Moon in the Day: Eps 9 & 12 Open Thread

The thread is open.

In her novel “Beloved” Toni Morrison popularized the term, “thick love.” It means a love that is all-consuming, unbreakable, and inexhaustible. Thin love is not love. Thin love is incapable of surviving separation, misunderstandings, pain. Only “thick love” lasts forever.

Here in this drama, I get to see “thick love” in action. That’s why I’m still around and watching this drama.

I should have my short write-up on Episode 7 up soon. (I know I’m behind….)

Presenting “thick love.” From Episode 7.

  1. Kalimera @Packmule3!

    Thank you for the thread!
I was so disappointed on Han Min Oh last night and that’s I am going to say for now.

  2. The first part of Episode 10 is so good – but I won’t be able to finish it any time soon – they some how made all the implausible choices by ML, FL and brother leading up to this point – work! Enjoy watching! *still not explained …. yet, is why Do Ha believed that his killing FL was a solution to their karmic fate given what he says to his brother about taking a life.

  3. Finally we are heading to the good stuff of the show!

Young Hwa will remember what happened in the past.

I was right that Han RiTa killed the evil step-dad. That’s why he became an evil spirit. Whereas DoHa is a lost soul.

@Good Twin, he didn’t know that his step-dad was behind Han RiTa ‘s killings in all her past 18th reincarnations.

The way that evil spirit manipulated or hypnotized others to do his bidding, while those souls got karma is awful!

Not only he killed others. He corrupted those he used and made them kill or hurt innocent people.

I know that Doha will kill him, but still there is no other Divine Being out there!? He spread havoc and it’s OK? *upset*

  4. @Cleopatra – First warning – only read ahead for speculation as to how Doha came to die at Ri Ta’s hands. Otherwise skip!

Speculative Spoiler warning: Based on what you said that she killed the step father, was it the step father who possessed her to kill Do Ha? They’re covered in blood in that scene perhaps she was killed and the evil spirit took possession?!

  5. @GoodTwin,

It is one speculation that has crossed my mind as well. Since the beginning I was trying to understand why did she kill him If she loved him.

The thing is that we will find out, once and for all…

  6. @Cleopatra – despite a “to do” list a mile long, I went ahead and finished the episode – I couldn’t resist. What a strong set up to the final episodes. We learn that Doha wasn’t aware until now that there was a third party intertwined their fates.

I liked the elder monk’s advice to Young Hwa to look into her heart which leads to her realization (or admitting to herself) that she loves Do Ha/Jun Oh. It reminds me of the famous line in “Emma” when Emma says to Mr. Knightly: “Then I examined my own heart and there you were. Never, I fear, to be removed.”

  7. Kalimera @GoodTwin!

Yes, the episode was plot revealing. It was like we were knowing all the truth before they did, I mean DoHa and Young Hwa about the evil step-dad.

Yes, the elder monk’s advice is pivotal in making Young Hwa remember what she did wrong in that Silla reincarnation as Han RiTa.

Han RiTa chose to avenge her parents like a good son would do if she was a man, but still that had repercussions in causing her bad karma. She not only killed the evil step-dad, but also DoHa. We don’t know why she killed DoHa yet.

Still, the possession theory is not fulling working, mostly because she was alive and kicking. We saw that they had bloody garments but no wounds.

What we certainly know is that Han RiTa took a decision that altered her life and DoHa’s consequently.

From what we know so far, I don’t think in this lifetime they will have a HEA.
Most likely they might meet again after the bad karma is ended.

  8. Episode 11

Finally, we saw what actually happened in the Silla period.

Let’s see how it will go now that the evil step-dad’s existence will be revealed to Doha.

What a lunatic! It was okay for his minions to kill Doha. But Han RiTa didn’t accept his wedding gift. Instead, she killed her father in law.

As for what she killed Doha you need to watch her reasoning at that specific time.

    That’s all for now. ☺️

P.S. Have I told you before that I am not optimistic about their relationship in this reincarnation?
I am waiting for a new reincarnation after the bad karma is gone for them to have their HEA… 😉

  9. P.S.2 Can you change @Packmule3 the title of the thread until Ep. 14? Thank you in advance! 😁

  10. @Cleopatra,

Let’s do until Ep 12 here. Will open a new thread for the final week, Eps 13 and 14.

I think it will have a happy ending. The tarot card lady was asked by Yonghwa’s bestie for a “foolproof charm” to ward off ghosts and she pulled the Lovers card. I’m no Tarot expert but I’m guessing that means love conquers all.

  11. Kalimera @Packmule3!

    Okay!

I think they will have their happy ending too, but the show is channeling “Bulgasal” Vibes all along for me.

Let us see how things will go after tonight’s episode!

  12. I think the director was trying to give the viewers hope that this won’t end badly, that they won’t have to die and leave their next meeting up to chance. It’s been 1500 years already. He watched her die 18 times already. That should be enough punishment and atonement for his sins. And he learned, didn’t he? I was wondering why he gave that speech to MinOh at the hospital stairwell.

He said, “No life gets saved by killing someone. You just almost killed someone. In order to save your brother’s life, she risked her life so many times. If she had died, you would’ve lived in hell because of the guilt. Because that’s what you’ve done.”

He was talking from experience, right?

Maybe they can go to Antarctica together or something.

  13. DoHa definitely talking from experience here @Packmule3. And that part was pretty awesome when he actually said it in that scene. I mean how come MinOh even believed for a minute that by killing her, his brother would be back?

Well, we shall see. I am glad you are more optimistic than I am about having their HEA in this lifetime!

  14. Yes, I’m prepared for a tragic ending until the epilogue showed the tarot lady pulling the lover’s card.

I just skimmed through Ep 11. I’ll watch it in full later when Ep 12 comes out.

Another thing: CEO Seok was doubling up in pain from his ghost chest wound. DoHa’s neck wound must be hurting like hell, too, but he wasn’t going to show his weakness until it was all over. I forgive him for not wanting to carry YeongHwa’s camping equipment. lol.

  15. I am also curious because Joon Oh’s body has terminal cancer. DoHa is not experiencing any pain a all? He seems not to or he hides it pretty well?

Still in the end, he carried all her things! LOL

  16. Seriously, today I felt sorry for DoHa. He has suffered enough! Let him rest!

I understand how Kang Young Hwa is feeling, but really he is the Good Husband of the 1.500 years… Such a gem. ❤️

    @Packmule3 when he said “I can’t kill you!” I yelled! 😁
