1) As I had mentioned in another comment in an earlier episode, I was curious as to when DH will find GW being hurt/killed instead of her or indirectly because of her actions or situation unacceptable.
Well, surprise surprise. That point came much, much earlier than I had anticipated.
2) The shift / end of DH viewing herself as the victim.
DH is used to considering herself a target “without reason”/ the victim/ the orphan/ the rightful heir who has to fight for what is rightfully hers.
After what happens to GW, she might have a shift in her focus. A vulnerable GW who is no longer invincible is in peril and her actions/situation had a role to play in his misfortune.
3) Star Jin is a not part of any love triangle. She’s not female SL. Simply because in order to be a successful female SL in a Kdrama, you must be very pretty or cute, “innocent” and truly supportive of ML. You also must not annoy the audiences. The audiences must sympathize with your predicament. Star Jin ticks none of the above.
The show makes crystal clear that the only one for GW is the name that falls from his lips on the brink of death, and that’s Do Hee.
Star Jin’s character goal might be to make DH realise that she has in fact acted selfishly time to time, i.e. having thought only about herself.
4) DH is quick to prioritise. To me, jumping in front of bullets is an easy part of love. Hard part is what you are able to sacrifice for the well-being of the one you love. Your goal, your career, you time, your efforts… I’m not saying go crazy. I’m saying time to time life asks you to choose. And in love, you choose the collective welfare. You stay true to your commitment. Even if that means not getting your way or not living what was once your only dream.
DH can be seen ready to give up her one and only dream – it does not mean she’s “weak”. It simply means she’s not tepid in love. She’s thick and deep.

@arihsi
Has she not already made the ultimate sacrifice? I was under the assumption that’s how she ended up with the demon cross on her wrist. When she was under water after dhe swam back down to grab him, she said something to the effect of “if I don’t let go of him, I’ll die” and she continued to hold on until she fell unconscious and we next see her washed ashore.
Now that I’m typing that out I’m realizing I don’t remember seeing it discussed anywhere so perhaps I am way off.
Arihsi
@birdie007 you are correct that she did try to save him underwater at the cost of her own life and that might have lead to tatoo transfer. pkml3 mentioned it too if I’m not wrong. However, I’d put it as momentary altruism/ she didn’t want to leave the person who has just saved her to drown.
What the show might be trying to highlight is concious choice. Example, in CLOY FL not going back to SK to stay back and give blood to the ML inspite of being fully aware of the consequences annnd going back being her only dream at that moment.
Arihsi
Additional Note
– DH is dressed in white on the two occasions where she runs to save GW. From the goons in ep 4 (attempt was successful) and in Ep 8. Has to be successful.
Could it be an allusion at her being his guardian angel or someone who absolves him ? (I’m a non-christan and non-informed human being so please pardon me if this is an incorrect assumption)
Cleopatra
As it seems the mastermind behind Do Do Hee’s assassination is manipulating two persons, the killer and the unstable cousin.
The mastermind is using the (or his) cousin as a scapegoat.
I mean okay the assasin took so easily entry to the Foundation and noone questioned anything!?
Whenever the killer is around, SH is there too and that is not a coincidence.
As for Gu Won being stabbed I am not that afraid. We have reached half in the show. The ML cannot die in this time frame. Gu Won might remember what happened in the past. As it happened in “Destined With You”.
As for head Mirae Company let’s burn into pieces… 😤
Am I sad? Yes, I am. Gu Won was looking out for Do DoHee even at that time.
The God / begar lady said it all: Who’s blaming fate? You should be blaming yourself.
No one can stop the roulette wheel that has begun spinning. All that’s left for you are choices.
The above statement is not only for Do DoHee and Jeong GuWon. It applies to everyone.
So, for another show we get to see that Humans are more awful than the Monster(s).
01:36 – Kissing in the photo booth.
He gives the excuse “it was to go incognito”.
Woah aha ha. I knew he’d have a lame excuse.
If not, it allows them to get out of the situation instead of teleporting. And that way, the psycho won’t find their picture. This weirdo is certainly horrified by the sight of two lovers kissing.
ELSE: someone give me the address of this photo booth, because I’d like to get some FREE photos too.
03:29 – The hobo “god” woman, as it happens.
“You’ve encroached on my territory”.
To Gu-Won: “What weakens eventually disappears.”
I guess his powers start to disappear and become unstable. That’s why he couldn’t teleport. Here he turns a plant into a rose, but it quickly withers as they walk away.
08:15 – Testing his powers.
Interesting here: he’s dressed in red, she in green.
Two complementary colors. (color theory)
And their stockings too. Black VS white.
09:32 – Seok Hoon looks at a photo of Gu-Won’s foundation.
I don’t know if we’re supposed to recognize Gu-Won in the photo.
But I didn’t recognize anyone. LOL.
16:30 – After the scene where she refuses to let him arrange her things, Mrs. Ju appears. The episode’s pretty limp so far.
24:10 – Flashback to Ga Young’s life (the sword dancer).
26:22 – As Gu Won saves her, she asks him “are you an angel?”.
28:15 – Plot Device! A random guy makes trouble for Ga Young in the street. 🙂
This reminds me of one of my scenes where I needed a rescue moment.
36:30 – They’re in bed. Eventually fall asleep and….
🥱 … Yawn… This episode is so slow that I fall asleep too.
Then when they wake up, they take turns staring at each other…
… long… very long… with soft piano music… 🥱
…………………. 😌
😴😴😴😴😴😴😴😴😴😴😴😴
47:25 – Does this make sense?
When already, Seok Hoon suspects him of having superpowers…
He reveals his superpowers to a random guy, doing a web gossip show.
47:48 – The butler calls to say his demon book is missing. Ref: an earlier scene in the episode.
Where we see that anyone can break into this foundation, having no guards, no means of security.
57:15 – This is the kind of comedy scene I don’t find funny. With the gang who want to pledge their allegiance to him +more people to whom he’s revealed his superpowers.
1:04:30 – The psycho-killer stabs Gu Won.
Good scene. Good cliffhanger.
A knife in the heart, I don’t see how he could survive.
I suppose maybe Do Hee will have full power over the demon and could resurrect him, breaking a law in the book, and thus risking spontaneous combustion?
Arihsi
@cleopatra I don’t know about other humans but the killer is definitely very sadistic. He’s different from other regular shoot/stab killers of Kdrama. He goes for gore and brutality.
Secondly, yes ! Concious choice!
Thirdly, did you not feel that sequences that usually come around ep 10 end – Ep 11 in a typical drama (ML injured – FL realises she loves him – FL in some other deep trouble without ML’s support – risk of noble idiocy (TM) etc) came too early here by ep 7 ? Anyone else who felt that way ?
Arihsi
@WEnchanteur I’m a very bad drama viewer so I end up skipping any scenes that are not gripping / feature creepy people in detail.
Anyhow ! Yes yes ! It was a thrilling end of the ep. Also, knife to the heart… Usually k-dramas prefer back stabbing or abdominal side stabbing (that too left – it’s survivable), isn’t it ? Here, they emphasized that it was the heart and straight through it. Brutal stuff.
@Arihsi, skip scenes?!! AaAAhh! Punishment! Slash! Slash! :whip:
I never do that, I want the real temperature of the drama. If it’s boring, it’s boring. Well, there could be entire dramas I almost skip if I do that. 😂
Here a theory about how he will survive:
Previous incarnation of Do Hee was an angel (why we saw her white in flashback), and she had the cross (and it’s why it’s a cross). But she gave that to him, only he became a demon. Now she have the cross back and should have some memories flashes. Get her powers again. So she could save him, because ressurection is a power of God, only forbidden to use by demons.
Arihsi
Ooooooo @WEnchanteur, how exciting! I noticed her white clothes in both instances (ep 4 and ep 8) and wondered in a comment on this thread itself if she was an angel for him.. I really like that idea ! They were anatomically pretty correct to indicate it’s the heart, the doctor said he won’t survive the night. Maybe she’s the Angel who’d absolve him.
Starts with the previous cliffhanger.
Which is kind of okay since the scene is good.
02:15 – I don’t get it.
Has he stabbed his heart yet? The knife was really deep.
And he’s bleeding like crazy.
Then the killer says he’s going to cut his heart in two?
The mask is ripped off and he sees the killer’s face in the process.
Well, they’re taking him away in an ambulance now. Sounds like “ah finally the dagger wasn’t in deep enough, or not in the right place”. Tsssskkkkkkkkkk.
04:30 – Hospital. He’s fine.
He’s doing very well, he just has “damaged heart valves”.
And so, he still has all night to live. 😀
Luckily, the policeman lets Do Hee out of jail to visit him.
A quick flick of the wrist, and the super-regeneration will take care of the rest. Mmh mmh, disappointing for a stab in the heart.
06:00 – Ah, that’s better.
The superpower doesn’t activate. 🙂
But nothing’s certain yet……..
07:00 – NOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!
The superpower activates. T T
Toooooooo easy!!!
He’s on his feet in two minutes now.
This is going to look a little weird to the people around. 🙂
14:00 – Dream scene. He dreams he’s going into combustion.
16:00 – Nice comedy scene with the butler.
GW’s a very capricious master.
20:00 – Do Hee’s employees are sad for Gu Won.
Ever since the healing scene, the episode has been thick with comedy!!!!
24:40 – They come up with a lame excuse to hug each other. (or more kh kh kh)
The recharge would be even better if they were glued naked. 🙂
This demon is looking more and more like a pet.
28:00 – Ah, this episode is good at comedy.
The butler tells Mrs. Shin an absurd story about a pig.
It actually makes sense, but not to her.
Good lines:
“doesn’t our friendship forged by capitalism mean anything to you?”
30:00 – In the car.
Since the beginning of the drama, I’ve been asking myself this question: Since the tattoo is on her right hand, why does he perpetually sit or lie on her left? It’ll be more convenient on her right…..?!??
34:10 – He has a combustion hallucination.
37:40 – Ga Young is a bit cumbersome. lol.
She thinks she’s the official girlfriend.
39:00 – Here we see one of the interests of this type of character (SFL), she forces Gu Won to admit his feelings (but for Do Hee, ahah).
40:00 – Ploof! We dive into the episode’s limp moment. Zzz Zzz Zzz. Every time Mrs Ju appears.
It’s her ghost that makes the drama sleepy.
But it doesn’t last long. Phew.
48:00 – Huh? She gives up the presidency, ok.
But also her legacy? Does that make sense?
Ah, she’s really rough.
She’s rubbing it in Gu Won’s face. “You’re a weakling now.”
53:00 – This situation has generated drama and misunderstanding. I guess they’ll spend the rest of the episode staring sadly into space having flashbacks. 😀
We learn the truth we guessed.
Of course, she gives up because she wants to protect him.
And yeah. It’s a sacrifice for the sake of the loved one. T T
59:20 – First real kiss.
Which for some insane reason activates the anti-fire device, and drops fall in Slow Motion.
I just suppose the guy is too hot at this point.
(lol, that’d be more like a plant watering thing)
Arihsi
Hee hee hee hee.
See @WEnchateur ? This is the reason I’m glad you watch this drama, don’t skip any scenes annnnd have an offbeat take on it that you then let us know.
About the demon being the pet – though I agree- it’d be short-lived simply because it’s unsustainable for 16 ep. Ep 8+9 are likely to be the dating/fan-service. I expect him to return to his demonic tendencies with power by Ep 10 – Max ep 11. He’s a DEMON – I hope the show will remember this. The homeless lady (likely to be the deity) also indicated at DH being in peril because she saved him.
The one thing I liked was completely and utterly unrelated to the plot or the story –
The makeup artist is good. He/she managed to make the ML look exhausted / unwell in a convincing way without overdoing dry, cracked lips.
@Arihsi, I don’t take the drama too seriously. I think the writer knows what she does: the fantasy romcom with the must-tropes. She want to do the popular thing!
So, I’ll go as far as to say… (beware: unpopular opinion, lolol)…
The whole drama is fan service. 🙂 🙂 🙂
Yet, I try to find the good points. Well, this episode it was comedy. I didn’t liked the gang tropes last episode, but on this one, their comedy scene was a bit better. How absurd it is this whole gang wanting to serve the ML. Gosh. But there was also a gag like this in Psychopath Diary, with the thug neigboor of the ML.
I didn’t made comments about various scenes with villains etc.
I didn’t speak about our hobo-god-woman, but now I think her role is mostly to freak us out with various blurry bad omen. “oh, it sounds bad for them”, “oh, if they do that, it will be worse”, “oh, they did that, now they are doomed”. 😀
So, kudos for the make-up artist. 😉
He doesn’t need cracked lips yet. Hey, he was just stabbed in the heart.
Nothing of importance needing cracked lips.
Kalimera @Packmule3!
Thank you for the thread! Let us enjoy the show!
