  1. Deleted last hot scene of the drama:
    https://www.facebook.com/groups/1559959427645749/posts/1666611860313838/

Content change from the official release at 01:35.
Once done, the ending credit (with images on the cinema screen) is the same.

I don’t know where come from that scene. Was is in the screenplay? Or something director and actor did for fun? Anyway, it was deleted.
Because it’s too hot? Or because it’s awkward?

  2. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

Thanks for the thread @pkml3, and thanks for the ‘naughty’ link @WE.

I’ve having a full weekend in church only to come back to find hot kiss scenes in my mailbox LOL.

  3. I am excited about today’s rewatch.

    NOT QUITE A Spoiler

This drama is coming together for me better than it ever has. The ending makes a lot more sense and I am laughing at my and others’ reactions initially to the ending.

  4. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

Hi @MM, what were your initial reactions to the ending before?

  5. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

Hi Folks, are we ready? 30 seconds and counting… We start NOW!!!

  6. @Hi MM.
Strangely, I prefered the drama during first watching. I was trusting more the love story. Now, I’m more jaded and see it’s very cheesy. In the other hand, I’m more impressed by the time travel concept and screenplay tricks.

  7. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

Hi @WE, I’ve started and paused.

So we’re 1 year down the road and I assume with the talisman burnt, HJ has forgotten her ‘love’.

  8. That it was ridiculous!

  9. It looks like she has a memory reset. Or rather a time reset. BD did something about that last episode? I don’t remember what.

  10. Hi @WE, @GB, @MM. Morning coffee at the ready and I am ready. Very upbeat music at the beginning. We have heard this music before, but I am forgetting (already) if it is at inflection points or just in general.

  11. @GB, action take place one year after here?

  12. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

    @WE, he burnt the talisman.

Now she gets commissioned to do something that will place in the same space as BD.

  13. Hi SD.
So, because she ended her drama as Queen In Hyun, she’s the first they think about for doing a documentary.

  14. I am at 8 minutee and so far I am enjoying how thw writer/director bring us up to date, minly through the dialog.

  15. @GB, my bad. It wasn’t enough this poor talisman was blackened, he burnt it!

  16. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

Hi @SD. I don’t recall much about when the OSTs are being played. However after last week’s sad ending episode the upbeat music tells us that this episode will be happier (and likely have a happy ending). It’s to give viewers hope LOL.

  17. Hi hi everyone!

  18. Ok, we get the info “one year later” now. What’s fun, it’s about the past. But as it’s connected, we guess it’s one year too for the heroine.

  19. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

Hi @FF! Glad you made it.

  20. I also note that HJ is much more confident compared to the beginning of the drama.

Did others catch the faceshot of HJ on her manager’s phone. She has a very annoyed expression .

  21. Hi FF.
BD wrote a paper. I don’t remember we know what. We should have the text, and this paper will be found in present time for sure.

  22. @WE
LOL I liked the romantic cheesiness at end quite a bit both times quite a bit! Also thx for naughty scene.

  23. Hi @FF. @MM I missed the faceshot of HJ. Amusing. I was looking for a reaction to BD’s name. Not even the slightest reaction as she reads the script in the van. Her memory has evaporated.

  24. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

@MM, yes, this HJ is much more confident and able to decide to take on the narration job without consulting Jo.

  25. Meanwhile, BD lets his horse decide where to go.

  26. Good irony, when she says “because of this woman, he ruined his life”… and it’s HER!! 🙂

  27. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

It’s interesting that even 1 year down the road he still has short hair.

  28. One year later BD still kept the short hair style.

  29. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

Yup, he does not know where to go so the horse’s choice is as good as anybody’s.

He’s discovered to be alive. The king feels he owes him so lets him remain as dead.

  30. Hi LL.
Too much opponent. He cancel the fight. Maybe he could win, but have to kill people for that, so…

  31. @GB, we had the same thoughts.

  32. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

Yeah, great irony. She thinks it was a 1-sided love. Wrong on both counts.

  33. In a year it would be a few inches longer so he must be cutting it. ?hoping still he can return or is this a continuity error?

  34. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

    @FF, yes, I noticed.

BD is too easily recognisable. His only goal now is to run away in order to survive. To be caught to pay for a crime will be an even greater crime to him. I guess it means that all his memories would be gone with him, all the time travel and love that he had with HJ would have been wasted.

  35. @GB, I had the same thought about the hair. Why not let it grow. Far less noticeable. Deliberate? Seems unlikely for BD. I mean hair can be recut. Plot error? Or is he pinning in some out-of-character way? Or is this earlier? Not 1 year out but days out? (I think though his hair remains short)…

  36. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

He is still so skillful at fighting.

  37. @WE yes I thought the same about his decision to not fight

  38. So, she doesn’t help her manager to meet the other guy?!!

  39. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

@MM, I guess he wanted to keep something of the future life with him so he kept cutting his hair.

  40. Also he promised the king he would never show up again.

  41. HJ is now able to reject Dong Min confidently and not cowed to obey DM’s request to be his girlfriend.

  42. Good contrast between the two leads. Because HJ doesn’t have memories of loss and this was what BD hoped, she functioned in positive manner…bought a house, accepted role in documentary.
Ob other hand (at 10 minutes) BD who has memories of HJ is shown to be aimless and sad, wondering from province to province to avoid detection as he is thought to be dead.

  43. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

@FF, yes, she’s so much better with DM now. He’s still such a childish brat with her but she can stand up to him.

  44. @FF, I was hoping for DM a relationship with the other actress, but he’s too bad at seduce her.

  45. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

@MM well yes there’s that too. He wanted to remain alive and never show up again, so the king had granted him that. It would have been a crime to break that ‘deal’ with the king.

  46. Nice shots with black and white. As if by chance they are at the exact same spot.
And crisis of sobbing for no reason (well, kind of supernatural one).

  47. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

Good point, @LL. Keeping the memories was not a positive thing for BD. Losing them worked well for HJ.

  48. Did HJ feel BD’s presence? She felt a sudden rush of emotions.

  49. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

@WE, yeah I thought Jo would have ended up with DM’s manager by now, but still no go. And she never gave him enough encouragement so now HJ’s lie that she has a boyfriend means she’s lost her chance with him.

  50. So sad when they are both in the palace courtyard. Different filters for each of them and the filters blink in and out I think to illustrate the brief merging of timelines, their connection.

  51. BD unpack his bag. What crazyness he plans? I think he want sincerely kill himself. Because… Sniiiifffff, he can’t live without her. T T

  52. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

@WE, @FF, it seems that they had to cross the same space, at the same time although in a different century. She actually walked through him while passing through the same spot. Time gap that he had slipped through before was eradicated by this. The emotions that she had had one year previously return. The emotions always come first then the memories… was that how it was before?

  53. Now the poor girl cries like crazy without knowing why, while he commits suicide. T T
    How romantic!!

  54. In the scene in jail where he is thinking about his agreement with the king he looks up at the beams in the ceiling.

  55. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

@WE, I felt that he decided to kill himself when he remembered that he could not fulfill his end of the deal with the king. He was not supposed to show up in that world again, but he had. So after all he had to die in order to be gone from that world.

Next he remembers the purpose of a tie… not to hang himself with but what to do, nothing else as handy for stringing himself up with.

  56. Is the rain a symbol of crying here ? kkkk 😀

  57. @GB, yes it seems like the emotions always comes before the memories.

HJ sobbing so hard and now she remembered the player!

  58. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

The weather will cooperate to set the mood for suicide and grief in different times. With the emotional gap closed, she can get all the emotions.

But now as he’s dying, she gets the memories as well. Interesting.

  59. @GB, Oh Yeah! Such a guy can’t kill himself for a girl. Have to be a ROYAL reason. 😉

  60. @GB, @MM, it’s not only that he goes against the king’s wishes that dictates BD not being seen. It’s that it risks anew the destruction of the kingdom and the chaos that it would bring.

  61. @WE, this is not the first time HJ is crying in the rain. There was this other time that she was also crying in the rain near the phone booth at the park.

  62. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

@FF, @WE, with the willingness of BD to lose his life, let go of everything in his own world, now the memories come back in full force for HJ and the grief is real.

The ‘death’ of BD and the emotional connection also merges time and space enough so that the cell phone signal can reach 300 years into the past.

  63. @SD, now it’s not even royal, it’s to SAVE THE WORLD.
    Goshhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh. 🙂

  64. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

@WE So does that mean he regains his honour at last with this suicide?

  65. Nice trick, she sees the forgetten memories on the cinema screen.

  66. @WE, the cinema … the deleted scene is here at this point when HJ reviews her documentary.

  67. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

@WE, yes, I like that we see the memories onscreen too. And when he enters he throws light upon her darkened space.

  68. I as traumatized by the suicide scene the on first watch. I do not think he is kiling himself becuase of HJ. He coud have done that at any time. His hopelessness now would be extreme. Remember he said that wandering gave him a reason to live. Also his still being alive could upset the poitical harmony-something to do with the idea of the use of shamanistic powers and would be betraying the king.

  69. @GB, suicide is a variable in kdrama. You loose honor, or you gain honor. Anyway…

Then, HE COMEs BACK. In a suit!! Corporate dude.

  70. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

We are left not knowing if he died and how he got back until we finally get the backstory of how the phone rang for him, causing him to save his life and luckily falling on his clothes and able to touch the phone. The phone became a talisman at last.

  71. Looks easy to escape hanging. Just grip the clothes, move a bit, and the thing removes by itself. So he can answer the phone call. Accross TIME.

  72. AHHH, notice the details. First time, when she goes out of the car. Looks like something trivial? You don’t notice it? BUT it’s why she couldn’t answer the phone and know he’s alive and back.
So we can see that only in a flashback. 🙂

  73. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

@MM About the first episode where the cellphone fell into the drain. The foreshadowing and parallel of the phone in the drain below the grating and BD in jail behind bars is amazing… totally planned and written to work this way by SJJ.

  74. Looking for a first unexpected line from heroine. It’s “close the door”. 🙂

  75. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

@WE, yes, we only get to see in flashback… to add much stress!!!

  76. @GB, SADISTICALY planned. 😀

  77. Her strength is her ability to feel and to be compassionsate-traits I think make a good actor. We see this in spades when she is crying as he is hanging himself. Hence they connect over centuries.

  78. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

@WE the “Close the door” is a prelude to lock the door, I guess???

Now we get the fun ending where we see the interrogation by Jo a 3rd time!!! They end up breaking the 4th wall. LOL

  79. Then I laugh a bit when I see people writing bad opinions on W, like “the writer doesn’t know where to go now, pull out twists out of nowhere”. ^^

  80. @GB, yes, the deleted scene.
I’m forced to admit it was in the screenplay, now.
SJJ have a devious spirit for lust. ^:-D

  81. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

@WE, they missed the Easter Eggs of how clues were dropped along the way, especially with the phone calls, phone booths, paired cell phones.

  82. How good is the final final ending now.
We see future scenes on the screen.
Like manager for the 3th time asking informations to BD.

  83. @GB, I like your explanation of the emotional connection merging space and time enough to fuse the connection. I skimmed a recent Ars Technica article on Time Travel in movies. They ranked them on 4 quadrants. Of course, they only considered American films. And they had no room for emotions or fantasy really. Just the actual congruence of known physics and the plot.

  84. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

@WE, I think SJJ was channeling her lustful spirit through the character of HJ… that’s why she kept speaking of BD being a player… she was projecting it onto him like SJJ was to HJ LOL.

  85. @GB yes her crying by the curb suggests the parallel was on purpose.

  86. I’ve started rewatching 9 a first time, so I’m not too lost during rewatching party. Now at ep13. 😉
The 1080p Netflix version is great about quality but awfull about they blurred lot of things (I guess Copyright concerns).

  87. @GB and not just my tendency to read to much into small details. LOL

  88. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

Yes, @WE… 3rd time… It was a future scene. Practically the same words and actions. So BD pre-empted all the questions and answered them in 1 go.

  89. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

Thanks @SD. I’d be slightly interested if physics could explain it well and still include the emotions. Kdramas are great because of their emotional weightiness.

  90. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

@WE, I only watched a few scenes of 9:9 before next week’s Rewatch Party. Will see if I can do a fuller viewing. Yes, I’ll be lost now if I don’t do a pre-rewatch!

  91. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

@MM, you have a knack for catching the significance of details. That’s a gift!

  92. @MM I was really frustrated at the suicide on the first viewing. It seems so out of character. And I agree about the political harmony. He asks who will interview him and remembers that this person is someone who knows him very well (flashback to the scene just before he disappears on the street). All he can do at this point is kill himself; then at least if someone recognizes him it can be buried quickly (sorry, bad pun).

  93. One of the funniest comments wwhen I watched the first time referred to those complaining about battery life after watching an entire fantasy show about time travel.

  94. I got to go, see you all next week.

  95. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

@SD, I feel that the plan changed from staying alive to dying because he had different things at stake depending on who knew or who was interviewing him. He wanted to at least not dishonour the agreement he made with the king after the queen was reinstated.

  96. @MM, I noticed how HJ bends over in unexplained, and unexplainable grief just as she passes through BD in the courtyard scene mimicking her body language when she is in the hospital earlier and thinks he has died. And clutches her breast after she pulls over in the car.

  97. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

@MM, that did occur to me as well… how could the phone battery last 1 year without charging LOL. I believe SJJ was not much into logical details in this show. That’s why he always had clothes for every return to the different time.

  98. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

See you at the 9:9 party @FF!!

  99. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

@SD, that’s true. HJ manifests grief in the same way regardless of when. She doubles over in emotional pain.

  100. See you next week for 9! Hug everybody here!
    I quit now. 😉

  101. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

Bye @WE! See you next week.

  102. @GB One really needs to stretch one’s thinking into abstaction and symbolism to appreciate this ending. I too had a big problem with the cell phone ending initially and now think it is genius. The effort to pay attention to detail in this show really pays off with a satisfying ending, this time around.

  103. The background music is really well done in this show. I often do not notice background music (even, sadly OSTs), but in this show it really reflects what is going on. Nice orchestrated accompaniment to what seems to be a final scene. HJ sobbing in the rain next to her car, and BD’s suicide by hanging.

  104. There is evn a visual of the road grates as BD lies on the road after arriving in the current day.

  105. What a great laugh when he realizes he is in the current day. The music works really well here too.

  106. even at the end he is having a fish out of water experience in his reaction to someone else having his peronal belongings.

  107. @MM. I agree this is a drama that rewards a re-view. So many things missed the first time through. And the subtle details! I still missed many of them. Thanks to @GB for a nicely described reason for the cell phone to work to bring them together, both the phone booth reference (earlier rewatches, if I remember correctly) and the emotion breaking through on both sides at BD’s near death.

Looking forward to next week. @WE, I too am trying to get a bit ahead on the Nine: Time Travel Nine Times.

  108. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

@MM yes the music accompanying the emotions was good, but perhaps a bit much of the repetition of the cringy piece that @WE hates,

  109. @GB SD I particularrly noted your comments about ideas about time travel Physics/fantasy emotional elements. More for me to think about.

I look forward to our next rewatch. I found Nine times Nine more confusing than QIHM so I look forward to undestanding the time travel better.

Where are others watching this show. I have not yet found a good version.

  110. It’s 11am here and for some reason I stopped receiving comments after 27 and that’s awhile ago. Hopefully more will upload eventually. Shutting down and restarting didn’t help either🤔😢

  111. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

@MM, here is the link given by @WE
    He said: “Download raw+subtitles:
    https://dramaday.me/nine-nine-time-travels/
How lucky, there are 1080p quality !!”

  112. My computer/tablet protection does not like this link.🤔

  113. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

@MM, you may need to shut off the computer protection for a while to download the episodes and subtitles.

  114. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

Bye! I’ve got to sleep now!
