  1. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

    Much thanks @pkml3!

  2. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

Hi All, ready for a rather fraught and somewhat nerve-racking episode? I say rather and somewhat because the really nerve-racking ones come later!!!

  3. Hi @GB! I am ready. Viki has these as 24 episodes and as I am watching the first time and coming back to earlier episodes for the rewatch I find myself getting confused as to which episode I am really on. But I am ready!

  4. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

Hi @SD, if you’ve got the 24 episode series then today we’re watching Episodes 3 and 4. @WE and I have the 12-episode version of the series.

  5. Hi GB and SD.

  6. Yes, I figured it out. I needed a few extra sips of coffee though…

  7. Hi @WE!

  8. @SD, I’m taking a light coffee too, as I’m getting out of a gigantic nap.

  9. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

    Hi @WE!
I’m still a bit confused about stuff. But I’ll watch along and ask questions along the way.

  10. @GB, Ok, I think I get everything, except a small blurry point in last episode.

  11. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

@WE, @SD, I’m also having an oatside milk laced with coffee! I know it’s late for me, but I can sleep anyway.

    We start NOW!!!

  12. My version starts immediately with the announcement of the first death. Now, as I have watched a bit ahead, also cameos of deaths to come.

  13. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

@WE What small blurry point in Ep 1?

  14. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

@SD, those were the times the resetters passed out for a moment when they entered the reset.

  15. @GB, in episode 12, not episode 1. 🙂

  16. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

@WE, ah, then we have to wait until Ep 12.

  17. Oh no, it’s very bad luck someone dies at this moment, but nothing to worry about, no one else should die. 😀

  18. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

That was precisely my question… why did they not ask about the possible dangers? Going unconscious is a terribly dangerous situation to go through.

So the group are not quite united. Only about 6 of them get together while Ga Hyeon goes for therapy.

  19. As Lee Shin announces her seemingly real remorse, the music has this nice almost classical composition, but underneath the driving beat. The dissonance sets us up for tension (and perhaps distrust of LS). Sorry @WE, I am terrible at identifying music so I do not know which clip this is of those you sent us. It really suits the scene though.

  20. Hi GB, @WE & @SD.

I pre-watched the episode earlier so I should be better able to read the comments and watch at the same time.

  21. Lee Shin little attitudes: she like to always turns over a sandglass. Like if you have to pay her when you talk with her and time is limited. ^^
Notice how the sandglass turns into infiniti symbol (visual insert) for flashback transition.

  22. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

@WE, the first death really was an accident.

We do not expect anything further to happen to the resetters at this stage, but already GH who reset to get back her legs and dog, has lost her fiance and best friend.

  23. Hi @FF!

  24. I am a little late but I am here.

  25. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

Hi @FF! That’s good that you managed to watch it earlier. I still find this show a bit difficult to get a handle on at times.

  26. Hi FF.
@SD, I recognize the music but can’t memorize the titles too, except few ones, like “hourglass”.

  27. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

Hi @MM, I expected you since you went to sleep earlier to prepare for this party!! 🙂

  28. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

@WE, I noticed that she has 2 hour glasses. This one has black sand in it. The other one in her office has white sand. She’s trapped in time, in the year that she repeats.

  29. Hello,

I watched the episode earlier this week. Just stopping by to say hi.
The tension and the reveals are so good in this show!

  30. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

I don’t like the Gamer brat with headphones. He’s trying to be important or something by coming up with what’s going to happen next and the rationale for who dies next.

  31. Hi @MM!

@WE, at the later episode I am currently watching, I finally recognized Lee Shin’s timer was a sideways infinity symbol. But also has a perfect twisted loop and my mind has gone off in tangents — infinity is in reality undefined (mathematically), does this symbol represent an infinite looping (is Lee Shin caught also?), etc…

  32. @GB, number of red-herring and plot in the plot in the plot is impressive. So many time, writer put us on wrong path to better surprise with revelation.

Jae Young (pro-gamer) plays the role of the dude guessing there are rules. Helping a bit (or confuse) the audience. It’s really like in the movie “Final Destination” when a guy guess the deaths aren’t random.

  33. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

Hi @Snow Flower, yes great suspense.

I like the way this day is the day GH is supposed to have that accident in which she loses the use of her legs, and behind her calendar is a clay hand on her table in a ‘STOP’ sign, as if telling her she should not go out.

Of course, that dog has to run off again.

  34. Hi Snowflower.
Maru the dog comes here to break our nerves, so Ga Hyun goes out doing foolish and possibly dangerous walks.
Like here… oooohhh… the place she must avoid. The one of her accident.

  35. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

@SD, what I liked about this Show is that the protagonists had a choice. They now have to live with the consequences. All are supposed to be trying to change the choices of this time, and we get to see who is successful.

Lee Shin also had a choice. She could choose to loop indefinitely or not.

  36. Hi @Snow Flower.

Once again the imagery is wild. The pan down GH’s legs to the glass over the blue pond, art installation, what? but the sense that her legs are over something fluid and unstable, and then later the blue macaroon becomes that glass, exactly, and the small round side tables echo the imagery.

  37. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

@WE, Yes,… I was thinking about the misdirection from the beginning… when we thought HJ was the bad guy but actually he’s the good guy.

Already we have been lied to… but we cannot tell truth from lies yet.

  38. @SD, however, unlike Sysiphus drama, we learn later there were not infinite loops in this story.
A shot in a mirror with multiple reflections foreshadow the number of loops, 6 or 7. I don’t remember in what scene, it was Ga Hyun images.

  39. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

@SD, yes I like the camerawork and imagery. We are constantly being teased. Is that therapy session as innocuous as the macaroon which is soft and comforting…. but imprinted on the hard and cold glass floor surrounded by hard pebbles. What are we to feel or believe. Is Lee Shin two-faced?

  40. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

@WE somewhere in the show it was mentioned that Lee Shin looped 6 times.

And so Ga Hyeong tries her best to stay home and be safe from cars, but somehow either dog or friend/person will call her out.

  41. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

Fate seems to have changed… now that Ju Young is no longer GH’s friend, something happens to JY instead.

  42. I wonder why the dog is behaving this way. We may never.
Know. A trained dog would not be doing this.

Maybe not that relevant an observation. But since my daughter was just training a dog it’s on my mind

  43. Dialog right on point “I want you to disappear of my life”, with tragic follow up. Oh! Rings a bell? Used in the drama No Gain No Love but without serious consequence. 🙂

  44. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

Another hit and run accident… but a different victim… however the same perpetrator.

  45. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

@MM actually that Maru dog bothers me. He’s very undisciplined, running off when his owner is with him and she never trains him to do better. He was the cause of her accident in the other timeline.

Important question… she asks Lee Shin if her fate is taken over by her friend.

  46. Hi MM. The dog act this way just to break the nerves of the audience. It’s the most realistic explanation. 🙂

HJ could change his fate by saving his sunbae, but now what changed Ga Hyun fate? Just the fact she didn’t go in the place of the accident? So someone else die? Is it karma balance? If someone is saved, then someone else die? Kind of question we could ask now.

Next, Lee Shin performs hypnosis sceance, she’s talentuous, it works on first try.

  47. Seems like reset does not work, the same event happens again but to a different person (referring to Ga Yeon’s friend who died in a hit and run accident).

  48. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

@WE, cannot compare this show with ‘No Gain, No Love’ …. totally different genre and set up.

So now we get the hypnosis scene, and her memory of the accident.

  49. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

@FF, even after going back to the previous year, things happen beyond the resetters control sometimes…. but there are also things that they can choose and change.

  50. It’s fun to rewatch, even after rewatching. I can focus on many details. How well handled it is by director/editor/sound effects, and small details of screenplay reinforcing the tension or surprise, transitions.

  51. How does Lee Shin know that it is the same driver in the hit and run?

The tree at Lee Shin’s home, it looks like the same place in another drama Dali and the Cocky Prince.

  52. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

Junkyard… Bae Jung Tae is there crushing the car… now we want to know why.

  53. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

@WE, I like the scene transitions too. LOL just as HJ says he won’t go anywhere without his partner, he runs off on his own.

Now GH is out again and with Seo Yeon Soo at the park. It was the car she was in that hit GH. What are the odds? Surely these resetters were chosen because they were somehow connected with each other?

  54. @GB, is Bae Jun Tae one of the resetters too?

  55. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

@FF, it might be the same place as Dali. But in Dali, it didn’t look so cold. It looked more artistic.

Lee Shin said that as the accident took place in the same time and place, then the driver might be the same.

  56. Now Yun Soo says it would be her ex-husband fault for the car accident, but that she wasn’t in the car this time. Hum…
Assistant dies at the hospital. Better to delay her death now than makes her die on the road, so we get an emotional reaction from Ga Hyun.

  57. The dog is an anomaly in this drama. He already knows HJ and runs to him, he shows up at Hwang No Sub’s coffee shop; he seems to already have been in multiple loops similar to Lee Shin or how would this ‘coincidences’ happen?

  58. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

@FF, yes. At my first watch I didn’t recognise Bae Jung Tae but now I do. He reset with them but he’s very unfriendly. He’s an ex-convict.

Poor Ga Hyeon, now she’s lost her best friend as well. In the past she didn’t die but her friend died. The last words she said to her friend were most unfortunate.

  59. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

@WE, yes show builds up the pathos and emotion… so we feel the loss also at the time that the characters do.

  60. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

@SD, the dog’s 6th sense with regards to HJ is never explained. Fortunately it never ran away again to cause more accidents.

  61. Ultra fast flashback during the conversation when she understands Yun Soo lied, linked to flashback of hypnosis sceance, return in the scene, more flashback, all of that at high speed with scary music woooooooooo!!!!!!
This drama is rushing like hell.

  62. Ga Yeon avoided losing her legs but lost her friend and she said the worst thing to her friend just before she was hit by the car. Ga Yeon will always be burdened by this.

  63. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

So now GH and HJ realise what lies have been told.

It’s strange that Seo Yeon Seo ran back to the car and sat in the passenger seat if she had been the driver. I don’t understand that part… but GH insists that she’s the culprit and not the boyfriend.

  64. “Hourglass” mystery music when they visit junkyards. Spatial sound.

  65. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

@WE, this show makes good use of flashbacks and music.

I like this partnership between HJ and GH. HJ gets back his partner in Sun Ho but we don’t see them working together much.

GH is so smart, she’s a real asset as a partner. She thinks to ask for the car camera’s footage.

  66. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

@FF, yes… GH admitted that she only thought about changing the past to get the good stuff but didn’t expect so much bad stuff to take place.

LOL HJ cannot tell his colleagues what he is up to and he’s so suspicious. This police team is very free… no violent crimes to investigate???

  67. @GB, there maybe another flashback showing that. Until now it’s a scene with always more details unfolding each flashback. I think as she was driver and did the accident, the guy took driving back, as she’s probably too perturbed now to drive.

  68. A new image in the Xion compound when GH rushes by taxi back to talk with Lee Shin. They stop between two glass structures and they look like they are insects trapped in amber or in a snow globe or something. Very disturbing visual effect amplified once again by the music.

  69. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

Plastic surgeon Kim Dae Sung gets caught for scrapping the car that did the hit and run. But Gh cannot get a warrant, he will need to find the witness. But he does not know that it’s Bae Jung Tae.

  70. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

@WE, yes, that’s possible about changing drivers. Anyway it was the guy who brought the car to be scrapped.

Now GH accuses Lee Shin for deliberately choosing the resetters who are connected. Lee Shin is so convincing. I never knew to what extent she lied.

  71. Lee Shin always like “oh, this happened like that, how disturbing, I need to think about that”, like she knows nothing. 😀
    She lies or not? ^^

  72. @SD, Aish, I missed the shot, busy with writing!

  73. @SD Your comment made me think About the dog’s role in this drama. I will pay more attention to that

  74. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

Shock upon shock… GH goes to the funeral parlour for Ju Young… but someone else is dead as well. Who and how? It’s the security guard resetter.

  75. The hypnosis appears to take place in the same office as the initial session between Lee Shin and GH (the clicking balls are the same and are similarly placed) but now the blue circle is square! The sense of being suspended over something potentially harmful is the same though (though again, the music!)

  76. One of the reseters (the blonde girl) was the main actress of Strong Girl nam Soon. 😉
The old man: you saw him in tons of dramas. He plays good guys but I saw him in bad guys roles too.

  77. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

@WE @SD, I didn’t see the glass and insect image either. I went back to look but couldn’t see it.

Misdirection, we are shown as if it’s a flashback that the security guard died of a heart attack.

  78. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

@MM the dog was only important in these 2 episodes. Not so much after this.

  79. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

@SD, the blue floor of the therapy room looks like a hole of water into which one might fall and drown. Not quite the kind of room I want to hang out in.

  80. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

@WE, yes these actors are in several shows. I liked the old guy in I Hear Your Voice.

Now to listen to Seo Yeon Seo… is she telling the truth?

  81. @GB, the image is right as GH runs into the compound and meets with Lee Shin (my episode 3, so the first half of your episode 2).

  82. I find this drama spooky, people dying one by one when they are supposed to be given a second chance to change their lives.

  83. The two women start to talk.
I notice a very short shot from the stairs.
    Damn director!
So we get again flashbacks of the situation.

  84. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

@SD, ok I’ll look for that scene later.

  85. Director does a short shot of hers with a security camera in front now. 😉

  86. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

@FF yes… it gets so chilling.

It gets confusing too … Seo Yeon Soo is not exactly a good person. She says her boyfriend threatened her. GH is upset and meets with the rest to tell them about what Seo YS said. It seems she was deliberately asked to join the reset.

But we find out that Seo YS is now dead!!!

  87. @SD & @GB I will also look for the scene later. hehe

  88. And… Yun Soo is dead.
    Guess how?
Fall in the stairs of course. ^^
And Ga Hyun was seen of security camera. ^^

  89. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

This is just the 2nd episode, and we have so many dead.

Delivery man (Resetter) (accident because he had fallen unconscious during the reset while he was driving)
Friend Hyung Ju (victim of a hit and run by Kim Dae Sung)
Security Guard (Resetter) (Had a heart attack???)
Seo Yeon Soo (Resetter) (Accidentally fell down the stairs in the park???)

    Scary!!!

  90. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

@WE, it was fortunate for GH that she’s ‘famous’ and people took photos of her. She needed an alibi to get out of trouble.

  91. @GB, yes, it’s almost a slasher movie. 😀

  92. Huh Seo Yoon Soo is dead? …

  93. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

@FF @SD @WE, I think I found the scene… timestamp 24:00 into the episode. The two women are standing between the buildings with shiny surfaces in front of that horrible fake tree.

  94. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

@FF, yes, out of the blue, most unexpectely, Seo YS dies. Why????

  95. @GB, the pyramid is green light and there is like a tree in it.

  96. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

@WE, are you referring to the image of the tree in the pyramid in Ep 2 or Ep 1?

  97. @GB, sounds like the correct scene.

I need to go back and check episode 1. Didn’t GH also code like her friend? But if so, she was revived. It does seem very much like someone must go through that accident (the position of the victims is identical in both scenes). And different than HJ’s reset, where no one seems to have taken the place of his friend and fellow police officer, the one who was murdered.

  98. Here, there were a possibility: A cliffhanger showing the death of Yun Soo. But writer chose a double cliffhanger, death of YS by “tell” + Ga Hyun investigated by Hyung Joo, what create also a shock between two leads. (photo image of security camera to put a little “show” in the scene)

  99. @GB, it was about what you said, episode 2, at 24:00.

  100. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

@SD, there does not seem to be any particular law or rule that this reset follows. It’s just that characters have to keep making choices and there are consequences for them and others. The complications come in because even non-resetters affect the flow of events. They can be victims and perpetrators.

  101. Then, the director put a blurry effect around the characters, to get this suffocating atmosphere between the two walls.

  102. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

@WE, yes Show has put in so much conflict for GH at the end of Ep 2. Loss of friend, tension between her and partner HJ, suspicion falls on her over Seo YS. And it happens in front of the others and before she can tell them that she had been ‘set up’ to meet Seo YS.

The resetters seem to be pieces of a game being played by someone. They naively agreed to reset and now find themselves stuck in a game that they don’t know the rules of. So the Gamer brat keeps trying to find or make the rules to make sense of the situation.

  103. @GB, I think ‘Gamer brat’ is a good nom de plume for Go Jae Young!

  104. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

@SD, yes, I think so too. He’s a gamer and his attitude is bratty. Later we find out that he lives in a nice place and has money.

  105. I have yet to Read some of the comments above.

I guess the perpetrator of the hit-and-run did not consider how that might play out on a second chance To live the year. It is mysterious though that she says she went back to break up with her Husband
D because he had become abusive.

I am about three quarters of the way through the episode.

  106. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

@MM, enjoy the rest of the episode.

See what you think of its ending.

  107. One thing I wanted to comment on before I forget again. It seems to happen before the reset, but it is not clear. Early in this episode, GH is drawing in the park. We see the people she is drawing and at first it looks like she is just drawing them, then we realize she adds blood and gore to the scenes: the women lying on her boyfriends lap on the park bench gets a knife in her chest, drawing of the woman followed by her boyfriend shows him with a knife in his hand, the women taking a picture of another woman (?) shows the same woman standing, but the other is hanging from the tree. It might just be first drafts of the webtoon she is working on, but it also gives the impression that GH has a very, very dark view of the world.

  108. @GB the person who plays Gamer Brat is either a good actor or well-directed. As soon as he hears of Seo Yun Soo’s death his eyes flick to the left. You can just see the gears working out what is the new rule.

  109. At this point, it’s easier to give a nickname to characters, because there are too many to remember. Gamer-brat looks the right one for him. 😉

  110. @GB I was indeed up bright and early but got side trackd by clips from Love 020 on Facebook. When I tried previously to watch this drama all the game senes at the beginning put me off but now I will watch it.

In the drama we are watching, I am enjoying the gamer’ role. Some out of the box thinking and good deductive reasoning(apart from the detective) may be very helpful in this drama.

Although this seems to have turned into a mystery, the so called butterfly(if that is the right term in this case) effect is manifesting itself as the lead female becomes embroiled in a whole new difficult situation. Who else will end up a part of the new chain of events?

I will need to rewatch and reread to understand the comments about setting and directing.

I did notice at the end when she is returning home that she walks past the frosted glass of her windows symbolizes the obscurity of what is really going on.

  111. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

@SD, I took it that since GH’s web novel is called ‘Hidden Killer’, she draws murder as a matter of course. In any case, that was a dream, I believe. She had a nightmare that Maru ran off and she got hit by the car.

  112. @GB Maybe she should have gone back to the past to train her 🐕 😉

  113. This drama is playing with the ideas of fate, coincidence, and other time travel ideas in a novel way.

  114. It is off particular note that the psychiatrist tells the hit and run perpetrator to just stay alive until she can do another time reset.

I guess this foreshadowed her death but what is it saying about the nature of the resets and the larger picture?

  115. @GB The 2 leads make a good team .

We know that even before they team up , from his avid reading of her webtoon, how he reads her work like it is a “real” crime novel.

Clever way to connect the characters.
