Hi @pkml3, thanks for the 2 threads. I’ll be back after a tiring but hopefully fruitful day.
See everybody later!
I’m yawning and trying to wake up after a nap, but I’m here! (Sort of!)
Will be back in 9 minutes.
@GB I hope your day was successful.
Just starting my day here and RL is commanding my attention. Will try to join.
Hi @MM, RL has that kind of effect! I spend today very busily from going to the polls (we had our General Election today!) to preparing for formation for adults, to the formation itself, etc. I’m exhausted, but I managed to wake up for this party!
Hello MM and GB.
Hi @WE! Let’s start NOW!
Hello @GB and @MM. Goodness @GB what a full day! After Easter week, I have been having mostly slow, easy days. Though part of that is trying not to get too tired!
We start with a scary nightmare… but the nightmare ends with someone saving HS. We don’t get to see whom.
Start with a dream sequence, but not indicated as such in the script. SJJ use a special keyword for that. But it happened I did myself a dream sequence without the keyword because it was spoiling reader pleasure and surprise to know it. (just it’s clear just after, like here).
Hello @WE
Hi SD.
This episode has two guidelines:
The dream and the phone tracker.
Hi @SD, trying not to get too tired is always a given! SH says he hangs around her, not because of the debt but has to hide the real reason why.
Poor kid watches as Cha comes along to ‘steal’ his first love’s attention.
I actually pity Cha. He just happened to fall for the one woman he was SH’s first love and then events turned against him bit by bit.
There is suddenly a big noise outside my window: hey, it’s raining litteraly ice cubes here!! Famous “Giboulée de printemps”.
This episode has a lot of misdirection in these first few scenes. I certainly thought SH was attacked in real life in the first bit. Then there is the standard ‘romantic’ wipe something off the mouth of your love interest, almost always between two leads. Also humor/lightheartedness and fear mixed, one scene following the other.
Ooh @WE! It’s raining Hail stones!
Noisy outside but noisy in HS’s office as well. She gets a sore throat but gets to unburden her woes by just letting SH read her mind instead of having to speak. That’s a real advantage to having a fried who can read her mind.
I like the scene when HS speaks on purpose to Soo-Ha. It’s like it becomes their usual thing now. Well, it has still a reason, she has no more voice after screaming on the old man.
SH has enough money from his parents so that he can pay to have Min’s phone tracked.
Cha thinks of SH as a young kid but SH sees Cha as a rival.
“Speaks telepathically” ofc, well, otherwise huh, my comment was no-sens. lol!
@WE, only we on this thread understand what you mean whether you use telepathically or not. LOL.
This is the continuation of how HS learns to see matters from the client’s point of view.
All 3 lawyers are in disagreement over Deaf Grandpa’s case. And the worse thing for Cha is that he gets assigned the case when he wants to take HS’s side. LOL I like seeing the 3 judges. They are always mistaken or shocked in how they judge people outside the courtroom incorrectly.
Yoo Chang becomes the ping-pong ball in the disagreement between HS and Yoon. They can hear each other but HS and Yoon refuse to communicate directly.
Deaf Grandpa can’t hear but he causes such a ruckus. But HS really did not try to hear his voice, while Cha shows the way to see the client’s point of view.
When the weekend comes for HS to visit Mum, it’s time for Killer Min to get into action.
Best speaking at court from attorney Cha ever.
HS will take THE LESSON !!
Oh clever, @GB! The light bulb went on for me. I was not really thinking of the meaning of the title beyond the obvious that SH can hear the voice of people’s thoughts. But you are right! There is that additional layer throughout these episodes, hearing the voice of the one who is wronged, and not just in the obvious way, but understanding the reasons behind their actions, ‘their point of view’.
@WE, yes HS watches Cha in action, and this time he does well and she learns from him how to understand the client and why he stole.
@GB, the writer doesn’t hesitate to setup this in front of our eyes, with the scene when Min shuts down the camera. So we are now in dramatic-irony mode, we know but characters don’t know. We can just hope something will jam his plan. Or being unsure of what could really happens.
@SD, I only started to get these insights into why the title of the show is as it is upon this rewatch!
I sometimes says that, but what is the best twist? We often expect something will prevent a bad situation, but ultimatly the best twist is there is no one, and something disrupting seriously the narrative happens.
Everybody is now hostage of the turning table because of HS and prosecutor endless battle. 😀
Soo-Ha makes it in a way that granpa can’t think he has pity for him, but just calculation about reduced price for 3 breads. So first he uses telepathy, then chooses the best strategy according to people feeling. What he does most of the time, by the way.
Lee Jong-Suk in a costume.
+10% divorce rate in China. LOL!!
“Romantic” high-five one. 🙂
Of course, as in any love triangle situation, the 3d person is ALWAYS here to witness it. I guess it part of the magic of kdramas. LOL.
@WE Poor SH dressed like an adult and even wears a suit to be more grown up but it still cannot compete against Cha who’s the adult.
@WE Double love triangles. Soon Bin also in a love triangle and witnesses that SH is also in some kind of love triangle.
Grandpa gives HS a warm yoghurt drink LOL. But at least he apologises as Cha had requested.
Finally Min clicks on the text and can be traced.
“Once you are born, life is already too short to live others”.
GODLY LINE.
“to love others”, not “to live”.
Shit, I fail my comments today.
So real life just left the house. I wish I could type telepathically, Then I could multitask better.
@WE, you have a struggle with comments, I struggle with staying awake!
I come to the end with HS and mum’s conversation. The most important thing: she listened to her mum’s voice (and now we will watch the rest to see if she followed through).
@MM, you don’t need to type telepathically if your learn to type (with 10 fingers). It’s what I do, and it’s so fast that anyway I have to stop to think a bit more before to type. Quite useless to say that I can’t write manually any longer because it’s like an unbearable slow motion. SO, my STRONG advice: learn to type and you’ll see it’s a life-changer. You can type so perfect that you don’t need to look at keyboard. You don’t even need to look at screen and look at the window instead.
@MM, I wish I could type in my sleep and still keep the conversation going and making sense!
@WE But I still need to be near the keyboard🤣
@MM you can still join us from a future time since we read comments even days later!! Better than telepathy!
@GB WE
What interesting
Conversations, we would have if we were typing straight from our thoughts.Or dreams🤣
@SD, take your time and finish watching. We’ll read your comments later too!
I’m off now. Got to sleep horizontally and not while slouching in the chair!
@MM, if straight from our thoughts, we’d have to keep censoring ourselves!!! Like HS does because SH can read her mind.
@MM, I read your comments soon, when you are not away from keyboard. 😉
I’ve to go now. Will come back during this week. Have a good week everybody!
Bye @WE @SD and @MM! See you next week!
@MM, typing straight from our thoughts or dreams would not be pretty. Wim Wender has a great film regarding this (Until the End of the World). Everyone who does that gets trapped by their own desire to see those you are now dead, or to see times past. The grief stricken get pulled into their grief.
What a great heroine SH’s, mother is. Articulating her life’s philosophy forcefully to her daughter without distressing her, and at the same time it is a clear message to the killer that he will not win. A brave stance.
And the phone call ending. We know who is on the end of the phone line and the grief that it will cause, but we are still left hanging because, did SH’s mother die, was she just injured, what exactly happened? And right after, they confirmed that JK was at the intersection wher SH’s mother’s store is.
So good.
So bye for now, @WE, @GB, @MM. Until next week!
Not quite done. I decided to paste a poem I wrote up a few weeks ago. Sorry, it is a bit long. I was asked to come up with a poem for the phrase ‘green fruit’ for a wine tasting and poetry reading. The poem is a bit about grief (and uses the idea that we cannot relive our past), but I also used the idea of kairos, the perfect time, which is why I am posting it here. I actually wrote two poems for the same phrase both referencing kairos, but the other I am still working on (not that this doesn’t need work, it is just in the current draft state and not changing for now, lol). Juneberries are small fruit which looks like blueberries but are slightly more tart. They grow in the mountains in northern Montana.
We cannot come again
The lower bushes are barely leafed,
the trees are bare budded, tips too high to see.
The grass has browned to dun and sand.
The bits of new grass seem but a mirage
to disappear as we look to the distance in a dry spring.
We look for juneberries hanging low above the creek
as full as it can be in the flush of what is left
of a May snow, waters that run over the rock dams
each summer’s children make.
The cottonwoods have not yet blanketed
the ground with blousy tissues of soft tufts.
We look for bright plum-blue ripeness
but we are early and we cannot come again.
Last summer we filled our plastic ice cream buckets full
but this year the leaves were slow to unfurl
and the shadows are longer than before.
The juneberries hang low, yet unripe:
bitter, small, shriveled.
We focus on the far horizon and overlook
the stems of virgin grass and the small leaves.
We are early. We cannot come again.
Also, I used the idea of twisting the dams made each summer to be the summer’s children, similar to this poem by Issa.

@SD I enjoyed your poem. It brought to mind thoughts I have been having about my garden, now That spring is here. Also thoughts about canoe tripping and camping in the summer.
The particular example on my mind today is how if I do not fertilize my Ornamental cherry tree at just the right time, The tree does not blossom and there is no going back. Have to
Wait and try again next year- 365 days later.
I feel very sad when a plant I am nurturing dies which is often because I have missed a particular window of care. And your poem speaks to that feeling.
About typing by telepathy or In our sleep- Free association on the internet would not be a good idea!
Thank you for the poem @SD. It touched me. I felt a wave of regret that it was not the right time, that the opportunity would be missed, and we knew it. A facet of grief even in our daily living. 👍
