The Great Seducer: Final Week

It’s the final week of The Great Seducer. My message to the scriptwriter and director:

lol.

Things I like from Episodes 25 to 28.

1. The wedding pictorial.

lol. Why isn’t she smiling her normal smile?

2. His goodbye. “Lately when I wake up in the morning, the first thing that’s on my mind is that you are not too far away from me. But there will come a morning when the first thing on my mind is that you are far away from me. There will also come a day when all I think about is that I have deceived you. Even when such a day comes, I pray every single day that I will still remember your smile.”

Nice. He’s saying that he understands the progression of his pain.  He’s happy now. But he’s expecting sadness to come soon. And after that, he knows torment will settle in… because he’s wronged her. And when that inevitable time arrives,  he hopes that his remembrances of her – as she is on this day that they’re spending together – will help him survive his pain.

True, he met her through duplicity. But if it hadn’t been for that unscrupulous games, then he wouldn’t have these memories of her smiles.

3. lol. I don’t think SeJoo’s trick would shake loose TaeHee’s feelings for ShiHyun. After temporarily becoming confused, she’d figure out that THIS was the secret that SH had been wanting to tell her all this time but couldn’t.

4. I like how they’re setting up the Oppa/Lawyer/Fiance to be the bad guy who’ll end up fighting with Valmont…errr… SJoo. In the original book, Valmont and the boyfriend dueled each other and Valmont was fatally injured.

I’m hoping that since the Oppa/Lawyer/Fiance is blaming SJ for messing up HyeJung, he’ll go after SJ and SJoo – NOT SH – will step in to fight for her. Let the two jerks duke it out.

👉Edited to add this: what I hated about this week’s episode. Plot hole. If SJ’s mom hit TaeHee but she had to rush off to another emergency, then why didn’t she simply take TH in the car with her or call 911 to report the incident? Leaving her on the side of the road unattended … 🙄⁉️ Poor writing.

@Tamara who wrote: Same Oli, I was cracking up because someone said why has the writer all of sudden changed Sejoo’s character last minute…..what he did is definitely in character.

My response: Yup, sister!

But we have to rescue them.

And yes, there are cases when “damage control” is worse than the original damage.

@Arihsia, how are you liking your name? 🙂 I finally caught up so I’m going to watch with you all tomorrow. I thought TH looked cool when she walked up to SH while he was “whispering her name. and asked him, “Why?” (meaning, “What’s up?”)

SH: This is a miracle. (lol. Typical kdrama girl response would be to clasp her hands together and gasp,”You’re here!”)
TH: You called me. (laconically)
SH: You really came! (I could hear a kdrama girl squealing here, “Is this really you? I’m not dreaming?”)
TH: Say it. Why did you call me” (If a guy was saying, he’d would sounded more impatient, and say, “Well, you did call me didn’t you? What’s this all about? What do you want?”)

lol. No wonder the haters of Joy are saying that she doesn’t know how to act. They don’t get the point. They MISSED the point here too. TH is supposed to be the taciturn, unemotional, tsundere guy.

I’ll temporarily shelve A Poem a Day and watch the Great Seducer because it’s the final week.

  1. I’m hoping for a nice final episode and a happy ending for SH & TH. Over at the Drama Milk blog, the immortal words of Bah + Doo: ” This show is complete nonsense.” Hahahahaha! 🙂 So true, but I’m addicted until the very end. can’t wait to discuss with everyone here.

  2. Hahaha. It’s nonsense but it worked. It seduced a lot of people to watch.

Okay. Gotta run. Will post later.

  3. 1. I had the same reaction lol but then I guess it’s because she picked up on the way he sounded like he was going to leave.

    2. That’s true. To be honest I was wondered why he couldn’t have admitted about the bet in the hospital room when he told her she wasn’t alone in liking him. All these missed opportunities but I understand that his wanting of “one more day” with her is because he was afraid of loosing her. But he trusted in his friends too much thinking they’d allow him to reveal it on his own, and by doing that he left her exposed (granted he was going to tell her that night though lol)

    4. 😒 episode 30 is for those people who said Sihyun was a selfish friend 🙄

Edit- right! She was smart enough check for severe injuries (and found them) but then just left lol. But then again this is Miri we’re talking about. The affairs of SH’s mother and father was more important since she’s made it her business.

😂😂😂😂😂😂 that picture. I actually had tears in my eyes while laughing. Who drew that?!
    Did you do that? 😂😂😂

I’m telling you SH and TH’s character have gone over peoples heads completely. And I agree they hated Joy’s acting because they just didn’t get it. I’m sure they didn’t even give her a chance because they were too infatuated with ‘complex’ sooji to realise who TH is and the whole moral of the story lol

  4. Are the subs out?
Yes, I drew that a long time ago for another drama I was commenting on.

  5. Not yet.

You can apply it to every drama lol.

  6. hahaha. I can reuse and recycle.

When you wrote that SH kept on saying “One More Day,” I’m suddenly reminded of Les Miz where the choir sang “One Day More!”

    One day more!
    Another day, another destiny.
    This never-ending road to Calvary;
These men who seem to know my crime
Will surely come a second time.
    One day more!

    MARIUS
I did not live until today.
How can I live when we are parted?

    hahaha.

  7. Subs for Ep. 29-30 are out at Kocowa. Viki subs are still in progress. I think the other sites use kocowa subs, so subs should be available now on internet.

  8. Yes, I’m already on Ep 30.
I don’t have Kocowa. What’s that? Is it like Viki or Dramafever?
    So far so good.

  9. Hellos! I really like my “new” name. Very good selection by Packmule3❤️ As you can see, I’ve started using it often.😛 I am really hoping for a well directed episode that ties everything well. Please, writer and director! Give us some returns of sticking with this through the nonsense! I also agree that people do not seem to have understood SH or TH AT ALL. It was so common to see infuriated people commenting on how TH shouldn’t accept SH or forgive him in previous episodes. I don’t think she’s being “easy” when she does this. One must never put up with abuse in a relationship, but forgiveness is a different animal altogether. It’s so essential for a healthy, long-lasting relationship of any kind!

  10. I like that TH gave her instructions on how to forgive BEFORE she found out that she had to forgive SH.
I liked what her father told her. That there’s muscle memory to love.
“You cannot hide the fact that you like someone. Your feelings are like your muscles. When the good feelings you had for someone become stronger, you can’t move any other way. It’s as if your body remembers how it felt when you like them. It makes you move in that direction.”

That’s the first time I’ve heard of that idea in a kdrama.

And that’s how she’ll fall in love with SH again in the future.

  11. Yes, Kocowa is similar to Viki & Dramafever. Kocowa is owned by the Big 3 networks in South Korea: MBC, KBS, SBC. Currently, Kocowa is only available in North America. Basically, you sign up for a free account and then you can decide wheter you or not yoi want to be a paid member. Non members can watch some selected dramas with commercials for free. Non Members also have access to the Taste24 feature. Taste24 gives access to episodes of currently airing dramas (with commercials) for 24 hours after air in South Korea. After the 24 hours is up, the episodes are locked for members only.
Paying members can watch all dramas on the site at anytime and commercial free.

I’ve been watching TGS on Kocowa as part of Taste24. Surprisingly, the episodes are usually posted on the site around 4pm Eastern. If anyone here wants to try it, just sign up for a free account, then log in and go to the Tempted page on Kocowa, and click on the episode once its been posted. You must be logged in to watch the eps. Yes, there are commercials but they aren’t too annoying.

  12. Rats. You got me perked up when you said all dramas in MBC, KBS and SBC but I re-read it and you said only only in North America.

My viki and dramafever are good only here in the US. I often travel abroad for work, to South East Asia/East Asia and Europe and that’s when I need my dramas to relax after. For instance, Boys Over Flowers was showing the last time I was in Tokyo, but of course, it wasn’t subbed. hahahaha.

Every time I’m in Seoul I get super excited because I’m actually in the land of kdramas but again, same trouble. They’re not subbed.

“So close and yet so far.”

Then, of course, I can’t let my staff know that I watch kdramas. That’s my “little” secret. I will take this to the grave with me. hahaha.

    But thanks for explaining.

  13. “Muscle memory to love” is such an interesting concept. I must’ve missed this whole thing because I skip multiple scenes while watching. I want to now watch a kdrama wherein I hang on each scene. You’d recommend poem a day, right?

  14. So, I’ve seen the final episode of this drama. Overall, I’m glad that there was no death and we have a happy ending for Tae Hee and Shi Hyun. Solid performances by Moon Ga Young, Kim, Min Jae and Woo Do Hwan. Joy was fine in her role. The drama had issues with the writing, pacing, editing, directing, and some acting but I still found it addictive, especially once I adjusted my expectations to the fact that this was going to be more of a standard youth melodrama. I commend the writer for the flashes of unexpected humor in the script, an unusual main female lead character, and going off book to deviate from source material re: ending, as some viewers might have said that the ending was a copout. It was great discussing the drama here with everyone-lots of really cool insights.
