  1. Great to hear from you @PM3 and for opening this thread. I have yet to watch the show so will catch up later.

  2. This looks like it might be really good. Rather interesting for me here in North America, after a day of solar eclipse news to tune in to this show, starring the group eclipse.
On a day when there is a solar eclipse in the show.

Some heavy mental health themes and disability themes. I hope it stays good.

  3. I thought these were members of the band eclipse but I think perhaps not. There is a girl group called eclipse and a filipino boy group called eclipse.

The first song they do on stage is professional so That reinforced my idea that it was a k pop group Although the music was more of a rock style Then what we generally think of as k pop although that k pop umbrella can be pretty wide.

The bio for the main lead does not mention that he is a member of a K pop group. Others may know him in previous acting roles.

  4. @Monmor – what an auspicious day for first episode to happen on eclipse day and the first scene is a solar eclipse, too! And the band is named Eclipse. it’s a band, though the treatment is kpop. The actor looks legit lead singer during the concert. Not sure if he did the actual singing. In rl, he started as a model before becoming an actor.

The scene with the FL at the hospital answering a random call from the radio and what happens afterwards was pretty heavy but a good setup why Sun Jae became his idol afterwards. Made me teary eyed. I’m hooked.

  5. Kalimera Ladies!

I will be joining you as well. The things is that I am also watching “The Midnight Studio” and I cannot do both at the same time.

Anyway, it gave me “Twinkling Watermelon” vibes!

Kim Hye Yoon as Im Sol is killing it so far for me and I want to see more of
Byeon Woo Seok as Ryu Seon Jae.

I read somewhere that they released it the same day with the solar eclipse, since their band is called Eclipse!

@Janey It is good to see you here too!

    @Arihsi and @Fern where are you? 😛

  6. Yay, great to watch this with you, @Cleo! It’s my first time to see the actress playing Sol. She reminds me of Kim Tae Ri. BTW, I’ll be traveling to Greece in early July (Santorini, Mykonos and Athens). Would love to meet up if you’re ok and available and close to any of these places. It’s my first time and we are very excited! Travel tips are very much welcome, too!

  7. Hey @Janey!

It is my first time watching the actress in a show too!

Of course I would love to see you in Athens if your schedule permits it! Do you have an account on MyDramaList? I will give you my handle and we can chat further there!

BTW, you are doing a fine job that you are coming early July! 😀

  8. I’ve seen the 1st episode. Just a few things I wanted to comment on: The mother has a burn scar on her hand – was she in the same ‘accident’ as the daughter?

It seems that Sun Jae or the radio station somehow had the phone number for Im Sol, but she doesn’t know why and neither do we. There is a mention of someone who pulled her away from the accident but no further clues – I’m wondering if Sun Jae was involved which is why he’s invested in her recovery. Any ideas?

@monmor wrote that there are topics of mental health and physical disability in this drama and like her, I hope that these are treated sensitively. The kpop set-up reminds me of the Shinee or Astro members who died, so I’m hoping that there is some good message about awareness of mental health in the industry.

  9. Kalimera @Fern,

In case you didn’t know, yesterday it was the late SHINee’s Jong Hyun birthday. I read that some fans were mad because it aired that specific date, but I don’t think the Production aired the show because of that, but mostly because of the solar eclipse.

As far as I know, radio station hosts can call some people in random, in order to win a prize, if they understand who is calling and from where.

I am thinking that yes, Sun Jae could be the one who saved her from the accident. As for why didn’t go to see her on the hospital is a mystery though. I do hope this part will be revealed to us.

  10. Ciao Everyone!

First things first, @pm3 !! We love you.

Thank you for the thread and being well.

    Notes on the drama

    – I think they handled the “implied” suicide well. In spite of having watched the preview/ first look many times, I still screamed with the hotel staff when he fell. It added to me being shocked alongside the FL. It was very unexpected.

They start with everyone who wanted him to live. Im sol embodying his fan base, the hotel staff who thought he’s so handsome, his manager, the unknown bell on the door, the medic who kept performing CPR throughout the ambulance ride in spite of knowing, and the doctor who kept trying to bring him back.

    – They handled her disability well. She’s crushed that she can’t walk anymore but still manages to go on. She’s talented but clearly disadvantaged. They don’t sugar coat it but at the same time don’t make her pitiable. She lives with her head held high, tries her best, she’s dearly loved by family and at least one friend. She discards thoughts of self harm because as she hears ML on the radio, “what about those you’d leave behind ?”

She’s ready to crawl (literally) for what she wants if she can’t run to it.

    – They handled the nuances of not knowing well. “I didn’t know you were in so much pain. I’m so sorry for not knowing. I’m so sorry for not noticing.”

Isn’t this the story of every other person not at a good place mental health wise ? It’s extremely difficult to know these things because they can be super subtle.

-They convinced me of the WHY of her love for Sun Jae. It was nothing shallow. She isn’t a crazy fan. She genuinely loves him and wishes him well. It came through in first hour itself. It was so nice to watch.

    Fin.

P.S. I’m consciously optimistic after the debacle of My Demon and the flatland that Wedding impossible became.

  11. @Arihsi,

I have a surprise gift for you. You asked yesterday if that was Byeon Woo-Seok’s singing voice and I read on FB and MDL that someone said that actually, in the piano scene sequence, Wook Seok actually sang with his own voice.

So, now you know too… *grins*

  12. I actually found out, someone said so on MDL’s LR Thread, that all the songs that were featured yesterday in Episode 1 are actually sung by Wook Seok.

They are also out and about on YT and Spotify under their Band Name “Eclipse”

    Here is the track list:

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ESWcsKySnNs&list=OLAK5uy_lExw3g-L5vT_dnCF7LtZipfv8cu3vrVvI

    Enjoy!

  13. Omg @cleo you are so sweet 😘

Although, Ahm… I don’t remember wondering/asking who sang the songs ? I’m glad Wook Seok can sing well because it’ll make his character more realistic. Thank you for sharing the track list as well ! I’d love to listen ❤️

  14. @Arihsi,

If it was not you, then It might be @Fern. 😵
I didn’t check the April thread and I remembered that someone asked about it…

Anyway, this is great. He has a beautiful voice! You are welcome!

  15. But I do have one question @cleo… Why do you and @fern think ML “saved” FL ? She’s still in wheelchair isn’t she ? Sure, “saved” would also mean taking one to hospital in time from sight of accident but usually in k-dramas it means saving unscathed ? He hasn’t saved her yet ?

  16. I felt very sad when he committed suicide in the show. I was definitely thinking of other k.Pop artists and actors who have done the same and just how sad it all is. Someone on a different website is hypothesizing that it was not suicide and was murder. The doorbell does ring before he lands in the pool. I hope it is not a murder mystery but rather an exploration of his mental health and hers as well.

  17. @Arihsi,

If my hunch is indeed true. Seon Jae indeed saved the FL. He saved her life.

Im Sol is still alive. Yes, she is unable to walk after the accident, but she is still living a different life from what she had envisioned in her youth. Hence his words when he talked to her on the phone in the radio show.

Which made a difference of course, because she had to overcome her grief for losing the ability of using her feet. The time, she first cried she then started to heal and realize that she can still live but in a different way. Hence her attitude is bubbly and warm in Timeline #1’s 2023.

What I can say now without having lots of information is the following: I think that SJ tried to help her, moved her from the scene of the accident and might injured himself in the process.

As we have learned, Seon Jae has a shoulder injury and he is currently a swimmer back in 2008. There has to be a reason why he stopped and pursued an idol life instead.

  18. My previous comment is being moderated. I have some additional thoughts though

I think there are a few references to previous time.Slip dramas but I can’t quite place them. One is that shallow section of the han river And the bridge as well. The other is the scene when she suddenly arrives in her classroom and she blurts out the nickname for the teacher. I think it is either Qihm, Faith or ” Live up to your name” Where the han river is featured. The scene in the classroom is reminiscent of one of the time slip.Romantic dramas that have been very popular. It may have been a Chinese one or perhaps The korean strama that was redone as a taiwanese drama. The name is eluding me right now.

The watch of course is very integral to the time travel plot. Interesting to note that there were actually 2 of them in the past timelime.Even though I would have thought there’d be only one and the same one. Also falling into a pool was featured in another time.Slip drama and of course water frequently connected to time travel.

Someone else noted the burn scar on her mother’s arm. Also the grandmother’s dementia. These two may be used to help us know which time This story is in.

Thank you for the link to the music.

  19. The more I think about this show the more I think how much potential it has. Timely Themes to do with the K-Pop industry. It may also interestingly Depict k fandom.

The symbolism of the eclipse is very interesting. Rare event, Light and dark, Life and death, Primitive religious belief. I think I’d better temper my imagination here or I will be disappointed🙂

My imagination is also going in the opposite direction. I sure hope this does not become a mystery thriller.

  20. Additionally, I noticed an odd placement of a scene where he is holding the gift She gave him when they were on the bridge in the rain. I was not sure if it was an editing mistake.Or reference to some kind of a time loop. There were a couple of other instances where I wondered If we were seeing scenes that we would later understand as part of a time loop Or in some way related to the time travel plot.

  21. Good catch, @Monmor. What is the time stamp for that scene?

  22. @fern It was the scene after the concert in the present day When her wheelchair fails her on the bridge. I may be watched today if I have time and then I can tell you the time stamp and Note other instances that might be relevant

  23. Something else that August.Well for this show is the acting and emotional portrayal in the scene where she runs into his arms in the past time.

  24. augurs well. I just realized there is a parallel between meeting him on the bridge Where he offers her the protection of his umbrella and the scene where she is desperately taking herself to the hospital after his death and loses her watch on a bridge.

  25. 32:29 @fern Is the time stamp for the scene I mentioned above.

  26. Can I just say something? You ladies are genius. @cleo @fern et al. I just saw the YouTube release clip of Ep 2 and goodness were you guys right or what !

  27. @cleo, awesome! Would love to meet you in person. I think I used mdl before, let me recalll my handle as I chatted with wenchanteur there way back. Give me yours and I’ll look for you.

And thank you for confirming BWS actually sang the songs – I was one of those who was wondering if so. That is great, the concert scenes look and sound really convincing. You can see the different persona they have on stage as a cohesive band and enjoying themselves while performing but in the behind the scenes, the relationship is frayed and they are literally breaking up. That’s why for performers like them, it’s even harder to notice a mental breakdown like SJ.
@monmor, I noticed the same “glitch” either in editing or something. SJ was shown holding the bottle ( with candy? ) earlier than when she gave it him on the bridge.
I have to rewatch some scenes as well. The subtitles disappear so fast, too. The color of the dial of watches look different to me
    Glad to read everyone here!

  28. @Janey,

We are friends with @WE in MDL, you can easily find me there!

  29. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

    Hi @Janey and @Cleo,
As Cleo knows, I’m also on MDL as GBgrowingbeautifully. It’s another way to contact each other. You can befriend me there.

  30. Subscribing to the thread to get updates – I’m not quite hooked yet ….. Is this going to be a murder mystery? I feel certain he didn’t try to end his life – but he also could have just passed out at the railing due to the combination of drugs he is on. And yes – I think he was the one who saved her from the accident. I don’t think the phone call to her hospital bed was random. I assumed his shoulder injury was from swimming – but it is clear he is in pain and hiding it.

I too thought the first 10 minutes were quite moving. I look forward to getting more of ML backstory hopefully today. Both ML and FL easily switch between their adult and teen selves (unlike ahem Dr. Slump). From the article I read about casting – that was really important to the director.

  31. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

Caught Episode 1. No time for Episode 2 yet.

Yes, I agree with all Bitches here that this Show holds promise. The premise is a bit like and yet different from Marry My Husband… time jump backwards to save both one’s idol/friend and oneself!

I’m guessing our intrepid FL will need to get the right watch in order to return to her own time, if she ever does!

  32. Ok people. I need a minute after ep 2.

The show managed to give me butterflies. Can you imagine? A pound of dust fell on the floor because those butterflies haven’t flapped their wings in more than a couple of years 🤣

  33. Ok I am hooked. Super cute episode – not quite sure how he could like Crazy Town but I’m going with it. Made me laugh and I like how it revealed the rules of the time slip and her efforts to get around it !

  34. Tons of burning questions

Do we have an amnesia plot at hand ? Maybe she never knew about him in timeline 1.0 ?
Did she forget him after her accident?
Did he call her from the radio knowingly?
He loves those candies because SHE gave them to him in timeline 1.0 ? What ? WHAT ?
A photo appeared near the candy Jar at the scene of his death? What ? WHAT ?

What ? WHAT was that plot twist ?

  35. So good to have you with us @Good Twin !

  36. Good to be here back on the Monday/Tuesday watch.

    Slightly spoilery:

I think the picture came about because she has started to change the future. After the second episode, the first episode perspective really changes. Especially his interaction with her on the bridge. Does Im Sol mean sunshine in Korean too? So she is the sunshine to his water?! So much rain and so many umbrellas.

  37. I just finished watching Episode 2.

I wanted to write earlier, but @Good Twin mentioned it as well.
I don’t really think that Sun Jae committed suicide, I think he was murdered.

Remember in Episode 1, the CEO was calling him at his smartphone, while another was hitting the bell at his door.
And then he was in the water.
I think these details are significant.

If he indeed saw Im Sol that night as well in Timeline #2 after the Eclipse concert in 2023, he would be happy to see her, (even though she might not remember him saving her or was she saved by him? Is the past repeating itself?)!

We are starting to have blurry lines since the Timelines are crashing and changing!

Im Sol cannot change the future by revealing it – which it is a brilliant device for me! Brava to the chakkanim for using it! – but as we know her actions are changing the future Timeline in a way we don’t know yet.

Hence, the appearance of the photo, that most likely Sun Jae had it in his wallet, on the coffee table in the crime scene.

This gets more of my attention! Excellent start! 👌

  38. @Cleopatra I agree 💯 – the time slip rule regarding the future is very clever!

It was nice to see the actor who plays his Dad back in a kdrama – I haven’t seen him in a while. He really likes to chomp the scenery – will look for some over the top overacting from him at some point.

  39. @Good Twin,

Kim Won Hae is one of my favorite Ahjussi(s)! He is a scene stealer. Last time I saw him, it was in Death’s Game Part 2! He did an unexpected cameo there!

Yes, this plot device is really brilliant. The Cosmic Order doesn’t let anyone to spill the beans about the future!

Hence, Bom-Ah needs to change the future by doing little changes here and there… 👌

  40. I liked Sun Jae’s recollections of interactions with Im Sol at the end of the drama. He found her package at his door. She arrived at the same time in an explosion of yellow – umbrella, sunflowers, orange and yellow vine flowers. But she thought he was the deliveryman – calls him Ahjussi. He sees her through the shop window and ends up renting Basic Instinct because he’s so flustered by her. She doesn’t really register him as a person, just as another customer at the shop. She didn’t even know he had moved into a neighboring house. So to @Arihsi’s question, did she know him – I believe that she didn’t in the original life. Not amnesia, but she simply didn’t notice him. I think that’s why he is so confused by her actions when the Im Sol from the future is so clingy and acts like she knows him.

I think the appearance of the photo means that they will have more interactions for a while.

I agree with @Cleopatra about the Cosmic Order not accepting any discussion of the future. So it’s like a game or riddle for Im Sol to try to find ways to change things without actually revealing the future. And if she can change things the future will be different anyway.

As she was standing in the traffic, there was a flash of her in her school uniform also in traffic – probably from the original life.

The competitor who tried to steal the swimming trunks; we are being set up to have him be the baddy.

So the first sign of the white candy in the clear wrapper came when Im Sol thought Sun Jae was the delivery man. I think some time later, after he became an idol, he must have revealed that he liked the candy and that’s why she had some for him on the bridge after the concert.

I wonder if she will be implicated in the crime (if there is one) because of her photo and her fingerprints on the jar of sweets?

Ref: episode 1 ending. She rushed outside without a coat to get to the hospital. I had wondered why it was so important to her to get the watch at that moment – or was it just a plot device to get her into freezing water so she could get hypothermia and ‘die’.

This is a tangent and a theory. Some people can recover from a near-death state if it’s due to cold. I’m interested to see if that occurs in this drama.
    https://www.wired.com/story/cold-trauma-suspended-animation/#:~:text=Using%20cardiopulmonary%20bypass%20%E2%80%93%20a%20procedure,had%20come%20back%20to%20life.

I found this on the internet.

  41. So that photo has not been taken yet I guess. If it was suicide then things have not changed enough Since he still commits it despite that photo And what it represents being on the table. I am pretty sure they panned the table. In episode one and the photo was not there. Evidence for it being murder is one way of thinking about it.

Another might be that we will see changes On that table as different things happen in the past And eventually we see that he does not commit suicide.

Re-reading my first paragraph. It is rather murky but I guess that’s ok for episode 2

  42. Now I understand why the scene where she runs up to him and hugs him by the swimming pool was so touching. Partly that was because he already liked her. I did think his reaction communicated too much feeling for her considering what we thought the circumstances were At that time.

It may not be particular things she does in the past but rather the relationship That they develop That changes the future.

@fern Interesting point about whether she might be implicated if it is a murder and not a suicide. . Also perhaps there will be some back and forth between the past and present. As things change we may get different editions of the future/ present.

As an aside, I seem to see the actor playing his father in every second drama I watch.

  43. Annyeong~

Thanks to BOD, I’m watching this show and loved Ep 1 and 2. I was crying and laughing out loud.

I tried not to read comments here until til after I watched the episodes. So many comments already.

It’s nice to see Byeon Woo-seok again and kim Hye-soon (Extraordinary you and snowdrop).

    My notes:

Idk why what Sun Jae said to I’m Sol during the radio call and what Im Sol said to him on the bridge after the concert did not stop him from suicide. So sad.

Poor IS. She didn’t get the job, she lost her ticket, her phone broke, her wheelchair died, then SJ died — all in the same day. Gosh.

I had a feeling that watch will be key to her going back in time with SJ. She was so emotional when she saw SJ and ran to him and gave him a big hug and told him she loved him at that Olympic pool practice game. The way she ran from the classroom to that building. Daebak. There’s a lot of running in this show already- this the title “lovely runner.” 🏃‍♂️although the literal meaning of the title is “runaway with sun-Jae on piggyback”- when will we see that?

I like the umbrella during the first snow and the umbrella on a rainy morning scenes. And when they sought shelter by that medieval arch double doorway. Loved how he ran after the bus when IS didn’t get to exit. Daebak! I didn’t think he would.

So time stops when she reveals the future.

Is SJ jealous of Tae? He is.

Did she just change Tae’s life too when she took care of his bruises. I think that’s why he started liking her. Ugh.

Did SJ save her from the accident then and again? Daebak.

So IS and SJ have met before she timed travelled. this time the umbrella is from her and it’s yellow and bright. And that he started liking that candy coz it’s from her. Does SJ like her? Yes he does. Awww he kept his arm as her pillow to the point of cramping and sweat. Daebak. And it was him who rented “basic instinct.” Not the dad. Haha. Hilarious. Omg He didn’t mean to reject her friend request. Oh no. Omo. Omo. She didn’t know he followed her to school that morning. She’s so oblivious.

I think that picture of them in the future means they did become friends – hopefully – change will be apparent and he won’t be in that hotel all alone after the concert. We shall see.

Preview— what!? maybe IS and heartbreak is the reason why he quit swimming??? Nooooh

  44. @HK_Lady – best use of the word Daebak ever!
So I read that Lovely Runner is similar to the cdrama Shining For One Thing. Since LR is the only show I am currently watching and we are a week from a new episode, I decided to tune into Shining For One Thing. Hmmm different but definitely some similarities including the (accidental?!) death of the ML In SFOT she goes back in time to meet her boyfriend/ex fiancée and captures the attention of another boy instead (ML). That is as far as I have gotten.

Anyone else care to compare and contrast with me?

  45. Ep 2 especially the ending part is giving me “20th Century Girl” (Netflix) vibes – I cried buckets on that movie! This is a redo and with the same male lead BWS! Lots of similarities like Video store, neighbors, misinterpreted FL liking another guy, even renting an R rated video. But I’m all for it, it’s literally resurrecting BWS’s character which I hope will have an alternate ending this time. ☺️
Spoiler – seems like he liked her first! Yay!
Oh, I like the cosmic rule preventing her to say anything about the future. Very creative! Also open to it being murder-mystery. The time travel is already fantastical so as long as they do a good story flow (timelines) and well paced episodes, and reasonable twists, it will keep me interested. The leads are doing a great job on the acting.
Gotta sleep for now. Will read and comment tomorrow.
    Kumawo!

  46. Kalimera Unnie!

@Janey found us on MDL! *grins*

  47. @Arihsi,

Thank you for your kind words… <3

  48. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

Kalimera my Doensaeng Cleo, yes @Janey found us. She asked for your handle LOL so I sent her your profile page. Good to be able to connect in more than one way! 🙂

  49. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

So interesting @Good Twin and @Janey. I didn’t watch those other shows but this show is giving me Someday or One Day/A Time Called You vibes. Could be that the Writer deliberately included stuff from all these shows??? We viewers find some things looking or feeling familiar and yet not.

In SOOD, the girl was also in a show renting/selling not video tapes but music casettes. The 2nd lead guy liked the girl first, but the girl falls for the Main Lead guy. In this show, girl in 1 timeline likes someone else but later timeline girl will fall for Main Lead later too.

In SOOD, we followed the girl’s time jump thinking it was her story and her time loop, but we realise only towards the end, that it was the guy’s time loop and that he had the means to stop the looping.

I’m wondering if in this kdrama, there is a mutual time jump or a loop going on where the 2009 Sun Jae actually met T2 Im Sol in his past and has waited until 2009 to contact her.

So her 2023 self wants to save SJ, while it’s SJ’s 2009 self who wants to save Im Sol.

More of my ad hoc thoughts below. 🙂

  50. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

    Timelines or One Timeline?
For ease in referring to the same characters in different times, I’ve named the timelines like this:
    Timeline 2008 before time jump = T1
    Timeline 2008-2009 after time jump = T1.1

    Timeline 2023 after time jump = T2
    Timeline 2023 before time jump = Before-T2

Show begins on July 22nd, 2009 during a total Solar Eclipse, the first after 61 years. The boys’ band in which Sun Jae performs is called Eclipse.

The radio DJ mentions expecting something extraordinary to happen generally and hopes something miraculous to happen to herself and her listeners, as the sun gets swallowed up by the moon that is only 1/400th its size. There seems to be a belief that something sooooo bizarre seems to be able to call forth other bizarre events, and maybe even years down the road. In any case, as far as we viewers know at that stage, a connection was made between Im Sol and Sun Jae on that June 22nd during the solar eclipse.

Whether he already had a connection with her from the past is highly possible but not yet shown to us clearly. So the question is whether Sun Jae is just continuing his Timeline from T1, T1.1, Before-T2, T2 ie is he on a single timeline or does the Before-T2 SJ have different memories and really does not know Im Sol, as it appears on the bridge.

And with regard to the possible similarity to SOOD/A Time Called You… SJ could also be in a time loop with IS, repeating the years from age 19-34.

  51. @GB at some point IS has got to tell her mom to get out of the video/DVD business Just like in SOOD/ A Time Called You when FL told the Uncle to become a barista 😂.

I am really enjoying Shining For One Thing – the FL acting like an auntie/ajhumma when she is in the body of teenager is pretty funny. (Same in Lovely Runner). The lead is more craven/selfish than the Lovely Runner FL and fearless. It took about 3 episodes but now I think I’m hooked on this show too.

  52. Unnie,

That is so true! We can communicate with other ways too!

Also, I found out that the Lovely Runner, was a web novel first (2020) written by Kim Bbang and then became a Webtoon (2021) illustrated by the artist Doong Doong.

The chakkanim Lee Shi Eun who wrote the script is the one who wrote also “True Beauty”. Lastly, the drama has three directors, that have done some very good shows, as it is credited on MDL.

  53. @Growing Beautifully, that would be interesting – each one saving the other.

I was confused about the date of her original accident. Would it have been the same as the ending scenes of episode 2? It couldn’t have been unless she were in a coma for months, because Sun Jae hadn’t participated in the swimming competition and was already in a new boy band when she woke up. BTW, he seemed upset that she didn’t know who he was in the radio station phone call and now we understand why, because he was into her (possibly saved her life) but she was oblivious.

I’m wondering if SJ’s dad will be the ‘sports parent’ type who pushes too hard.

@Hat Lady, the original title ‘Runaway with Sun Jae on Piggyback’ must mean something important. People get carried piggy-back for various reasons, but if she still loses the use of her legs, he and she may ‘run away’ from their daily lives together.

  54. @Growing Beautifully – T1: I’m not sure that he didn’t know her on the bridge post-concert. He may have thought that she didn’t recall him, since she didn’t know his name or anything about him during the phone call years before. She rejected him so thoroughly back then because he didn’t mean anything to her at that point. As well, mentally he was in a bad place. Already he was in the mindset to give everything up, so even if he did know her, he wouldn’t want to make a connection.

But as well, as you said, the screenplay or director may be messing with our minds so we won’t know which timeline is happening in some scenes. But that will make me a bit cross.

  55. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

Bridge(s) and Crossing the Street Trope
Sun Jae and Im Sol meet on a long bridge twice at least… looks like the same bridge? They both seem to meet on the same end of the bridge rather than from opposite sides. A sweet image of the two people who would make a journey across time together.

In 2023, it’s snowing and he stops the car on the bridge to offer her an umbrella and a ride since her wheelchair’s battery has died. She was glad to be able to accept but her friend came to fetch her, so she gave SJ a jar of candies in exchange for the hand warmer.

In 2008, T1.1 Sun Jae meets T2 Im Sol crouching on the bridge, saying that they are both dead and that he should not cross the bridge but stay with her and not go over to the Underworld LOL. He runs for his life by taking a taxi.

    = = =

I’m a bit confused about why Im Sol has difficulty crossing the street. More than one time, she does not look left or right and almost gets hit by a car. Then instead of watching for traffic, she closes her eyes to count to five and then crosses… again without looking out for traffic.
What is that? Some kind of aberration or is it the trauma kicking in even before she has her accident? It becomes perfectly possible now that she became a cripple because of the way she crosses the street!

The last time she gets saved by Sun Jae who’s understandably upset that she just stood there waiting to be hit. Yes, I agree with comments above that it could have been Sun Jae who saved her from dying the time she had her accident.

I hope there’s more to this strange inability to cross safely than the trope of being pulled into the hero’s arms when he arrives to save her just in the nick of time.

  56. @GB, thank you for the timeline titles.

@Cleopatra, thank you for the links.

  57. @Growing Beautifully, I also wondered about the inability to cross. There was an earlier scene in T2 where she pulled back from crossing into traffic. In the ep. 2 ending crossing scene, in a flashback when she is in her uniform, she already had an injury to her cheek. I wonder what that was about?

The T2 crossing – I had the impression that she was devastated that her efforts to save SJ were in vain; he was furious with her for ‘stealing’ his swim shorts; he didn’t believe her and seemed to want her to leave him alone. She started into the street and stopped, then counted to get herself ready to cross regardless. Perhaps feeling that her return to T2 was futile, so she might as well not continue? That is my impression.

  58. @GB Unnie,

Seriously, aren’t you confused already? 😵

I would say Timeline #1 before the jump vs Timeline #2 after the jump, in order to make it more easier!

Although that Im Sol cannot say about the future because of the Cosmic Law / Balance etc, she can alter it piece by piece as we have seen in the epilogue of Episode 2. Hence the appearance of the photograph on the coffee table in the crime scene.

It is the Butterfly Effect but shown from a different angle.

As for Sun Jae, I bet he was heart broken that Im Sol didn’t remember him saving her in Timeline #1. So, he called her in the Hospital most likely to learn news from her, but she was so out of it that she yelled at everyone because of her misfortune, until SJ made her realize with his words the importance of being grateful to be alive. Even though, it broke her heart not to have her legs, her family was grateful that she was with them.

Now that Timeline #2 started altering Im Sol has two suitors, Sun Jae who was not even acknowledged in Timeline #1 and Kim Tae Sung who was Im Sol’s crush in Timeline #1, affecting both their future while we speak!

P.S. I am really happy that Song Geon Hee is playing on this one. I really like him from “Missing: The Other Side”.

  59. You are welcome @Fern! 🙂

  60. @Cleopatra, I thought it was so funny that Kim Tae Sung couldn’t care less about Im Sol when she was a teen crushing on him. But in her returned state with some cryptic statements about the future, a mature late 20s mindset and the ability to care for his wounds (like an aunty) even whilst thinking he was an egotistical player, she began to appeal to him. It’s like she shifted into becoming the cooler, tsundere person rather than him.

  61. A Bridge is something that connects two places. It could also connects two time frames. It can connect both of them and it did. We have Sun Jae from 2008 and Im Sol from 2023 in her 2008 body.

@GB Unnie, she has difficulty crossing the street because of her accident, that is ahead from her for some more days? I think her body is reacting going back in time and has to re-live the same thing twice.

It could also means that she is in crossroads herself in Timeline #2.

For me, the scene in Episode 2 was to reveal to the audience that Sun Jae was indeed her saviour when the accident happened in Timeline #1.

  62. @Fern,

Well Im Sol declared to the gang that she is a Noonim, aka Noona and she needs to be respected! LOL.

I agree with you that Tae Sung will be drawn to Im Sol this time around, because she seems to be a bid odd and more fun to be around. She is also wise and that is something he hasn’t encountered so far!

  63. @Cleopatra, you make a good point about the opening episodes when Im Sol is in the hospital speaking on the phone. How shocking and depressing to have someone you cherish- and possibly save from death – not recognise you and moreover not to be at all grateful to be alive. I thought that scene was really well done. But the effect may have imprinted on SJ’s brain from that moment onward.

  64. Yes, she has gained wisdom and that is intriguing to Tae Sung. 👍

  65. I wonder if Tae Sung will be the first of the 2009 characters to believe that she is really from the future?

  66. I can see this show is going to be another brain twister. I have watched both someday and oneday And shining for one thing, Both of them more than once. So I could see the strong similarities but not with clarity compared to the 2 shows.I just mentioned and the remake of someday one day As well.

@GB Thank you for putting into words. What I have only been Confusingly thinking about.

Two heads are better than one and in this case many heads are better than two!

I have been wondering for a while how to locate others on m.D l. I will take a look. I am also a friend of WEs.

It seems only the female lead is aware of going back to the past. I don’t think the male lead went back to the past. Which at first I thought he had because of the water scene.

there are infinite timeline possibilities And it will be interesting to see which ones we are presented with.

This show and nothing.Uncovered will be my agonizing weights/waits.

  67. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

@Good Twin, isn’t it great to have Shows that keep us hooked. I’d love to have several at a time, but I’ve to be more prudent!

@HK_Lady, yes I also noticed the title and the running and you reminded me that SJ’s fan club was named Take Sun Jae and Run LOL.

    Running
We see that not only Im Sol runs but Sun Jae does a lot of running too. There are 2 lovely runners or runners who are in love? I didn’t count the number of times that one or the other of them ran, but they each took turns to run to each other. Even her fan club name is ‘Take Sun Jae and Run’ LOL.

Even not being able to walk does not stop her. She runs to her job interview and back. Instead of calling her friend to pick her up, she heads for the bus stop by herself.

Anyway, the OTP’s running towards each other is so much better than other OTP’s (I shall not mention which) running away. In fact, even when Im Sol did not need to run, she still came forward to help Tae Sung (whom she failed to recognise at first as he was in T1.1 and she was from T2). She continues to keep coming forward to help, running to SJ’s school or training pool.

In 2023, upon hearing that SJ is dying, IS runs out presumably to get to the hospital where he was,but drops his watch into a shallow stream. As @Fern suggests, she might die of hypothermia crawling into the cold water to get the watch. But she kept crawling/running.

In 2008, SJ runs to her or goes forward to help her, even while telling her that she’s weird.

A couple other meanings of ‘runner’ could be a ‘contestant’ as in a runner for a competition, or it could be ‘messenger’ or ‘courier’ as in someone doing odd jobs or delivery person. This reminds me that SJ first seems to have met IS when he tried to deliver the box to her home.

The irony is that the important message that Im Sol wants to deliver to SJ, she is unable to get him to hear because of some great cosmic law or rule of time jumps that prevents her from relating the future to persons of the past.

I agree with @Cleo that this adds greater impact and fun to the plot and I like the Writer all the more for giving us this twist. Now IS has to be really creative to get her message across without hitting the law of time jumps. 😆

  68. I also wondered if her name Sol Is referencing the sun, Particularly in light of the eclipse metaphor.

  69. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

Thanks for all the links about the show @Cleo. I don’t often go to the source material to check how close the adapted drama is to the original format, but once in a way, I may want to find out something that the drama leaves obscure, so the source is useful. 🙂

  70. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

Hi @MM, isn’t it great that we have another time travel/time jump show to chat about? Maybe 2 years down the road, we’ll want to Rewatch this show as well! LOL.

Yes another brain twister and that’s the kind I like from time to time. I like light and fluffy when I’m tired or too busy and then brain twisters when I have some time and feel a bit bored.

I guess time travel shows must have some similarities here and there. They do try to be different but that is not possible in every way. Already the inability of IS to tell SJ of the future is a great twist and different from what we’ve seen so far.

You’re most welcome to my wild musings! I put those down to try and straighten things out in my own mind. @Cleo find my numbering too complicated and has simplified it. I find it easier in this case to start with more sub-numberings to see if there are fine differences in the logic between one time and another, and then if the sub-numbers don’t make sense, to start lumping them together later.

Yes many heads is where the fun is. I couldn’t figure out SOOD until I think it was @Oli gave me the answer!

You know my handle so send a friend request to me on MDL and I’ll Accept. There are times the BOD server malfunctions, and that’s when I send an MDL message to @WE to come up with Plan B for our Rewatches!

Yes, as far as we can tell, only IS seems to know about the time jump and the watch. I find it interesting that the watch now exists in 2 timelines as 2 different watches. WHICH leads me to question if there is more than one Im Sol now!!! Hmmmmm. 🤨🧐🤔

However, for all we know, SJ himself may also at some stage have found out about the time jump. However for him, it may be that he only wants to move forward in time if he cannot find IS in his current time. As long as he knows the next 15 years she’ll be alive, he may be satisfied, and not try to time jump. What the future holds beyond their age 34, is unknown.

So yes, as you say there are infinite timeline possibilities, and that’s the way I like my Shows! 😉

  71. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

@Fern, I believe you’re right about SJ knowing IS and deliberately seeking her out in 2023.

Before-T2 Sun Jae might actually be Sun Jae who had met T2 Im Sol.

Before-T2 Im Sol answers his call and claims she does not know him when he tells her his name. She claims she does not know the group Eclipse. This sounds true. She only gained the desire to live because of what SJ says to her in this phone call.

He continues to speak with her as if he knows her and is glad that he got to speak with her while she was still alive: “Thank you … for being alive. It’s a good thing that you’re alive. The ones by your side will thank you for that. So … stay alive today … because it’s nice outside. I hear it’s going to rain tomorrow. Then wait until the rain stops … and stay alive. Then someday a day might come when living doesn’t feel so bad.” Based on this, I believe Sun Jae in 2009 is T1.1 Sun Jae who met ‘adult’ Im Sol in 2008.

Im Sol cries and the next song announced on the radio would be “Rain Shower” LOL. The next couple of times when she meets him in 2008 as T2 IS, she again cries because he’s alive.

I’m guessing that Sun Jae remained on his timeline whether it became T1.1 or T2. After he met IS, he started liking her, although he did not let on about it for some time. In the true kdrama tradition, his young/first or great love will be his only love for all timelines.

  72. Does anyone know the music that plays to suggest distance from each other. There are small Snippets Of this music with animation. I have this music on one of my playlists.Or maybe it is familiar because I have been listening to the soundtrack to this show.

  73. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

@Cleo @Fern, I forgot to add that I agree Tae Sung did not care for the diffident 19-year-old T1 Im Sol who shyly gave him a gift and could barely meet his eyes.

He must have been surprised and very struck by the bold and confident T2 Im Sol who is actually a mature 34-year-old. She’s definitely more attractive.

In contrast, we see that SJ liked T1 IS when she was fangirling Tae Sung. When she changed from being indifferent towards him to hugging him after the trial competition, he must have been shocked. He may have pretended not to know her, but we find that over and over again, he never entirely ignores her.

  74. I don’t have time to scroll back to see who was looking for Who is also watching Shining 41 thing. I am interested. I tried to rewatch recently but could not get into it.Maybe because i’ve already watched it a few times. Watching with someone else Though would interest me.

  75. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

@MM, I don’t know the music, however for 2 songs, I transcribed the lyrics because they are so totally written for this Show and for this couple.

The first song is the one SJ sang solo while playing the piano. He said it was their debut song that had not been sung live for a long time. It was interestingly not on the set list of songs for the concert. I wonder if that means he asked to sing it, knowing that IS would be listening to it?

The Concert Name: First Encounter and Eclipse – I noted this because to IS, this was her first time seeing or hearing SJ in the flesh. She never recalled meeting him before, even as the delivery ahjusshi. So when they met in 2023, it was really the first encounter for her. However that was not the case for SJ.

It’s something to note that after having been ‘saved’ by SJ, he eclipsed Tae Sung and any other idols in IS’s heart. She tells him that she was his fan from his debut and never strayed.

Lyrics of the debut song that Sun Jae sang
I wished it would never end
The day you first came to me
I hoped it wouldn’t just be a quick drizzle
That was what I wished for, so deeply

Do you know how I feel?
I’ve been thinking only of you every day
You bleed into my thoughts once again today

You are a gift from the heavens
When you’re alone in this world, I’ll protect you
You came into my life like a sudden summer rain shower
But I call your name today
    Someone precious to me

Outside the concert venue, it snows. IS listens to the song and tears up. So many allusions to rain!!

IS seems to know that SJ likes snow. He was out on the balcony of his hotel room, watching the snow fall when his doorbell rang. Liking snow somehow makes it a little less likely that he committed suicide.

  76. @GB I have sent you a friend request on m d l. My handle, there is the name of a first generation K-Pop group Whose leader is a s***y Idol Well known as an actor as well.

  77. I notice a couple of close-ups that seem deliberate. In episode 1, there’s a close-up of the band’s car’s number plate 1.13. We aren’t shown the number plate of the black car later used by SJ.
There is a close up of Im Sol’s mother’s scarred hand 7.59 and 8.14.

There are 3 umbrellas so far: the SJ’s bright blue umbrella, IS’s yellow umbrella in SJ’s flashback and SJ’s black umbrella when they meet after the concert on the bridge. I think the colours are representative of their emotions or symbolic of their personalities at times in their lives.

Watching the bridge scene over again, I’m not convinced yet that SJ knew T2 IS, but I do think he knew her from his unrequited crush on her in T1. When she said she wanted to thank him, he looked expectant, but she neither mentioned his phone call nor their school days. Instead she said she wanted to thank him for existing – that all of his fans thought like that. SJ’s facial expression seemed to shrink back a bit as though he was disappointed but trying to hide it. He didn’t mention their shared past for his own reasons.

  78. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

@MM, I saw your request, accepted it and sent you a message!

    Wet, wet, wet and Umbrellas
Water and Umbrella trope – There’s a lot of rain and water. The poor actors have to get wet so often or stay wet for the length of the shoot.

In the umbrella trope, the one who shelters the other is usually going to be the one who cares for the other. Here we see that both boy and girl have opportunities to shelter the other – a mutual caring? SJ had saved IS from giving up on living, and she was bent on saving him from the same.

Umbrella count: 3 (black, blue, yellow umbrellas)

At the end of Episode 1, T2 IS runs to school and sees SJ. She smiles but then is soon in tears, knowing what awaits him. It rains and he shelters her with his blue umbrella. He sees that she’s crying (again) and asks why.

Lyrics of the Episode End OST
Wherever I go, there it is
A black cloud of my own (This speaks into the fact that both of them at one time wanted to give up/retire. We hear that SJ had depression and insomnia.)

I close the window and close my eyes
But a cold drop of water soon wakes me up
Suddenly, there’s a puddle around my ankles
The tears I held back well up in my eyes

You are the umbrella above my head
Cold rain coming down on my shoulders tonight
I’m too used to having you around
    I can’t be without you

Alone in the rain (SJ approaches IS with the blue umbrella)
You are not by my side (He shelters her)
You used to be outside my window with an umbrella
You used to wait for me, I cry (He asks her why she’s crying. We flashback to when he sheltered her with his black umbrella. He had asked “Why are you crying? I didn’t make you cry, did I?” In 2023 those were tears of joy at seeing SJ in the flesh.

In 2008, her first tears were of relief, but I’m thinking these tears at the end of Episode 1 are of pathos and worry, because she knows what will happen if she cannot get him to change his trajectory.)

You are the umbrella above my head
Cold rain coming down on my shoulders tonight
I’m too used to having you around (This is a hint that they did become close some time after 2008)
    I can’t be without you

I need you back in my life

You are the umbrella above my head
Cold rain coming down on my shoulders tonight
Without you, my world is broken in half (We see SJ’s hands comparing 2 watches)
You can’t be without me (Once again there’s a mutuality. Neither can be without the other. I’m all for non-one-sided relationships, where both parties give, run and shelter each other.)

  79. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

@Fern, thanks for mentioning the close-up camerawork. Yes, we are meant to notice some things and to link these with other elements yet to be shown to us.

Oh good! You noticed a ’13’ in the car number plate that I missed … I noticed that in the Jagam Boys’ High School Yearbook, SJ was in the 13th class!! Ill-omened?

Yes, there was more than 1 close-up of the scarred hand. I guess she may have been in the accident with IM, or separately there might have been a fire.

Hi-5! We both noticed the 3 umbrellas, but I didn’t think to associate their colours to their emotional state. They do seem appropriate so far.

I agree that the 2023 bridge scene does not make it clear if SJ knew T2 IS, and that he probably remembered her as his crush in T1. My notes below…

IS: “I’ve been a fan since your debut, actually. I’ve never strayed.”
    SJ: “Thank you.”
IS speaks more to herself than to SJ: “I should be the one thanking you. [She thinks: ‘You made me want to live again’.]

IS continues: “For everything. I’m grateful for everything. For your existing in this world. All your fans feel that way.”

A strange look passes across SJ’s face at these words. Either he does not want to exist in the world or he is maybe disappointed that she speaks on behalf of all fans when it’s her opinion that matters to him?

I agree with you @Fern, that it could likely be disappointment that she did not mention his phone call. Now that I think of it again, I wonder why she didn’t want to tell him that his words really made her want to live. Perhaps she didn’t want him to also remember how she’d ranted into the phone and thrown it.

I’m also intrigued about why SJ would not just befriend IS openly when they were both adults. Why not tell her that he knew they’d been in neighbouring schools, that he’d been a delivery boy coming to her home? Before his depression, he had not tried looking for her. Now at the point of retiring, he would likely not want to contact any fans and cause their dismay.

  80. Just a few other things from episode 1:

I also think that Im Sol’s mother knows the identity of the person who rescued IS from the accident but she is unwilling to tell her, so says she doesn’t. (Who would forget something like that?) Perhaps she was asked to say nothing? Ep. 1 33.30.

The actual Olympic swimmer Park Tae Hwan shows up in the secret competition in episode 1. He chuckles at Im Sol’s declarations.

The calendar on the day Im Sol wakes up in the past reads June 2008 and she realises that this is before the accident.

Sun Jae’s sky blue umbrella, as seen from above in 101.51 was the only colourful one in a field of white or grey umbrellas.

  81. @GB, the 1.13 was the time stamp, not the car number plate. Sorry for misleading you! The car’s plates read 70 (Hangul symbol) 5896.

Also, I don’t think he wasn’t a delivery boy. He and his father had moved into the house across from hers according to IS’s mother in T1.1 (episode 2). In his recollections of their first meeting (yellow umbrella scene) at the end of ep. 2 he just found her package by his gate and the house number was slightly different from his. Since he was dressed in a jacket and baseball cap, I think she assumed he was a delivery man and called him Ahjussi. That was when she was in T1 and before this point in the middle of the street. By then she was now in her T1.1 but of course he won’t know that as he’s just continuing in his normal world. I think. 🤪🤷‍♀️

  82. So happy to connect with @GB and @Cleo in MDL! Thank you! It’s great to have alternate ways of communicating.

Wow so many write ups and posts to wake up to! Time travel shows keep us on our toes for sure. Will read and rewatch… we have some time until the next episodes.

  83. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

@Fern, right you are! I just rewatched Episode 2 and realised that he’d moved into house 35-1 and found that the package was meant for 34-1. They were actually neighbours! They had opportunities to meet and befriend each other. From the photo, we believe that they did.

In T1, IS does not realise that SJ is her neighbour, however as T2 IS, she finds this out for sure from her mother.

Yes, I’m sure that her mum knows very well who saved IS, but a mystery surrounds why she will not tell IS. Similarly, if SJ had saved her or anyone else, it’s a mystery why they would not tell her, unless being her saviour also implicated them in some way.

  84. @Monmor I am watching Shining For Just One Thing – I am enjoying it so far. It is similar to time slip dramas mentioned – all with the theme of going back in time and trying to save the life of a character. I feel like the ML in Shining may be in a time slip too – it’s not clear yet to me. I like that I can binge it.

And yes regarding her name – for me I hear/translate Im Sol as “of the sun”. Actually, both characters have the words sun in their names, but I think she really embodies the sunshine in his life, even the yellow when she mistakes him for the delivery driver. Lastly – I’m finding it hard to believe that a teen girl who was interested in boys ignored Tall Dreamy – but ok.

  85. @Good Twin, I think she was blinded by her crush on Tae Sung up until the point when she returned. 😍💓💞💕

Realistically, her high school was all girls and the boys were at the boys’ school just opposite. Convenient, but they wouldn’t have been passing each other in the hallways and sitting in classes together. 😊

  86. @Goodtwin. Yes it had just dawned on me that they both have the name sun. I am rewatching episode one and there are so many clues. That he already knew her. Also many references To the sun and the color yellow. I think maybe it was sunflowers in the vase that shattered by her bed in the hospital. Or at least flowers that look a lot like sunflowers a kind of daisy.

I think we are being set up for a story where they will rescue each other Even though the more apparent story line is her rescuing him.

It is interesting that the light on the watch goes out.It seems before he actually dies. I am going with the idea that he had taken His prescription drugs perhaps with the idea of taking his own life. How he fell off.The porch is open to discovery. When she falls into the river and after his death has been announced by the doctor, The watch goes back to a number of zeros but there is a three there as well. Then she ends up in the classroom in the past, After She sees the announcement on the big screen.

I am thinking about this in detail.Because the sequence of events and the detail maybe part of the plot as we progress in the story.

  87. @Monmor reading your last post – light bulb! This is Marry My Husband in high school. We know he died and there is an open question whether she did as well in the water of the river in the middle of winter or, as suggested by @Janey or @Fern above, she could be in a coma as well. He seems pretty clueless so I don’t think he is himself in a time slip – but we will see where it all leads. That is the nice thing about these dramas once you let go of the law of physics anything can happen!

I am wondering if there is a potential romance between ML Dad and FL Mom? Dad mentioned a wife but I wonder if they’re divorced or she died. FL doesn’t seem to have a father although we don’t know the story behind that yet. Where would Disney movies and kdramas be without orphans?

  88. On the issue of accessibility. She does not have a ticket- Both literally and figuratively- to so many life Events that Most of us take for granted.

There is a line early in the show about how the very small moon can obscure the Many times larger sun. This is scientifically a matter of perspective And in our Narrative perhaps symbolic of psychological perspectives Of the characters And the viewers Perspectives Which I think will be challenged, Actually are already being challenged..

  89. For my understanding Of this story right now, I am going with the notion that he did not know who he was calling on the radio show. My understanding is that they were calling listeners randomly to see if they knew about this new band.

I wonder if it was clear to him who she Was when he stopped his Van on the bridge in the snowstorm in the present. The image of the candy jar was fleeting As though only a vague memory.

  90. I am chuckling at all the perspectives. We are presented with in the scene where he encounters her on the bridge in the past. At first she thinks she is dead because she can see him and thinks he is a ghost because she knows he died. Then courtesy of the shaman and hotel del luna She thinks they are In the underworld and taking the bridges to their end destination. Then She gets a phone call from her mother.Who is going to send her to hell because she missed class. And another perspective, Sunjae thinks she is suggesting they live together. That’s when he decides this is too much and He leaves in a taxi.

It is interesting watching it the first time where we think. He does not like her and then. After the reveal we can see all the ways he does like her.

  91. The settings on the watch. She gives him back in the scene above on the bridge Has the same readings as it did in the river.

  92. Ooh I just got the shivers down my spine At the thought that sunjae may have contributed to her spinal injury Somehow during the accident.

  93. At all. I just more carefully read the above comments that I had not read before my comments.

@GB I wondered too why he had not tried to contact her Otherwise In the present time line. Makes me think he only has a vague recollection of her. Perhaps a vague recollection of another timelime. As we have seen in the time travel Dramas we have rewatched.

I had thought his reaction to her on the bridge in the snowstorm. Was because he was contemplating suicide, not because he was disappointed. She did not know him.

Following through from an earlier thought, Perhaps he did save her life but does not know she ended up in the wheelchair.

I think it is of note that the date he dies is the last day of the year. There was a similar time frame in the drama nine times nine. Also the idea of a new year.

I have the thought that his life is in her hands or on her wrist anyway. Is there going to be some significance to the number three?

It felt Voyeuristic To see CPR being performed On sun jae In an online video that someone had broadcast. No privacy even in death. I found the scene where she is in the river And sees the large screen announcing his death very moving

The watch is the obvious item that connects them in their time travel. I also wonder if his giving her the hand warmer And her giving him the candy. Also strengthened the connection And facilitated The time travel. Another connection is by phone which we have seen in other time travel dramas.

They have thanked each other for existing. So another element of mutuality. The story will move towards them both illuminating each other’s hearts or souls.

What is the significance of the wedding face paint in the scene with the grandmother?

  94. @GoodTwin Maybe her mother and his father colluded. In some way to hide the specifics of what happened in the accident.

  95. @monmor, I had wondered about the traditional face painting as well. The grandmother seemed to be suffering from dementia and didn’t know her grand-daughter’s name, yet it must have been included for some reason. Perhaps it’s to indicate that at some level she wants to see her grand daughter get married? I can only guess at this point.

  96. Has anyone else noticed how long it takes for someone’s hair to get wet when it is raining in k dramas. I think the rain must be a special effect? Also the snowflakes don’t melt very quickly on people’s clothes either.

  97. The song that keeps playing every time. She does something that distances sunjae In episode two is by the group “brown eyes”. It might be called little by little but I am not sure.

  98. It is the same song that plays for a while during the ending segment of episode two. The lyrics are then more about love.

  99. @Goodtwin I am interested in rewatching shining for one thing. I gave it a 9 when I watched it originally and 9 is the highest.I give and not very often.

  100. In Shining for One Thing one of the characters wants to have a career in “cross talk.” I thought this meant he wanted to be a talking head or a journalist, but some of the dialogue didn’t make sense for being a journalist. Well I looked it up and cross talk is a very popular form of Chinese stand up comedy. It appears to involve the story teller and a straight man. So interesting. I love learning new things like this. https://youtu.be/UPCSHj1cadE

  101. @GB I have just been reading and thinking about the timelines. Let me put it in my own words and please give me feedback if you see it differently. When he phones her from the radio studio, They could both still be in timeline one and there may well be some mystery around the accident. She may not remember him because she had never noticed him And may not have been told the truth about the accident- that he played a role In rescuing her. So I can believe he was hurt that she did not remember him.

When they meet on the bridge in 2023, He may be in timeline 2 while she is still in time.Line one before going back.

Oh I still cannot make it make sense!🤔

  102. @good twin. You are reminding me how interested I was when I learned about cross talk. I couldn’t quite grasp how one would do it though.

  103. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

@Fern, @Good Twin, I went back to see if Tae Sung wore a uniform. I didn’t manage to tell where he’s from, only that he fought with people from other schools. However he took part in the Jagam High School Festival, so I guess he belongs to SJ’s school too, but somehow SJ didn’t know him.

I like the added dimension in this Show that portrays our new perspectives as adults over what concerned us so much in our teenage years. IS tells her friend Hyun Joo that she should eat as much as she likes because she’d lose weight later. She’s shocked at the cringey love note she had written to Tae Sung and wishes that she’d returned to the past just a day earlier, so that she’d never have confessed to him.

This is a good message to reach young people. The gift of hindsight in those who are older might not be well received in advice but might be better accepted from a drama!

  104. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

Hi @MM, it’s challenging to sort out who is when, isn’t it?

More simply, I follow through from a person’s trajectory. IS wouldn’t be happy and alive (most possibly) if not for the phone call from SJ. Therefore, with IS from 2009-2023, I’d consider her T2 IM.

SJ seems to give us hints that he’s aware of T2 IM in 2009.
However he does not seem to give the same hints in 2023.
So my question remains… since there can be 2 watches which are the same watch, can there be two SJs?

Now that’s something to discuss and ruminate upon!!!

  105. So maybe more clarity. When they meet on the bridge in2023 She may still be In timeline one while he is In timeline 1.1. She has not yet gone back and created the beginning of timeline 1.1 For herself but for him it has already happened.

I guess this is all conjecture, but the more conjecture there is, the more hypotheses. We have to look out for evidence for.

I guess my enthusiasm for this genre is Is pretty evident. Other shows that are similar are” legally romance” and to some extent “Lost romance” In addition to those already mentioned.

@GB What fun to have another time?Travel show to watch and maybe rewatch in a couple of years or so! I am very excited for this show and I hope The show will Live up to its promise.

  106. @GB I think our last two messages crossed in transit.

So the two watches may well be another twist on time travel rules. Now her watch Has the settings at mostly 0?While I think his is telling time properly. Maybe we.
Will see his change when he time travels.

  107. @GB After SOOD we will never be able to see time Travel As Relatively straight forward time lines. I think that is what you are getting at is it not?

  108. Me just reading all the comments posted on here.

@ the accidental thought on “two SJs”

For a sec I thought the person or “man” who knocked her phone out of her hand after the concert was him. Then the next scene showed him going into the dressing room not dress in all black like the man outside the venue so I brushed it off but I genuinely thought that was him.

  109. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

Hi @Ysmac, welcome to BOD if you haven’t been commenting before.

What an interesting thought! I need to rewatch that. 🙂

  110. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

Hi @MM, I’ve got a longer reply on the points you brought up, but before posting that, I found the OSTs sung by our ML. His voice is quite impressive, considering he’s not touted as a singer, but as a model and actor.

I believe I really like the song “Sudden Shower”. I have not found the other piece that you mentioned, but in the meantime hope you and EVERYONE enjoy!

  111. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

    @MM you said:

When they meet on the bridge in2023 She may still be In timeline one while he is In timeline 1.1. She has not yet gone back and created the beginning of timeline 1.1 For herself but for him it has already happened.

Yes, I believe this is what the Show is portraying.

The reason we are a bit iffy about things is that we don’t know if there is 1 SJ who is on 1 trajectory from T1 that goes on into the future in a single timeline. Or if there is a loop in which there is a T3 SJ or T4 SJ.

If there is only 1 SJ, then he has gone from T1 to T1.1 and when he enters 2023 and if he survives, then he will also be in T2 like IS.

However because when he ‘dies,’ the watch starts acting abnormally, we start to question if he died or looped back in time. Yes, we need to be eagle-eyed to notice more evidence as to who met T2 IS and was changed by this.

I wonder about IS’s mum and why she’s not saying whom saved IS. It might be because she knows it’s someone from the past or future who came to save IS.

I’m enthusiastic about time travel too! I haven’t watched those other shows mentioned, but perhaps I will. Just not now. My brain is getting fried as it is with this Show and “Nine: 9”!!!

Yes the twist of the 2 watches that can exist side by side. This is different from the incense sticks in Nine: 9. When the incense was in another timeline, it disappeared from the current one. Yes her watch is not telling her the right time. I was watching the part where she decided she must not press the button again or she might not be able to return to 2008.

What SOOD revealed is that we can be befuddled into thinking 1 thing about the time travel when there’s really something else that’s happening!!!

I did also think of whether there were similarities with Marry My Husband, but somehow I find the set up different. In MMH the FL was out to save herself and the ML seems to have time jumped because of her dad and his sole purpose was to save FL. I like Lovely Runner’s set up better. It looks like both guy and girl are meant to save each other. The question is whether they have a real future past 2023!!!

  112. @GB I am cogitating🤔

  113. My speculations for the next episode:

    1. a sweet romance in timeline 1.1

    2. back to timeline 1 where we see what originally happened or a portion of that

    3. jump to the future and the sequelae of his suicide/murder

    4. other

  114. @GB I am confused by what you mean when you say the Sunjae will be in time T2 if he survives into 2023?

  115. Maybe we will get more than 2 watches??!!

do not read if speculation is like spoilers for you.

In SOOD there were bodies of the main male character left in different timelines which enabled the time looping. OOOOH! maybe sunjae died in timeline 1 which is why her mother never tells her who rescued her.

  116. I am thinking he wrote the love ballad for her after his experience with her in timeline
    1.1.

  117. My god ! The thread is having a riot ! I love you gals and your genius!

    My two pence

    1. I don’t think there’ll be double time travel (ML and FL through multiple loops) simply because it’ll be too complex for most of the audience to understand. That said, there could be more than one timelines because in “first look”/”preview” the FL days, “no matter how many times, I’ll jump over all of it to come to you.”

She might have to search for the correct time loop.

    2. In the original webtoon, the second season hasn’t come through (only 40 ep season 1/3) but, the idea is that time travel isn’t “free” for IS like in MMH. She pays a price and a consequence for it.

The original IS left in T1.1 after time traveller Im Sol goes away is extremely confused and in pain. She doesn’t remember Sun Jae at all and he’s heartbroken because he doesn’t know that the one who loved him was from the future.

The webtoon S1 ends with a realisation for Im Sol – she returns to a live but heartbroken Sun Jae who has endlessly waited for 15 years for her. He has always watched her from far away… Never approaching but never forgetting. I’m afraid this has reference in preview when a Sun Jae clad in all black is quietly watching the automatic lights go on in Im Sol’s apartment lobby as she wheels to watch his concert. He sings for her. He always has. Thus, the SJ in original timeline is the one whom IS has loved in the past. He has only one timeline and he had already met time travelling IS in ep 1. IS on the other hand has multiple timelines.

The webtoon S1 ends with a sobbing Im Sol apologizing again and again to Sun Jae. This also could be the preview line where FL is repeating sorry in Korean.

  118. @Arihsi,

This is a heartbreaking plot for the Webtoon… 🫤

Imagine to love someone who does not remember you… 🥺

Sun Jae is broken inside indeed.

  119. Contd with non-drama spoilers

    3. In the original webtoon, there is no murder. He doesn’t exactly commit suicide but mistakenly overdoses on two meds because he’s so out of it.

The detailed description of the show mentions that the adult Sun jae, the “brightest star amongst all in showbiz” is utterly exhausted. There are medications that could suppress breathing/induce coma when used in combination/used in overdose. They close-up on lots of different pills in ep 1. It’s hard to miss and surely big trouble. My suspicion is, he fell inadvertently. He wasn’t pushed.

There is a clip in ep 1 pre and post the concert where he is unable to stand straight or appear very alert. He is shown as just looking incredibly tired. One could say they were demonstrating physical signs of his severe depression.

I’d be extremely surprised if this is a murder. It’s not a deliberate suicide either.

The photo that appears on his table end of ep 2 is a FIFTEEN year old pic at that time ! Did he have no recent photos? Nope ! He met the future Im Sol in his past who then forgot him because she had to return to her original timeline. He is still waiting 💔

  120. One hundred percent heartbreaking @Cleo… But I have better hopes from the drama. For one, she TELLS him that she’s time travelled in the preview. This doesn’t happen in the webtoon. Communication communication communication as we say. So even though he thinks she’s crazy in T2, when his heart breaks, he’ll suspect something is amiss. But he could still be waiting for her. 15 years is a long arse time to wait.

    2. She begs him to stay alive for just one more day multiple times in the preview. “Just wait for one more day, Sun Jae – ya. I’ll save you, I’ll come to you.”

This makes me think of a Keanu Reeves movie , “The Lake House”. He waits for her so gives death a miss. She finds him. Love. Happiness.

This “wait for just one more day” wouldn’t work if it’s a murder. She needs Sun Jae to hold on.

  121. @Arihsi and @Cleopatra, small wonder that he looked disappointed that T2 IS whom he met on the bridge thanked him as any of his fans would. I thought he would feel that way a bit if he remembered her from school in a casual way and also from calling her, but this magnifies it.

How confusing it must have been to have known her as both her T1 and T1.1 incarnations.

  122. Exactly @Fern. The odd shot of candies that @monmor noticed in his hand in ep 1 is also because of this. It’s not just that she was his crush and she gave him some two candies and he liked them all his life. He was loved by her, protected by her and then she suddenly disappeared. She was replaced by someone who didn’t remember him. It’s not amnesia. She really doesn’t remember him ! She’s never loved him that way either!

Thus, the close up of candies when he dies in T1. A close up of candies+ a fifteen year old photo in T1.1.

    What a heartbreak.

  123. There are multiple movies with a climax of “Running” to save one’s love. As @GB notes, both leads are “running” to save each other. But if the title and the ML’s choice of dramas are to be considered…

I think it’ll be Im Sol against the clock. Instead of a murderer, it’d be crazy if that incessant doorbell is Im Sol from T2 breathless with all the running…trying to get to Sun Jae in time.

Anyone would suspect a murderer. But it’d be a blast if that’s Im Sol.

  124. @Fern and @Arihsi,

Now we have hindsight and not just mere theories, the Webtoon’s plot is really a tragedy.

To be broken hearted for 15 years and to love someone who doesn’t remember you at all…

And thus, it is giving an different dimension to time travel and time loops.

I still remember that specific scene in TKEM, where Lee Gon came with flower to see Jeong Tae Eul and you know if you have seen what had happened… 🥺😥

  125. @Arihsi, cleopatra and Fern

I also do not think he was murdered. I can’t remember now if there is alcohol on that table. But if he took his medications with alcohol that would certainly have Endangered his life and perhaps he fell off The balcony Already in a dazed state. He may have had some intention to Commit suicide.

I also agree that time looping is very confusing for the audience. There is enough story here
To have a few time lines without having to make it more complicated.

But what happened to the original Sun jae If the one we are seeing is the one who had met the adult female lead in the past.

So far some of the lyrics I have listened to really match with the ideas That you have presented in the above comments.

  126. Lastly… I don’t think she went to time travel because she loved him romantically. She went without a choice and later on made it a mission of sorts to save him. As early as Ep 2, she is quoted, “How do I do this? It won’t be easy to convince a 19 year old.”. She also says advises her first crush and talks in third person like, “he was crazy about swimming back then” He’s 19. She’s 34 looking like a 19 year old. She ain’t there to love him exactly. She’s there to stick to him and somehow be there to catch him when he takes the fall. To quote her own self, “I’d have to do this for 15 years ?”

  127. @Arihsi,

We shall see how they will differentiate the Drama from the Webtoon. At least now, we have an idea of what happened…

    We shall see…

  128. @monmor you remember it correctly. There is a very clear close up of an open flask of alcohol, lots of different medications and spilled pills… As if he took a bunch of them together. This fits the webtoon. There, he clearly had diagnosed depression and anxiety just like the drama. It was just that he didn’t plan his own death. It sort of happened as a consequence of medication overdose, alcohol etc.

  129. @cleo… Definitely. Also please note that the webtoon doesn’t have an end. That’s why I discussed it so openly. It has just 40 ep and only one out of THREE planned seasons.

So even webtoon readers don’t know what eventually happens. The original novel I believe is not available in English.

The drama writer has all the creative freedom here I suppose. Just like MMH. The webtoon was different from the webnovel and the drama differed from both in finer details.

  130. I’m interested to find out what happened with IS’s original accident. Who saved her; were there other casualties?

In another forum someone thought that the mother didn’t mention the person who saved her because that person may have perished in the attempt. That would make sense from a mother’s protective point of view. Her daughter had overcome depression and finding that out might trigger it again.

  131. @Arihsi, Oh, I hope you are right about who is at the hotel room door. Unimaginatively I was just thinking it was the band manager or the other man who tried to fight with SJ after the concert – Same one who stole his swimsuit in 2008 I think? But if it were Im Sol at the door and she was able to stop him, that would be a bonus.

  132. I suspect some foul play based on her injuries when she was hit and the preview. The webtoon can offer no information here because the Im Sol of webtoon walks / has never been in an accident. (See @cleo ? Such a huge difference!)

In the 5 minute preview @fern, IS is being FOLLOWED by a cab type car and later the same car hits her. She didn’t just get hit. She was deliberately hit is my presumption. I really don’t think Sun Jae had shoulder issues because of IS accident. Right from ep 1, his shoulder is not doing well. Much like mine 🤣

His sling reminded me of my college days (also 15 years back ha ha). I had a fantastic time getting everyone to lift books, assignments etc for me for some 3-4 weeks… Bad shoulders remain bad I’m afraid. Hashtag forward time travelling experience.

  133. @Fern. I am thinking that the original sanjay died trying to save her in the original timeline.

  134. One last thing, but perhaps it’s irrelevant: Im Sol had some source of money. The high price of the auctioned watch, the nice clothing, nice apartment and very expensive looking electric wheel chair – how can the household including a single mother supporting her elderly senile mother and a disabled daughter afford those things? Or did Im Sol already have a job but was looking for another? I’ll have to have a look.

  135. @Monmor, the person whose comment I read thought perhaps it was Kim Tae Sung who died because he’s not in the 2023 time but the other male leads are. I guess we’ll see.

  136. Can someone help me out here? Which characters from the original time line are Still in 2022?/ Not her family or friend but other characters

  137. @Fern. She was freelancing doing video editing.I think but that would not bring in enough money to make her well to do. We see her doing that at the very beginning of episode 1 I think it is.

  138. Disclaimer- I am not sure how involved I can be in this discussion but I started to watch this for the FL (loved her in Extraordinary You and in this similar genre type drama she doesn’t disappoint 🙂). Hopefully I will be able to watch right through and not bail midway again due to my interest flagging.

Lots of references to the Moon. 🌒 Jang ManWol (Hotel DeLuna) is mentioned in passing whilst IS does her job (?) on the laptop – death bridge references…

Eclipse – where time seemingly “stops”. Is it day or is it night? Mirrored by the gloom in IS in hospital contemplating the final “darkness” (death) in spite of the lovely weather…whilst SJ is euphoric against the possibility of failure (darkness) during their debut (where it appeared that nobody seemed to care or know who the boy band was). The scenario is flipped in 2023 where SJ is in the spotlights amidst all the glare of celebrity whilst his mood is dark. IS is experiencing all the “bad luck” thrust in her face with the job rejection, lost ticket, missed the concert etc…yet her mood is gloriously bright. His name is SUN Jae 😂. Also the time swaps is disconcerting for us the viewer. Mimicking our confusion whenever an eclipse happens.

I agree about the timelines. The quirk is that you can be the “master of your own destiny” and change your choices and emotions BUT you cannot give those around you hints as to their futures. They can however alter their choices based on your actions/emotions – I think 🤔 . Eg IS can alter her “bias” from TaeSung to SJ when she goes back in time. She can hug her grandma more because she knows of her plight in the future. I guess it’s implying that what you do or don’t do in the present affects the future of those around you? I am not sure if this applies to IS’s accident. Can she choose NOT to cross the road? I am guessing it’s got something to do with that because she seems to be a repeat offender when it comes to road crossings in her past life so I get the feeling she can’t stop that from happening?

    Other things I have noticed.
    1. I think the watch is what allows them to time travel. IS has one and so has SJ. It flashes when time changes?

    2. There’s also a lot of references to dreams. As soon as IS reminisces in her room (whilst she’s looking at the mementoes and the watch in the box), “it all feels like a dream”, the watch flashes.

    3. The watch runs to 3am when IS is in the drain (?) and she looks up to see the screen in the distance announcing SJ’s death…although the death pronouncement is midnight. A difference of 3 hours. She wakes up in the past. 3am is often referred to as “witching” hour where peak supernatural activity is supposed to happen. Also it takes about 2.5-3hrs (?) from start to finish for a solar eclipse (that’s what Google says 😂). Although the sun will only be totally eclipsed for about 4min. Could be coincidence but that may be something to consider.

    Stuff I laughed at
    1. The fan girling by IS is on point 😂. When she looks at his chest reveal in a photo trying to convince herself it’s not her fault that she’s zooming in on that part of his anatomy 😂. She had ample time to ogle when she was back at the pool but obviously her frame of mind was different then.

    2. The dots painted on her face by grandma signifying she’s literally “married” to her bias. 😂😂

  139. Thanks, @Monmor. I shouldn’t have been lazy and should have reviewed it. She might make enough for her own expenses even if she’s working from home.

  140. @nrllee, Hello and thank goodness you are here. It’s great to hear from you. Thanks for your observations.

Hoping that you are well and enjoying what life throws at you.

  141. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

@Cleo, @MM, et al… Wow, my screen showed just some of the comments yesterday, and I didn’t realise that there were many more posts which I somehow did not receive. I realise that I’ve been repeating what you’ve already said. My apologies.

I’ll read all the stuff that I missed before I post more. I see some of my notes overlap here and there. We certainly notice lots of similar stuff now after commenting together over several shows. The fun is in how we interpret what we see!!!

  142. @fern It is way easier for me to type a few words than it is for you to go through the episodes again.

  143. Someone much earlier in this conversation.Mention the scene under the medieval arch where the two of them are uncomfortable with each other. There is a very similar scene in I think the movie “the classic” with son yejin from the early 2000s. Might even be the same arch.

@nrllee Thank you for your numerous helpful observations.

  144. Unnie,

Kalimera. Don’t worry. We are several active on this drama, so everyone is sharing their thoughts at the same time! I think it is refreshing!

  145. @Arihsi,

I think the chakkanim will deviate sligtly from the Webtoon. They may have talked together about the written material, since this is a Work in Progress.

At least, we have a starting point, we know some facts and now we can proceed with our conversation with those things in mind.

  146. @nrllee,

It is good to see you here! I hope you are okay!

  147. @GB et al. I am not clear why you call IS T2 From two thousand nine on. I am thinking about her as 1.1. She is in a loop, is she not? I think part of my confusion is confusing.Your Nomenclature for People with the names of the time lines.

I understand that you are drawing a Broad framework that can be filled in.

I am focusing on this because I think it will be important towards the resolution of the Drama. Which version of im sol will end up with Which version of SJ.

This is in part a facetious question. How do individuals from different time lines finally end up in the same one? I don’t think even einstein could figure that out!

  148. So this is How I am thinking of the show at this moment.

My SPECULATION about how the time travel will work out

The accident we see at the end of episode two is the same one where she originally was injured. I wondered at first if that was the case but the image of someone else running to her Confirmed for me this is the case. So this is where their relationship starts Which we have realized he is mourning. So I think at some point in those few months of their relationship She ends up time-traveling to another time.Perhaps back to where she came from. Now she knows they were in love and She will mourn his death from that perspective if she goes back to her original time. I have not thought through yet about whether she will be in a wheelchair or not. Probably not.

I am beginning to think that the photograph might have been in his wallet and not just suddenly showing up because their relationship had changed In the past. He was already remembering their relationship because he had lived through it. Here is where she might get pulled into the drama of His suicide And or an investigation of possible murder.

She will want to return to the past. But to what time in the past? To prevent his suicide. Maybe
She tries A few times. Perhaps she is the one knocking on the door as someone suggested. Hopefully they are happy and together Way before he is thirty four though. I am thinking there might be a twist like in SOOD Where he transmigrates from.
His dead body in 2022 to The original SJ, who is Maybe in a coma from when he tried to rescue her the first time.

I’m sure there are many holes in these theories. I do not mind if people point them out to me and then I can refine my thoughts.

It will be fun to see how it really plays out. I am putting this out here to help my mind.Stop trying to predict what’s going to happen over the next however many episodes.

  149. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

    @MM,
You like thinking about the logic of the time jumps and timelines, too.

If T1 and T2 do not merge, then there will be 2 (or more!) iterations of everything or a parallel world somewhere else. But we want a story where the past will affect our current storyline, therefore by rights, the timeline should merge ultimately. ALSO, that photo showed up which means, we are in 1 merged timeline and the past has affected 2023. With the photo showing up, we now know that the 2023 we saw had become T2 2023.

I numbered the Timelines so that I could refer to the characters in different times more easily.

Im Sol’s trajectory is currently the one to figure out because she’s the one who time jumped. I/We wonder if the T1 2023 Im Sol in the cold water of the canal survived and went home to live a sad life thinking that SJ had died. Or if she died/fell into a coma at that time, while T2 Im Sol is running around In the period of time between 2008 to the time of the accident. This has been the conjecture above from our BOD community. [My added question is what happened to T1 Im Sol when T2 Im Sol took over her body.]

If the accident that SJ in Ep 2 saved her from in 2008 is the same one that would paralyse T1 Im Sol, then they have changed the future, because T2 Im Sol is not paralysed after that near accident. At the same time Show gave us a momentary Flash of another Im Sol about to be hit by a car as well. Let me refer to that as the ‘F1 Accident’.

That would be the other iteration of Im Sol from another timeline … perhaps T1 … But who knows. She was in a very different looking school uniform!!! (The white car that came at her had the license plate number 5663).

Because of that F1 Accident and the flash of another IS, and because she is the one who time jumped, I’ve started thinking that it’s IS who may have multiple iterations, like that duplication of the same watch. That’s not to say that SJ might not also have multiple iterations.

In that F1 Accident, there was a boy running towards her, calling her name. That boy might have died in the F1 Accident. That’s why Im Sol’s mum wouldn’t speak of her saviour. If that boy had also been Sun Jae, then either he survived after saving IS, or if he had died, then the SJ we see now is another iteration of him. If that boy was Tae Sung, then Tae Sung may have died.

@MM, I’m not sure where you figured that SJ would be mourning, because either way, IS was saved: either paralysed or not.

The fact that Show gives us the scene of the hotel room with the table without photo and then the photo appearing on it, tells us that T2 IS had indeed changed the current 2023. Yes, that photo is going to implicate Im Sol in 2023. If and when she returns to her own time, she’ll be questioned as to her relationship with Sun Jae. Then she’ll really have her work cut out for her. Save herself from suspicion in 2023 and save SJ from dying when in the past!

SJ, because he has the same watch that transcends time, might also end up time jumping to save Im Sol. Once he discovers what the watch can do, he will also use the watch to try and save Im Sol from the accident. So this is where the possibility of time looping comes in.

It’s a long wait until we get our next 2 episodes and new clues!!!

  150. @GB Thank you for your Detailed response. It will require some digesting.

About SJ Mourning her, I was referring to mourning the relationship that I am thinking they had then somehow it ended.

It is dawning on me.That one reason I am having trouble Grasping this is That I am thinking of time lines being Continuous but I guess they can diverge at any point Into a new time line. Let me reread your comment with that in mind and then I think I need to turn the lights off So I can be awake for thinking more about timelines in nine times nine Tomorrow morning.

Righty ho! @MM. Happy re-reading and sweet dreams!

  152. @GB I think the lights are turning on! When you taLk about T2 do you mean the future timeline? I was thinking of timelines as being in paralel.

Even though the above point confuses me, I feel like I have a better understanding of this story. See you soon.

@MM, as mentioned, it’s easier to refer to Im Sol as T2 IS and T1 IS than to say “IS after or before she time jumped”. It’s a way I felt would make it easier for us to refer to the character.

T2 could also mean the Timeline 2 from the time that Im Sol jumps to 2008. As a character with her prior knowledge of 2023, she continues as T2 Im Sol as far as we see in 2008 until the near accident.

However, it seems that in 2009 at the hospital, she’s not T2 Im Sol yet … she’s still T1 Im Sol who does not have that prior knowledge.

By contrast, SJ is following through from his T1 Timeline.
T1 SJ is already captivated by T1 Im Sol
T1 SJ meets T2 Im Sol who hugs him at the swimming pool but he thinks she’s from T1. Because he meets T2 IS, I call him T1.1 SJ.

T1 SJ finds T2 IS weird but likes her anyway. He saves her from being hit by a car.
We don’t know what happened after that. There is for us the gap (that the following episodes should fill in) between how T2 IS fares from this time until June 2009 since she no longer suffers the accident and is no longer paralysed.

In the LOOP back or rather forward … all we know in 2009, T1.1 SJ calls T1 Im Sol when she’s in hospital but she does not even remember his name!!! He’s disappointed.

However that phone call gets T1 IS to be a fan of T1.1 SJ. Gotta run!

  154. Thank you very Helpful@GB I followed everything until where you say.We do not know what happened after the near miss car accident. Oh you may be writing this Before watching episode three. I am only seeing your comment now.

I was also beginning to wonder if the IM In the radio broadcast scene was the original.

  155. Correction it is early in the morning here and I have not had my coffee. Of course it is the original IM! I think😊. I already knew that.
