  1. My daughter and my husband both have their birthdays to.Morrow so I might be busy in the morning. I will see how it goes.

I hope to be able to join you.

  2. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

Hi @MM, that’s nice to have birthdays on the same day. My birthday and my daughter’s are one day after the other. Celebrating once to cover 2 birthdays can be considered convenient but sometimes each person might want their own special celebration.

Will see you if you’re free! (In about 10 hours time!!!)

  3. We will do two special celebrations and one joint. We will celebrate my daughter’s birthday at tea time, Go out for dinner, And then celebrate my husband’s birthday after dinner.

We also need to time things so that we can have our son.Join us onlinefrom british columbia!

    A day of celebration!

More straightforward than having my daughter born in the middle of my husband’s fortieth birthday party, with his parents having travelled all the way from the other side of the world!

  4. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

@MM, so your daughter became the centre of attention during your husband’s fortieth birthday party!

So are you prepping for the tea celebration?

  5. Hi GB, Im here. Anybody else?

  6. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

Hi @IB! Usually people turn up on the dot or a bit later.

Three minutes to go by my clock!

  7. Hi MM, what a funny story! Have a nice day if we dont get in touch!

  8. and…..starting.

  9. Hello @IB and @GB. @MM hope you have a lovely day!

  10. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

@IB yes, we can start now!!!

Here’s Lee Yoo Beom up to no good again! False tears!!!

  11. Hi SD!

  12. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

Hello there @SD! Just on time.

  13. @GB yes, we immediately are reminded of what a con man YB is.

  14. yes GB crocodile is our image this time. Lying in wait to strike.

  15. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

I really like Seong Won. He’s such a good younger brother. More like a mum to his older brother.

And now we have HJ being all emotional and impulsive.

  16. Hi GB, IF, SD

  17. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

@IB, I still see SNAKE when I watch YB. He also has a habit of wagging his head at times that is tiresome.

  18. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

Hi @WE, thought you couldn’t make it. You’re never late!

  19. Hi @WE. And now a moment of comedic relief.

  20. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

@SD, yes this Show is great in terms of giving us comedic relief. Even at the height of panic, HJ is funny.

  21. There is a 4 minutes time gap between BOD time and my clock time. (well, not mine, but windows one)

  22. I still remember the shock on the faces of the waiters when I entered the restaurant very pregnant. They were right to be shocked.

We had Just opened the bottle of celebratory wine when I realized I really could not hold her off any longer! My poor husband. He was mortified that he smelled like alcohol in the delivery suite!

    Have a good watch everybody!

  23. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

@WE, that’s strange, your system time should be the same as worldwide hitting each hour at the same time.

  24. I have 08 vs 07, not bad gap. The internet has been weird lately.

The confession with Suzy’s voice and song layered on top. Delicious.

  25. @MM that’s a great story! I had pictured a party at home.

  26. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

@MM LOL what a great anecdote!

  27. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

@IB, the romantic songs are sweet. By contrast the music that goes with suspenseful scenes is too stressful!!

  28. Oh, 8:22, she does a serious love confession.
BUT, we get no answer for JC.
Maybe saved for a further flashback?

  29. Hello everyone, I dozed off while waiting to start.

  30. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

LOL the funny scenes again. 14:10 minutes with JC trying to sound suave but not able to even get over the fence!

Poor Pros Lee sacrifices himself but he ends up suffering more than expected. LOL

  31. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

Hi @FF! Glad you woke up in time for most of the show. Into 10 minutes or so.

  32. The show is compassionate about anger leading to bad decisions. I am not feeling like a good buddhist about it; putting on my hopeful hat, the idea that a group of friends can guide one away from the bad choice…the social evil highlighted well is isolation.

Pro Lee’s hand later drowning in a sea of rancor amongst the protesters — I do love the way events are echoed and turned over comically to be considered by the heart. The repetition is like a form of underlining.

  33. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

YB is the real ‘criminal’ since he provoked and incited the emotional reaction that would bring about violence from the public as well as from the father of the dead girl.

    Poor Pros Lee gets slapped.

  34. The hidden grip of Lee in the medias and behind the scene. With the stupid people (paid) or easely manipulated, in the streets.

  35. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

And so YB slides in snake-ily or sneakily again now to take Mr Choi away and to subtly find out more info from him.

  36. Hi FF.
Today I won’t comment a lot because I’m late about screentime + I didn’t rewatch before the rewatch. So I need to watch more than commenting.

  37. Every of JC’s colleague avoided lunching with him for fear of being attacked by the crowd. The Korean public is so distrusting of their legal system.

  38. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

@WE, Lee is clever in doing all the bad things and in excusing himself. When a person is guilty he makes him innocent for money, and when a person is innocent, he wants to make him guilty. He knows how to stir up an emotional storm to provoke public sentiment and opinion for his own advantage.

  39. After instigating public outrage over JC’s release of Do Hak Kyung, YB hatches another plan to spread rumor about JC and U-Tak’s friendship. He has so many plans.

  40. YB tests first HJ and then Choi — their hesitation shows their honesty in the face of difficult decisions, and makes their ultimate loyalty more satisfying. So YB serves a useful function…

  41. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

@FF The Korean public are made out to be emotion driven and easily manipulated. That may be true for lots of places.

  42. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

@FF that’s why he’s a SNAKE. He’s out to create the result he wants regardless of how many people get hurt in the process. The fallout for the ones who are involved can be very serious and last for a long time.

  43. rescued by dog poop!

    and a very clean owner.

  44. I like that JC says that he stands on the side of law not the victim or the suspect.

  45. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

@IB good point. YB is necessary for the conflict and the plot to work, but he’s so evil I dislike him so much here.

We finally get something good from the social media chats… the clue to the robot vacuum cleaner crops up.

  46. Hi @FF. I am glad you could make it. It is interesting how Writer Park plays out these scenes. The crowd scene could have been quite scary. Instead it is humorous. And even the scene with JB and Choi could have been a lot more ominous. In all the scenes with JB, in spite of his vile behavior you do not sense an evil man, but rather one who is making evil choices; a redeemable character as it were.

  47. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

Even Hyang Mi becomes helpful suddenly with the clue about checking for the robot vacuum cleaner outside the house.

  48. yes GB abt social media. I really liked HJ’s frustration over the posts to begin with, its cathartic for us.

  49. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

@FF, yes that the main and most important difference between JC and YB. YB takes the side of the one offering the most money.

  50. The redemption of Sungbae Bong!! lit from behind!!!! the reflection of JC emerging from the light as a savior. Very funny!

  51. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

@WE, 35:16 we see that JC expresses his feelings without words as he thanks HJ for helping to look for the vacuum cleaner.

LOL even HJ’s boss does such a good deed. LOL the granny pants they are wearing!!!

  52. dream that I was drafted into the military again, a free=floating joke — very music hall. I laugh every time.

  53. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

@IB LOL Mr Choi bowing to all who found the vacuum cleaners as his elders except for the ‘obese brother’ police officer. “I don’t have a big belly, just a small chest!” LOLOL.

  54. The cleaning robot: notice the scene cuts. To do it as HS finds it at the same time of JC.

  55. LOLOLOL

  56. Yet another temptation scene. Pro Shin’s suggestion.

  57. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

@IB, what brought about your dream of being back in the military?

  58. Hyang Mi’s chance to interlock her fingers with JC, lol.

  59. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

@WE, Yes I noticed how the scenes were intercut so that the vacuum cleaner was discovered at about the same time by JH and HJ.

  60. The brother in highschool — the kids reflect society perfectly (so far, netizen posts, demonstrators at the door of the prosecution and now the kids).

  61. U-tak is such a caring friend, he asks HJ to give Do Hak Kyung a chance to voice his grievances after suffering from wrongful public accusations.

  62. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

@IB now we see that even the Good Guys can be tempted to do what is ‘convenient’ instead of what is right. And the Media too make decisions on what makes them look good rather than on what could save an innocent person.

  63. @GB — Choi disguises his volent revulsion at the idea of going back to the dump as a sudden nap and dream….not me.

Sorry, I treasure the little bits so much and it can get random.

  64. Shin pro telling JC to indict Do Hak Kyung despite evidence demonstrating otherwise so as to appease the public frustrations. This is so wrong.

  65. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

@IB Seung Won and the other student with a father in prison have to bear the brunt of public opinion in school… a microcosm of society.

With Pros Shin’s advice ringing in his head JC needs to think it through. We get the flashback of him and HJ as teens. What HJ says this time makes the difference to both the Ahjusshi who tried to drown himself. She decides not to blame him for his brother’s killing of her father. And her words on the note that ‘anger makes the obvious difficult to do’ frees JC to do what is obvious ie take the right course.

  66. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

@FF I really like Woo Tak. It’s another one of this Writer’s habits to create a perfectly lovable person who gets the short end when it comes to the romance. Happened too in IHYV.

  67. Emotions manipulated by music and timing classically — time on Do Haks face, music, reaction shot using Mom in chicken shop, then cut away to the protestors in street reading HJ’s story and watching….and goof Pro Lee in a wif and carrying a red zinnia?

and that is why I love kdrama so much. Draining anger and sadness and squeezing out a smile.

  68. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

Wow, I like HJ’s analogy that insisting on doing what is wrong is like the navigation that keeps insisting that the wrong is right. To really have the trust of the public, the media have to be truthful.

  69. Again a good scene cut.
The pretty prosecutor tells to JC why the medias won’t change their lines about the case.
Mainwhile, FL is facing problems to publish the “robot cleaner” truth. I don’t know if it’s real or hypothetical scene, but it seems real.

  70. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

@IB unlike YB who had to use false tears to get emotional reaction from the press, we have Do Ha Kyoung crying real tears because he’s so overwhelmed by the chance to have his say. Hi tears say it all.

  71. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

@WE, both scenes are real ie not dreamt and happening at about the same time. We see the intercut of scenes again.

HJ rights the ‘wrong’ that her boss had inadvertently started at his first reporting.

LOL Pros Lee with wig and flower!

  72. Ok, it’s even better. It’s about how much people the lie hurt. And we also have a scene cut in the high-school about that.

All of this is to challenge JC about bring the case into court again, to do it reveleant. But it will contradict the no-killer guy. Give him a motivation to hurt JC. Well, I’m not convinced by that anyway, but let’s say it’s ok motivation.

To help JC to make a decision, we get now a flashback, childhood one. Here, I missed something maybe, but not sure why he did the decision. Please help me to understand.

  73. JC finally recognizes HJ the baseball boy.

  74. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

@E Now only then does JC realise who HJ is … the same person who wrote the note on ‘anger’. But that person was supposed to be a boy.

Flashback scenes again to help us link up the kids and the adults. And with the OST that is appropriate “It’s you!”

  75. JC was not stabbed, he is being shot by a riffle.

  76. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

@WE, the temptation was to go with the flow of the emotion ie anger which made everyone blame the innocent man. But HJ decided to not blame the Ahjusshi in her youth and then she wrote that ‘anger make the obvious thing (ie the right thing) hard to do’. So JC decided not to give in to the angry crowd, and decided to trust that even the Press would not work up more anger against him but instead do the obvious thing, ie tell the truth.

Fortunately for him, he has HJ and her boss on the side of truth.

  77. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

@WE, we get JC’s intention to confess his love to HJ at the end.

  78. @WE, HJ as a child stands in for the forces of anger and unreason. She almost drowns the young JC and Choi, and screaming pulls them out of the water against her will. So her story gives the possibility that JC should trust (throw himself in the water leaving a rope in her hand) in the overcoming of anger by those who have been instigated to threaten him personally. Pro Shin from experience does not trust the public or the media. JC decides it is better to stick to what is clear, justice, and to trust that the result will not destroy him. Such a cool guy, JC, temperaturewise.

  79. @GB, Thanks. I’m at 54:00, and got new flashbacks and now happy scenes in present.

  80. An aside: I think this was the episode I recognized that the actor who played HJ’s seonbae also played the husband in Knight Flower. He’s one of those actors who is so versatile that you do not recognize him from role to role.

  81. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

@IB that’s a nice way of putting it. Yes now I can see the analogy of leaving HJ with the rope and trusting her to pull him out of the water should he start to drown. What a great way to illustrate with a parallel. The only thing is that at this stage, JC does not yet know that HJ had hesitated and could have let him drown together with Ahjusshi, because she’d been so angry at that time. So he’s really going on blind trust that someone in the Press might be stubborn and stick to the truth.

  82. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

@SD, Yes, you’re right. I’d forgotten the shows in which I’ve seen him (Oh Eui Shik) but I checked and he’s in Knight Flower.

  83. So who is the guy in the black hat at the protests? He walks away with his sign once Hak Young is released. I don’t recognize him.

  84. Cliffhanger. We guess it’s the old man with hunting riffle who shoot from his car.
So, it’s the nightmare from HS.
    It’s good as a cliffhanger.

HOWEVER: I think such a rifle wouldn’t create such a kind wound, like it’s a 9mm pistol. It’s heavy caliber with lot of subshoots. The belly would be more impacted, and almost anything in the belly devasted with a huge hole in the back.

  85. @GB, I see that I am making a connection JC couldnt yet in the present of the narrative (sitting in the hallway contemplating). He could remember (he was present) Pamtori telling the young Choi that she forgives him although she was angry…

I was wondering why all the preparation and reiteration of JC’s wounding, the lights, the music, all seemed to smooth out the actual experience of the real scene for the viewer and elevate it into sadness rather than fear and anger….leaving that to echo in the air.

it takes so long to formulate such thoughts that I end up out of line in the conversations, sorry.

  86. ciao everybody and be well. Until next week.

  87. Bye everyone, it’s zzzz time for me.

  88. Bye @WE, @FF, @IB, @GB. I will be out of town next Saturday, visiting relatives, so I will see you in a couple of weeks.

  89. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

@SD, the guy in black is just one of the angry people who cannot accept that the ‘killer’ was set free. He’s just there to make us wonder if it was him or Do Kyoung who tries to kill JC.

  90. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

Bye All! See most of you next week!

  91. I actually thought the original stabber was the father. The height and girth from behind looked like him I thought.

  92. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

PLANNING FOR THE NEXT PARTY – I know we are still in September but after next week it will be October!!!

I’m looking for another show to watch. I am wondering if we are game to try a FIRST watch rather than a rewatch. There’s a new time-loop show (a bit like Reset but not quite) that sounds interesting. It’s a Chinese Drama called ‘Mobius’. @WE will you have difficulties getting subs?

    = = =
