  1. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

Hi Everyone! A bit of news on a change in our Rewatch Party plans … It seems after some rewatching that ‘Mobius’ may not make good rewatch material, hence we are shifting our choice of show to “Remember: War of the Son”. This kdrama aired in 2015, and is 20 episodes long.

R: WotS is another show with an interesting premise … will the fantastically detailed memory of the son save his father’s life?

    Have you watched it before?

  2. Hello GB

Now that my knee is somewhat better.I am busy reclaiming my house😁. Lots to do!

I have watched Remember war of the son. I think there was more to unpack than I appreciated at the time, which was a few years ago.

Have a good rewatch , and I will try to stay on top of the next rewatch so that I do not get so far behind that I cannot catch up.

  3. Morning @GB!
    Looking Forward to new show!

    Starting now

  4. Alone together?

Stand by me. Lovely to make the rescue scene narrow down to just the two of them together in the lobby.

Presumably the cop partner and YB are struggling to get down the stairs, helpfully out of sight of her resuscitation.

They MLs rescue her based on ‘dreams’ which really are more like telepathy, they come so suddenly.

  5. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

    Hi Everyone, Started!!

  6. Hi @GB, belated happy birthday!

  7. @gb how far behind me are u? I will move backwards ..

  8. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

Hi @MM, glad to know that your knee is better. See you when you can come around again!

  9. Hi fei fei!

  10. Just woke up after dozing off.

  11. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

Hi @FF, thanks. Glad to see you!

  12. Hi @IF, where are you? I will just jump in.

  13. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

Hi @IB, I’m at 9 minutes in where Snaky Lee lies to the police.

  14. I just started snake is trying to kill the killer.

  15. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

@FF, I also dozed off and forgot the time!

  16. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

Snake looks worried now … HJ didn’t die as expected.

  17. I will go with gbso now at about 15 min

  18. JC came to HJ’s rescue, he knows what HJ is suffering from and her symptoms.

  19. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

@IB, I’m at where Mr Choi comes to the hospital and meets JC.

  20. Or not?

  21. Lee YB is also taking risk lying to the police, he is betting that HJ will die and he will be saved.

  22. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

@FF, it was fortunate that the killer said aloud what the symptoms of the poison would be. So JC knew he had to help her breathe.

  23. Choi is leaving JC to spy on the snake?

  24. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

@IB I’m at the backstory of how Mr Choi regrets what happened with his brother. He never actually says who he is, but he tells the tale of what he and his brother did. So now JC knows who he is.

  25. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

@FF, Choi never actually says so, but he feels he cannot stay on at the Prosecution as he’s still under investigation himself.

At least he gives JC fatherly advice before leaving.

  26. @GB, and JC should know that Choi dreams of him by now.

  27. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

Choi also never tells JC that he also has premonitions in dreams.

  28. hong kyung (now in film good news) plays the younger brother deserter. Choi’s relationship with him is crucial.

  29. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

@FF, I think JC can guess that Choi’s super power is that he has the dreams too.

  30. @GB, Choi did not but JC should be able to guess because he rescued Choi and has been receiving money from this mysterious man even when he relocates his home.

  31. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

More lies from Snaky Lee. Even performing for the on lookers by kneeing before the son of the man he condemned unjustly. I’m glad the son managed to land a kick on him.

  32. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

@FF, yes, that’s right! You’re correct. Choi was always able to find JC to send money.

  33. That scene makes me hot under the collar. Gas lighting lawyer.

  34. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

@IB, I’ve wanted to slap Snake’s face several times. He’s so arrogant. He’s finally stooped to committing murder.

Now we have HJ up and moving already. She’s been having dreams too and is up to date with the news.

  35. Snaky Lee YB is so irritating, pretending to apologize knowing the reporters are watching and provoking the young man to kick him. Such a drama mama.

  36. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

Choi is at the new law firm and we see Snake Lee starting to panic now that he knows HJ is awake.

  37. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

Hah! now Snake is going to get a scolding from boss.

  38. Hi everybody.
Sorry to be late: there was the time-change and I didn’t know.

  39. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

Hi @WE, when did the time change? Yesterday?

  40. Lots of foci on lawyers. Boomtiddy boom, choi tells yb hj is awake. We can feel his fear

  41. Hi @WE, time change in your region DLS?

  42. Our time change is tomorrow. Sorry you got stuck @WE.

  43. The snake works for snaky boss.

  44. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

Ah @WE, your time change happened last Sunday!

  45. @ff Snaky boss. Yup ultimate successful lawyer. The price salary bit with pro lee is funny.

  46. Lee is watching the murder with a red umbrella.
But change his mind (or rather had a plan). So Lee is doing something good finally?

  47. I really liked the controlling impulsive behavior being on JC now instead of hj.

  48. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

@IB we see JC holding it in in front of Snake. He would love to hit him.

Lawyer disallows most of the evidence.

  49. @GB, in my country the time-change didn’t happen yet, so rewatch party I suppose is at 4pm. But in real, it’s 3pm as I can see.

  50. @we Yes why did he pick up the murderers umbrella…

  51. @GB, time change here was a week ago??
Damn, I couldnt even notice, as the clock is auto-updated. I suppose I slept one hour less or more, can’t say. What a mess. This thing should be canceled, it’s painful.

  52. Snaky boss lawyer wants to discredit al witnesses. Good instincts he knows there is a weak point…

  53. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

@WE, we are still watching at the same time.

I checked Internet and it says France time change was 26 October 2025.

  54. U-Tak dreamt of the court proceedings and the defence disallows so many of the evidence.

  55. Now, Suzy is about to become a vegetable.

  56. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

LOL @WE, the vegetable called HJ is going to testify in court LOL.

  57. We are on the rooftop and new focus on utak. Everyone licks the top of their yogurt bottles

  58. U-tak’s wallpaper in his handphone clearly tells that he likes HJ, yet the clueless HJ only has eyes for JC.

  59. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

JC’s voiceover sounds so sad… as they approach the court. Someone’s words will be the last????

HJ acknowledges Mr Choi as Ahjusshi.

  60. The cop guy: I just watched him in Snowdrop. He’s able to handle a main role. Not obvious in WYWS.

At 13:00, Lee Jong Suk is crying. I’d need screenshots of him crying for my visual-screenplay. If you find some, say me.

  61. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

@FF, it was so cute that HJ did not recognise her own shadow.

  62. U tak loves hj in the shadows.

  63. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

@WE… I think you can find images of LJS crying maybe in Google Images?

    I’ll look out for more.

  64. Another great court scene We can see all our favourite supporting characters in the front rows. Good music.

  65. U-tak is a special character in this drama, calm and logical, subtly supporting the 2 main leads and doesn’t get the girl. Loveable yet a little sad.

  66. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

@IB that’s a nice way to say it.

Hah, knowing that Mr Choi is going to take the fall, JC asks a good question to point the finger at LYB.

  67. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

@IB stressful music!! Now JC has to find a way to protect HJ and then Woo Tak. HJ is totally able to recall and testify.

  68. U tak nervousness heightened for viewer by constant referral to his dreams Abt evidence.

  69. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

@FF Woo Tak actor gets a lot of lead roles now.

  70. @GB, not working well. I’ll try. But I prefer to take screenshots from dramas. My main source is from W, but he doesn’t cry a lot in this. He cries in “I hear your voice” but is too young in this.

Lee is slimy, doesn’t want to take responsability because the law doesn’t need it. Sure, he makes peole angry like mad. He’s bad. I guess he won’t have any redemption arc, because like GB says often, in PHR dramas, villains remain bad until the end!

  71. Well it was the defence’s choice to make Choi take the stand and JC took the opportunity to point out that snake stands to benefit most from fabricating the evidence.

  72. Oh, the umbrella in murderers hand is the proof that yb carried hj.

  73. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

JC has to be the hero who stands up to the snaky defence lawyers. He does it well. It’s so obvious that what applies to HJ in terms of hallucinatory effects in the tablets, also applies to LYB but they wanted to discredit only her testimony.

  74. Classic gaslighting. Doubt your own experience. Hj cornered by medicine bottle label.again wonderful choral commenting from courtroom front rows.

  75. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

HJ knows that Woo Tak cannot differentiate the colours.

  76. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

@IB, the front row was cute!

Now it’s going to be Woo Tak who risks his career by testifying.

  77. A reporter’s instinct, she tested him with the green charger.

  78. U-tak has to make a choice, come clean about his colour blindness and risk losing his job or lie to indict YB.

  79. Suzy is fine now. Going out of hospital like nothing happened. JS caress her head like she’s a gentle cat. 😀

  80. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

So the cliff hanger is Woo Tak’s testimony. Must watch the next episode!!!

But we get a bit of prologue. Cute!!

  81. He hugs her finally, will be his last too. JC prevented all his attempt to get close to HJ.

  82. U tak to hj. Ooh, near missing viewers mind, between hug/kiss. Sentimental ballad. Eases the heart.

  83. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

Sorry, I meant epilogue… of sorts… Cute how WT managed to get the shadow heads to look like they were leaning in on each other.

  84. I like the dialogue about why JC is angry but can’t let his anger going out because it’s counter-productive.

  85. Now we get the backstory of how U-tak took the picture for his handphone wallpaper. Sweet and sad.

  86. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

@WE, JC had the greatest self-control in the face of LYB’s smugness.

  87. They eat a yougourth (and licks the opening), what is a hyper-link with a previous scene (ep 2 or 3) of them doing that too.

  88. I am sad the show is ending.

Glad that the next watch isn’t Mobius.
I finally started it up again: cluttered backgrounds, unhelpful soundtracks, a five day limit on time loops during which time jbt can get weird haircuts.

I would have trekked thru w/y’all but happy to try something new.
I appreciate yr choices. Picking something to watch before 2017/16 terrorizes me. Women’s roles so often stereotypes.

  89. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

@WE, yes the yoghurt is the linking object for the 3 main leads.

  90. I have never heard of the drama Remember War of the Son. Need to look it up.

  91. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

@IB, the look of the 2015 show is definitely not slick like now. Women will be relegated to supporting roles… Park Min Young is the female lead.

  92. Just looked up WotS. Good actors, director did man to man and agency, both of which I liked. Screenwriter’s 6 dramas all rated decently, but I haven’t watched any.

I am a raging namkoong min fan.

  93. Poor park min young in man to man (same director) having to play a dumb chick. She did a great job tho.

  94. Counter-attack. JC takes the argument of defense and change it against them. Or at least to avoid the disaster.

  95. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

@IB, I’m glad you like the actors. The cast is definitely solid.

  96. I think Cashero, lee chang min’s (the director) latest, will finally be released in December/January. It is a superpowers show with lee junho.

  97. @IF, I think you will love to hate NKM in this. One of the best villain ever in a kdrama.
Screenwriter did Lawless Layer and Persecutor Doberman. He’s talentulous. 😉

Some of your comments about Mobius. I’d need to copy-paste my comment here. But in short, not enough rewatch value.

Here a message I send to GB earlier this day about this cdrama:

    – Perfect episode 1.
    – Cristal clear, no confusion, everything’s very easy to get and even over-explained.
    – Excellent fight and gunfight scenes. Just, it needed to do much more of them as it’s a real strengh. Pure Hong-Kong action.
    – Then, as it’s a single case with 5 loops, no real suspense in the 4 first ones (most of drama).
    – Terrible choices about “trepidant background music” during moments where nothing happens.
    – Lot of scenes where actors act like robots, reciting their lines.
    – Most of scenes about plot-points or cold talking.
    – Very low number of really good scenes.
    – Of course, almost no cliffhanger (but let’s take it like that, it’s how cdramas are made).
    – More than cliffhanger, there is also a will to sabotage any “woo!” effects or revelations, like “someone else sees the loop” was treated like “oh, ok? Nothing. Let’s see what’s happens next”.
    – Here, my favorite “woo!” scene is when (in an absurd way) FL has labo-mouse at home, and reveal one of experience show that a mouse has “premonition” in a labyrhinth, then ML recite the Loop dates. It’s excellent, but shouldn’t be the best one in a supernatural thriller!!
    – Many far-fetched, not believable situations. ML puts ennemy out of combat but not check the guy is really out of combat. Instead, go to see FL. Ennemy come back, and, fight again.

  98. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

@WE, LJS cries a lot in Episode 16 around 21:00 minutes onwards.

  99. @GB, thanks. I’ll take a look.

    Have a good week everybody.

  100. Dear @WE, thanks for recopying the comments abt Mobius.
Now I can’t stop laughing abt the lab mouse with premonitions.

  101. Ok, bye WE, GB and FF.

    see you in episode 16.

  102. Re actors in RWotS, I thought I would have to watch a seungho ml drama for background, but in a silly way I already have — I adored Imaginary Cat (2015).

  103. @IF, I was just watching “Imaginary Cat” this week.
It’s the most cute drama I ever watched, thanks to the adorable cat. 😽
I know the actor for “I’m not a robot” and “owner of the mask”.

I started to rewatch RWotS and damn-it! It’s better than what I remember.
Even the directing is top (with 2015 limitations, older cams and budget).
By the way, the director did “Giant” before, so no wonder why.
It focus a lot on faces, a bit like “Signal”, for emotional hits.

There is a good casting, various heads you know.
And Park Min Young. She was at the top of her beauty at this time.
She’s working a bit for the family Pizza. Makes me remember “Healer”.

  104. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

@WE, ah Healer … one of my top favourite dramas. Park Min Young was so attractive there and in R:WotS. Pity her face became so much more angular over time. (Same with Suzy!) I guess the youthful rounded cheeks give way to hollows and bone!

  105. @GB, I suspect it’s because when the actresses become older, they do too much diet. They think if they can be thin they will remain beautiful, but it’s the opposite happening. Yep, they loose their pretty round face and become “trigonometrically angular”. 😂

But if I take the example of actress Go Hyun Jung, she was 38 when she did Queen Seon Duk and was very pretty, round face. Even after, she was still pretty during a long time. Maybe not today, she lose weight a bit, and all her roles are about women without make-up, sad, tired or morbid. So ofc, it’s difficult to find her pretty in this.

  106. Oh dear, that was Kim min Jung, not PMY in Man to Man. Sorry, a mental end-rhyme slip bec of the director. KMJ went on to Mr.Sunshine.

Healer is on my top 20 ever, and I always forget that is PMY. She, JCW and Yoo Ji Tae, as the 3 lost children of the revolution, had really perfectly balanced roles in the plot, equally strong skills.

I have seen most of her more recent work, but now I want to go back and see her plump face in earlier shows!

  107. Hey. I’ve an AWESOME NEWS !!!
I was checking by chance in my k-screenplay folder and…
… I discovered I had downloaded “Remember war of the son” screenplay months ago.
I did a check: it’s not a transcript, it’s the REAL screenplay from the writer!!!

Currently, I’m working on a protocol for GrokAI to translate it in english.
Grok generates some errors, so I need time to fix that, but I still could translate some bits of the script. I’ll probably re-translate it better later.

Here the first scenes of episode 1:

    _________________________________________________________
#01. (VISION) PRISON CORRIDOR / AFTERNOON

The screen opens to reveal a dark and gloomy prison corridor.
Two prison guards are holding Seo Jae-Hyuk on both sides and walking him.
Seo Jae-Hyuk, seeing the ‘execution room’ sign beyond his gaze, his legs give out and he collapses.

    _________________________________________________________
#02. (VISION) EXECUTION ROOM / AFTERNOON

The guards hang a rope around Seo Jae-Hyuk’s neck.
The screen pulls back to show people watching the execution process through a glass window.
Among them is Jin-Woo (22 years old)!

SEO JAE-HYUK: (spotting Jin-Woo and starting to resist) Jin-Woo. Tell those people.
    I’m not the culprit!!!

Seo Jae-Hyuk pushes away even the guards and bangs on the glass window.

SEO JAE-HYUK: (screaming) Jin-Woo. You promised to get me out of here. Get me out!!

JIN-WOO: (pleading to the prison official) Please save my dad.

The guards forcibly drag Jin-Woo away and hold Seo Jae-Hyuk to hang the rope around his neck again.
Jin-Woo’s desperate eyes. The guard presses the red execution button.
With a thud! sound, the floor drops and Seo Jae-Hyuk falls down with a thump the moment-

    JIN-WOO: No!!

    _________________________________________________________
#03. OUTSKIRTS LAW FIRM OFFICE / MORNING

Gasp- Jin-Woo (22 years old) opens his eyes. It was a dream. His face is drenched in sweat.
Taking a breath and turning his head, Jin-Woo sees the calendar.
There is one red circle marked on the calendar.

    _________________________________________________________
#04. PRISON VISITATION ROOM / MORNING

Sunlight filtering through the window. A dazzlingly sunny day.
Jin-Woo (22) in a suit is waiting for the visit.
With a ‘clank’, the heavy iron door opens and Seo Jae-Hyuk (52) in prison uniform enters.
A red tag with his inmate number. Born with a gentle impression, but looks tired and haggard.

SEO JAE-HYUK: (seeing Jin-Woo) I don’t remember. If it’s not our first meeting, I’m sorry.

Not recognizing him, countless emotions pass through Jin-Woo. Unable to answer right away-

JIN-WOO: I’m Seo Jin-Woo. I’m Seo Jae-Hyuk’s legal representative. I’ve been assigned to defend the
retrial that’s reopening after 4 years.
SEO JAE-HYUK: Sorry for not recognizing. You look a bit young for a lawyer… Excuse me, but your age?
JIN-WOO: Twenty-two. I got my license quickly because it was urgent.
SEO JAE-HYUK: If you’re a lawyer, you know well that I’m a death row inmate, and about my illness?
    JIN-WOO: I know.

Jin-Woo opens his briefcase and takes out document files,
‘Seochon Female College Student Murder Trial Records’, ‘Seochon Female College Student Murder Evidence’ etc. are visible.

JIN-WOO: The retrial opens tomorrow. Things you need to prepare for then (but)
SEO JAE-HYUK: (cutting in) What remains in life is neither money nor honor…
It’s memories. But even those memories won’t remain for me.
    JIN-WOO: ….
SEO JAE-HYUK: People here say. I’m a really bad criminal. That I killed a female college student just over
twenty. Whether unfortunate or fortunate… I have no memory of it.
(pause) Lawyer. I have something to say. That trial reopening after 4 years…
    JIN-WOO: (looking)
    SEO JAE-HYUK: I won’t do it.

Jin-Woo puts down the documents he was holding on the table with a thud.

JIN-WOO: Because I’m too young.. Do I seem lacking in experience, making you worry?
    You can be honest.
    SEO JAE-HYUK: (no answer)
JIN-WOO: Trust me. I have confidence I’ll win.

The two looking at each other. The two somehow resemble each other.
Breaking that silence, entering is Seo Jae-Hyuk.

SEO JAE-HYUK: You seem like you’ll do well, lawyer. But just because I have no memory doesn’t mean the
crime I committed disappears, does it? Eating three meals a day here…
    Breathing is endlessly guilty.
    JIN-WOO: (looking)
SEO JAE-HYUK: I’ll receive the price for killing a person. I’ll repent and atone here.

At those words, Jin-Woo has an unexpectedly calm expression.

SEO JAE-HYUK: You’re not very surprised.
    JIN-WOO: (looking)
SEO JAE-HYUK: (thinking deeply) How many times have we had this conversation?
JIN-WOO: Saying you won’t appeal is seven, saying you’ll gladly receive the price is nine, saying you’ll do well even though you’ve never seen me once…
    Ten times exactly.
SEO JAE-HYUK: (embarrassed) You memorized all that?
JIN-WOO: (smiling awkwardly) My memory is pretty good.

Between the two, awkward silence flows.

JIN-WOO: Even if we have this exact conversation again tomorrow, listen well.
Seo Jae-Hyuk is innocent. You were framed and were there for 4 years.
Don’t say you won’t do the trial or give up.
    That’s irresponsible.

    Jin-Woo, restraining his rising emotions-

JIN-WOO: Even if you can’t remember, remember. I’m not defending just to prove
Seo Jae-Hyuk’s innocence. There’s someone else who should be in that seat.
    I’ll make that person pay.
    SEO JAE-HYUK: (bowing head)
JIN-WOO: (trembling voice) Since I’m betting everything as Seo Jae-Hyuk’s lawyer to get you out of there..
So promise. That you absolutely won’t give up until then. Okay?

Seo Jae-Hyuk looks up at Jin-Woo. Jin-Woo’s eyes are shaking.
Because Jin-Woo’s emotions were conveyed? High school student Jin-Woo’s voice rings in Seo Jae-Hyuk’s ears.

(JIN-WOO): (crying) Dad… Wait a little. I’ll get you out.

  108. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

    Hi @WE!
This is great… I may even prefer to read than to watch some of those scenes that bother me. I find myself wanting to skip the difficult bits where characters are being mean.

Thanks for taking the time and trouble to translate it neatly with AI. Although it’s faster, it’s still time-consuming.

    Will read you later!
