Thank you @pkml3, I will try to nap before show time or I may just drowse through it. Meds and all, can take their toll!
Hi, I’m around, doing a quick rewatch. It’s riveting and I may forget to come back in 4 minutes!!!
I am ready to go.
HI @MM, we start Now!!!
Hi , I’m in. @GB sorry to hear you are not feeling well😢
Hi GB and LL.
HI @LL, thanks… I lost my voice. Had to forego an event *sigh*.
I’m good enough for this rewatch party though!! Let’s go!
Hi @WE, glad to see you.
Strong beginning for this episode. Becomes so riveting!
The switch to Dutch angle for Dr Young Hoon tells us something is happening to history in his time.
Surgery room, Now is the:
swwwoollllllfppfolllrlrllfpplll scene.
@MM SW was spot on when he said things would change when Shi Ah called his brother. He had no clue how tremendous a change it would be.
I am ready!
@GB, oh, you got a voice extinction?!
You screamed too much?! OO
@WE, I watch this surgery scene and think both that Young Hoon is over-reacting and at the same time that it’s understandable. The actor is so funny being so lost in the changes that have taken place.
I like the split screen of Jung Woo and Young Hoon both running but for totally different reasons.
Hi MM.
The sllllrrolp moment is when there are the kind of memories-wirl.
I am enjoying the Doctor friends acting.
@WE, virus hit my vocal cords. Fortunately not the Covid virus.
Ah Young Hoon now going to see a ‘ghost’ in the flesh LOLOL.
Is anyone re-watching? Are we postponing tonight’s session?
@WE I like how the Show chose to do the memories flooding in moment… so effective. And the result of the shock on both YH and SW.
We get an interesting piece of info on the logic of this time jump. The people who know about the incense sticks do not lose their memories of their real ‘present’ timeline. Those who do not, really believe that they went through their lives in the parallel timeline.
Hi @FF, we’re here!! Pity the comments don’t upload for you. Just keep commenting. We will read you.
Hi FF. We are currently rewatching.
GB, I hope your voice come back once the virus is gone.
For now, you can only write instead of speaking.
@GB Yes, strong beginning shows SW’s brotherly love by connecting brother to his lover, and then Dr. H bungling behavior in operating room. The writer has my full attention and curiosity!
@MM Doctor Young Hoon is fun. He likes to ham it up a bit. Oh dear my video paused again. Will be back!
He has no more girlfriend now.
But to make it more painful, he can see her.
lol.
@WE, I type faster than I write so that’s OK.
I’ve restarted my video that pauses now and then. Now we have the scene where SW wakes up and thinks he had a dream… BUT… horrors, she calls him ‘uncle’.
@GB, why didn’t you download from dramaday?
tss tss tss.
Test
@LL, the Writer, PD, actors all… did the scene so well. We can see and know what is happening, and we’re getting the gist of the time travel repercussions. I like that memories come flooding in and we can ‘see’ them.
@WE, these are the downloaded DRamaday videos. I think they are too good for my player LOL. They break it now and then.
Hi @FF, I can see your ‘test’
I am at the 13th minute and the video has paused again for me *sigh*
This show solidifies my knowledge of the korean word for Uncle.😄
This becomes more pertinent question later in this show. Thinking about this show as one where the time lines change always leaves me wondering what happened to the characters in the previous time lines. Does anyone have any thoughts or do I just need to accept it on faith?
I hope I’m not experiencing the same issue as @FF. I’m suddenly not seeing new comments in email.
I am at 10 min , have subscribed to the notification will see the comments via email.
I think she didn’t changed. She’s sowewhat the girl in love with her uncle. But I don’t remember if she knows he’s a real uncle or not.
@MM, this Show does give us bits of the alternate lives in the parallel timeline. The characters remain true to their personalities but their circumstances change. Fortunately not as much as could have happened.
OK @FF, that’s good. I see both email and the updated page. I use the email to respond to specific persons.
@WE, she knows that her mother married his brother so that he is not her blood relative, but by marriage… he is her uncle. It’s correct. Because of the marriage, he ‘cannot’ marry his niece.
This writer likes to bring in Catholic images… the church, the stained glass. I guess she has a message … ends the scene with the Alpha and Omega (the Beginning and the End) stained glass image. They are playing with time, but only God (the Alpha and the Omega) is the true master of time.
It’s 9:24 here yet comments stopped for me at 9:10. I’ll try to catch up belatedly.
@GB That others circumstances of their lives have not changed also requires me to suspend belief. I have been told to not try to make too much sense of time travel. Just try to see if the show’s logic is coherent.
We see that Jung Woo has not changed much except that he’s alive and married and a successful doctor.
Here it’s the “maybe boyfriend”.
Sure, this guy will be a bit painful later.
I am enjoying their discussion in the church. Korean dramas have such a mix of christianity and buddhism and it is reflected in their conversation.
When in church they ask what is this that’s going on we see also images of Christ carrying his cross… it’s the cross they have to carry for playing with time.
LOL Dr YH’s fear at being touched by ‘dead’ Jung Woo.
@GB, Jung Woo is the surgeon?
Wait, he wasn’t married before?
OK @LL, I’ll read you anyway so you can still keep writing.
Ah no, Jung Woo is the brother.
@MM, I no longer expect kdramas to explain the logic of their sci-fi / fantasy plots. That we can extrapolate quite a lot from just watching is a testament to how good SJJ is and the PD too, in bringing forth the logic through the characters reactions and conversations.
I wonder why the doctor friend retain his memory that events had changed but not the rest of the people.
@WE, yes JW is the dead brother. Now we have the scene which never happened in the first timeline… the blind date of Min Young and the other doctor. Another spoke in the wheel of SW’s romance. YH hates himself for getting his friend to date MY.
@FF, I feel it’s to do with knowledge of the incense sticks. Only YH and SW knew about the incense sticks being for time travel, and they retained their present memories.
This is the most creative reason in any drama I have watched To create a” We can’t be together because we are related” Plot line.
Sun Woo comes home to find that he has MY there as bubbly cook and caregiver. She’s all happy and cheerful here because she does not know about his illness. We see the difference between her then and now, and again there will be a future Min Young.
Finally SW gets to speak to his dead brother. Fortunately over the phone so even if he cries brother cannot see.
She continues to torture him. lol.
There’s new events, Min Young is dating the junior doctor. Messy situation.
@WE, yes cook and spend the weekend there… pure torture!!
Hah, YH has an idea to change the trajectory!
He start to be a jerk with her.
(as a revenge ?)
I take that as cruel comedy from the writer. Irony.
Because she enumerates each single points. 🙂
He can be mad with that.
So now we hear Young Hoon speaking like he knows something of Christianity (I can’t see why he brings up the Tree of knowledge of good and evil – yes the tree in the middle of the garden of Eden, from which Adam and Eve ate the forbidden fruit.). He thinks SW should not have been playing God and changing the lives of others (he calls it fate which is not Christian LOL).
So delicious puzzle is “How can SW possess incense sticks since in new reality his brother never had need to go to obtain them in the first place?” Love that we are alerted to this “discrepancy” in drama. A drama for thinkers! Cool!
@GB @ MM Yes, enjoy the religious elements.
It took a fatal illness for him to become involved with her After knowing her for 5 years or so. And now their relationship is distrupted by time travel.
@GB It is a helpful guidance to Pay attention to character and character developmeant And not forget about that while trying to figure out the time travel rules. I see the time travel as being a vehicle for Highlighting character, Relationships, And ethical quandries.
@WE, I see your point. They had their ‘honeymoon’ in the Himalayas and she mentions them, but the new MY knows nothing of all the memories they made there.
Missed it again. I had to get ready for an early morning; I will try to catch up on the rewatch postings and join you next week. Ta ta.
@LL yes, more Christian leanings by this Writer. Not as bad as other writers, thank heavens.
@MM I like the ending quandary. SW’s friend wants him to beat his terminal illness, but now the prospect of living a long life, knowing both memories… what was, what should have been and what is. It seems better for poor SW to die! 😣🧐
@SD, no worries! We always have a space for you whenever you can be here! See you next time. 🙂
Hi SD, happy to see you, even it’s the time I have to leave.
Bye bye everybody. See you soon.
@WE@GB I think he is just expressing his anger At the situation and at himself for what he has done. I don’t see him as being motivated by revenge.
@GB I will keep in mind your comment about SW Wondering if he can live with two timelines in his head when he gets even more timelines In his head. I think his doctor friend may have more problems with it.😀
To mix in even more philosophy and religion, Could the terms hubris and nemesis help us understand this show? I would need to do a lot more thinking to understand all these references.
@MM, long ago, when I first watched this show, I never considered that it might be making a statement about hubris in the face of gods, or that retribution (nemesis?) was required to atone for the arrogance of playing with time (the purview of gods). But because I know the ending, perhaps there’s that. In the end, some things had to return to ‘their place’ and/or some things had to compensate for the changes/benefits that came about because Sun Woo changed history.
