  1. Hello @GB

What I have learned from our rewatches is really helping me enjoy Bon Appetit Your Majesty. My thoughts about the time travel are more organized, having discussed time travel dramas with this group.

    See you tomorrow.

  2. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

    Thanks @pkml3!

Hi @MM, I’m glad that our discussions on time travel have contributed to your viewing pleasure of other time-travel shows.

I’m also going back in time to Episode 6 here… because as we start Episode 7, we find that we are only just ending the theme of last week’s episode ie “City of the Blind(s)”.

I was thinking about how the prosecution team had become ‘blind’ over the Killer Kang case. Also the concept of another way to interpret the overall title ‘While You Were Sleeping’ of how although the prosecutors were physically awake, they were professionally asleep and let Lee Yu Beom trample on their ‘sure-win’ prosecution.

I felt that the title: “City of the Blind(s)” is a play on the HG Wells short story ‘The Country of the Blind.” From ChatGPT… “ The saying “In the country of the blind, the one-eyed man is king” gets challenged in the story because the sighted man is not treated as superior. He thought in his arrogance that he’d have the upper hand but found to his chagrin that the opposite was true. This was the case for the Prosection Team (sans JC).

ChatGPT again: “It’s a reflection on perception, normality, and human pride.” I felt that all this came up in Episodes 5-7.

The Pros Team had been blinded by their complacency and perception that the case was obvious and normal. In the normal way, with the confession by Kang and the obvious accident it was supposed to be 99% a sure-win for them. The pride/arrogance part was mostly Pros Shin being unhappy that as the sunbae she had to listen to hoobae JC. She was also too proud to admit that she was in the wrong as well for taking more care in the investigation, to go beyond what Pros Lee had reported.

Anyway, they had been blinded to the facts that pointed to the case not being normal after all. There had been abnormality in the lack of profuse bleeding if the victim had died in the accident, and the colour of blood had been wrong.

So we enter Ep 7 which is called “A Secret That Cannot Be Told”, however I call it the ‘Blame Game’ episode. Either the characters blame themselves or they blame others for the mistakes made since Episodes 5 and 6. LOL

  3. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

I was amused by how Pros Chief has taken the fault-finding from the team’s lunchtime’s prayer before meals to the office.

Hanging up the ‘art’ on the wall which said: “All thanks to you, everything is my fault” was overtly a blame-taking session by Chief but underhandedly it was a blame-throwing session.

Chief hypocritically admits that it was his fault Kang was found innocent and released, but then he blames Lee for being careless and Shin for being arrogant. Son wants to take the blame too and Lee generously admits that he’s at fault for not checking on Shin but Shin refuses to admit responsibility. LOL and so the buck stopped!

At least all of them felt bad that Woo Tak had been stabbed because they’d failed to keep Kang in prison. I like that they are a bunch of relatable characters with flaws and who do learn and develop.

  4. Looking forward to tomorrow’s episode with you all!

  5. This is such a rich episode. Sadness mixes with really great comic bits. I cant make up my mind between the seatbelt lock or robin pooping in the kitchen for number one on a longlist of funny moments which leaven the pitiability of Dae Hee’s jailhouse crazy and the story of young officer Choi, emerging again (is that right? the drowning scene was several episodes ago?). A lot of guilt gets worked through, and I will always treasure that lovely long shot in the park with the ballad, the two of them standing still on either side of the screen and the large rather creased box of tissues.

  6. I rewatched last night although I was dozing in parts.

I’ve lost track. Is it nine a m or ten a m on the east coast?

  7. Congratulations to @WE!!!!!!! Respect.

  8. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

Hi All! I’m around but I have some ‘work’ of sorts to look through. I’ll be back soon!

@WE Congratulations on completing “W Four Worlds”!!! What a wonderful accomplishment! Your dedication and persistence are inspiring! Let us read it soon!

  9. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

    Hi Everyone, we start NOW!!!

  10. Hi here.

  11. Hi everyone, I am here.

  12. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

Hi @WE! A very stressful beginning of episode!!!

The run against time to save HJ and the cafe girl.

  13. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

    Hi @FF!

  14. I am here

  15. @GB, I’m not in the right position to say it, because I’m not audience. But I’m still first audience: I’ve the feeling it’s the best drama ever made. My goal was to hit hard than W, the best drama ever made. An impossible challenge. But during the 12 last episodes, I had the feeling it was the season 2 able to smash even more the audience than season 1, at every level; twists, emotions, action, crazyness.

  16. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

Hi @MM! I started 2 minutes earlier and am at the hospital with Woo Tak.

  17. Such a suspenseful scene but they add the humor about his long legs.

  18. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

@WE, you’re getting me excited to read your work. Tidy it up and let us have it!!

  19. Here we get the previous cliffhanger scene.
And it turns into an handfight and girl trowing shoes, lol.
Until the aaaaamazing mister (I don’t remember) give a kick. The guy even good at kicking.
Will follow a comedy scene explaining that.

  20. Hi IF, MM, FF.

  21. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

@MM, yes that’s what I like about this show. The humour comes in to allay the suspense. And it can be very funny!!

  22. Ostrich legs are a good description😄

  23. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

LOL Poor Mr Choi is compared against the hard as rock muscles of JC. He was a life saver actually.

  24. I like the little theme about heroism. Who’s the hero. It isnt such a big deal, between friends…

  25. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

Lee YB abandons Killer Kang. Another shouting scene by the irate Kang.

  26. @GB. Yeah! I have 3 faithfull readers, a bit frustrated because it took long to end. I thank them because their support helped me to keep motivation, even if the core motivation just come from a story wanting to be told (and more precisely, brandishing a gun on my head “write me or…”.

So, now I prefer to say: “wait a bit: I’ll fix also early stuff, and add images to episodes missing it”. I’ll just doing the perfect stuff before, to make what was always my goal: make the reading as enjoyable as possible, with the feeling to watch it on TV. More easy to read than any screenplay or novel. I think kdrama audience want to watch a drama, not bother at reading fanfic stuff.

  27. Was it this drama or another one I was watching where we were talking about.
Characters being able to continue fighting despite being so wounded? ? I think that might have been a chinese drama.

WT says how all those movies are lies

  28. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

    Hi @IB!

We come to the scene where JC is on the couch waiting to see the news with HJ reporting and about the Killer Kang case… but instead of being similar to his dream, it’s different. The person beside him is not Hong Joo but his brother.

A hark back to the scene last ep where he was hugging his brother, dreaming that he was having his head on HJ’s shoulder.

  29. Hi @WE, @GB, @MM. I find myself having difficulty making comments for this drama. The drama does not appear like a fast-paced drama, yet the plot moves very fast. I need to pause the drama if I were to make comments, else I will miss important details, but everything seems to be important detail in this drama.

  30. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

@WE, that’s true. I’d rather ‘watch’ than read.

  31. I practised Karate, and I can say you that: when Choi performs the kick in the hall, it’s perfect movement!

  32. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

@MM, I was amused by WT’s comment on feeling all weak when stabbed. It’s a meta on dramas with violence in it.

  33. Who was it who subdued the criminal?🙂

  34. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

@FF, Yes, I do pause the drama too from time to time.

That’s why I started a couple of minutes earlier.

  35. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

@WE, that’s nice to know. It was really Choi himself… and not a body double who did that kick?

  36. The actor playing joy is perfect for making this even funnier, About how he can only do two steps when the hero can do four.

  37. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

@MM finally it was Mr Choi who kicked Killer Kang off from almost hitting JC again, and he knelt on him to subdue him.

  38. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

Actor Kim Won Hae plays Choi. I like him most in this show. He’s been in so many shows playing the invaluable supporting roles.

  39. @FF, I don’t have the feeling it’s fast paced about plot-twists or things like that. It’s quite like “I hear your voice”. Just put scenes that hit on emotional level with great cohesion with the whole story. It’s clearly not “Death’s games”.

  40. Then, not “fast paced” but “every moment counts”, what is different from slow paced dramas with “fillers”, or feeling of fillers. I don’t say which ones, as it could create some useless arguments, but people who know me know. AHaHAHhaHAHhAHHA (diabolic laughing).

  41. There is a lot to be aware of in the dialogue. So it is difficult to just listen And not Be able to read the subtitles.

  42. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

We find that JC gives HJ advice about not crying over spilt milk and that advice came from the police ahjusshi who had worked with JC’s dad.

It’s such an irony that this ahjusshi who gave the good advice, did not really take it himself. IE, all his life he tried to make up for something that was not even his fault.

  43. @GB This may have been the first drama I watched Kim Won Hae And he instantly won me over.

  44. Pro Shin is such a thoroughly unpleasant character. She cries alone, has isolated herself and the the quote about how to make up for a mistake plays over her scene, being said to HJ by JC. Originating from Choi….

  45. Now I am at the scene where the two of them are in the elevator.

  46. @WE I find I Hear Your Voice easier. lol

  47. Flashback with “a” cop and JC.
Of course, it can’t be just “a” cop. 😉

  48. @WE, yes that’s the phrase that I am looking for EVERY MOMENT COUNTS!

  49. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

LOL HJ gets WT staying at her place but JC gets his dog!!! And the dog really makes a mess and even poops in the house.

  50. The battle is on for the girl. Pretty boy WT seems altruistic from afar (poem). But silly jealous JC. She has already made her choice.

  51. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

Now WT sends JC and HJ out to buy stuff for him… but it’s not really just a shopping trip.

  52. Ah. Now the girl could see SML almost naked. It continues to annoy JC with the maybe love triangle. But at this point, I don’t think we can trust a love triangle in this.

  53. That penguin is ubiquitous later. its just a cute touch?

  54. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

@WE, this is one rare show where the love triangle that should be is deflected by a corner of the triangle so that there isn’t a love triangle.

Ah now the almost kiss that wasn’t.

  55. Now I start laughing as soon as I see them in the car. So delicious.

  56. Is WT trying to match make JC and HJ? He seems to be interested in HJ too.

  57. @GB, even today, I don’t understand why some fools were going on a love triangle in start-up (same writer).

  58. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

@IB, the penguin and HJ really do look alike in some ways LOL. The penguin only turned up once later did not think it too ubiquitous.

Now the kiss that really was… and we have the guy standing there in silent shock instead of the girl. LOL

  59. @GB, ultimate drama about not just love triangle, but just love square: Fashion King. Oh, damn, this drama was so good. Last time I had a drama binge-watching, with a dozen dramas, this one was the best.

  60. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

@FF, I feel that WT knew from the start that he had no chance with HJ and so was the gentleman from the start in choosing not to pursue her. He’s of course sad to not get the girl, but he knows whom she really likes.

LOL JC’s reactions to the peck on the lips.

  61. Failed kiss attempt by JC, well HJ kissed him later at the door.

  62. The definition of “AWKWARD”. In the car.
He can’t kiss her. A serious weirdness here.

    BUT: soon after, she replicates.
With a surprise kiss before the door.
    Pfewwwwwwwww.

  63. triangles and secondRY couples…reflection of main couple and counterpoint is the usual effect, but this has an ambiguous feeling. An episode where what you think is misleading, it isnt so bad. not sure it works.
    Wt’s unspeakable secret.
    Whose friend is he?

  64. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

@WE, what made Fashion King such a good watch? Can’t have been the love square?

  65. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

@WE, JC’s reaction to the kiss was so cute!!!

  66. Ive never understood why he wont spend the compensation money from Choi.

  67. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

@IB, Woo Tak has a past that is a secret.

  68. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

@IB Perhaps he did not really hold the policeman responsible for his dad’s death and did not want the compensation.

Here’s another funny scene with HJ making a fool of herself and refusing to be embarrassed.

  69. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

Another awkward scene of JC and HJ. I’m glad he talks it through with her and they go back to being comfortable with each other. I like the scenery around the path they take to the bus stop.

  70. @GB, Fashion king is subtility about (mostly) the female lead, with two men. And the “impossible to read” Shin Se Kyung did it wonderfully. It mays seem slow sometimes, but every scene has an impact. I loved this drama.

    Back to our watching:
Hey, it’s the “a” cop. Was brother of the military killer. I can’t do anything about that. JC crying and arguing for nothing.
It’s the following of a flashback scene we got before, so we can say it’s “onion flashback” repercuted on more than one episode.

  71. Sorry I have been called away. I will catch up later

  72. I was wondering if the replated reclaimed river was relatively new in 2016

  73. reclaimed

  74. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

@FF another funny scene with the totally different tones of voice used by JC and HJ in response to WT leaving HJ’s home.

He lets them drive him home and help with the packing away of food. They see that Cho Hee has returned to work.

  75. @WE, you enjoyed Fashion King? Shin Se Kyung is so expressionless in the drama it irritates me no end.

  76. The drama (and writet) makes everything so we think the technician is a mad man, and he can’t stand anymore that he has to “put the garbage outside”, and looks like a guy coming back to fix things it shouldn’t. Like in the movie with Jim Carrey “cable guy”.

  77. Jung Hye In just has that goody two shoes face, doesn’t he? Yes, it is comforting to see Cho Hee returned to work.

  78. @FF, I loved it. She’s not expressionless, she does it in a subtle way. She’s so disturbing, she made me feel the situation, but keeping to be “unsure”, just what was needed. There is many scenes when we see she’s not agree, and everything grows up inside her until the end. So, the ending was surprising, but looking back, makes lot of sens. Amazing actress.

  79. SSK one of my favorites.

  80. @WE, maybe I am superficial. Can’t do any Shin Se Kyung drama.

  81. Someone is dreaming again, so its HJ dreaming of WT.

  82. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

@FF, I also don’t like to watch Shin Se Kyung. The sight of her rubs me the wrong way.

  83. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

OK bye folks, I’ve got to go through some stuff. Catch you next week!

  84. @FF, to be honest, she had bad luck sometimes, making crappy dramas like “blade man”, and even her acting into this wasn’t good. But as I watched more dramas with her, I like this actress. I know many people don’t like her, but I just compare her acting with the script, and she does it well.

Next, we get in the situation of the technician guy, “as if by chance” is a old friend of our SML cop guy. Then, I’ll need to rewatch what’s come next, because I ended my “rewatching before the rewatch” here.
There is a “secret” no idea what. But looks serious to be a cliffhanger with a mad makjang violin music. LOL.

  85. WT doesn’t not seem to believe his friend although he said that he believes that he is not the murderer. The friend too doesn’t not believe in WT; else he would not have threatened to divulge WT’s secret.

  86. @WE, the two men are roommate until a year ago.

    Bye @GB.

  87. I have to go now, it’s late.
Wish you all a good week!!

  88. Bye GB and WE.

  89. Bye everyone.
