100 Comments On “Dr. Cutie: Eps 16 – 20 Open Thread”

  1. Oh my goodness! What a sight! 😍

  2. Haha. Knew you’d appreciate it. 😂 I saw it and said “That’s it! Just that one!”

  3. The pic was perfect to get me in the mood. 😂

    I’m ready Boss! 😆

  4. You’re the boss, I’m just following you.
    Okay, we’re on.

  5. Aaaah.

How could I have forgotten this episode? The famous “rain” punishment and guilty JH.

I should have watched Eps 24 and 25 before doing this rewatch. I think I would appreciate this better if I knew what he had to suffer for her in return.

Please remind me to watch them this weekend.

  6. Promise, I will. ☺️

Poor TQ, just seeing Lord Sunri makes her blood boil. 😔

  7. Yes it’s the rain scene where there’s no hug / kiss or pulling scenes. 😂

I wish there was one for this couple.

I’m glad JH had back up evidence regarding Lord Sunri’s sons bullying.

  8. I thought JH was so evil here.

    If you think about this:

He just had that meeting with TQ and JZ to force JZ to marry another girl. He timed everything so that after his “marriage” coercion, he was going to deal with TQ and Congrui.

Like how Macchiavelian was that? He was plotting and scheming to address not one, not two, but three issues that morning.

I couldn’t believe that ‘he juggling everything at once.

  9. It hurts my ear when I hear people say shut up. 🙍🏻‍♀️ I prefer be quiet.

See, JH can easily put two and two together regarding TQ’s hatred of Lord Sun but he doesn’t know the real truth about it and TQ couldn’t say it to him.

He did get what he wanted for the people, the lower taxes but in exchange for not punishing Lord Sun’s son.

  10. And how he could use TQ as bait? With no warning?

He was testing TQ’s reactions to see if TQ knew this Sun Congrui and had motives to instigate the problem with the Marquis and Congrui’s son.

And he wanted Sun Congrui to agree to pay more taxes.

That’s sneaky of him. Killing two birds with one stone. Hmmph!

  11. @agdr03, is that your Christmas present? 😁

JH is indeed competent at multi-tasking.

    Have a good watch, @packmule3 and @agdr03.

  12. “I thought JH was so evil here.“

True. His pushing for what he wants without really considering how JZ and TQ feels about their situation.

I guess he wanted to get it over and done with, because he has the power. 🤦🏻‍♀️

  13. Yes, he really did a lot of prepping this day.

He had done research on the possible wives for Ji Zheng.

And he also had gathered all the testimonies of the son’s bullying.

General Ji had been pretty busy.

  14. That pic is my “Don’t be depressed” present for agdr03. He is a cutie, isn’t he? Reminds me of a puppy.

lol. We all need a little bit of help nowadays. Mental health is important, too.

  15. @Fern, my late Christmas gift was handsome indeed. 😂 Join us.

  16. The pic of HJJ has a nickname too. I love it! Already made my brain happy. 😍😘

  17. lol. TQ reminded me of a bull. Ji Heng just waved the red flag in the shape of Lord Sun. What did Ji Heng expect really? Goading her like that. He couldn’t just tell her to “shut up.”

Sun: Oh… so the doctor is the man? Then he must be the Marquis Marvel’s man. Two big men who bullied my son together. Such behavior. General, shouldn’t you discipline them?
TQ: (indignant) My lord, even though I’m a nobody, I also have integrity. What’s more, this issue concerns Marquis Marvel. If this is going to go to court, I’ll also make it clear.

    Sun: You!

JH: (stepping in) In addition, in this petition from many locals, are complaints from people accusing your son of harassing women, preying on ordinary people, and putting on gang fights. What’s more, he blocked my carriage on the street, trying to embarrass me. If I report all this to the court, I don’t know what His Majesty would say

He was just focused on getting Lord Sun to sign on to his tax deal. Forget about Tian Qi.

Sun: (backing down) General. You and I are both ministers in the court. You’ve always been reasonable. So on this thing –
TQ: (interrupting) My lord, it won’t be reasonable to forgive such a person.
    Sun: You!
JH: (angrily, because she was going to upset his plans) Tian Qi. Shut up.

    Grrr…

If I were TQ, I’d continue yapping. lol. Good thing TQ was more obedient!

  18. It has a nickname? What nickname?

  19. Oh that hurt! 😭😡

Did you think I’d use a sword to Sun’s family for you? You’re just a doctor!

Wasn’t it just episode 15 when he said if someone bullies her he’s her shield? What the heck happened? 🤦🏻‍♀️

By the way, I like the scenery when JH and Mr Shen walked away, you can see the trees, the two houses(?) and TQ by herself.

  20. It has a nickname? What nickname?

Nickname – my happy pill. 😂

  21. I thought JH was ignoring TQ’s personal problem for the greater good of trying to raise taxes to save lives. I think that he was trying to get her point of view to help his cause, but she was focused on her revenge more than he anticipated, and of course, he doesn’t know how her history relates to Sun.

  22. Yes, getting Lord Congrui to sign on to pay taxes was realpolitik’ing.

He won against Lord Congrui but he lost Tian Qi.

I liked how TQ was chasing after him still trying to get him to change his mind. She really thought she could influence him. Sigh. She still had a long way to go.

TQ: My lord. You just let them get away with it?
JH: At this point, we should consider overall interests. Never act rashly.
TQ: I understand that we should consider overall interests. But letting off the Sun family? Isn’t it fair for the people? Isn’t it bureaucratism?

  23. Oh don’t bother looking at TQ because she’s carrying on with her punishment. Just eat your dinner!

Why did he bother asking Mr Shen whether she’s still kneeling when he was the one who put her there. 😖

    Even visits her. Whatever! 😒

  24. But I understood Ji Heng’s position, too.

If TQ felt betrayed because of he “favored” Lord Sun’s petition over her complaints,
Then Ji Heng also felt betrayed. Twice over, too.

He felt betrayed because a) she didn’t pick a husband for JZ, and b) he saw that she was hiding from him about her involvement with the Sun family.

If I were JH, I too would have doubted her loyalty and wondered if she was just using her closeness to me to get what she really secretly wanted.

I like this whole scene because their accusations/bad feelings were equally reasonable and counter-weighted.

  25. Yes, he leveraged Lord Sun’s son. lol.

I know he didn’t have to tell TQ of his plans because she was only a doctor.

But he should have at least been more lenient with her when she protested afterwards. He did USE her.

    I’m siding with TQ.

  26. Yes, he was using TQ’s personal problem for the greater good. And that’s very Machiavellian. Unethical.

I wish he found another way to resolve his political problem instead of dragging TQ there and using her as bait.

Or at least told her what he intended to do. Or have been more understanding when she began nagging him about his move afterwards.

Shucks. I should have watched Eps 24 and 25 before this….

  27. True @Fern that he did help the people. I think the writer did a good job on putting that bargaining for TQ to feel that she really was let down by JH.?

  28. Should we stop and watch episode 24 instead? 😄

  29. Oh of course! TQ didn’t side with his chosen bride for JZ and her secret that she cannot reveal to him.

TQ is only a physician of the mansion. Go ask you’re Mom instead. 😂

  30. “Or at least told her what he intended to do.”

I think this would work better because at least TQ can convince him of why he can’t do it that way even if he declines it in the end.

  31. I’m savoring the angsty moment.

JH: In what capacity are you talking to me? You’re a doctor. The doctor’s duty is saving people, not interfering in politics. It’s none of your business. Do you know I can convict you by the national law?

    He was pulling ranks here.

Ha! When he couldn’t defend his decision morally, TO HER FACE, then he started attacking her position.

This is a logic flaw. It’s ad hominen. Attacking her instead of explaining what really happened.

TQ: Of course I know who I am. I only spoke the truth. Letting the Sun family off, won’t it…won’t it make people disappointed?

And he got even more upset by this.

JH: Speaking of the truth, the first time you and Zheng ran into Sun Fan. The second time, you and I ran into Sun Fan. What a coincidence. Don’t you think? Also, the look on your face when seeing Sun Congrui today, are you hiding something from me?

Again, another logic flaw. This is “What about you?” argument. He knew TQ was right. He was turning a blind eye to Sun’s corruption and other public charges against the family, so he could get his tax plan passed (lol. just like politicians. They have to deal with the lesser of two evils).

But he should have told TQ what he really was up to.

He was obviously hurt by her criticisms and he was defending himself. Unfortunately, he wasn’t doing a good job of it. He wasn’t being rational.

  32. Just go ahead and watch, okay.

It’s taking me long to write my “angsty” reactions to Ep 16. lol.

  33. No. it’s okay. Let me watch them first on my own. so we can have a RE-watch afterwards.

  34. JH’s lack of communication in advance meant that he and TQ lost a portion of trust in each other. To me, it starts out balanced. He knows she hates Sun but he has no idea of the role Sun played, so can’t imagine her reaction. She wasn’t given notice of his tactics, so ends up over-reacting for his purposes and gets punished for obstruction and insubordination. In 21st century culture, this sort of punishment seems odd, but it probably is standard for historical dramas. Even so, he went over on the duration – even he admitted it. Sheng was obliged to restrain JH to keep his image when TQ fainted.

  35. Okie about episode 24 re-watch. 😊

When things didn’t go his way and then she questions his political dealings then he can be irrational now. ☹️

  36. I agree. The writer did a good job of putting everything on a weighing scale. That’s why I said their competing interests were equally balanced.

On one side, there’s the people who were feeling the effects of the drought, and then will still have to pay taxes.
On the other side, there’s TQ’s personal problem AND the people’s complaints against the Sun family’s corruption and abuses.

Even if you take away TQ from the equation, the problem would still be people vs people.

He chose to solve the immediate problem, taxes, but he was going to solve the corruption and abuses later on. He SHOULD HAVE TOLD TQ that.

Full disclosure. That’s all he had to do.

That would have given her a rationale to wait patiently till her complaints are readdressed in good time. She would have been appeased.

  37. ”Sheng was obliged to restrain JH to keep his image when TQ fainted.“

Yeah, JH wanted to help her with that one step forward. He was already thinking too that maybe he did overreact.

  38. Hahaha.

Ever since I started kdramas, I stopped consider “kneeling” a cruel and unjust punishment. (Remembering “Goong” here)

I just shrugged and went “Whatever” because one, it is a plot device; two, it’s historically accurate. Like you said, they DID those kinds of things during that time, and three, it’s harsh and incorrect to judge 18th, 19th century sensibilities from our 21st century standpoint. It’s like looking down on neanderthals for using campfire to cook their food because they didn’t have a microwave. lol.

  39. There he is, swaggers again when walking out of TQ’s home after she fainted. 😄

To appease TQ, hot ginger soup, porridge and vegetables. Yeah I’ll take it. 😆

  40. Yes.

    His facial contortion, though!

pwahahaha. I shouldn’t laugh. He did a little better at wiggling those eyebrows to show “pain and guilt” than other actors like cough cough Cha Eun Woo (or whatever his name was) and that guy from Extraordinary You. What was his name? Rowoon?? lol.

They all look alike to me.

  41. Oh TQ is social distancing from JZ here. 😁

But it’s too late because JZ’s feelings for her are definite now.

  42. I would have asked for wine, too.
    Oh yeahhhh. JH didn’t drink.

It’s funny how we’re figuring out what the ideal hero is for this writer. Doesn’t drink, sexually repressed, reads all day, military strategist, cares for the poor, is celibate, swaggers.

    lol.

  43. Ya! It’s contorted enough to look like he felt bad for punishing her. 😂

See? He already recommended Sun Fan (Lord Sun’s son) to be sent to the calamity areas to help out his Majesty. Serve the people. 👍🏻

    JH is a workaholic. 😆

  44. You know,

I think JZ is more in love with her (although he doesn’t consider it love because he thinks she’s a guy, lolololol) than she is with him.

He’s more concerned about her good opinion about him that she is about his.

That’s why he got triggered earlier when she was pushing him and pointing out that he was wrong to let Lord Sun go. Her opinions mattered.

Essentially he’s not the tsundere. He’s also trying to sort these political maneuverings since this is his first time. He’d been at war all the time and he just returned to a peace-time province. That’s why Ji Zheng said he would help him restore civil order and peace.

And that’s why TQ’s rapid-fire argument caught him off-guard. We’ve got to see that he overreacted there. His anger was understandable but it is what it is. An overreaction.

  45. Serve the people, my foot. He knew it was a punishment. See? If he had told TQ about his plan, TQ would have been happy.

But I like what he did later when he ordered Ji Zheng to accompany TQ to watch the Sun family be carted away to prison. That was good catharsis for TQ.

  46. It’s funny how we’re figuring out what the ideal hero is for this writer. Doesn’t drink, sexually repressed, reads all day, military strategist, cares for the poor, is celibate, swaggers.

Hmm, when you list it that way, I don’t mind it.? 😂😂😂

  47. I agree, JH is more in love with TQ. It matters to him what she says. Maybe it started with that talk that they had when he opened up to her about his insomnia and feeling guilty about people dying because of him.

Oh it is punishment for Sun Fan because he’s lazy. 😁

  48. Continuing with the dialogue

JH: (looking at her intently) On your knees. Do you really think I’m a person you can easily deceive? Or do you think I’ll never kill you no matter what you say?
TQ: I dare not. If your lordship think I am wrong, please punish me.

lol. TQ was so over-the-top here. “Please punish meeee!” But yes, she knew that she got him here. Deep inside, JH knew that she was right. But he was juggling a lot of things, and he had to prioritize.

    1. get Lord Sun to approve his tax plan to provide instant relief to the people
    2. indict the Sun family for corruption and abuse after that
    3. solve TQ’s problem whatever that was

TQ: I did it on purpose. That guy humiliated me many times. And he made you believe that I misled the Marquis Marvel. I hate him. I hate his father more as he didn’t teach him well. That’s why I want your lordship to punish him.

There. This was the TQ’s emotional appeal. She was personally appealing to him to avenge her.

And I’ve written before that this was her first time to rely on another person to help her out. And she was pinning her hope on him.

And to me, it was a unfair of her, too, to suddenly dump all this on him. Sure, he said he was going to be her shield. But come on now. Her timing was off.

JH: Listen. I’ll do nothing to the Sun family. The Sun family humiliated you. You just bear it. Do you really think I’ll punish the Sun family for a little doctor?

Ouch. That was mean and uncalled for. He shouldn’t have demeaned her.

I get that he was retaliating because he was hurt too. This was like their first lovers’ quarrel.

But he didn’t have to be so callous about it. Just grin and bear it. Hmph!

What about his, “If someone bullies you, remember that you’re my man, and I’m your shield”?

  49. JH: (continuing) Dr. Tian is becoming arrogant because of my favor. I’ll punish him by kneeling to reflect on himself. Without my permission, he can never get up.
    TQ: I’ll accept the punishment.

I already said that I like TQ when she said that. I would have done the same thing. I wouldn’t have let him know that I was hurt. Ha.

I would even kneel on uncooked beans just to prove him that I wasn’t hurt by what he said.

  50. Oh I didn’t realised TQ friend zoned JZ here. Poor JZ, offering her 30% too of income or more if she comes to work for him. He’s really saving her incase she gets find out to be a girl.

  51. lol.

No. I don’t think he’d work for you agdr03. I think you would want a guy to go to church with you, too.

    I know youuuuuuu.

  52. Oh that hurts a lot, kneeling on uncooked beans. 😔 But you’re right, I wouldn’t show him that he hurt me too. I’d accept my punishment and take it in.

Yes, she really didn’t have anyone to do this revenge with but she can’t expect him to just give her justice when she can’t even say who she really is.

  53. Oh my goodness! I forgot about church! That was my first priority on my husband to be list. Seriously. 🙋🏻‍♀️😂

  54. I like the “evolution” of his feelings here.

When he first passed by to check on her kneeling, he wasn’t moved to forgive her yet. He was still upset with her.

He must have forgotten about her while he was reading.

He was called to dinner, and he still didn’t remember that she was out there.

Then the rain came. He observed “It’s raining” and Mr. Sheng said, “Yes, it’s raining very hard.”

That’s when he remembered that he had ordered TQ to kneel outside and that she was still out there.

So he asked Mr Sheng, “Tian Qi, is he still on his knees?”

Duhhhhhh… he was the only one who could order her punishment over.

He sighed because now he remembered that he left her there. So he told Mr. Sheng to get her out of there. “Let him go back to reflect.” “I’ll arrange now” Mr Sheng said quickly.

And that’s when he decided. he’ll go do it himself. His conscience suddenly came alive.

he signaled for Mr. Sheng and Mr. Sheng gave TQ the command. I hated how it was said, “Tian Qi, the General is KINDHEARTED” like what??

“He let you go to your room and reflect. Hurry and show your gratitude.”

    Like what the heck? lol.

But she still obeyed the command and stumbled to get up. She said, thank you and then she fainted.

How dramatic was that??? lol. She said thank you just before fainting. That was meant to stab his heart, of course. She was thanking him for almost punishing him to the point of exhaustion.

That’s when it turned to guilt. Instead of worrying about his pride and anger, he was worried for her. He realized that he did wrong.

That’s why he looked upset when he visited her. He went overboard.

    And he said so.

JH: …It’s true that I did a bit overboard.
Mr. Sheng: My lord, Dr. Tian is your subordinate. His first consideration should be you. Not others. Your punishment is to make him understand the rules. I believe Dr. Tian will understand it.
JH: (with disbelief) Really? These days he serves me with extreme caution, fearing of making mistake. Not daring to say one word. It makes me uncomfortable.

Mr. Sheng was trying to ease his conscience. But he knew he did wrong.

  55. @agdr03, do you mind if we continue this another time?

I’ve to watch Eps 24 and 25 first before commenting again on her “conscience” scene.

  56. Aww now JH is missing her chitchat while she fans him. Too bad, no talk for you tonight. 🤷🏻‍♀️

I liked that Grandpa Sheng was there to enlighten her too about the Sun family and to make TQ understand that JH couldn’t side with her straight away.

This goes back to if only they know each other’s plans then this would have been sorted nicely.

  57. Yes, that fanning.

It was funny how he thought she would protest when he told her to go back to her room to sleep and ordered her not to sleep on the couch in his room like she normally did.

TQ just said fine. lol. She’d sleep in her room.

Normally, TQ would have gone to overdrive trying to figure out what she’d done wrong to displease him and to insist that she’d stay. But nooo. This time, she answered, “Yes.”

    Without sputtering anything else.

  58. No worries. That’s fine. Let me know when you want to re-visit this episode ok. 😊 You need to finish this series properly. 😉

I am tired today because I finally did some exercise but through the Wii sports game. 😂I did a lot of the boxing ones so my arms have stretched. I feel it’ll be sore tomorrow. 😬

  59. Ha! That Grandpa Sheng is ALWAYS on Ji Heng’s side.

I’m glad that he explained everything. See? The disclosure of the truth, like sunlight, is the best disinfectant.

  60. Yes, let’s rewatch this another time.

Because I can’t analyze her TQ’s feelings without knowing what she said to him when she stabbed him.

I want to know if she was being sincere here or not.

For me, Ji Heng had always been consistent in his actions. Consistent in the sense that he wasn’t going to deviate from the norms of a “romantic hero.” But TQ was an outlier. lol. She’s the only one that I know who stabbed her man.

So let’s continue this another time. Thanks!!

  61. Yeah she’s waiting on JH’s groveling. 😄

He thought they can just forget about the whole thing and move on but nope.

  62. I like that, it was their first lovers quarrel. True. 😊

Their first serious and getting to know talk was the one when she touched his brows to clear it up.

Technically they got together after he saves her from his mother’s evil plan using the shaman. 😊

  63. I like how she gave him the silent treatment. lol.

He saw her deep in thought and asked her.

JH: What are you thinking? You looked so absorbed.
    TQ: Nothing.
JH: You used to mention a lot of ways to cure insomnia? Why don’t you mention it now?

In other words, he wanted her chatting to him again. Rambling about her cures or making plans to entertain him (like the trip to the market). But she wasn’t talking to him.

Not only that. She looked scared. When he sat up in bed, she unconsciously backed away. And she remained bowing.

TQ: I didn’t think carefully. I used some untested methods on my lord’s precious body. It’s disrespect.

And he must have remembered how she almost burned him with that incense stick. lol.

And you’re right. He thought he could forget this mistake of his and have the same working relationship with her… without apologies.

    No, sirreee.

  64. TQ stands up, says thank you My Lord and faints.

It was very dramatic now that you mentioned it. 😆 Who wouldn’t feel guilty watching that happen?

Oh and yeah the way the pardon was relayed by Mr Sheng. 🤦🏻‍♀️ And she has to reflect on what she did too! 😒

  65. Yes, if they were in a normal girl-boy relationship, then yes, that whole shaman episode would have marked a turning point in their relationship. With his mother’s disapproval gone, that would have meant that they were free to date.

But since this is a weird set-up, they couldn’t really tell where they are, what stage they’re in, in a normal relationship.

We can, however, because we’re viewing this.

  66. I’d like you to analyse TQ’s feelings anyway because of her stabbing. I want to better understand it too.

  67. That whole rain was so deliciously dramatic. It was so cheesy but I wouldn’t have it any other way.

For me, this beats the Goong kneeling scene. The Goong princess was just kneeling in a room. And she had knee pads, right?

This one, TQ was kneeling on stone, in the pouring rain! You can’t beat rain. Nothing can beat cold stinging rain.

    lol.

  68. Funny not only does he like her fanning him but her talkative self too, to put him to sleep. 😁 It’s a lullaby for him. Ha!

He noticed the silent treatment straight away. Take that! 😤

  69. Rain and thunder!

    Sooo cheesy together. 😂

I can’t remember the kneeling scene in Goong now. I need to revisit that now so I can compare too. 😁

  70. it was also annoying that Mr Sheng had to RELAY the pardon.

I know he didn’t say that HE personally had to be one to declare her punishment ended. He said, “Without my permission, he can never get up.”

But I thought it was a cop-out because he already decided to walk out there to see her.

But then, it’s all for dramatic effect. TQ couldn’t be ACCUSED of fainting to get his sympathy because she didn’t see him there until the last seconds. All she heard was Mr Sheng telling her to get up. When she got up to turn around, she was obviously too weak to stand up on her own.

    Nice acting, btw.

  71. Isn’t it weird how fast people notice “silent treatments” when they’re supposed to be “silent”?

I like that. Her chatting = lullaby to his ears.

  72. Oh I agree. He should have said it instead of Mr Sheng. He gave the punishment.

Yup, good acting by Sun Qian here. To think she was still being playful when she was kneeling on the bts footage. 😄

  73. Mr. Sheng was taking JH’s side and defending his harsh punishment.

    “Is it too much?”
Mr. Sheng reasoned that he had the “right” since he was her lord and master.

But I wonder if Mr. Sheng was acting like a devil’s advocate because the more Mr. Sheng was giving him support and validating his punishment of TQ, the more he felt that he did wrong. and that he went overboard.

So he told Mr. Sheng. ““Think carefully. Sun Fan slandered Tian Qi and Zheng. Tian Qi can’t do anything to him. He wants Sun Fan punished with my hand. That’s reasonable. But what makes me angry is that he got in trouble, he didn’t tell me in the first place. But I punished him like that. It’s true that I did a little over.”

Mr. Sheng was a devil’s advocate. lol.

I’ve to check the viki sub for this.

  74. lol. I was going to mention the BTS, too.

But wasn’t there a BTS scene, too, when they were drying her off with the towel afterwards?

  75. hahaha. Our logic is funny: Since Ji Heng gave the punishment, he should be the one to revoke the punishment, too!!! Not Mr. Sheng!

Actually, I only wanted to hear him sound guilty and repentant, and choke on the words. lol. 🙂 (where’s my evil emoji?)

  76. It’s the silence that gets to them. That’s like when my sister or any of us doesn’t update on our family WhatsApp. It means something’s up. 😄

  77. Hmp! TQ didn’t asked for help because he already said that she’s his shield. Let’s get the facts straight here. 😂

Yes watch the subs when you watch episode 24 and 25.

  78. Yes there was a bts of SQ in a big towel and staff were drying her. 😊

  79. Yeah, he would start by faking a little cough and then says, TQ, you can go to your room now and rest. 😒

  80. Buzzing off now. 😴😴😴

    Thanks 😊

  81. Will do.

Okay see you tomorrow!! I’ve to read and answer my office’s texts now. lol. I left my work phone in the other room but I could hear it buzzing non-stop. hahaha.

  82. Good night! Thank you too!

  83. @agdr03, I hope that you and your family are hanging in there. Someone suggested that kids could keep a diary or video diary. The reasoning is that this is unprecedented and will be interesting to see in years to come.

My younger daughter was skipping rope in the garden and doing a workout in her room after ‘school’ yesterday. Older daughter has moved into the basement because we are all too much for her 24/7.😅

  84. @packmule3, I hope that you and yours are all well. Obvs. I don’t know where you live, but I heard that parts of the east coast have a high incidence. I have a brother in south CT and worry about him and his family.

I hope that you and yours stay safe.

  85. Thanks @Fern , we’re still ok. 😊 I hope you as well. I think I’ve already started the video diary because yesterday we had to wait for hubby to come back from my Mom, we went for a walk but I didn’t have keys. So boys were doing skateboarding and doing acrobatics on our mail box like sitting all over it. 😆

Oh I want to do skipping rope too! 😁 It’s a good thing you have a basement where your eldest daughter can hide from you. 😂

  86. “So boys were doing skateboarding and doing acrobatics on our mail box like sitting all over it. 😆” and you got it on video. Well done, @agdr03. YES, record all of those moments where you are a cool mom for future proof. Lol.

We have a funny house. It is an old and skinny and tall in a row of 6. It’s on a slope and there is a daylight cellar that a former owner made into a ‘granny flat’ decades ago. It is quite outdated, but works as a temporary spot for her to flee the family. When he was in High School, my oldest brother moved into our family’s basement which wasn’t even finished (concrete floor and walls). I thought it was very cool.

  87. I think that is cool, being able to have your own space but still living with your family. 😊

I’m not sure about the cool mom as they kept saying my forehead is shiny. 🤦🏻‍♀️😤 I’ve naturally oily skin. 😁

  88. Harrumph. Skin oil keeps you looking younger in the long run. You have my permission to administer a forehead flick to them. 😆

  89. Hahaha , thanks @Fern , I’ll remember that next time. 😁

  90. @agdr03, I hope that you have more good moments with your family and your Mom today to record. Mine yesterday was my husband and daughters playing marathon Monopoly whilst listening to Abba played VERY loud. I excused myself on the basis of 1. not clever enough to play after even 1 glass of wine, 2. they requested a chocolate layer cake and I was on call for that, 3. their arguments (called banter here) + loud Abba hurt my ears.

  91. Good morning @Fern! ☺️

You’re not into ABBA? 😂 I wouldn’t have minded the loudness if it’s ABBA. 😄 Sounds like fun, the Monopoly marathon. Glad you and your family are good. Boys and I went to walk again and youngest played with a drone plane? No camera in it. It was fun and we enjoyed it but it’s the last time we can go to the park/playground. It’s closed by tomorrow.

I’m actually having a dizzy spell. 🥴 I got home and my head was spinning. It’s not bad now but will rest it early today. Think my bp is up.

  92. Oh no! Take care of yourself, agdr03!

    Happy Sunday!

  93. Happy Sunday to you too! Thanks 😊

  94. @agdr03, could it be low bp? Do you have a bp machine at home to check? Could be inner-ear, too. You might take your temperature (please). I hope it sorts itself out very soon.

I like ABBA, too, it suited the occasion. I just needed a bit of P&Q. 🤫

  95. Happy Sunday @packmule3.

  96. No temperature, thank God. It can be low bp too but I haven’t got a bp machine. I’ll borrow Mom’s tomorrow. Thanks @Fern.

Hopefully a good sleep will fix it. I’ve already drank my bp tablet too. ☺️

  97. 💐🌹🎈And to you too, @Fern!

Can you believe how fast time flies? It’s the last Sunday of the month!

  98. I know. Easter soon. It will be strange this year with many churches closed here and no extended family get-togethers.

I had a call from my brother and his wife yesterday, which was a relief. They said they lived in the epicentre of their state but so far, so good. They are very cautious people and are having cocktail parties with their friends via Zoom. Lol. I sent them a copy of Gin Lane by Hogarth.

  99. I checked. Connecticut currently has a ventilator and bed shortage, but according to some models, the C-virus is projected to peak in 11 days, around April 10. The state has time to get those beds and ventilators by then and move them around to specific counties in the state needing them.

Their problem is their proximity to New York, New York City in particular, which is the hot spot. 🙂 New Yorkers fled to their weekend/summer homes in Connecticut. (I’m staying out of the politics of why New York City became a hot spot….)

Just think of US as the EU. Some states adopted a more timely, proactive and strategic defense against this C-virus. And some states are more judicious. When you read reports on the newspapers, just remember: it’s stupid to expect one policy for all states. Just because New York is on a lockdown doesn’t mean that Wisconsin, Kansas or states in the middle of the country should go on a lockdown, too. They have different timelines when it comes to the C-virus peaking in their states.

Also some states have many teaching/university hospitals than others. More hospitals = more beds, obviously.

For instance, California has no bed shortages projected right now, partly because of the number of hospitals associated with the university system. But then, they do have the most number of homeless people who can’t do social distancing. So we’ll see how the state manages them but I’m confident that the Californians will create a way. Then, you have Texas which has no bed shortages as of current projections. Texas is also a state with lots of medical research institutes and hospitals, hence the number of beds available is greater than projected need. Moreover, Texas is big. Social distancing should be easy. 🙂

There are 50 states (or 50 countries, if you want to think of it that way) and each state governor (like the president of an independent country) should know the resources he has readily at hand and and still need to procure to fight this C-virus. The president of the USA steps in when the governor asks for federal assistance. That’s why I said, Americans have to be united now. Now’s not the time to think like a Balkan state (i.e., Bosnia, Serbia, Kosovo, etc) and start waging war against each other. I already told my family that we’re not donating or fundraising for any politician who’s been hyper-partisan. They’re not helpful so why should we help their reelection? The money can go to international charities which will need more financial assistance because of this pandemic. 🙂

  100. For your eyes.

My brother and sister in law said the local high incidence was traced to a very large birthday party in their town a while back before the concern about social distance. One or more of the people passed it on to many others who kept passing it along. Just bad luck and bad timing.

She would agree with you that Americans need to be united now. Certainly it’s easier here in a geographically smaller nation to get united legislation. Even so, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland passed measures before England. England gave itself a different timeline based on modelling which updates constantly. The Republic of Ireland was first of all to go into lockdown but that could be because they are still in the EU or simply prudent.

It’s all so interesting and rapid. Hindsight will hopefully educate us as to procedures to try in the future. Thank you for your insight on the variables between states.
