Alarm set for tomorrow. I hope everything is ok. I remember there was the time change, but not sure it was last week or this week. Gosh, I loose easely track of time after being involved in so many kdrama flashbacks.

Not having any Daylight Savings where I am, I’m a little uncertain… when we fall back to Standard Time, I take it that what on paper says 6.30am now, becomes 5.30am? Those affected might want to wake up later . . .

For us people here in the States, we get an extra hour of sleep after Daylight Savings Time ends because we move our clocks back an hour. Used to be, if we forgot to adjust our clocks before going to bed, we would rush to attend the 7:00am Sunday mass and find ourselves the only car in the parking lot because we were an hour early. lol.
Hello everyone. I am looking forward to today’s rewatch.
I am recovering from an almost broken leg. We spent Thanksgiving on Vancouver island. First time I have had fresh seafood thanksgiving meal. I have gotten over my Fresh oyster aversion.
There are dangers there such as cougars,wolves,
bears,oysters, mushrooms and slippery boardwalks. Lucky for me I only encountered the last and took a dive into an old growth forest. X-rays tell me I did not break my leg, but it sure was black-and-blue. Hence a Justification, if I really need one, for binge watching k dramas.
We also saw the seaside sculpture of items found on the pacific coast of vancouver island after the 2011 tsunami.
About daylight savings time here in the middle of canada- It is like” Something wicked this way Comes” at this time of year. Shifting the date we change the clocks by a week from before halloween to after halloween a few years ago has really changed the feeling of halloween eve and the days leading up to it.

So when does your Daylight Savings time end exactly?
March twelve to november five is daylight savings time here in ontario. I think it may have been in 2005 that the actual date changed From before halloween to november five. Just to add to how complicated it all is. When I was thinking about this last year I came across an article about how there were protests in Southern China. Can’t remember the details but it made for interesting reading. The protests might have been about time zones.
Communicating with loved ones in different time zones that do or do not have daylight savings Is a challenge every year. For example, here in Canada, there is a section of British Columbia that does not do daylight savings time. And that just happened to be where my son was living. Now he has moved to somewhere that does have daylight savings and I am eternally confused. Of course thirteen or fourteen hours across the Pacific is always a challenge.

Thank you for the link. I look forward to looking through it. Now we are still on daylight savings and will move back to standard time on november fifth. In the past and I am not sure when this changed The date for going back to standard time was in late October instead of early November So The time when it started to get dark on halloween evening shifted.
When the time changes, my start time for this rewatch will be eight thirty a m. I believe without fact checking
What strikes me about time zones and daylight Savings time is that it is at least as political as it is geographic. For example, here in canada We have been talking about doing away with daylight savings time for a long time now But coordinating that with our neighbors to the south seems to be a challenge. In canada, as well, the geography of the time zones and the borders of the provinces Make for confusion.
If the time will be 8.30am for you, then you’ll not necessarily need our rewatch time to be shifted to be later.
I’ll have to ask the others if they need the rewatch time to shift.
I am remembering now that last year when I was thinking about all of this, I read something about how daylight savings time was imposed on Japan and maybe other parts of Asia after the second World War. That may have been when I read about protests at certain factories in southern china. Again I have not fact checked this but i’m relying on my memory.

@WE, yes, Episode 9 into 10 has such a long stretch where the OTP are not together. However there’s enough happening so that we don’t find it too boring.
Jo is worried that HJ is upset over her imaginary boyfriend getting married, but tries to comfort her anyway. LOL her expression when HJ still behaves like the imaginary boyfriend is real.

Happy to be joining in today. Enjoyed opening of ep 10 where we see HJ learning that BD has been offered a wife, and her jealous reaction to this. Therapy obviously has not dampened her deep feelings for him.
The lines are nice: she’s affected by the “fiction” of her dream like a drama.
Irony: he’s maybe single because he couldn’t forget you, (when it’s opposite)
Hi @LL! Now we have BD finally meeting the real queen. If not for her remembering for him and dressed as the queen, he would still not recall much.
The emotional layering in the conversation between the female lead and her assistant is very interesting. HJ is feeling jealous About something very real to her and her assistant is thinking how ridiculous this is to be jealous of someone from 300 years ago. Every once in a while, h j says how it is About a dream to Keep her assistant From going Ballistic.

I really like the first twenty minutes of this episode. The feelings about separation, Possible infidelity, Confusion Are well illustrated in the scenes, and the scenes flow interestingly from 1 to the other. For example, Just after b d is asking himself what he was dwing with the queen, Where HJ is shocked when DM touches her. And then he realizes she is upset. Because it is him and not because he is a thief.
Joy of Missing Out (JOMO…) missing out on shows but doing it joyfully so I’m JOMO-ing.
We get lots of flashbacks to make up for the lack of couple time together.

By the legitimate new boyfriend.
@MM, so true… so many hints of infidelity… and HJ finds DM repulsive LOL when all his fans are crazy about him. He has to go down to the level of his stomach in order to get her to look him in the eye.
I don’t like that he kissed her though. He knows she does not want it but he kissed her anyway.
Hah! We saw an earlier scene of HJ washing out her mouth after DN’s kiss.
Jo has had it up to her brain with HJ. I understand how she feels but I still don’t really like her style of managing HJ.
She has to watch her mouth now.
But this kiss gave her the impulse to break up.

Where the Queen and BD encounter each other at the palace is so well done in how it builds To the scene where he is taking off his clothes and wondering what on earth he did. The first time I watched this scene. I felt like the Queen was coming on to him.Now I think it is Not that at all, but Only seems that way because BD cannot remember. Perhaps there is an element of her liking him since he was the only one who really seemed to care for her for a Period Of time. The first time I watched this scene I thought she was being very careless but now I see it differently.
The scene where b d is wondering what he did with the queen then moves immediately to nwhen h j is thinking about him and d m comes along.
While we have HJ wanting a break-up from DM, it’s Jo who wants to break off their work relationship. Later we’ll see BD making the break from his time as well.
@MM, yeh, and BD is disgusted he could have done that. Really not the (how we say?) ethic or protocol.

@BD He is bewildered that he might possibly have done such a thing. He can’t believe himself. He shows a vestige of memory of h J when he asks who would dress up as the queen and that he thinks Queen In Hyun.
The assassin head is quite smart but didn’t get to hear the crucial part of the conversation that was overheard. I can’t catch what BD managed to do to get the better of the assassin.
Then, BD have a chance to find out the truth because the right-hand man is greedy and would like to use the talisman for himself. Everything make sens!
I like the series of flashbacks that indicate that QIH is important enough for him to risk his life over finding out. In fact he became impulsive like HJ when he decided to risk his life just to find out if the talisman would work.
Wow!!! The moment he comes back into present.
With hand brandished to the sky, holding the talisman. So classy.
Then— fast flashes, he remember everything!
The monk says: “Isn’t this a gift instilled with Yoon Wol’s loyalty to you? So even if another person takes it, it won’t be of use…”… This is the clue to explain how HJ could call BD over 300 years of time later on.
I like how he somehow sees the QIH that he’d been having flashbacks about. Finally he sees her face on the big screen and smiles.

First I think he was just so relieved that the QIH he kissed is this modern day one and not the actual queen. LOL.
Now the tension is caused by everyone and DM wanting HJ and DM to be a couple when she’s just not in agreement at all. And Jo trying not to rock the boat by not telling HJ that BD really called… that he is not imaginary after all.

I like how Jo almost has puppies when she realises that what was a ‘dream’ is real and that now it’s she who has to adjust her ‘reality’.
I like the music later when BD worries that he may never get to meet HJ because she does not call him and he cannot reach her.
This ep clarifies some of characteristics of the talisman quite nicely. Gisaeng ( sorry, can’t remember her name) says he doesn’t need it anymore as she wants him to remain in Joseon period. BD is led to its whereabouts, knows its function occurs “on verge of death”, and quickly sets up time travel to occur. We learn from monk that talisman will work only for BD. Only for BD and all the implications of that!!!
The manager take a role of antagonist often. Now because she forbid HJ to call back the number of BD.
BD thinks about HJ while standing in the phone booth. He keeps trying to reach HJ. I like the music and how he decides that he would not not just stay put and wait. He actually finds out where she is and goes to seek her out.
The scene when she’s in the car.
For a reason (a shot on the driver we don’t see well), I was sure the twist would be he’s the driver. But no.
I really like how he reappeared in the future Holding the tallisman out in front of him like a candle Against the castle wall.
Just as everyone around HJ, from hairdresser to Jo to DM is behaving as if she has no other boyfriend except DM, HJ turns to see BD. She never lost her memory, only her time of 2 months… and recognises him at once.
I like his expression and hers when they finally meet. It is as if no one else exists.
Fortunately he’s so tall, she can see him through the crowd LOL.
Now she sees him. It took 1h30 screentime (2 episodes), and SJJ reduced this time to < 1h in W (1 episode), to accelerate the pace.
@MM, yes that was a very stylish appearance, arm still outstretched… out of the blue with his shadow cast on that wall.
@MM, yeah, nearby a castle wall. This shot is “super-cool” !!
@WE, thank goodness SJJ didn’t lengthen the time the couple are apart!!! Shows that do that, usually flag and viewers lose interest.
@WE. He is in the future Bewildered. But then he sees her on the large screen and all his memories come back.

When I was new to kay drama I did not understand product placement in Korean shows. “Because this is my first life” open my eyes to that and I enjoyed the way they did that.

Y, agree with both of your comments. It was one of the first Kdramas I had watched and much about the culture of SKorea was new at the time…the sauna experience, rooftop apartments, poor treatment of daughters-in-law, etc.
My very first k drama was something in the rain. I learned very quickly about small apartment living, horrible mothers And sexual harassment at work.. At the time I thought they were so crazy in love and I loved that part. I could not understand why and how their relationship disintegrated.
This show sent me on a son yejin phaseand I followed the ml for a while Until he defected to apple or disney or whichever one it was.
