Thank you for the early thread @pkml3. I take it that you’ll be busy or away again for the next 2 weeks. God bless and take care of you!
You’re welcome, @GB. I’ll begin traveling tomorrow and I don’t want to leave you and the Saturday Rewatch Team hanging. 🙂
It’s an especially busy weekend for me these 3-4 days as I’m part of the committee organising a big celebration for an anniversary. Still I look forward to being able to relax with all here for our rewatch party.
I recall that when I first watched Ep 3’s cliffhanger, I could not resist jumping into Ep 4 to see what panned out. I recall feeling highly satisfied at how tragedy was averted, how the logic worked, but especially how the characters came together (reluctantly?) as a team.
I will not be able to be there tomorrow morning since I am away.
Have a good time and I will see you next week.
Hi all. I am here, altho I got sidetracked by that ‘how to produce post of pc3, and am rushing thru watch number two as we speak. One thing already on my mind. So HJ tries to change reality twice, producing a new reality in which the mom and daughter end up in HJ’s mom’s cafe. The Woo Tak dreams about this new reality in which another horrible event will occur (since everything stays the same but just works itself out in a different way, there will be a tragedy in that familY?). Now Woo Tak gets in on changing the new reality.
typical scifi warning about the results of interference. Lucky they dont talk about string theory.
See you next week @MM!
Hi @IB, yup, we get to see what Woo Tak manages to do about his dream by making a single change in the players of the ‘tragic’ scene.
Hi here.
Hi @WE!, I’ve just started the rewatch to recall stuff since I was too busy this week to do an initial rewatch.
Hi GB.
I did rewatch until episode 8, few weeks ago.
Hi @WE, @GB, @Ib.
Hi SD and IF.
Hi @SD!!
Okay everyone, we start NOW!!!
The COP got the bad dream this time.
Today’s episode is “A Few Good Men” so the taking of movie titles for each episode continues. I did not watch many movies hence I won’t know the significance of some of these titles. Will knowing the movie help in interpreting the episode more?
@WE, the cop, WT starts dreaming more about JC than about Hong Joo, I think. There is significance here.
Hello @WE, @GB, @SD, @IF. Have greeted everyone?
Hi @FF. Glad you can make it tonight!
@GB, I can’t say, I didn’t watch this movie or did but don’t remember.
But the western last time I did.
I bet more on a play of words than a meaning, because certainly most of korean audience didn’t watch the movies (althought they are classics).
Hi FF.
So I give again the same comment as last time, the cop plays really risky, she was at one split second to kill her hand.
@WE, here’s the fun part at timestamp 12:30 as they try to figure out what makes them dream about the future. All the odd guesses just like what we do over mysteries unfolding in episodes!!
@GB, happy that you can make it too, read that you are very busy these 3-4 days.
WT making a small change to test if that will modify the outcome as compared to his dream.
Lee “leave this table, I’m here to give them advice”.
AND SO ? JC can’t give advices too!!
Lee has such a bad faith.
@WE, yes, I was thinking about that… what if JC had not slammed his hand on the table and made So Yun pause before stabbing her hand or HJ’s hand. He sat too far away to have intercepted.
Lee Jong Suk and Kim So Hyun, again in a same drama, just here they can finally meet. Even touch hands. 😉
I fell asleep in the cinema watching “A Few Good Men”.
Hi @FF.
I got started (early I thought); completely sucked into that first scene. Even on a rewatch and without the standard Western-movie car chases or ‘bad’ guys this scene is riveting.
Writer Park gives us a key line:
“I can live without piano, I can’t live without mother”.
@FF, in WT’s dream he must have heard JC’s name and that’s why he went to ‘accidentally’ meet him and invite him to dinner at that restaurant. But this part was not made clear in the dream, was it?
@WE, so they actually do get to touch hands in a show. Did they ever work together elsewhere?
LOL the part HJ tries to make anything JC does to be all about her.
The trio trying to understand the mystery.
There are some comedy phases in this scene.
I like how JC’s brother Seung Won is proud of his brother now.
@GB, did WT hear JC’s name in his dream? I didn’t catch that, the dream is fuzzy.
LOL Hyang Mi started out wanting to fangirl over the handsome JC but now is nothing but full of sarcasm. She’s a really rude staff member and should be told off. (But I like the actress who can sing very well too!)
@FF, yes I didn’t catch the name too.
Now we see Mr Choi having to go out reluctantly with JC for investigation. LOL but he’s actually very helpful.
@WE, I like the line, “Everybody but the 1% licks the lid”, I also liked the earlier scene between JC and his brother about what it means to be friendly with your neighbor; the back and forth between brothers there was nice. Ditto the scene where HJ and SH are washing the grills-very nice back and forth, like sisters.
@GB, you tell about the girl in JC office? I remember to see her as support role in lot of drama. She has a distinctive funny face we don’t forget easely.
@WE, the other funny moment… JC does not see the results of the lucky draw (Lotto?) if he’d turn around he’d be sooooo angry!!! He could have won loads of money instead of dealing with the Park Junmo case.
17:30 : loto numbers that no one notice. I didn’t check if there are the ones predicted by HS, but I bet they are.
@SD, yes I like those scenes too. We see how they build rapport and trust and grow into camaraderie bit by bit.
Too bad that Kim So-Hyun will almost disappear from the drama after her arc is ended. I remember we see her a bit later, because there is still a secondary romance of her with the brother.
@GB, hey, we got ant antennas about loto. 😉
I am reminded of Mr. Choe the investigator who also dreams of JC, this is revealed towards the end of the drama.
Hyang Mi is so cute even when she is sarcastic.
@WE same here. I bet those Lotto numbers were exactly what HJ predicted but the question is… did she really not dream them or did but lied to him that they were not true or really told the truth. In which case, the numbers were randomly correct!!!
@WE, now we see HJ’s mum putting down the good points about guys for HJ. Counting points for or against JC.
Maybe he had a dream in the bus?
Something like “a kiss with her” ?
She’s shameless, saying he should continue his “procedure to try to seduce her” and is ok with that, just want to participate more. 😀 😀
@FF yes Mr Choi was the hidden dreamer.
@GB, It is that she lied to him that they were not true. Randomly correct would be impossible (well the probability would be so low as to be impossible).
Does HJ dream of JC every day? She follows him to work so often.
About the bad father: I took pictures from another drama with him (a doctor) and in W2, he’s a good guy. 😉
This actor can play anything, good or bad.
@WE LOL he gets annoyed with HJ.
She came to help him out. She had a dream but she’s not saying.
@SD, I tend to think that HJ dreamt about the lotto numbers too,
my favorite scene, comeuppance is always good. Did Mr Choi (boiled anchovy!) know what would happen?
@SD, I’d like to think… HJ lied to begin with about the numbers, and told the truth that she had lied. But then we get the 1 in a million chance that the numbers were drawn exactly as she’d lied.
Again with the humorous scenes. JC has the option of microwaved rice with egg (which at least his brother can cook), WT thinks the dog’s food is almost as good as his own (he is eating out of a can), meanwhile at at HJ’s house they eat a multi-course meal!
These little interludes of humor really make the heavier aspects of the drama bearable.
@GB, I know, the dream just says he fails, and she just say him “fighting!”… well, a character decision.
Next, comedy. In legal dramas (and japanese anim even more), lawyers have amazing attitudes, finger pointed, etc. And this silly JC tries to find the good attitude…
… observed by the full gossip team. 🙂
@SD, this drama is a monument of good feeling. 😉
@FF HJ seems to dream about JC quite often but not everyday I think.
LOL her mum is pitting JC against WT in her notebook of points earned by the 2 guys.
Hyang Mi in yellow. She loves the comment but sides with Mr.Choi and JC when they are in the ascendant
@IB we do not know at this stage what dreams Mr Choi ever had.
JC rehearsing how to interview Park Jun Mo with his colleagues watching his rehearsal?
HJ and WT had similar dream with different characters and outcome.
@SD, more comedy as JC looks awesome during a test interrogation/investigation but he’s only practising and making a fool of himself!
Aish, I missed the two points in the diary.
Yet it’s 3 times I watch that!!
Now, we are in a suspensfull situation with the most improbable guy will win the case, assistant CHOI, really not the guy we suppose to win over the evil father and bad smart Lee.
In fact, Choi is this kind of annoying and administrative guy, ending to nitpick at details. lol!!
@WE, now the exciting new thing about the dreams… 2 people can have them but they can have different versions of the same scene/dream!!!
HJ and WT compare their dreams and tell JC what to do.
@GB, there is a good dream and a bad dream. Well, even if the good dream seems impossible, just choose this one!
the lie about the wife presented as if it were a memory in live action.
Like it when the spectator’s (me and/or the charactors) reality is questioned.
LOL JC is pressing too much weight on the phone that belongs to the policeman. He decides to follow WT’s advice.
@WE, but we know that assistant Choi will do well. Actor Kim Won Hae puts on his investigator demeanor (ala Signal and I think, many others–though he can be hilarious as in Strong Woman Do Bong Soon where he plays both the very gay game designer and the toothless gang member with multiple physical problems).
@FF, that’s the second exciting part of this episode.
We see how evil Yoo Bum has twisted the recording in the restaurant.
Choi follow lawyer Lee all the way, except at the end… AND, this damn CHOI is a kind of detective Columbo, pissing-off the vilain !! 😀
@IB we get to hear the gaslighting (fake) story from the evil YB.
Success, ACHIEVEMENT MUSIC.
ahah, Really a Park Hye Ryun drama. 🙂
Park Jun Mo trying to shift the blame to YB, blaming him for fabricating false evidence.
@SD, yes… Kim Won Hae is a joy to watch even when he’s being ridiculous. I like him most in this drama, I think.
ooh windows. thru a glass darkly. who is on the other side peering in
@FF, yeah, beautifully ugly. 😉
@WE, yes such a good ending to the unlikely case that Choi would go against his good friend, Yoo Bum. That music!!!
The earlier piece of music on the bus was I think Suzy singing.
@SD, I saw countless time CHOI actor as support role, I can’t even see the dramas.. Support actors are great in kdramas.
just when we thought the poop jokes were done. a wrapup?
Not “even see” but “even remember”. I typed too fast.
HJ’s mum counting points again.
@FF yes exactly… the cowardly evil husband folds in the face of advice. YB only threatened.
Such a good feeling when everyone rejoices over the ending of the investigation.
@GB, well Suzy knows how to sing, it was a first job. Lee Jong Suk is only actor, he did tries about singing and it was a disaster. YET, he sings the best song of the drama, and a really complicated one to sing. He’s unable to do it and I’m 99% sure he got a voice-pitcher soft to do that. No matters, anyway the song is awesome.
she got ahead of herself? dream-not dream.
More funny scenes which concern being overheard by the bosses. The apology that went haywire LOL.
Flower petals like snowflakes again.
Kiss failure, and not the last one. 🙂
INSANE REVEAL: the mother dropped the BIG shit in the toilets. LOL !!
Kiss failure is funny, she tip toe and he tip toe even more.
Christian Bldg? SBC? help!
LOL good parallel HJ now does the same rehearsal thing but in public in front of a reflecting pole next to a bus stop. She entertains the waiting would-be ‘passengers’. JC did it unknowingly in the interrogation room in his office.
Poop talk at breakfast.
competing dreams. In hers she doesnt get a kiss, in his he gives it.
First the build-up to the not kiss… they keep missing each other.
She’s searching for him so he ends up ‘stalking’ her instead of the other way around.
Ah shit, so awesome, now we get the reason of the “fighting” line. The dream was effectively the kiss in the flower snow. But what important is what she said: anything you do, success or failure, I’m here for you. Then it explains why she could just say “fighting” when she knows he will fail. END on a flashback of bus scene.
He dreamt of the kiss on the bus! Now the drama tells us about the dream, no wonder JC woke up in shock on the bus.
Today’s episode ended with no cliffhanger but sweet feelings.
Hey, It’s time I go, so I wish you all a good week. See you soon.
@WE, yes, a great ending!! No need cliffhanger this time!!!
Bye @WE.
Not certain of the sequence of the running away desire of JC.
In the columbarium after the case triumph he tells his dad that he (now) has (really) become the prosecutor his dad wants him to be.
We are thinking at that point how she made that happen.
Then (?next? before?) he wakes from the dream of a kiss on the bus and thinks to himself how afraid he is of her feelings and how much he wants to run away.
Bye @WE
I think JC has decided not to run away by adding HJ’s phone number to his phone contacts.
@IB, we see that same kiss dream from different angles. First last episode, Ep 3, HJ dreamed that she kissed him first and was disgusted with herself.
Then we see in reality that she tried to kiss him but he avoided it by going on tip toe so that she could not reach his lips.
Finally we see that the reason he did this was because he too had the same dream but in that dream he kissed her and not the other way around.
Is it clear to us why he is afraid to have deeper feelings for her and why he decides to avoid the kiss? I don’t think show makes that clear now or even later.
Bye all, see you next week.
@FF, that’s true! In his just waking up he decides to run but after avoiding the kiss, he ‘speaks’ to his father at the columbarium and decides not to run away after all, because HJ sort of replaced his father in being another person who would stand by him regardless of his success or failure.
Bye @FF!
That line about how JC’s father will ‘die happy if he becomes a prosecutor’ just before he actually dies, which we see in a flashback here, is so poignant. It makes me wonder how JC became a prosecutor. To fulfill his promise to his father, yes, but he must be so conflicted. The promise is seconds away from his father’s death and so must always be connected with those memories.
Thank you @GB for the clarification on real, not real kisses/not kiss.
Will I find out where she works next time? is it meant to be at a tv station?
Bye @FF, see all of you next week.
@IB, I think she’s supposed to be a reporter for SBC which is indeed a TV station.
Bye @SD!
