Thanks @pkml3! Something strange is happening … I am able to see emails of new posts coming in but the posts themselves do not get displayed in the thread!!!
Check your email please, @GB. 🙂
Thanks @pkml3, I’ve replied in email. 😃
I find I have to refresh the page a few times to see all new posts. Is it possible to change the website’s cache control settings to reduce the time our browsers cache the page?
Hi Everyone, I’m round about. I’ll be back!
@Pm3, thanks for the schedule recap.
Hi @WE, I hope your Internet connection holds up. 🙂
@GB, I’m here, so it should be fine. I’m not using my regular connexion but a wifi box the company gave me, during the time my normal connexion is fixed.
Hello eveeyone, shall we start?
Okay, let’s go!!!
Hi @FF, yes, start!!!
I like that Show gives a quick overview of the previous episode to bring us up to date.
Hi @FF, @GB, @WE. Starting a bit late, excited to do this rewatch.
@Hi FF.
I watch the recap, always better from a week to the other.
Hi @SD, yes excited to do the rewatch and the episode itself will put us on tenterhooks!!!
Hi SD.
They have the problem of delay now.
How can they make admit her crime in just 10 minutes, when she knows the delay ends soon.
So stressful… all hanging on a mere technicality when it’s obvious they have the right culprit.
Ahah, the hero is profiler, but he just say obvious things here when he sees her touch her arm.
I like the other cop: this guy was the killer in Nine. But here he’s funny.
I wonder how much truth there is in this DNA talk. Can the DNA be extracted even if 100 years has passed?
Twists and turns. Make us believe their plan could work, but once 3 minutes are left, NO.
Ayyayyaya.
How to play with audience nerves.
@WE, Kim Won Hae is one of those actors who are everywhere and convincing in any role. Someone rightly called him a scene stealer as well. Most of the time, one can’t help but watch his antics.
@FF, yes. DNA can be extracted even if 100 years have passes (or 10s of thousands of years). Whether or not there would be enough blood in this case ….
I’m not sure @FF. Maybe @WE might have done research on DNA as evidence for something he’s writing?
@WE, the close ups of the faces, the hands, etc tell their story without words.
I often say that, but sometimes, the best final plot-twist is the failure! Cf Empress Ki, the drama that taught me that. (well, probably some others before, too)
@GB, I did search for stuff, but if it’s really not usable, well, I distord a bit reality.
For example, law of inheritance in Korea: I put a inheritance situation, when the real legal term is 4 or 5 years (I don’t remember), but I use 2 years only.
Kim Won Hae in Strong Woman Do Bong Song was hilarious. He played two different comedic characters.
Everything hinged on that tiny piece of paper with the date and time on it… the hospital car park entry slip.
HY had tried to give his piece of paper to the police when he was a child but they ignored him. It’s only now, 20 years later that another piece of paper that was so hard to find points to the criminal.
Ultimate plot-twist, time of death.
Ahhhahah! They-ve got me.
I really put myself in the shoes of this awesome writer, looking for any crazy idea to make the suspens up the extreme limit. Need to dig a lot the situation.
@WE, well, in man-made matters, one might change the facts a bit. However with DNA testing, it’s more a science, so harder to ‘bluff’.
He remembers the little girl and imagines her spirit smiling at him for trying to bring her case to justice.
Thanks @SD.
Now we PKY visiting the place where he last saw Yoon Jung, he can finally move past this episode of his life. The song sounds very consoling.
Ah, I’ve lost a bit the situation. If fact, she will punished for another murder. Sad for the mother crying, but at least, she ends behind bars.
@SD, I was aghast to see him OTT and dressed like that LOL. He really hammed it up to the hilt.
@FF, Kdrama is so good for these scenes… just a small scene of nostalgia and it adds so much warmth and layers to the character. I actually feel touched by that scene and it followed up by HY’s visit to his brother’s grave.
I think the brother was wrongly accused in a gang rape case. Could be that he died in prison, by suicide. So it’s terribly poignant and significant to HY to bring cold cases to light.
Painful situation for cops with corruption, prescription delay change by law. We immediatly guess the police chief and his right arm are suspects. These guys just have bad faces, the guilt and evilness are written on their face.
Now we come to the bad guy in the police force… and poor Anh who is forced to listen to him and obey his dastardly orders.
Hah the Cold Case Squad is being formed and arrogant Gye Chul will get lugged into it too LOL.
Here a comedy scene with Gye Chul, happy to scold the female protagonist and thinks he won’t be assigned to classified-affair, but bad luck for him…
The scene with the mother grieving and demanding justice and the police gathered around her is Such Good Drama! Such a good scene, so well acted. This sort of scene is why I love Kdrama: in the midst of a crime thriller there is the pause to see how people are affected emotionally and the acting (and script) are so well done!
Hmmm… 24:50 timestamp and we hear that the police know about Lee Jae Han and something happened that is being covered up by Chief Kim and Ahn Chi Soo.
haha forced to take publicity photos?
@WE, in this show I love seeing Gye Chul being taken down a few pegs. SHis attitude is so tiresome. The woman can run faster than him and without panting.
@SD, yes, that’s what I was saying too upthread.
And now at 28:10 timestamp we have a cute flashback with more sweet and funny moments.
@FF, yes the advert for the police LOL… that was the only photo she had together with Jae Han and she treasure it like crazy.
I like this music that comes on for memories and for Soo Hyun of the past.
Taking a photo.
The drama is serious but there are some little comedy, quite in a discret genre.
Final photo is great.
And just now…
Sad piano music… T T
11:23 on the clock and the signal comes in on the walkie talkie radio.
JH is not looking too good, bleeding and saying it’s likely his last transmission.
@GB, it’s from pianist Jang Se-Rin, who did music also on W. (lot of sad piano music in this).
This show has the music of nostalgia. Quite heart-tugging!!
That gunshot scared HY and me!
Now our foolish Gye Chul must start off badly at the new workplace.
Here is a really strange plot-point.
He’s speaking from the last point in time (when he dies) and says the com will begin again (but coming from his self from the past).
So the connexion isn’t always a fixed time like Nine. Or rather: after this com’, it becomes a new connexion (to 1989 to start with).
@WE, I feel that neither HY nor JH are initiating the connection… it’s the walkie talkie who is the boss. It just comes on and connects the two of them through time and space.
Now they are in a musty office, as if it’s a garbage can where you put useless cops. AAh!
PHY starts talking to LJH again into the walkie talkie, here’s where I am lost. They spoke the a few nights ago (someone knocked LJH out while they spoke), PHY found the corpse in the manhole, police announcement that PHY messed up, DNA test, arrest the female killer, Soo Hyun visits the killer in prison, cold case team created. How much time has passed? And PHY is now speaking to LJH who is badly injured. How many days in between? Is the drama not telling the full story so that I have to keep watching?
Hye-Hyung come in: he doesn’t care about the bad office, obviously happy to work on classified affairs. 🙂
@FF, unlike Nine:9 and other time travel shows, this one does not have a linear timeline for the past. And the past time flow is different in speed from the one in the future. No actual correspondence in time.
We meet Jae Han in the past in 2000 his time. He’s injured but the radio connection may have taken days to happen again although to JH it was just the next day.
LOL another funny scene of the police fighting among themselves and everyone watching a free show. Childish men in the police force.
HY has been searching for JH who’s still with the force in 2015. He’s narrowed down his search to 3 persons.
@GB, there is some logic, it’s linear from a new past point. But not every day, it could be time skip. The main things is it always happens at 23h23 for HY.
@GB, oh that is new concept to me! Past time flow is in different speed from the one in future.
Here comes another person-to-person moment that adds so much warmth and heart to this show. It’s not just an investigation, or a time travel show… but a character driven show with very personable characters.
@FF, yes, as far as I can tell,… in the 2015 time, it takes weeks to solve a crime. But in the past there might have been months that went by. You’ll see soon that the next transmission is from 1989. So from 1989 – 2000 some 11 years had gone by backwards.
@WE, I think the walkie talkie thing happens at 23:23 for two of them, Lee Jae Han and Park Hae Yong. But in the first episode they show the 3 clocks at 23:23 including the Soo Hyun’s clock in one screen.
New (and in truth first) contact with Lee Jae Han.
@FF, oh yeah. Both of them. Now why it’s this hour precisely? I guess we’ll find out.
Could be the time of death of Lee in the last call?
Soo Hyun goes to visit JH’s father at the watch shop. He knows that she used to love JH.
She checks that JH’s dad had been the one to tell her that the Gyeonggi Nambu case had been JH’s first case.
JH’s father says yes it was when he first became a policeman. “He worked so hard to catch the criminal. …
Father: “But later he said this. He couldn’t catch him with his own hands. Someone out there would. Someone out there would catch him in his place.”
(This means that he had started to receive the transmissions at that time when he first started in the police force.
Similarly the first case to bring Hae Young to join the police was one where JH had been involved and it was when HY started receiving the transmissions. Between 1989 – 2000 there were 11 years of transmissions.)
Cops don’t have lot of confidence in weird “profiler” skills. And he’s quite arrogant, so.
@FF, yes that’s right. The same time on all 3 clocks. These 3 had to be ‘aligned’ or their time had to be synchronised, and then the walkie talkie (radio for short!) came on to draw them together. The radio seems to have a mind of its own!!!
@GB, that is what I realised when I watched this episode earlier. The timeline is weird, Lee Jae Han was in 1989 but Park Hae Yong is past July 2015. I thought the more they communicate the wider the time gap between them.
@WE, yes, I believe that 23:23 was the death time or the disappearance time of Jae Han.
Yes, HY is quite arrogant too so he and Gye Chul cannot get on. Both arrogant in their own ways.
@GB, it’s a beautiful story about cops cooperating, only… they do it through Time!
Little cheaters, hey hey hey.
@GB, am I wrong on the timeline again?
@FF, the time will now follow the investigations of cold cases. Seems like the radio wants to get the cold cases to be solved LOL.
Unfortunately, we never know how come or why that radio was so ‘concerned’ with the cold cases of Jae Han. I guess the fighting spirit of Jae Han entered the radio and refused to give up when HY and Soo Hyun made contact. It was that night that the radio came on and JH’s voice called to HY.
These 3 cops are mostly individuals but they are forced to be a team. HY even in his own time needs to become a team player.
So what is with the walkie talkie on the ground at the scene of the (first?) Gyeongi Nambu case? Where does it come from? Is the murderer a cop? How does someone else get the walkie talkie? Is this why the walkie talkie seems to have a mind of its own? As in it ‘needs’ to right the wrong of being used in a crime of such horror? So many questions. I am just a few episodes ahead, but on the first watch (and now) this just confuses me.
@GB, the radio heard too much shit in its life.
Now can’t bear it anymore.
And take the situation by its own. SHOOO!! 😀
@FF, it’s hard to see what time is what, until maybe the end of this episode. We have to watch the backstory and we’ll find that the first case JH worked on really needed to be solved. It happened in 1989.
The cases after that took place after 1989, and were months, or years apart. However for HY in 2015, he worked on them within weeks or months in that year.
Goosebump scene: Changes in time repercutes.
OooOO oo OOO OOO ooOOooOO OoOO ooOOOOoo
AAAAAAAWESOME.
@SD, is that a walkie talkie? I thought it is a walkman that the victim was listening to.
@SD, will try and go through your questions after this episode!! I don’t know the answers to some of them or most of them!
We find that while HY is searching for JH in his time, JH is searching for Hae Young in 1989. LOL.
@SD and @FF, that first radio was a normal radio playing music that the victim was listening to when she got attacked.
Oooh yes, GOOSEBUMP time…. something eerie is happening in HY’s time and something is changing in JH’s time.
The past has changed and no one except HY notices it!!! So frustrating.
@GB. Oh I see it now (had to go back and look for the 3rd time!). I thought the strap on the radio was the receiver on the the walkie talkie. Well that confusion is cleared up.
@SD…
“Is the murderer a cop?” – Won’t it spoil you to find out now?
“Is this why the walkie talkie seems to have a mind of its own? As in it ‘needs’ to right the wrong of being used in a crime of such horror?” – That’s my question too! The machine seems to be the one in-charge and connecting the 2 policemen. In fact it wants to connect all 3 of them. We know from how the Ep 1 had 3 clocks synchronised in time shown to us.
@GB yes history starts to change and on PHY is aware of the change.
@FF, Things become clearer in Ep 3.
@GB, hehe watching episode 3.
See you all next week,
See you next week. 😉
Just finishing. So this time travel has one thing in common with Nine. The person who is directly involved (PHY in episode 2) can observe the change from the previous time due to the effect on the past. No one else will (or so far).
@SD, yes, that’s right. So far…
By the way, in trying to get my head around time travel (this time around) and the future JH taking to PHY before PHY understood he was talking to someone in the past, I came across this Youtube video of the Big Bang Theory on the proper tenses to use to describe something that changes the past (which no longer would just be the past tense). The video is embedded in the article below (I typed in the URL having not yet mastered cut and paste in this comment section, lol). The YouTube video is Big Bang Theory, Season 8, Episode 5, 2014. Hilarious.

Hi @SD, oooh I really enjoyed ‘Big Bang Theory’!! Used to laugh myself under the table. Thanks for the link… will watch it soon!!
@SD, I saw the clip you suggested but I couldn’t access it so I went to YouTube and watched it there. Then I checked out all the Big Bang Theory scenes on time travel and saw a few. This one got me really laughing out LOUD!!!
@GB I was having bandwidth issues this weekend so could not access it until this morning. Hilarious! I love Penny’s monologue. And the effects of going forward in time. Thanks for sharing!
@SD, I am just today trawling YouTube for Big Bang video clips. I laughed so loudly my son was disgusted with me. Love them, especially the earlier seasons.
