The King: Trailers 3 & 4

Didn’t want to flood my blog with “The King: Eternal Monarch” posts so I’ll just add this here.

Endings of Kim Eun Sook’s dramas

2010 Secret Garden: happy
2012 A Gentleman’s Dignity: ?? (didn’t watch it)
2013 The Heirs: happy
2016 Descendants of the Sun: happy (but lead actors dated, married then divorced)
2016 Goblin: open ending, reconciled after death  (I believe it was happy ending. Read my explanation here)
2018 Mr. Sunshine: sad, all died except for female lead (…because of the concept of “han” remember?)
2020 The King: Eternal Monarch: ????

  1. I’m really excited to see it! It looks beautiful and fun!
WDH and KKN on my screen is good point too 😀

  2. Mmmm, blood-spattered cheekbones…

  3. Ooh! My Woo Do Hwan is looking good in the trailer. Both teasers have been posted on SBS YouTube:

    Trailer #3

    Trailer #4

  4. Awesome! I’ll edit and post these trailers instead of the tweets.

    Thanks, @ Table122000!

  5. Yaaay..Thank you @Table122000 and @packmule3! Those two pillars in the woods as portal to an alternate world somehow give me the Stonehenge feels, don’t know why..

Nicer visuals than the last trailer..let’s hope for the best🤞🤞🤞

  6. Stonehenge feels? Probably because some people think those rock formation is a portal to a different reality.

I thought those arches looked like the Arc de Triomphe. Seoul has its gates that could have been copied, though.

  7. No problem, @pm3. Glad I could help.
@Phoenix-yeah, I got Stonehenge vibes from those rock formations as well. I’m sure it’s probably some famous ancient monument in South Korea, maybe Jeju island? I thought I read somewhere they have a lot of pre-historic sites. The Arc De Triomphe looking arch must be some famous monument in Seoul, too.
EDIT: OK, I think the arch is the Independence Gate in Seoul. According to Wikipedia, this monument was modeled after the Arc de triomphe in Paris. Here’s the article with a photo:

Turns out they do have monoliths in South Korea, but none of the photos resembles what’s in the trailer, so maybe that is made up for the drama?

  8. @Table122000 Interesting..I didn’t know they had Stone Age monoliths in Korea! Though you are right..those pillars look different. In fact, even that modern gate looks a bit different from the Independence Day gate photo. I think both are sets created for the drama or CGI generated.

Whatever it is, I like Lee Min Ho in black😎

  9. @Phoenix- Yes, I agree with you they are all probably just created for this drama. I guess they even have a magic flute since we see it right at the beginning. The stone pillars/monoliths are in a forest and it I remember correctly from the previous trailer, LMH and the white horse are in a forest when he gallops to modern day Seoul. So those rocks must be the gateway for his world to the parallel worlds. I think they even have writing on them in the trailer. And , yes, LMH is looking good in these promos!:-)
