plan to Watch list and throw out loads of dramas that I shouldn’t have planned to watch, or maybe I lied to myself (and to the dramas) and just kept them hanging with a faint hope that I might give them a chance.

@salteddust, missed you on the Episode 10 Rewatch.

I wanted to find out if you’ll be needing the Rewatch start time to change once Daylight Savings ends on 6 Nov 2023. If so, will it be good enough to move the start time half an hour later? Let me know!!!
