Here’s the synopsis from ChineseDrama.info

The story follows a quirky female investigator Tian Sanqi as she searches for her long lost ‘brother’ and cracks many cases along the way.

Growing up, Tian Sanqi (Esther Yu) had a strange liking for performing autopsies. She had an older ‘brother’ who would always be by her side and they spent many good years together. One day, he mysteriously disappeared.

Packmule3’s note: “Older brother” doesn’t mean a biological older brother. She called him older brother as a sign of respect but they weren’t related to each other.

As a child, Sanqi promised to find her true love and vowed never to marry anyone but her true love.

In her search, she comes across many potential candidates and forms new friendships. The gang accidentally becomes involved in several cases in the area one of which seems closely related to the disappearance of her ‘brother’ all those years ago. A shocking conspiracy that is 10 years in the making comes to light.

And here’s the synopsis from cdramalove.com.

Zhao Cuo, who lives in Nanfu, is arrogant and overbearing. He accidentally meets the female forensic doctor Tian San Qi. After a series of ridiculous events they marry one another. Soon, they get involved in a case and Tian San Qi and others work to expose the scheme and solve the mystery.

Tian San Qi. Born into the ninth generation of a family funeral business, she is very talented in autopsies, is an independent and witty daughter-in-law and is also a detective.

Zhan Cuo. On the outside, he is cynical and overbearing, but inside he’s a shy and and affectionate man.

From the two summaries, we can expect:

1. a smart female lead who’s either a forensic doctor or a funeral parlor embalmer. lol.
2. her accidental marriage to an arrogant guy
3. a crime-fighting husband-and-wife duo
4. love to blossom

I’m leaving this open thread for you ladies to comment on the Cdrama. Let’s enjoy the show!

  1. I have watched Ep.1

my first impression is that this drama is pure fluff silliness and definitely wacky. The cast is young and pretty. Bonus: 2nd FL is Anna Hollen who was the 2nd FL in Lucky’s First Love. I liked her performance in that drama so looking forward to seeing her in this drama. Another positive is that everyone is using their own voices, so no weird dubbing.
Now, the down side: The translations for the subtitles are not that good. I could still understand the main points, but there were issues for me. I am hoping that maybe they will improve more in the later episodes.
I highly recommend for people to watch Avenue X review of this drama. Her review gave me a lot of good information, including some background on the humor elements, which really helped me to enjoy the drama even more. Here is the link:

  2. Oops! I didn’t mean for the YT link to embed. Sorry, @pm3.

  3. Thanks @pkml3 and @Table122000
This show, being in short half hour episodes and so light that it could float … had me devouring 5-6 episodes at one time! It really is ridiculous, totally zany in parts, and therefore pure entertainment, which I really need right now, so I’m watching it all the way through. I don’t notice much in the way of thought-provoking dialogue (script) that @pkml3 ships, so probably we can just watch it for fluff.

I did like the conversation parallel with the Bai guy (son of the other magistrate). First time he meets San Qi he’s not able to get a word in. Later the tables are turned when he saves her.

And of course the ‘tsundere’ ML has to be irritating. He reminds me of some politicised groups who commit a crime but accuse other of it, as if they are then to be considered not culpable. He falsely advocates friendship with his ‘wife’ and insists that it means loyalty it the end, but is the first to be disloyal at every opportunity. Unfortunately San Qi is either too dumb or too good natured to take him to task.

The actors are young (MyDramaList only displays the youngsters and ignores the older actors!!), the stereotypes are intense and the comedy verges on farce, but they go into it with such commitment that it’s thoroughly enjoyable.

    😆 ☺️ 😋

  4. I watched parts of it last night. He was in a brothel when the girl showed and insisted that he was her big brother.

It is farce. But I’m used to verbal farce (like Pegasus Market) rather than physical, bawdry farce so this will take me time to get used to. Perhaps after 3 or 4 episodes.

The guy’s bare chest was a distraction though. 😂 It lacked hair and needed some toned muscles. Boo! 👎

  5. Did you want me to remove the link? (Which link was this?) 🙂

  6. @pm3
The link was the Avenue X review from YouTube. I thoght it would just display as a written link and not embed. If you are OK with the embed, then I am Ok with it staying. If you are not, then go ahead and remove it.

For this drama, I have finished up to Ep. 4
I laughed quite a bit in Ep. 2 with the meeting of the 2 fathers to sign the marriage contract! Love how Mr. He was just so greedy that everything Zhao Cuo tried to get him to call off the wedding was a complete failure! haha!
@GB- yes, the ML is being a jerk in these episodes, but SanQi just ignores his behavior toward her. Although you can tell he is becoming affected by her even in this early stage. Physical attraction was there right from the start of the wedding night, and he wasn’t too happy that she went off with the 2nd ML even though HE was the one who ran off first. I also like the shorter episode length so far, and with 24 episodes total the pacing of the drama feels right. Not dragging like so many C Dramas.

  7. I’ve started watching this but on youtube. It’s subbed there, I just saw it yesterday. I’ll try to catch up with you ladies for this one.

@Table 122000 , I’ve started on Some Day or One Day too but I stopped coz I was falling asleep but not because of the series but my tiredness. I am into it. It is very intriguing and Alice Ke is very easy to watch. I’d forgotten how pretty she is. 🙂

  8. The ML here, Zhao Cuo reminds me of Seo Ji-Hoon aka King Lee Soo of Flower Crew Joseon Marriage Crew. hehehe

  9. Who’s the Female Lead supposed to end up with? Who’s this big brother she’s looking for?

The guy in the whorehouse or the guy with the adoring fans and the stamp?

  10. I thought the FL was looking for the one she played with when she was young and that was the guy from the whorehouse 😱 (not used to using this word) after seeing the face drawing on the kite that he owns but it turns out that it’s the other guy?. That guy stamped a drawing with the face similar to the one in the lotus tree where they usually play.

So the one she’s looking for is the other guy but she’ll definitely end up with the guy from the whorehouse. 😁

  11. Morning!

After watching the end credits to episode 2, I believe the guy from the whorehouse is the one she’s looking for, older brother and the one she wants to marry.

I think he’s pretending only because his life is in danger since they were 8 years old. So I think he told the stamp guy about their whole symbolism like the grimace face and his name ring. But without telling him about Sanqi.

This is just my story judging from his pauses whenever she reminds him of stuff and the end credits. 😊

    Welcome to correct me anyway.

I’m exhausted now probably from the concert last night so early bedtime for me. 😴

    Have a nice day! ☺️

  12. Ah. Thanks agdr03!

    Good night!

Did you do Ash Wednesday? Be good this Lenten season. I’m still thinking of what to give up for Lent. Maybe kdrama? 😈🙂

  13. Yes. I’m trying to be good as it is Lent. I didn’t realised that the concert last night was Ash Wednesday because I bought the ticket last July 2019. So I went to mass in the morning and did the whole concert thing and got home with the ashes on my forehead still intact. ☺️

We should give up kdramas huh? 😈 Not cdramas though? 😂

  14. Hmmm…

What to give up for Lent.

    ✅ Kdramas. 😂
❌ Cdramas because we still have to finish Dr Cutie.

  15. Aye! 🙋🏻‍♀️

I saw in YouTube that they will live stream episode 28 of Dr Cutie on March 1. So cool. 😊

  16. Didn’t you watch Ep 28 raw already? It’s a happy ending, right? And the brother remained loyal till the end?

  17. No, I only saw bits n pieces of it. Wait, I’ll try to find it.

There below, credit to the owner. 😊

    https://youtu.be/KGt1F2fcWt4

  18. Here’s the funny one that I mentioned before. 😁

    https://youtu.be/fDCvvJHT9Wk

  19. Grrr. I can’t access that link on my iPhone. Will watch it on my laptop later.

Will people kill me if I give CLoY a low grade? 😂 I’m still weighing the pros and cons of the show.

  20. You should be able to, I’m only using iphone7. 🤔

I had that feeling from you about CLOY. 😄 At the end of the day, we just need to be real honest about our own grades. Everyone has their own grades and they’ve put up their reasons behind it so why can’t you have your own? 😉 It’s your grade. 😊

  21. I’m going now girlfriend! No need to kick me with your boots! 😂

    Later! 😃

  22. 🙂 Yes, it’s my grade but it’ll have weight. Whether I like it or not, it will influence how others will view this show.

So, do I pull off the wings of dragonflies or leave them be? If this was a case that I needed to win, I’d go hard. But it’s just drama, at least it’s JUST a drama to me, I can go easy. Kinda like telling a kid yes there’s a Santa Claus because you know it’s kinder to let them believe in something good. 🙂

But yes, my foot-dragging about the final show was a giveaway, right?

  23. Night!

  24. Of course it’ll have weight. But if people will take it in with an open mind then there shouldn’t be a case right? True, it depends how they take it and it’s a choice to just say no, I don’t accept that or yes, I’m fine with that. Like you said, it’s a kdrama. 😊

Yup, it was a dead giveaway. 😊

Sorry I had to go back, I left something at the door. 😂

    Ciao!

  25. Will be looking for something to get adicted to after Dr Cutie. Thank you for the information so far!

Having a quick look, I think it will be another case of the poor male lead having a rough time from his definitely strange leading lady.

  26. I’m getting confused as to wether Zhao Cai is the older brother after watching episode 3 😂 Maybe he had amnesia? 🤷🏻‍♀️

I’ll keep going and so far it’s not overly exciting nor as funny as Dr Cutie but the leads are able to hold my interest so all good.

  27. I’m working on Ep 22, my lord and master. 🙇‍♀️

  28. You! Stop that! 😂😂😂

  29. Yes, ma’am! 🙇‍♀️🙇‍♀️😈

  30. I think he is the older brother.

I’ve been fast-forwarding like crazy though so I might have missed some crucial parts. I’m only watching scenes where they’re together.

I also downloaded iqiyi on my device.

  31. I did download iqiyi too on my iPad but when I go through it and click on the series, it’s still not subbed in English.

I think Xhao Cai is THE ONE. 😃

  32. Update- I downloaded iqiyi on my mobile and it works there. ☺️

Trying to watch episode 4 now. Hopefully I won’t get too annoyed with Zhao Cuo 😤

  33. @pm3, I knew you’d give CLoY a low grade. Why? Because of the reasons you mentioned while giving MoA a high grade of A-. Most of those reasons can’t be said for CLoY. The latter is more a case of a wonderful plot belly flopping by EP 12 as you had forewarned. This is the fundamental difference between television and novels I feel. Well written novels tend to be well thought out till the end. They don’t rely only on a general plot line that looks like it will sell, but on the details and tying all the little ends in a believable manner.

Good storylines make for light bulb moments, not just momentary fuzzy feels. 😌

    (P. S. I was ok with MoA end before because I skipped too much. Now, no more. I’m outraged that Jin Woo is all alone after the end too. CLoY never made me feel any anger. Nor did it ever challenge my brain to have further understanding whether it’s about gaming or existential questions. If I am complaisant about what happens to the characters which was the case with CLoY, the drama was simply okay. Not outstanding. )

*Cries for Jin Woo while infant worries about mother’s sanity*

  34. But yes @pm3, I agree that your opinions matter a lot. I myself see dramas that you have liked with a certain confidence about their quality.

  35. I can’t get into him, this Zhao Cuo. He looks… dirty? If he was my son, I’d ask him to do something about his hair (like brush it maybe?) before coming to see me. The second lead, the handsome guy, is more appealing to my eyes.

But I laughed when he schemed to gross out his father-in-law to-be, and none of his disgusting habits worked. Like having VD because he frequented the whorehouse.

The heroine’s high-pitched, whiny voice is grating on my ears. I want to gag her. Especially when she was trying to convince Zhao Cuo that she’s the younger “sister” in the brothel.

But the other bride, the one she swapped with, is just as annoying.

I like the female lead better when she’s less hyper. She’s fine with the handsome guy investigating the murders. She sounded credible. But whenever she’s with Zhao Cuo, I want to yell at her to calm down, girl.

But then, the director’s frenetic style is also annoying. It’s like a barrel of squawking and cavorting monkeys every scene.

Take the sound effects, for instance. The female lead was ordered by Cuo to sit down. Instead of just showing her sitting down, the director added sound effects to exaggerate every step she took to get the chair and plop down on the chair. The sound effects made her look like a buffoon… which didn’t help me because I was already irritated with her buffoonery.

It’s like watching a pantomime. I don’t mind the exaggerated actions because mime is a silent show. The actors can’t use words to express their feelings so they *act* them out. They exaggerate. They’re over-the-top so the audience can “hear” what’s not being said. The actions compensate for the missing words.

However in this drama, the actors are already over-the-top with their words. She squeals and whine. He yells and whines. The parents nag and whine.

When the already over-the-top gestures are combined with the over-the-top arguing and whining, (not to mention the over-the-top sound effects AND visual effects) the result for me is over-stimulus.

    I get annoyed. 😂

  36. Fair comments. 👍🏻😄

I’m used to seeing the FL lead acting like that because it is similar to the role she played in Find Yourself.

Zhao Cuo on the other hand is way too arrogant for me. I mean he told her to squat and I’m like ok. 😤😁 And he left her there! 🙄 Oh and that whole conversation between Bai (when he caught her when the fire was ongoing) and her weren’t funny to me. 😬 Maybe I’m just being picky after not seeing this scene for a long time.

But yeah some scenes just doesn’t flow properly and yes it can be over the top.

I’ll keep on because I want to see how ZC will grovel to her. He better. 😄

  37. Yes. We’re all about the grovelling. Here’s his prize for grovelling. 🏆

What “squat”? And what “fire”? What episode are you on? I’ve been skipping some scenes. I’m on the episode when Cuo was suspected as the murderer.

  38. I’m only on episode 4 😄 You’re ahead of me.

ZC lost his Dad’s ancestral home by gambling but they cheated. So for revenge, he went to the winner’s house and burned their documents, hoping that the contract is there.

But on the way to escaping his house, he used Sanqi as his support, he told her to squat so he can go onto the roof. 🙅🏻‍♀️Then he did it again while the fire was ongoing and he left her there. That’s when stamp guy found her again.

  39. Lol. I skipped that part then. In Ep 5, she exacted revenge on the cheaters.

Again, that scene would have been fine as is, but the director chose to film it in double-speed, so Sanqi comes rushing in with a pail of dirty water, like an avenging mouse, and splashes the guys.

The effect here is she’s an impulsive and demented person. If filmed in regular speed, she’d come off as a loyal girl protecting her oppa (or whatever they call it in Chinese. “Ge”?)

  40. Oh she really is hyper isn’t she? 😂

  41. Have watched up to Ep. 7

Hmmn, maybe it’s just me but there aren’t as many “laugh out loud’ funny parts as I was expecting. My favorite funny part would be Zhao Cuo’s father shadow boxing with himself while FL and ML are talking in the jail cell. Talk about random! Hahah! ML is (finally) starting to soften towards FL and not treat her so badly. I liked how the female lead calmed down some and was using her brain to solve the murder mystery in these episodes. Things should start getting interesting now that she has discovered that 2nd male lead has the “grimace face” and could possibly be her “immortal brother”.

  42. Skipped through a few episodes, but not hooked at all like I was on Dr Cutie.

I do like the way that when she looks at the camera it is like looking at you personally. Liked that her background is from a family of undertakers, so she sleeps in a coffin (so the neighbours think she is a vampire?) and is more comfortable dealing with the dead than the living – typical behaviour for a pathologist! Also, find his father to be amusing, being pleased his son is now married.

I don’t find her silly, but do find Zhao Cuo to be a waste of time with little to offer. What I didn’t like was how rude he was when they met.

    From the male perspective…

When they met, male ego would have kicked in – “it’s no suprise an attractive woman like her is throwing herself at me – everybody knows I am wonderful”. I would have said something like “I’m sorry, but I think you have the wrong man” then because of the hormone boost of physical contact would have found an excuse to keep the conversation going. I most certainly not have said she was ugly to her face.

  43. Thanks, HEHarry. Your answer would have been the most decent one. “I’m sorry but I think you have the wrong guy.” You’re playing down the embarrassing moment for you (because you were practically accosted by this stranger) and for her (ordinarily, she should have been mortified).

Zhao Cuo doesn’t appeal to me one bit. I like my heroes more industrious and purposeful.

If you find a nice Cdrama for us to watch, just give me or agdr03 shoutout.

  44. I haven’t gotten back to this one, think I’m on episode 5.

Yeah coming from JH and Xiao Nai, it’s hard to like Zhao Cuo. He’s not bringing nice things to the table. I’m just waiting for him to be nice but it might take awhile? 😬

You know what I’ve been binging on? My first cdrama love. 😂 Love O2O. 🥰

  45. Does it have a happy ending though???

  46. I don’t know. I stopped at Ep 12. 🙂
    Didn’t like it.

  47. @Alexandra, I also stopped watching it, but tried to check out the last episode… I was interrupted halfway, … if you’re asking about a happy romance, it looked like, yes. However, the plot has moved on to a power struggle and I saw the part of the battle between the good guys and the bad guys. I’m also assuming on that front, yes, because the mood of the whole show was never dour and the battle was somewhat optimistic. I’ll try and watch the end over the weekend. 😉
