We’ve been waiting for this cdrama ever since “Love O2O” (2016) starring Yang Yang and she-who-must-not-be-named. We thought it would be their comeback show.

Well, I have a mixed bag of news for you.
First, the good news. “Falling In Love With You…” is finally scheduled for release in 2025. Finally!!!
Hip hip hooray!
Next, the bad news. Yang Yang is no longer involved in the project. Booooo.
Last, the neutral news. Yang Yang will be replaced by Zhang LingHe. I don’t know much about this guy except that he’s pretty young and he was supposedly majoring in Electrical Engineering when the acting bug bit him.
Zhang LingHe was previously —
the male lead in “Maiden Holmes” (which I watched; he was okay),
the secondary male lead in “Love between Fairy and Devil” (if you can avert your eyes from Dylan Wang for a hot minute, Zhang LingHe was the other guy),
and the male lead in “The Princess Royal.” I’m currently watching this drama right now on Netflix. Remind me to write about this. I believe there are 40 episodes; I just finished Episode 5.
He isn’t Yang Yang, but he’ll do.

As the screenwriter wrote? collaborated? co-authored? had a hand in the creation of two cdramas I reviewed in this blog, namely, “Love 020” and “Hidden Love,” you can expect me to write another comprehensive (haha) review of this third drama.

Thank you for this update. I don’t mind ZLH. I want to watch The Princess Royal definitely. I don’t like the dropping of 6 episodes per week though. I’ll just binge watch it when all episodes are there.
Yang Yang is busy. I do miss him in modern dramas but I can’t get on board with his last drama. 😄
Thanks for the news and reminder @pkml3. I don’t mind Yang Yang, but I’m not an avid fan and it was his role in Love O2O that was the pull factor. While ZLH whom I watched in LBFD and a bit in the other one with Esther Yu (oh… My Journey to You), did not wow me, and while he is definitely not YY, he deserves more opportunities to gain experience. Yes, I’ll say the same as you and think “He’ll do.”

@agdr03, Actually I’m rewatching The Princess Royal slowly. I sped through as the episodes came out. As I was watching I read someone talk about the novel as this drama didn’t veer too far from the original. I got interested, and started reading a really good translated version, and felt I need to rewatch to catch all the parts I didn’t comprehend when I first watched. Anyway, it’s on Netflix! So I’ll continue this till The Best Thing.
I went to check on MDL…it states that it will come out on 2025??

It’s been a long while since I watched anything with Yang Yang in it. Seriously, I thought he’d given up acting and switched to attending fashion shows and doing ads for his many endorsements — like the Chinese version of Won Bin. 🙂

Me too! He is busy. He finished filming a costume drama but I’m not into the FL so I’m not sure if I’m game to watch it. 😊

Oh yeah. I just saw your rec, “Love Next Door” in the WAWW thread. It looks interesting and the actors, Jung Somin and Jung Haein, seem to be a good visual match.

ZLH seems to be the new flavor of the month.
I wonder what happened to the other actors I like, e.g., Leo Wu (Love Like a Galaxy/Amid a Snowstorm of Love) and Ren Jialun (One and Only/Forever and Ever). With so many fine actors in the field, it’s no wonder they feel pressured to accept role after role after role without taking break. They have to be continually performing to stay relevant.

I’m looking forward to a 帅(shuai4) handsome ZLH in The Best Thing. He is in so many historical dramas, and the next one Reborn For Love will come out first.
Meanwhile, loving The Royal Princess outfits and still being sucked into the story even the 2nd time round. It is the character development of the 2 leads on how they changed in their 2nd life that drew me in. Plus how they needed to navigate the palace politics with the benefit of hindsight. Savouring this drama again even though many kdramas beckons.
@pm3, the last I watched of Yangyang was Fireworks of my Heart. I prefer Yangyang in modern dramas to historical ones. Something about him in the pulled back hair that isn’t that great but his upcoming one, The Immortal Ascension, is hopeful, slated to come out in the 4th quarter. The trailer is looking really cool. FL in this drama is his ex-fg in YAMG hehe…

I’m on shallow island wrt to ZLH, even though my rational self tells me not to row over. He’s my current favourite actor for his youth, occasional blur-ness, honesty. He is kinda very trusting irl, if you have seen how they deceive him on set, like they will joke that this will happen, and everyone knows it is a joke but he believes it to be true.
I’d forgotten about this drama project. While I’m sorry YY isn’t involved anymore, I like the new leads. I’m enjoying Zhang Ling He in The Princess Royal and I’m looking forward to seeing him in a modern-day drama. The FL is Xu Ruo Han. I enjoyed her performance in Perfect & Casual. I’ll be interested to see how she has grown as an actor since P&C was 4 years ago.
