Bitch Talk: If I Were Dating These Kdramas…

I’ve joked often enough that I’m a serial killer. I date kdrama series and dump them.

This guy, on the other hand, died due to a cereal killer. Cereal. Get it?

The Fall 2019 season of kdramas went off with a bang with so many new and promising dramas to choose from. But now eight weeks later, when I look back at these dramas, I find that many of them were duds.

They say hindsight is 20/20. If I were to compare these kdramas I started to watch in September to guys I dated in my previous lifetimes, I would have known which ones to avoid.

1. Vagabond

Watching this kdrama is like dating a dumb jock in high school. Sure, he looked cool as he ran down the field, evading tackles and cradling the football in his arms. But he’d never make it to Trigonometry without tutorial.

The chase scenes were good for the first episodes, but Lee Seunggi was on steroids. I wished he’d calm down. He was giving me a headache.

To make matters worse, this airy-fairy character, played by Suzy, was thrown at me. I was ready to put all my trust in her as the Lara Croft/Anjelina Jolie heroine of this show. I had high hopes she’d match LSG’s action stunts but noooooo, I was gobsmacked by her aegyo stunts.

Verdict: I dumped it.

2. Flower Crew: Joseon Marriage Agency

I lasted through 16 episodes of this drama because it was like dating the Joseon version of Mr. Darcy. My problem with the show was that there was no chemistry. There was a stiffness in this romcom, and it didn’t come from Mr. Darcy, played by sweetheart Kim Min Jae but from his leading lady.

I place the blame on the actress Gong Seung Yeon who played Gaedong. She ruined many of the scenes with her stiff cheeks, one-size-fits-all, bugged-eyed, facial expression. I’m upset because I can see the potential of this script had it been given to a more charming actress like Kim HyeYoon.

Verdict: Ruined by a miscast Elizabeth Bennet

3. Tale of Nokdu

Dating this drama is like dating a cute but hot guy from a dysfunctional family. I love the sweetness of being a couple but I’m perpetually wondering what’s wrong with his psycho parents. Thanks but no thanks.

Sign language for “sick.”

It annoyed me that there’s a general shift of focus in the drama. Instead of the drama focusing on Nokdu’s identity, it shifted to the persecution complex of his father, the King. I find myself asking, “What’s up with Nokdu’s dad?” instead of  “What’s up, Nokdu?”

Moreover, I can’t accept that a father would want to kill his own son and heir simple because of a Shaman’s warning. What kind of message is this to viewers? To believe in fortune-tellers? That nobody can’t escape his fate?

See that? Fatalism rears its ugly head again. Bleagh.

Because the Shaman’s prophesy and the king’s terror that it’d would come true, he tried to kill his son. Twenty years later, his reign was now in jeopardy because of the events of November 19, that ill-fated day.

When reasonable people think about this, the fault had nothing to do with the date, but with the King’s actions. Had he strove to be a wise king and to work for his people, who cared if Shaman predicted that his reign would end? All reigns ended at some point anyway, but at least he would have been known as a good and benevolent ruler. He should have kept his eye on working for the people, instead of retaining his power.

Essentially, he allowed his persecution complex to ruin him.

Verdict: On hold. Stupid side-plot is threatening to overwhelm the romance. Will wait to see if Jang Dong Yoon can salvage this.

4. When the Camellia Blooms

This is about dating a mother’s boy.

Image result for mama's boy gif

Ooooh, the irony! When a mother has to insist that his son isn’t a mama’s boy….then he is.

I still find it entertaining that Youngsik acts like a besotted fool but part of me now wonders if he isn’t like Peter Pan falling for Wendy. This sort of idealized romantic love is not feasible in the long run. Youngsik has to grow up, just like JongRyeul grew up when Dongbaek left him.

Verdict: On hold.

5. Extra-ordinary You

Watching this show is like dating a cheater…the director is a cheater. I know that he’s two-timing us with the male leads.

Whatever.

Image result for no to cheater gif

Verdict: On hold till the end. I’m filing a restraining order on this director, though. lol. His shows aren’t going to show up on my screen in the future.

6. Melting You

Image result for boring gif

This is a prime example of a romcom that failed to launch. Due to advance word from other posters here, I didn’t bother with this. Maybe when there’s a slack here in the blog, I’ll pick it up.

Verdict: Dead of arrival.

  1. Same same with me..
I’m stopped watching vagabond in episode 3,,
Melting me softly in episode 2,,
    Still on going with nokdu,,
Finished flower crew because fall in love with Ma Hoon and beginning fangirling Kim Min Jae..😍😍😍

Next will try watch Extra-ordinary You because I’m curious about your compliments for character of Dan Oh.. ☺

  2. Just wait till the end of EY before starting it. Like with most love triangles, ‘tis better for your heart if you know ending before beginning the show. 😂 No need to clutter your mind with useless angst.

  3. Hahaha..
    Like my cousin said,,
It’s better to watching kdrama when it finished than on going..
At least you don’t have to wait next episode..
And for some reason you can judge that the drama worth to watch or not from the review..😂

  4. hahahahaaa :)))
    100% true
But btw, I haven’t seen that previous work you mention of the director of Extra-ordinary you, but there’s no way Kyung is end game.
There is nothing in the drama to suggest that and I’m confused every time I read you being afraid the drama will end up with him and DanOh.
I mean sure, he’s on a path to be partially turned into less of a jerk. But only that.
He is a better character to watch than HaRu though, in large part because of the acting. But also because he has all these complex, contradicting emotions.

  5. I went ahead and checked Melting You and nope!!

It was one of the dumbest endings I’ve seen, too. The solution to the problem is to go have a YouTube Channel.

    😂😈🙄🤪😱☠️ 🤦‍♀️🤯🤬

  6. Melting Me Softly was a dud. It was Killing Me Softly. The comments have been mostly negative everywhere. The writers attempted to tame down the slapstick and change the direction of the plot mid drama and it ended up in no man’s land. Only diehard JCW fans plowed through it. I dropped it on Ep2.

I am glad EY is coming to an end actually. Enough of the comic world for me. The multiple plot lines are getting intertwined and it looks to be getting messy so I imagine some will be tied off but not all.

I agree about Flower Crew. MaHoon was worth it. And the clever dialogue.

Oli, I can defend Kyung’s case and make him look like a poor, misunderstood kid. I can twist the whole story and say that DanOh really love Kyung and she was only using Haru to get back at Kyung. And I can argue that Haru knew DanOh really loved Kyung and he was willing to bow out of the scene if and when Kyung began loving DanOh the way she deserved to be loved.

This story can be argued both ways. Haru never said, “She’s mine!” He only said that she’s her own woman, and if DanOh was to choose to be with Kyung then he’d let her go.

We saw (wellll…..technically, you ladies did. I skipped Jooda’s scenes) that Jooda is playing both guys, NamJoo and DoHwa. But it can also be argued that DanOh herself is playing off the two guys, too, but subtler…or more “unconscious.” For instance, why did DanOh bring home the banner? why did she write down on the destiny rock that she wanted Kyung to like her? where does she really look at when Kyung and Haru grab at each other? Is she more concerned for Kyung or Haru when Kyung bullies Haru? She looked back at Kyung with a concerned face in the water when Haru threw him in? Did she really mean it when she said she was buggered more when Kyung suddenly paid more attention to her? Or did she enjoy the attention? As her friends say, she doth protest too much. lol.

When she read the prose about Love in the library and became flustered, was it because she thought she was in love with Haru, or was it because she realized how her actions could be misinterpreted by Haru and she was embarrassed? She tried avoiding him after that. Was it because she was flustered in his company or because, again she didn’t want to be misinterpreted? Was she falling in love with him as a guy? Or was she just moved because this was her first time being showered attention by a sweetheart?

Then meeting Haru at the tree…she insisted on going there as soon as she woke up. Is it because she missed and loved him as a guy? Or because this was promise she made to Haru, her talisman and destiny-changer? She keeps on saying that he’s her destiny maker, as if his existence/value in her life is tied to his functionality. What if he wasn’t the destiny changer, but Kyung, would Haru still matter to him?

See those. I can throw out more, if you want. Like why did Haru cry, at the stars event, when he heard her repeat the same things that she said to Kyung. Because I was Team Haru, I explained that it was because, finally! he was hearing the words said to him, and he was happy. Moved to tears.

But if I was on Team Kyung, I would have pointed out that he was crying because he realized that, even in those Shadow moments, she was ONLY repeating the same words. He wasn’t really changing the story…as Kyung said.

    🙂

See Oli? I’m trained to see a case from all sides, anticipate the opponent’s strategies, and sow doubts. lol.

  8. It wasn’t long ago that we said when it rains it pours but it seems like it wasn’t a good rain altogether, maybe it was hail? 😂

I’m excited to finish Tale of NokDu because I want to see my current fave pairing to live happily ever after. ☺️

  9. pwahahaha.

Yes. It wasn’t a good rain. It was like freezing rain or sleet or graupel (which is softer than hail).

@#$@# kdrama writers. Getting me all excited over nothing. 🙂

  10. Yes. I checked out the last 4 minutes of the show. With four minutes to go, the guy was telling her to go her way and he’d go his because there was no way he’d hold her back (or something to that nonsense) then a young girl called them up and proposed Youtube. Then with two minutes to go, they were shown in Seattle (huh??), waving to their fans online. I guess they became a “social influencer” couple. Whatever….The end.

What a dumb thing ending. I couldn’t even rationalize that ending with Heidegger. pwahahaha.

  11. “ What a dumb thing ending. I couldn’t even rationalize that ending with Heidegger.”

Yes even diehard fans were disappointed 😞. It was all sorts of weird (I read the recaps just to find out how they were going to end it). Both JCW and WJA were wasted talents in that drama. Just goes to show that no amount of great acting can salvage a horrible script.

From the looks of various fan taken pics, the ending for EY could very well go @Barbrey’s way. With a new ManHwa featuring the star crossed lovers as main leads… which leads me to think the writer may be trying to please BOTH camps. O look Kyung gets the girl in Secret and HR gets the girl in A Rose For You. 🙄🤔. Everyone lives happily ever after.

  12. Kyung getting DanOh in Secret = abhorrent
She said no! for 12 episodes then because of that last-second save, he gets the girl.
    Hurray the tsundere guy.

There’s no getting around this, nrllee. The director was trying to show what a genius he was at deceiving people, at playing it both ways.

That’s why I said no, by end of Episode 10. I said I didn’t like the direction this was going, and I wanted to be proven wrong. lol.

  13. I don’t see the Director changed the story from the manhwa like this. I mean nobody have doubts about Baek Kyung’s love but Danoh? For once, the heroine is super clear with her feelings and says “No, I never love you”, and not only one time, so I really don’t see how they could make her fall in love with BK.

Mahoon was a nice character but his father…

For Nokdu, I would have prefer they shortened the phase “I don’t love you, I’m leaving” for DJ. Because it was quite boring and we missed so many swoony moments…

For Camelia, it’s one thing I hate in Kdrama : when parents think they can do what they want for their children’s safety/happiness/future like trampling the feelings of others or showing disrespect because their child is the best.

  14. I wish we’ll have some tsundere guy in winter too..😍

I’m feel sorry for Ji Chang Wook in Melting Me Softly..
    I love him in Healer,,
Even my brother in law is fanboying of him since that..😂

Waiting for the next project of Kim Min Jae,,
But I don’t really like medical drama,,
Even for romantic dr. Kim that receive many compliments and awards..

Hope KMJ can be a lead male again..
A drama with some action scene maybe?

  15. Speaking of rain, we need it very badly here in Oz. There’s a few bush fires going on and it’s really bad. I can’t see the mountain from where I am now because of the smoke hazzard. Praying for those affected and for rain to finally come down.

    🙏🏻 🙏🏻 🙏🏻

  16. OT. Did you notice that Put Your Head On My Shoulder is in Netflix now? 🙂

I’m waiting for My Country to be put in for the last episodes too but I read somewhere Netflix doesn’t have it? I’m not sure why. I hope it gets fixed soon.

  17. Sending prayers your way, @agdr03! Praying for firefighters too!

  18. Oh bad me, yes praying for the firefighters too! 🙏🏻 🙏🏻 🙏🏻

  19. 😂

  20. Yes, my good friend Angelangie also recommended a Cdrama called “A Little Thing Called First Love.” I think I’ll watch it tonight before going to bed.

  21. Cool. I might check in on King’s Avatar again because my cousin said she’s halfway through it. LOL. Our Yang Yang is coming back for the second series of it so I think I should get on with it. hehehe

  22. I always thought it will be Team Haru eventually. In their BTS they did a broken heart hand sign and said they will only do a “mended” heart at the end which is a sign that DO and Haru will be together eventually. But you said the director is unpredictable so… I am wavering. I watched the interviews where the director said he has always wanted to direct EY type of dramas but he was always assigned other dramas to direct. So I wonder how much of the drama is his own influence or from those higher up. To which, he said he could finally direct EY type of dramas (romantic comedy I think) because those in his agency who assigned him the dramas is no longer there.

This was interesting cos I thought directors get to choose what they want to direct and isn’t under any agency like most actors are.

  23. 😂 To me, I understood that to mean:

    1. Haru and DO “eventually” = some other book but not this manhwa. 🤮

    But I’m hoping not….🤞🤞

    2. Director wanted to do *THIS* kind of drama/romcom = he wanted drama/romcom that present TWO sides simultaneously. It takes skill to do this.

He’s not talking about the genre, i.e., melodrama, sageuk, romcom, action, comedy.

He’s talking about a drama where he could deliberately stage it to go moving RIGHT on the surface, but actually moving LEFT below the surface. He wants to see if he’s skilled enough to deceive viewers.

Heeyyy, I didn’t say he was unpredictable. 😂 He IS predictable. That’s why I noticed that the DIRECTING of this romcom was familiar. I checked his name out and discovered that his previous work was The King in Love.

I said he liked to pick projects (the King in Love and this one) that are based on original works (a published novel for TKiL and a manhwa for EY) and then do the reverse/mirror image of the plots in the original works. 🤪

That’s why Team Kyung was upset about Kyung being meaner than the original manhwa. This director changed it. (Or he and the writers agreed to change it from the original.)

I know so because he did the same thing in TKiL. 🙂

  24. Well…previews seem to indicate that BK will finally give her up…voiceovers

BK: It was the fake you. if i want to keep the fake you with me then I’m really a monster.
BK (to haru): my stage with dan oh will start. you go there instead of me .
DO: beak kyung, secret’s eun dan oh thanks you.

So there you go, looks like BK has his epiphany and stands aside for HR to take his woman. He gives her up. 🙂.

  25. Lalalala. (Hands on my ears while singing loudly) Lalalalala.

    Nice try, nrllee.

You’re not going to make me watch this drama until it’s over. I’m going to spare my heart. ❤️ I’m watching Camellia on Wednesday and Thursday.

  26. “ You’re not going to make me watch this drama until it’s over.”

Yeah thought as much 😂. I will take one for the team and fill you in. There’s way too much fan girling in Soompi right now and I need time away or I may just feel the need to lob a bomb in there with an ode to BK(LJW) 😂 because I feel like Rowoon is getting way too much credit for the little that he’s done except look beautiful.

  27. Yeah. Take one for team, girlfriend!

Yes, LJW is definitely a keeper. I would have looked into this WWW for him. I’m not looking forward to his next show though with Seo Kang Jun (spelling?). The visuals should be interesting but I’ve a feeling it’s a love triangle again.

I’ll be darned if I go through another love triangle with those two guys. It’s like choosing between Ben and Jerry New York Superfudge or Haagen-Daz Butter Pecan.

  28. Well, I have to admit I was excited in October when all of these great sounding dramas were premiering. Back then I was bemoaning the fact that i had to prioritize as real life has cut into my drama watching time, but the good part about that is I’ll have all those cool dramas to savor over the long winter months, right? now I’m glad I had to put everything on the back burner because of viewer comments. I was watching Tale of Nokdu and really enjoying it but I had to put it on hold for a bit. I’m back now trying to catch up before the final episode next week. I’m glad I held off on Vagabond, especially since it now seems certain to end in cliffhanger and a wait for Season 2. 🙁 Netflix is pissing me off with making the dramas multiple seasons without the warning (side eyeing you, Love Alarm). Also glad I listened to my gut feelings and waited on Melt Me Softly since it looks like that drama was a disappointment to a lot of viewers. It’s too bad because I like both lead actors.
For Chinese language dramas, I’m currently watching Taiwan rom com Hello Again! on Viki. It’s a cute, light watch-just what I need. I tried watching a few episodes of A Little Thing Called First Love, but I couldn’t get into it. I’ll wait to hear from you guys how things turned out for that drama.

  29. What? Vagabond has a Season 2?? Surely, you jest!

As for Tale of Nokdu, I thought the final episode was today? Didn’t they show two episodes back-to-back last night?

Somebody recommended “A Little Thing Called First Love” to me. I was planning on watching it last night but woke up in the middle of the night sleeping on top of my ipad. I must have conked out while while loading it. lol.

Which reminds me…I have to post something on Love Alarm.

  30. I lasted 5-6 eps of Melting You because my baby Choi Bomin of my fave kpop group Golden Child has a supporting role. (please check their new music video out now https://youtu.be/knIBy6fKR5Y hihi shameless promo here😂)

Well, my baby BM’s role is being the son of female lead’s(WJA) friend and female lead’s ex. When WJA went back to uni after 20 yrs because of cryo, she and BM attended BM dad/WJA ex’s class. From then on, BM likes WJA.

Imagine liking your mom’s friend!? On top of these is the impending divorce of his parents because his dad is trying to win WJA back pfft.

Anyway, I waited for Melting You to have a crazy reveal to BM of all the mess but what I got is an underwhelming revelation. BM’s mom just talked to him about the situation.

Hahaha I can’t really w/ this drama, just skipping it to my baby’s scenes until ep 6 because it’s already so tiring to keep up with the drama. But yeah melting you a meh. Hoping for my baby to have better dramas to act to but first he’s focusing on being an idol now after 13 months hiatus 😅😅

  31. I went on YT but you need to tell me which one he is because there are 8? 9? of them there. Or at least tell me the time he appeared on the music video. lol.

Have you heard of a group called Super M? I haven’t but they were in my neck of the woods two days ago. My husband VOLUNTEERED (what a sweetheart!) to buy us tickets if I wanted to go and watch since he knows I watch korean shows. I said “heck no!”

What would I do in the midst of screaming girls? Dance? Wave a flashlight? Scream? If I had a daughter or a niece with me, maybe I’d consider accompanying her. But a husband?? That idea was hysterical. He wouldn’t know what to do, the poor guy. And I wouldn’t know what to do with HIM either.

  32. @nrllee, Ha! Told you he wouldn’t like a Stepford Wife! I will try to find the preview, thanks for posting. I’ve been avoiding soompi.

  33. Pkm3, you should go. When I got divorced after a 25 year marriage I decided to do tons of adventurous things, and I did, one of the most adventurous after skydiving and hostelling through Europe and Turkey on my own, was mosh pitting. Aside from getting groped from behind while I couldnt move or even turn around, I had fun, and wondered why I hadn’t done more of these things with my husband. We get old before our time in a marriage I think. It’s a regret.

  34. “ Have you heard of a group called Super M? ” @packmule3

Yes… and I hear you say “why does that not surprise me?” 😂. They are a mash up of some SM groups. I only know them because of the kerfuffle they raised when news first broke of them forming. The group consists of

    Kai, BaekHyun (both from EXO)
    Taeyong and Mark (from NCT)
    Ten and Lucas (WayV)
    Taemin (Shinee)

Disclaimer – I only know the first 2 from EXO (because of Do KyungSoo), the others I had to Google. 😂. Aww but brownie points for hubby who even thought to bring it up. What a sweetheart. My daughter would’ve died (figuratively) if she scored tickets. Our trip to Korea in Feb 2020? Turns out it coincides with her favourite group’s (ATEEZ) Concert Tour which begins in Korea… she’s going to try to get tickets to watch them. I am desperately trying to get her to hook up with a high school girl friend she had who has moved back to Seoul so that I won’t have to accompany daughter dear. 😂. Or maybe I should do as you suggested and “Hire an Oppa” for the night to be her escort 😆.

    “ I’ve been avoiding soompi.” @Barbrey
Very wise. Serious fan girling happening there. Gif after gif of HR/DO “memories” in anticipation of the impending temporary setback when she’s in the arms of another man 😂. Lots of tears and angst. Led by none other than Queen Bee herself (you know who I’m talking about 😂). And I the lone voice of reason left there. They are trying to pin the death of DO to BK who removed her O2 mask for a while but put it back… BAD BAD man!! Never mind the fact that their beloved was the one who swapped the medical files which bypassed her surgery and therefore caused her condition to worsen? She flatlined only after BK left and HR has his turn in the hospital room with DO when the mask was back on. I get the feeling she will really “die” on stage. If that was her set up from the get go, then so far, their actions in the shadow have only delayed a scene, not actually changed the writer’s mind and therefore preventing it from happening at all.

  35. @pm3 – You didn’t watch anymore episodes of Pegasus Market?

  36. Why? 😫 Why are you stressing me out like this? 😂😈 I just caught up with Camellia.

    Should I marathon PM, too?

  37. @Barbrey in case you couldn’t find an English subbed version of the preview, here it is. It sounds like BK will exit stage right for HR… and DO thanks BK for his gesture of loving sacrifice (letting her go).

    https://www.instagram.com/p/B5Cz_5ZJKIJ/?igshid=xuo8h62gmlhv

  38. “ Why? 😫 Why are you stressing me out like this? 😂😈 I just caught up with Camellia.

    Should I marathon PM, too?”

Because we want you to flirt with old flames again. And bring some angst into the utopian safety of those ranking high in your bf of the week ladder… nothing like healthy competition to get them to up the ante. 😂

  39. Je résiste! All these boyfriends banging on their pots and pans are giving me a headache.

What should we watch next? Should we go for Yoon ShiYoon’s Psychopath Diary?

  40. lol. Yes. I knew you’d know these guys. 🙂

I watched the Ellen clip shared by agdr03. I recognized Taemin! from Shinee but that’s about it.

Wait. Kai. I remembered Kai from Exo. Wasn’t he the one who dated a girl from SNSD? Jessica? Tiffany? Lauren?

But I wouldn’t know the others from Adam.

Anyway, I turned down my husband’s very nice offer. Two things clinched it:

One, the price. I don’t know how much you typically pay for these kpop concert tickets but I thought $150 was a bit too much considering a) I didn’t know these guys and b) I was basically shelling out $300 to feel like a fish out of water. I can easily do that when I walk in a Korean supermarket….

If the tickets were $50, sure I’d watch it. Was I being ridiculously cheap or what?

Two, I texted my sons to ask whether this group was good and if I should watch this concert with their dad and they did NOT respond.

No text back. No reply. Not even an emoticon. Nada.

I took their silence to mean that my query was so ludicrous it didn’t even merit a response and that they would disown me if I went with Dad.

That’s why I ended up not going. 🙂

ooohhh. “Hire an oppa” for a concert buddy? That’s too funny. Reserve the hired oppa for something else like introducing you to street food or doing a kdrama tour with you (i.e., visit the kdrama location sites). I know if I had a daughter, I’d do this with her.

  41. 😂. Left you on “read”. I get that often with my kids. I will see if she can get tickets. But yeah $150 is a bit much. I have no clue as to how much the ATeez concert will cost. I don’t even know if we’ll be able to navigate the ticket selling site because we can’t understand Korean. 😂. But yes if she doesn’t hook up with her girlfriend I will probably go with her (and bring ear plugs). I will probably be the only one sitting down whilst they stand and do fan chants.

And yes I am planning to tune in to YSY’s Psychopath Diaries.

  42. “My husband VOLUNTEERED (what a sweetheart!) to buy us tickets if I wanted to go and watch since he knows I watch korean shows.”

Your hubby deserves an award for ‘Best Supportive Husband in KDrama Hobby!’ 🏆 For him to treat you without even knowing what Super M will do in the show, is very sweet of him. 👍 👍 👍

  43. Your reasons for not going are spot on too. It’s valid and I’m sure your not the only one. 😉

  44. PM3 said: “What? Vagabond has a Season 2?? Surely, you jest!”
“As for Tale of Nokdu, I thought the final episode was today? Didn’t they show two episodes back-to-back last night?”

The Vagabond S2 is not officially confirmed, but several people at Soompi Forum said LSG stated there was a S2 in an interview he did a few days ago. Plus, apparently the action is still taking place in either 2012 or 2014 with only 2 episodes to go so people say there’s no way the drama will wrap up in 2 eps.

tale of Nokdu it was ep. 14-15 today. Final ep. 16 is next week. Drama was supposed to end today but everything got pushed back because of the baseball delay.

For myself-not planning on watching Pyschopath Diary. For upcoming K Drama, I’m interested in the Hyun Bin/Son Ye Jin drama. Saw the teaser and it looks cute.

  45. He was scanning for things to “entertain” me with because I had a tiring week at work and he saw the Super M concert. There were still plenty of tickets left.

Remember? I had asked you about it too because I saw a flyer. I didn’t think he’d see it too on his phone app. 🤪

He was gung-ho to book the tickets. I warned him that a kpop concert was NOT anything like The Piano Guys’ concert we last attended in September. Lol.

Here’s a sample of The Piano Guys’ music.

    https://youtu.be/mOO5qRjVFLw

  46. Son Ye Jin/Hyun Bin’s “Crash Landing on You”? It’s not a melodrama, is it?

Okay, we can give that a try, too.

  47. Ah so hubby is not only sweet but thoughtful too. 😉 Yes, you asked me about it but I don’t have a clue on them, just saw bits and pieces on Instragram. 🙂

I thought it’s cute that he just wanted to take you without realizing you both might lose your hearing in the process. LOL. I’ll check that Youtube link later. Thanks. 🙂

By the way, I usually get emails when someone comments on a thread but I’m not getting any. Maybe it’s my email?

  48. Thanks nrllee!

Agdr03, I’ve never got any email though I do tick the box. (By the way, this has no correllation to anything you’ve posted, but in my head I call you ‘Agony Doctor the Third’ and nrllee is ‘Nora Lee, not Sara the cake woman’, and I always envision Packmule3 climbing mountains with her two sons, that’s why she is ‘3’. Thought you guys might find that funny lol!.)

  49. Hahaha.

The number “3” was supposed to look like lips puckering up/blowing a kiss.

The top arc of the “3” is the upper lip and the bottom arc is the lower lip.

    Do you see it?

  50. @Barbrey , 😂 I think I prefer @nrllee’s one better than mine just because a Sara Lee store is near my area. 😂 Mine used to be something with agriculture right? hehehe

Thanks for the info. 😉 I usually get all comments by email but nothing for awhile now. Also I get the subscribe to thread email too once I comment on a new topic but not anymore too. 🙂

  51. I don’t know what happened, @agdr03.

I did add more words to the spamblock a couple of nights ago. And I checked why I was getting more followers. I was going to weed out some the old ones, but I don’t I saw your name on the list of followers? Did I accidentally delete your name?

  52. I don’t know @PM3 🙂 How can I check if you deleted my name?

But I got an email from the comments that was from LOVE O2O just this morning.

  53. Don’t worry about it @PM3 🙂

  54. I sent you a follower invite to your email. I couldn’t find you on the “follower” list or the “email recipient” list.

I don’t know how you become a follower of my blog. @nrllee how did you become a follower? Was there an icon somewhere? I couldn’t see an icon to click to follow my blog because I’m looking at my own site (maybe because I’m the admin??)
Do you go to the wordpress site?

  55. Thank you. 🙂

I don’t know too but all I know is I get the subscribe to wordpress for my first comment on a new topic then I get subsequent comments on it via email.

  56. Weird, I don’t know what I did but I must have messed up something. Did you get my email?

Anyway, I just discovered something new while I was looking for the “follower” button.

I can actually set some posts to “private” setting and invite just the “bitchiest of all bitches” to read and comment on those posts. lol. I didn’t know that. Remember when I created the Room 404 while doing Hotel del Luna? You said there was nothing in there; you couldn’t even post a comment.

But this one you can. I’ll experiment on this sometime. I’m getting sleepy now.

  57. Yes, I did get your email and invitation. Thank you.

I just got your comment above now via email. Maybe it’s not you but it’s me. LOL. I don’t know but it’s working fine now. 🙂 At least it’s sorted.

    Yes, I remember Room 404. 🙂

Sounds intriguing, having the bitchiest of all bitches comment on posts privately. LOL.

You have a good night. 🙂

  58. Hyun Bin/Son Ye jin drama Crash Landing On You supposed to be a rom com. The plot is sure wacky enough to qualify as “screwball comedy”. Some people taking offense at anyone making a rom com set in North Korea. I see their point, but I’m willing to check it out cause the teaser looked cute and I like the actors.

  59. I do see it, Packmule3, and now wonder if ‘kiss my ass’ will play a role in my visuals when I see your name instead of three hearty mules sound of musicking up the Alps. Oldaladie-hoo!

I think I like the sound of Crashing on You, Table. Will check that out.

  60. Holding my breath on previews of tonight’s EY episode @packmule3
Would love to hear a post on the director too as what you have said about his style and how it also shows (and maybe not show) in the drama EY.

Honestly I don’t want a half hearted ending, where their conclusion is just a scene, a possibility of what will happen in the next manhwa or something. HDL’s ending made sense, it was reasonable and hopeful.

I am still not finishing Tale of Nokdu and Flower Crew’s last episode :O and Crash Landing on You sounds promising.

It is so sweet of yr husband to offer to buy tickets for you to go to a k-concert! If it is IU I will go in a heartbeat.

  61. Well, if the *bad* ending happens, I can show you. If the bad ending doesn’t happen, then what’s the point of me agitating people further? 😂

It’s a good idea to be prepared for both scenarios.

I detest open endings, to be quite honest. It’s like receiving a Christmas present that I still need to finish wrapping and tying with a bow. Rude!

However, I know I’m competent when I can tie everything up neatly and nicely (both the gift and open-endings).

There are only a handful of Kdramas whose open endings I bothered to explain.

Memories of the Alhambra: it was about faith. Of course! It had to be faith. It was set in Alhambra of all places. 🤦‍♀️

Goblin: it was about the meaning of the afterlife as a “u-turn.” The writer kept on saying that, that life/death/afterlife was a u-turn.

The Hotel del Luna: it was about being and time. 😂 What it means to exist (of course, since the theme was dying) and what it means to have time to live.

I can only explain open endings after immersing myself in the drama. 🤣 I can work out a closure that will satisfy *me* because I know what *I want* from the characters.

  62. Bingo. You’re the first one to get that. “Kiss my ass!” 🎯

    👏👏👏

For burdening me with worries and troubles, and for not leaving me alone to think in peace, please kiss my ass.

    😈😂

I was asked (or “bugged”) to join soompi.

  63. In books, if you follow the symbolism or imagery, the ending is often not as open as it seems at first glance. In kdrama it is sometimes the same. For instance, in Cheese in the Trap, the director or writer chose to use light bulbs (a street light flickering, steady or out) to show a connection between the leads and the state of their relationship. When the male lead leaves to sort out his major stuff, he never responds to her emails and her screen is dark. Then he passes her in the street one day and doesn’t see her or doesn’t acknowledge her. You think that’s it, but then her computer light starts flickering and it shows he has started to read her emails and the light steadies. I thought it was a happy ending but anyone else who wasn’t following the light imagery thought it was far too little to just show he read an email! But the play with light was such a feature of the story for me that I had a huge smile on my face.

HDL’s subtext was not as straightforward and actually conflicted: existentialism and reincarnation/supernatural at the same time. Plus all the myth symbolism, and the tree and flower symbolism that was not always consistent. So you pick your poison. I chose to believe in a middle ground, a pocket heaven surrounded by loved ones that was as real as the hotel and ghosts of HDL.

  64. You probably never told anyone else that 3 was a kiss!

Remind me not to bother you…running away now!

  65. @packmule3 I’m so sorry for the late reply. My grandpa died, so was taking a break from everything.

My boy, Bomin is the first one to appear in the music video, as well as the last. Sadly he has no singing parts, but he’s center position in some of the dance sequences. By the way, there are 10 of them in Golden Child 😅.

SuperM! Yes of course I heard of them. They taught me that when we are jumping and popping we jopping lol 😂.

You’re husband’s so sweet 😍. Wish I was their fan and lived there, I could’ve asked for the ticket lol 😃😂.

  66. My condolences. May he Rest In Peace. I hope your fond memories of your grandpa will comfort you. Great grandparents are always heaven-sent and heaven-bound. 🙂

Yes. I heard about that jopping. Ugh! I don’t know what he meant by popping. I know what jumping is but I thought he mispronounced popping and meant pooping. 😂

  67. Hello packmule3,

I just tried Melting Me Softly.
I don’t know how I could hold out for three episodes.
The humour is grotesque, and there’s a lot of overplaying.
Normally, I hate it, but it’s so stupid here, it goes on on some stages.
However, there are many boring passages, and I feel that this is not going to get any better.

So I’m going to attack The Tale of Nokdu.
With the actress Kim So-Hyun, of whom I am pitifully fanboy :-))

Concerning Extraordinary You, he’s on my watchlist because of the theme.
However, after taking a look at the manhwa, it looks like we’re very, very far from W.
The theme seems more romance-oriented, and not real SF with mindfuck and crazy plot twists.
Is it really the director who is responsible for your disappointment, or the writer?
Kim Sang-Hyub still directed Dong Yi, which was a good historical drama.

Flower Crew Joseon Marriage Agency and When the Camellia Blooms: I was hesitant, but in the end, I think I’ll avoid them. After all, I already have an impressive list of dramas to see. Including some great classics.
