  2. Whoops! I didnโ€™t know you started last week! I surely dropped the ball in that one, didnโ€™t I? Iโ€™m sorry.

    Okay, Iโ€™ll rename this thread.

  3. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

My dear @pkml3, no need to apologise! You have so many balls to juggle. Regardless of the thread, we all had a blast at party time.

    Thanks for renaming this thread!

  4. @Pm3. Woo! Just in time, thanks.
I propose you to watch this drama, if you have time.
Because you could be interested by… THE SCREENPLAY !!!
Yep, the real one, not a transcript.
Translated thanks to Grok3 AI. It did it x10 better than dedicated translation softs.

    LINK to the 18 episodes:
    https://drive.google.com/file/d/17enIbpi5KOMNiyh48PaKj7kfELo-5fG_/view?usp=sharing

I’ll maybe upload a new version later. I need to check again episodes 5 to 9.
I’ve redone episodes 1-4, I don’t know if there are lot of changes compared to the previous version. It’s just I updated to a better protocol for AI, so I translated them again.

  5. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

    Much thanks @WE!

I wonder if @pkml3 would be able to ignore the courtroom scenes. I liked them but I know she said she avoided ‘law’ shows. I thought it was interesting how they found loopholes in making a case for the defence, or how they illustrated with experiments to show reduced culpability.

Through the trials in court we see the growth of our protagonists. What a difference when they put their heart and proper thought into each case (and some cases were so heart-wrenching!) and how they became better characters.

See/read you in less than 4 hours time!

  6. @GB, I don’t take this drama as a legal one, but good feeling one. Yet, it’s true there are regular courtroom scenes. What makes them exceptional is the telepathic power. I liked a lot the court scenes in my first watch. They have suspens, twists, etc. Probably a legal expert could say they are not realistics? I vaguely remember they cite laws used. What I find incredible because the writer needs to be more expert than expected. Or maybe get advice from a legal expert when building the script.

Court cases do something I don’t like however, is the “procedural” feeling. But I don’t remember the legal cases are in the mode “one episode = one case”. It’s more messy and blurry. Mixed with personnal lifes of protagonists (one case is SH friend, another the killer of the drama, another SH himself). Add to that the rivalry of HS and Do-Yeon. Really I don’t feel boredom into this. Some cases deeply impact the philosophy of some characters. I remember a case about Kwan Woo. It’s really something like “I was wrong during all my life”. It then has an impact how he behaves after that.

  7. I am up early today, Anticipating a day inside, Because we are expecting an ice storm here on the east coast. The temperature though is a little above zero so maybe not.

I am prereading the script for episode two.

    I need to.
Double check that it is ten a m today on the east coast right? It is eight am here now.

  8. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

@MM It’s 8.36 my time now so we’ll start the party in less than 1.5 hours time… if that’s any help! Your time should be 12 hours behind mine so 10am?

  9. Yes, that confirms the time for me.Thank you

  10. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

@WE, Yes, those are the reasons I like the trials in this Show. I guess @pkml3 is a legal expert herself and cannot bear to see the lack of realism.

The tension and suspense was very well done for each case.

  11. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

Hi Everyone, it’s time to start our party. I was reading the script and feared I’d forget to come to the party! Let’s start NOW!!!

  12. Back here. Hi MM & GB.

I could read half episode 2 script.
Woo! So good to get korean pro-screenplay with enough good translation. When I’ll have time, I’ll redo translation of W or other kdramas.

  13. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

@WE, how do you get hold of korean drama scripts? Are they available on the Web?

  14. I am at eighteen minutes. So much fun after reading this script- The scenes are so well done.

I am hoping not to lag so far behind today.

  15. Hello everyone, I am here.

  16. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

Hi @FF, we missed you last week!

  17. Hi @WE, @GB, @MM, and @FF

  18. Hi @GB, I fell asleep while waiting for the party to start last week. ๐Ÿ˜€ I really like this drama, I have watched up to episode 10. It is still so good after so many years.

  19. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

    Hi @SD!
HS begins by working only for the money, without caring for the defendants.

  20. Hi @SD.

  21. Hi FF and SD.

@GB, got them on a korean blog difficult to find. But only some older dramas are on it. Then, in Korea screenplayes are selling well since few years. They found that people like to read the stories of kdramas in this way. If a screenplay is in a pdf or e-book, anyway I could get the data, then it’s maybe possible to translate. But I don’t know how they sell that. It’s hasardeous to try.

  22. 3 minutes Mother and congratulatory flyers and signs-This would be embarrasssing for many daughters. mom says she is proud. HS views it in monetary terms. well done scenes with sparring between mother and daughter.

  23. This scene is excellent in the screenplay. DO-Yeon + Sung-bin. Every detail is into, and how the twist and tension is in the scene. Then, last line I couldn’t think about, end not only on Sun-Bin expression, but the plate of DO-yeon too.

  24. SB laughs hysterically about the interviewer’s name. Meanwhile her name means nose ( contrast with her calling the bullied girt double nose.)

  25. Ladys and gentlemen, DO-Yeon is our drama bitch on this one. We’ll have fun. ๐Ÿ˜€

    Bad Soo-Ha, don’t even care about Sung-Bin.

  26. 11 minutes Such great energy when HS is running to thecourthouse. He even kisses the motor cyclist’s helmut.

  27. Hi @WE,

I like Lee Jong Suk in this drama, he able to deliver childlike expressions befitting of a student of that age. Good acting skills.

  28. Jjang means “super”, the whole expression Jjang-byun makes “super-attorney”. ๐Ÿ™‚

  29. Since I am.
Ahead today, I do not want to post before others have seen the scenes. I will give myself a few minutes past elapsed time before posting.

  30. 313:50 Hilarious exchange about her wallet. She deflects from her embarrassment, as she did with her embarrassment about her mother’s way of congratulating her. On top of her embarrassment about the wallet now GW embarrases her again with his comments about her beauty. Lawyer Jjang(perfect) he calls her. Then she embarrasses herself about her neww boss’ denture, which falls to the ground in front of her. 17 minutes She is asked by YC to apologize-seems like a very difficult challenge for her. I only get the significance of the coffee cups now after reading the script-that hers is from a cheap coffee store. When she lickss her thumb defiantly it lookd like an obscene gesture.

Dare I say the che*istr* is really good. So many scenes between different characters are strong.

  31. In the script, when Sung-Bin enters, it reads “Sung-Bin, the blonde, enters”. And it an awesome trick I used myself in “Alien surgeon”, repeat a character trait to improve reader acquisition of the characters, because it can go very fast about characters and it’s not easy to remember them all. I didn’t see this trick used in any western screenplay. I used it because it sounded a valid tactic to me. So, I’m really glad that a top korean screenwriter used it too. It makes my choice even more valid.

  32. Haughty Hye Sung always refusing to apologize. Soo Ha feeling excited when he found Hye Sung, preparing his opening line when he meets her.

  33. However she has orange hair and that is what is said in the drama. But your point is still well taken.

This is what is so good about having this script to see the differences between script and production.

  34. HS says herself the doomed sentence: “say you made it and apologize”. And it will come back in her face later, as it’s exactly a situation she had to go througth in her past. Somehow, she lost herself with time.

  35. Now we see the contrast in how each of the new public defenders deal with their first cases.

I got a good laugh at GW When he says he learned sign language and then on top of that he is learning braille.

  36. Are you all reading the script? But I can’t open the file from @WE’s link.

  37. One of the good feeling song of the drama, as he follow her. AIIIIYAH, I said it again, this drama is so warmfull.

  38. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

I just love how our 2 male protagonists start with idealism. SH imagines HS to be a good attorney who would fight for the underdog. Kwan Woo thinks all poor defendants are truthful and have a good reason for the crimes they committed.

But then they face a total opposite in reality.

I guess HS cynicism is because of how her mother raised her as well as because of the bad experience of being falsely accused and being expelled from school. She’s arrogant and does not seem to be warm or people-oriented at all.

She does not even look at SH who saves her from falling in the bus!

  39. @FF, it’s a zip. Download. Uncompress. Read it with the most basic .txt reader. Bloc-note, notepad++, or probably anything else, as it’s the most simple file in the world, a .txt

  40. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

@MM unlike HS who is cynical and jaded already, without interest in her profession, KW is like an idealistic child.

  41. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

@FF, the script is in a zipped file. You need to download and extract the files first. All 18 episodes are there in text format.

  42. Kwan Woo is simplistic to think that all those whom he defends are kind good soul. But he was a policeman before, why would he still be so naive?

  43. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

@FF, your comment is exactly my comment last week. I wondered why the hard nosed cop disappeared and became an eager beaver boy lawyer so full of idealism.

  44. @FF, ah yeah, maybe we got a logical hole about that. And even best, if you are cop, you becomes quickly able to detect liars, because you see so many of them.

  45. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

@MM I’m surprised that Sung Bin is so totally alone. No one came to help her over her trial.

  46. @FF How could he have possibly survived as a policeman?

  47. What a scene full of stress and emotion. Now Soo-Ha is really her man!!! The only one to trust her, saving her life.

  48. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

@WE we find out much later why KW wanted to become a lawyer. It was had something to do with the balding Lawyer Shin, with the dentures LOL.

  49. @WE @GB, downloaded the files. This is the first time I am ready a script like this, interesting.

Soo Ha finally hears how helpless Seung Bin is and he managed to rescue her from jumping into the train track.

  50. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

@WE so we understand why SB always had admiration for SH.

Now is the weird part of how the lawyer does not even check the basic facts. His defendants mother died and the police who arrested her were female officers. What a fool he made of himself.

  51. Kwan Woo likes to call Jjang Byeon so loudly in public, I feel her embarrassment too.

  52. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

@FF, KW changes over time but it’s hard to fathom how he can be so socially inept or unaware as to not know he’s embarrassing HS in public.

  53. @GB, the lady said her mother still lives in her heart, lol. Rookie lawyer who didn’t check the facts.

  54. Now the detail she was blonde before even more important. Now she wears the regular uniform of school, with natural brown hair.

  55. When he follows her home and the song is playing, The looks on his face as he stares up to the apartment are adorable.

  56. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

HS had to be pushed out of the lift in order for her to meet Do Yeon again. She too never read her notes properly. Do Yeon’s name was on it but she did not know. She got kicked out of school because of DY and she had to be pushed out of the lift to meet her again.

  57. Now, it’s personnal affair!!! HS has to win, not for Sung-Bin, but because it’s AGAINST Do-Yeon! What a motivation!! ๐Ÿ™‚

  58. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

@MM, SH is aboy in love with his ‘idol’. He’s idolised HS so much over the years that he cannot believe she’s the uncaring, unfeeling lawyer Sung Bin says she is.

  59. I like the way Lawyer Shin tries to bring Kwan Woo back to reality, highlighting that some people are hard core criminals, and they still have to defend them. Then throwing him the question how he is going to defend these criminals.

  60. AAhahah, he grabs her like a bag of potatoes.

  61. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

@WE, to make matters worse or what worsens SH’s opinion of her, HS actually tells Sung Bin to just say ‘Yes’ to everything. And the main motivation is because HS does not want to lose in front of Do Yeon, or for Sung Bin to make her look bad. HS is blunt and truthful, but her attitude is so bad.

  62. I realized that Soo Ha has always spoke to Hye Sung in banmal, casual Korean between friends.

  63. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

@WE, I love the bag of potatoes part! He’s a total stranger to her but he just carries her off without hesitation.

  64. @GB She is his idol.

When she is speaking with her mother on the phone in her apartment and the light comes on because he has fixed it, the symbolism of his being the one to bring safety and light back into her life is apparent.

  65. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

@FF yes, SH has never spoken to HS in polite language. He’s always considered that they have a bond of sorts but to her, he is a stranger and a mere kid.

  66. The scene between SH and Seung Bin at the subway is so well acted. I had to look up their ages. In 2013 both actors are very young, in their teens like the characters they portray.

  67. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

@MM yes, but at this stage, she is not in actual danger from the Killer, however she’s the one hurting her own prospects and image by her selfish behaviour and lack of concern for others. So SH saves her from herself.

His coming certainly made a difference in her attitude moving from indifference to becoming more caring.

  68. @GB strangely Hye Song never ask Soo Ha why is he speaking to her in banmal. Usually speaking in banmal to someone who is older/elder is deemed rude in Korean culture. The older person will ask that the younger person speak in formal language.

  69. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

@FF, I feel it could be because HS herself is always so rude to others that she does not entirely bother about SH being rude to her. She does ask him later but he gets away with it.

  70. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

SH gets hit with the reality of how the law is not as fair as he might have imagined it. It’s not the truth that wins in court but what wins determines the truth. What a blow to his idealism.

  71. @SD, I thought that scene was well acted too. When Seong Bin looked up at Soo Ha, helpless and eyes red from crying. I did not calculate their age in 2013 but they really in their teens then?

  72. Last scene. Why is it so good. Now we can start to answer a bit to that, as we made the analys of first episode of Castaway Diva. It’s because of the resistance to the conclusion. In Castaway Diva, the male lead was like antagonist to female lead, and it’s why when they unite, it’s powerfull. We have same process here. HS didn’t want to plead innocent and was very resistant. And after maaaany scenes that erodes her wrong confidence… we finally get the final twist, she just look at Soo-Ha, asking questions in her mind, and he shakes head “yes”. By the way also a scene using the high-concept. Put the right BGM here, and we get a huge cliffhanger!!!

  73. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

SH is so disappointed in his idol. She’s so cynical, so indifferent and such a bad lawyer. He throws away her journal but then picks it up again. His vow to protect her has a higher priority. It also shows he can never throw her out of his life.

  74. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

LOL the judges think that HS is nice but then she starts screeching and stomping as she goes around the turnstile door. Heheheh!

Now we come to the first trial where SH and HS communicate through their eyes and gestures.

  75. HS’s words drip with arrogance. scene about truth in court before he throws out and then retrieves the journal.

  76. @FF. Too little coffee for me today! I am off by a decade. They are in their twenties at the time of filming. Sorry.

  77. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

Hearing that Sung Bin really looked like how HS herself had looked when pleading her innocence finally makes HS change the plea to not guilty.

  78. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

@WE, I love the twist. All things pointed one way but with just 1 piece of information, HS turned everything around by pleading Sung Bin’s innocence. I loved how SH smiled at that and the shock on everyone else’s face.

  79. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

@MM at the end, HS finally meets SH’s expectations. Once again because of him, she goes against the grain to stand up for the truth. This is the light that he inadvertently shines into her life, that she starts to work with a bit more fervour and dedication to truth, to really defend her clients.

  80. @GB. Yep. Create the opposite direction first, with resistance. And at last moment, inversion!! And with that full powerfull emotion. Well, we just start to understand how writer Park Hye Rhin is so amazing about powerfull emotions in all of her dramas. Just one of my top 5 best korean screenwriter.

  81. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

@SD, yes, they are in their twenties, playing the part of teens. They manage it so well.

The music is so good at stirring up expectation and suspense.

  82. Dear All, I am going to zzzzzz but I will read the scripts for the next episode for next week. Thanks to @WE. See you all next week.

  83. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

    See you @FF!

  84. Bye @FF

  85. The subway scene is so good, as others have noted. The tension, as well as the acting, was well
    Played.

Adding to the richness of that scene for me, The note in the script says that it is an unbarricaded subway. I would
not have remembered, just watching the Show that many subway platforms in japan and korea are barricaded.

  86. Well , I actually managed to finish more or less with everyone else!

Thank you all and have a good week.

  87. @GB Nice point about this being Another time that he inspires her towards Standing up for the truth.

  88. I do love the way that HS uses the revolving doors to think through her moral dilemmas. It gives a visual for ‘going round and round in her mind’, LOL.

  89. @SD I was having exactly the same thought about the revolving doors. She is going around and around in her mind, as though. She is stuck but I think she also moves forward in how she expresses herself in the last revolving door scene.

    I can’t.
Remember whether there are any other revolving door scenes. But it will be interesting to see.

  90. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

@MM yes, HS seems to need an extra push to get her past her fears. When she was a teenager, it was Do Yeon daring her to go to court to testify as witness that got her going. She regretted it like crazy, but she did the right thing. As a result her life would always have 2 additional people coming around: SH and Killer Min.

After this meeting with SH, his presence and his challenges to her lack of care for self/home/others have an impact for the good.

  91. I’ve to go. Have a good week!

  92. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

@SD I love those revolving doors also. They play quite an important role too as we’ll see later on. We see the ‘wheels’ in her mind working.

  93. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

@MM there are 2 or 3 more revolving door scenes. There’s a very important one towards the end of the series.

  94. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

Bye @WE, @SD, @MM. See you next week!

  95. @GB The looks On the faces of others in the courtroom after she pleads not guilty Really Add to the richness of the scene. We understand even better that pleading.Innocent did not fit with the prosecution statement.Or the evidence. Just how much she is going against the grain.
