Enjoy the rewatch!
I am going to have to miss this episode as well. I have plans that are now several hours earlier than previously. I thought I could squeeze the rewatch in, but no such luck. See you next week!
See you @SD. I going to be exhausted today so if I don’t pop in on time it’s because I’ll be sleeping hehe!
I am getting started a little bit ahead of time.
Hi @MM! That’s great. I’ll be back in a bit.
I hope you aren’t too tired?
I am watching last week’s episode at 2x speed.
@MM, thanks for asking … I feel pretty fine, actually. I’m surprised as it’s been a long 3 days with children at a retreat. I hope to stay awake!!!!
Hi @FF! So you’re going to catch up and continue today with Ep 14? That will be great!
Yes, I am catching up. It is good to hear that you are feeling fine even after havingsome hectic days.
@FF, They were good hectic days. I slept like a log from 8pm last night until 2am and then went back to sleep again until this morning. Hope I can last for the next 2 hours!
OK folks, we can start NOW!
I like this episode…. revelations, revelations…
Let’s go!
First there are lies from SH, but then all the truth comes out. Poor SH feels so rejected just because he has a mind-reading ability.
Hi GB, FF, MM.
Hi @WE, I’m 4 minutes into the episode after the quick recap in the beginning.
Another example of two scenes with the same theme being juxtaposed- His own call andHS Reacting To his mind reading ability.
SH’s mind reading ability has always cause him pain, his uncle thought that he is a monster. He has to pretend that he can’t read people’s mind except to HS.
I am ten minutes in. I am trying To reserve my comments until when I think others will have watched.
Such a drama because he reveals he’s get his memory back. Because she’s like “oh! he discovered my feeling” and goes away.
I wonder if it was better to just lie about the moment he got his memory back. But in a way, it’s maybe better to be honest, risking the drama, because at least the truth about her feeling is on the table.
Hi @WE, @MM.
Min Jung Kook likes KW, always go to him for trial, for confession.
13 minutes The best revelation so far.
IReally like her pink belted dress. I think she is tall for a korean actress?
I’m at 8:30
But before that walk from the bus, what a cute interjection of a funny scene on the bus ride to break the tension.
I like that dress too. Have to see LBY next to other actresses to know if she’s taller.
She told him to be natural in their relationship and we all see what happens! He is So adorable in his gratitude and his Excitement.
She goes out but we don’t see if she had eat the food he prepared for her.
Being in love is so hard, one tries to suppress her feelings, the other is holding back so as not to irritate yet he wants to be her bodyguard.
Oooooooh HS finally confesses to SH, she accepts and faces the fact that she likes him. Her heart and feelings won!
@GB That is such a funny scene that breaks the ice. Did a similar scene happen earlier only somewhat in reverse?
Ahaha!! He falls on her knees!
Reverse romantic scene.
I thought the music was so appropriate to his excitement.
Lee Bo Young is 1.68m tall.
@FF so funny that she goes with her heart first and then her head catches up and she gets worried about confessing her love for SH. Too late!!! LOL.
13:00. WOO !!! Confession scene.
But she choose to says it loud, instead doing it by thoughts.
@WE, I love that scene where he becomes an awkward boy, falling on the girl and hitting his head. Bus passengers had a hard time supressing their laughther.
Notice the instant of suspens, because she start to say she like him like a friend first. Ahah! Friendzoned ? No, also like a man. Phewwww.
Lee Da Hee is 1.76m tall.
@MM, well there was the other funny scene of HS jumping on SH’s back to avoid cockroaches… only to find out that they were just seeds. She’s humiliated herself a few times in front of him I think!
@WE, amazing that she can separate out liking him like a younger brother, friend and then man.
HS is taunting the Judge again.
@FF, thanks for the height info. So she’s average height and not exactly short.
@FF I will need to convert that to feet in inches. 5 ‘6″ Call for a korean woman.
@MM I liked the music for both the time when he felt rejected and the theme of the show for when he accepted her confession.
KW is always happy to see HS.
LDH Is tall. I can see that when she stands beside male actors.
@FF But she is getting info that bad ex-judge Seo will never be punished for ruining Hwang’s life.
So now he treats her like his girlfriend but she does not want others to know.
I think there is a scene in one of the first episodes where she falls and he catches her.
That smirk on ex judge Seo when he heard that Hwang’s “late” wife may not pull through. So he can cover up his tracks for not handling Hwang’s case properly and taking in his daughter despite knowing that the wife did not die.
@MM, yes, Ep2, even it’s first time he finds her. AND, the scene also happens in a bus. See the correlations. AHAH!
@FF, I can’t stand that ex-judge. He does not even treat his ‘adopted’ daughter all that well. IE he is not warm towards her.
She seems closer to her mother. I wonder if it was more for his wife’s sake.Or because she wanted a child that he adopted.
@GB, the actor is naturally visqueous. 🙂
@GB, yeah I also think he is not warm to her. Maybe he adopted her just to make sure that the mum keeps mum about the case.
@MM, I had the same thought about how come DY’s father is so distant towards her.
At this point, Soo-Ha is really annoyed that Cha continues to play the “adult” with him. 😀
@FF you mean keeping that Seo was keeping Do Yeon’s real mum quiet… that is part of it I’m sure, also his wife probably wanted a child.
@WE Yes the confession was done in a very suspensful way. Even though I have watched before I was disappointed initially but then when she hesitated I realized what she was going to say- That she likes Him as a man too.
@GB, yes killing two birds with one stone.
Trial simulation. Excellent scene idea !
@WE, Cha is so good to SH, so all the more SH hates it, and dislikes Cha, who is his rival for HS.
@WE. Lawyer Om Gi Jun is the bad guy in Penthouse!
@WE that simulated trial was cute… it showed that the Prosecution would win and Shin was funny in that he was happy to beat HS when it meant that he would lose as the attorney!
@FF I think the lawyer Om is from another show (A Gentleman’s Dignity) where he gets a girlfriend who is much younger than him. He appears as the same character here and his wife is mentioned in passing. An inside joke.
It’s interesting, HS says to Soo-Ha that reveals the truth is always better (and it’s what he did at start of the episode, and the result was good in the end). However, now he doesn’t want to say the truth about his father.
@GB, Um Gi Jun is not in A Gentleman’s Dignity. He is in Penthouse and Escape of Seven
Ah! Guest star, an actor I like a lot. Watched tons of his dramas, and of course the famous “Pentouse” where he’s the infamous “Joe Dante”.
@FF, yes I just realised that I was referring to the other lawyer,… the one who was head hunting Cha at the restaurant.
It seems to me that telling the truth is somewhat conditional, In the instances in this drama. It is easier to say tell the truth when it has to do with someone else, Of course.
Yes the point is being made that telling the truth is somewhat conditional depending on the circumstances and the person it impacts.
Many confort scenes. now Chung-Gi with the girl he loves, Sung bin. Now, she seems in a couple with Chung-Gi ? Not 100% because she seems a bit clingy with Soo-Ha.
@MM, people do that all the time. Telling the truth depending on the circumstances.
@WE, SungBin is not completely over SH. She still hopes that she has a chance with him.
Now I am at the scene in his apartment where they are discussing the value or not of telling the truth.
@MM for HS telling the truth results in her being physically attacked!
How is HS going to tell DY that she is not the ex-judge Seo’s daughter? Such a difficult task.
SY Comments on HS Not being for the truth As he would usually be.
They are taking hands like lovers, while the cops watch them, and they just believe they are “young dude and Noona”. 🙂
I am thinking how the idea of truth telling
Relates to SH’s Mind reading ability. He can usually access the truth and that has been painful for him.
The episode ends with DY going “what”, disbelieve that she is Hwang’s daughter/
HS has “rancune” (I don’t know the english word). Just she puts back in his troath all the words he said in the past! KNOC-OUT !
Oh Shit… I realize, if I was writing this drama, it would be crazy hot in a flash… The female lead thinking about all her sexual desires while ML reads what she thinks. LOL! 😀
What I was noting is how confident The various characters seem about telling the truth Being the right thing, Without considering
The impact on another person. Particularly telling DY about her fathers. I am not at that scene yet but I don’t remember her doing it in a very thoughtful way. But then is that even possible?
@MM yes, telling the truth is the theme of this show. Hearing the unwanted truth. It’s very noisy for SH, but he really gets more when he looks into a person’s eyes.
It’s interesting about thruth or lies. I often prefer truth (except for daily small lies). Then, I often see surprised expressions of people around me when I say a thruth (even when I don’t really think about it, just it’s natural).
@MM, I think HS delivered the message linking it to Hwang’s case. Not sure if that is thoughtful but I thought it is quite a neutral delivery.
The actor who plays the new public attorney.I think played the Doctor.
In scent of a woman. I will need to check. I guess he is a familiar character actor to us.
Again I am behind at thirty five minutes. I need
@Salteddust here to keep me company in my slow pace!
@FF, oh yes, the other lawyer from A Gentleman’s Dignity was Choi with his wife Meahri from that other show.
Truth hurts and is hard to accept. People avoid pain and so prefer lies.
Long before I was realizing it, great writer Park Hye Ryun was already constructing a thematic per episode (not sure if it’s all of them in this drama). But really, it’s oustanding quality. I love so much this writer. She’s so inspiring.
@MM, the actor is Scent of a Women is the one in A Gentkeman’s Dignity and is the lawyer who tries to headhunt KW to his firm. The new public defender is the lead actor in Penthouse and Escape of Seven. We have 2 cameos in this episode.
A small Is light hearted exchange between the female lead and lawyer cha About his results being true or not. When he
Returns to the office.
@WE, I started rewatching While You Were Sleeping and it’s also good by this same writer. Serious scenes and then she injects humour to lighten the mood.
I am totally confused now about these two cameos. Not that it’s that important to have it straight.
MDL Tells me that the same actor who was in escape of the 7 and sent of a woman is the one in.I hear your voice.
I have not seen gentlemen’s dignity or the other Drama’s mentioned above so I do not have that perspective.
But the two lawyers were two different actors!
I Liked the Doctor character in scent of a woman.
The conversation with Cha at the restaurant gave her the 1% in the right direction clue to help her know what to do. Then from that time onwards, she decided to be honest in public about SH and to accost Seo.
I like how the scenes of young and current HS with Seo are juxtaposed. She uses his words to her when she was young against him now. The difference is that she was innocent when he tried to get her to admit to a wrong she did not do, while she’s trying it out on him who is guilty.
Yes @MM, they are 2 different actors.
We get a nice commentary on how lies keep the peace while truth hurts through SH’s experience hearing the truth behind the outward show. SH admits to avoiding the truth that is unpleasant, but here we have HS going headlong into meeting Seo and Do Yeon with the truth.
A nice bit of irony that Writer Park points out as well.
@WE, the English word for ‘rancune’ might be ‘grudge’. She does have a big grudge against Seo for how he refused to pursue the truth and how she and her mum ended up losing the school and job respectively, all because of a lie that Do Yeon told.
I like that she uses his own words against him, but he might not even remember that he had said them to her!
@GB WE
There is also the english word rancour which has a fairly similar meaning.
kim min jung Is the actor playing the recruiting lawyer. I am Totally unfamiliar with him.
The actor who plays the New public defender is Uhm ki joong And the character has the same name.
So there was meta going on with both these cameos.
I think I
Have this straight.
I was wondering why there was an emphasis on the one lawyer’s wife’s name.
@MM, the emphasis on the lawyer’s wife, Meahri, is because in A Gentleman’s Dignity, she was the much younger sister of his friend and him dating her was a no-no to the friend. It was Meahri who pursued the lawyer however and her brother finally gave in and supported their marriage.
@GB I recall, on first watch, thinking that Meahri must be an old flame of KW and was very puzzled. Now I get it!
I did not get very far in A gentleman’s dignity when I tried it a few years ago.

Hi @packmule3! I hope you get to see this… a gentle reminder to please open up the next 2 (or the last 4) threads of this show. Thanks very much!

Just got home, @GB.
Let me finish my three scoops of Ben & Jerry’s New York super fudge ice cream, then I’ll search for my laptop in my office. My home office, that is. 🙂 I forgot my password. 😂😂
