  1. 😂 I should ask Hubby to try that kissing in the rain and see how it feels. 🤣

Thank you for the new thread! 🍪🍪🍪

Oh you can’t have the cookies, your about to sleep. Have it tomorrow. 😁 Goodnight! 😉

  2. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

Thanks @pkml3. LOL those gifs. Strangely, I’m not entirely comfortable with kissing scenes. I watch them with a squint. As for the one above, I actually FFDed and didn’t go back to watch it, therefore I’m actually watching it properly for the first time in the gifs LOL. Are there many ‘rained-on-couplekissing’ scenes where the umbrella is dropped? I didn’t notice if this was ever a thing. (¬ -̮ ¬) ★~(◠‿◕✿)

  3. Thank you @pkml3 for these gifs! I even enjoyed that smile Lee Yeon gave to Ji Ah!

    @GB I haven’t encountered any! LMAO!

@agdr03 Let’s have a stash in Cookies then!

    *Kinda anxious about today’s episode…*

  4. Oooh thanks for the gifs, @packmul3! I missed ep. 9-10 because of too much sudden workload 🙁 @GB I love kissing scenes…LOL…and I remember that famous rain couple kissing scene where the umbrella drops in MOA…I didn’t even complain that it came out of the blue!!!
I love the boxing ring kissing scene in DITK (@agdr03: Girlfriend, yes our favorite one).
Enjoy the new episodes, everyone! I’m planning on catching on all 4 together on Friday 🙂

  5. Go for it, @agdr03!!!!!! Kissing in the rain with your hubby sounds fun (you can even carry an umbrella and throw it off for extra k-drama effect) 😉

  6. 🙂 Why am I not surprised that you were uncomfortable with those kisses, GB?

I really don’t like to see OPEN-mouth kisses. I mean, I KNOW they have to be done because the fish kiss/open-eyed kiss looks dumb.

But I feel for the actors everytime I see open-mouth kisses (not to mention, nude scenes….) They’re performing for money. They get PAID to do the job right. They have to do it convincingly in one go, or there’ll be another take.

If I were in their shoes, I’d feel icky being slobbered over by a colleague (no matter how handsome he is) if I don’t feel sexually attracted to him. Not even for a million dollars. I’d feel like I was prostituting my body. (But hey, I can prostitute my lips for a billion dollars, hahaha)

  7. Hey, speaking of kisses in the rain, the WORST rainy kiss ever was the Spiderman kiss.

    https://youtu.be/sFQcYt6yU0A

I read somewhere that the actor suffered through the filming of that scene.

    1. he was upside down (so blood must have been rushing to his head)
    2. he was wearing the Spiderman’s mask (so he couldn’t breathe)
    3. it was raining (so water was going down his nose)
    4. he had to focus on the kiss while being in an extremely uncomfortable spot

    lol.

After I read about it, I had this image of the actor being water-tortured.

  8. Yes I remember that famous upside down Spiderman kiss scene! That did look supremely uncomfortable..I always wondered how any passion could be felt when one is wet and miserable! Truly Water-torture!

  9. Water-torture or water-boarding.

    lol.

No, I only like kisses in the rain if the kiss is a short playful one, and it’s not freezing rain.

  10. Eeks! Freezing rain with chattering teeth is going to kill all passion🥶🥶🥶🥶
Besides as we see from drama BTS, they do multiple practice takes before the final kiss..enough to cause the main leads pneumonia 🤪🤪

  11. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

Heheheheh @pkml3, whose lips would you not mind kissing for a million bucks?

I’m quite happy with shows where there are no kisses or romance. The only one so far that is like this, and is mighty gripping through and through, is Kairos. It’s a nice change to watch, in between, while waiting for TOTNT to air.

  12. Are the subs out for Kairos? I checked and saw only the raw one.

I’ve messianic tendencies. So give me the ugliest actor in kdrama with lead male potential and let me see if I can turn a frog into a prince of a guy. 😈 🐸

  13. #packmule3, Great Gifs. I’m one that lives kissing scenes and well made sex scenes that aren’t gratuitous. But I feel for the actors who basically don’t do them in one take, thanks to all the camera angles needed, the sound checks and all the other technical requirements. On the US there are coverage requirements for private areas in nude scenes thatvarevskimpy at best.At the very in least in kissing scenes, some actors who don’t like their scene partners eat garlic or other bad breath in producers. With nude scenes, frequently the studios are cold to protect the equipment. the actors freeze. You don’t see the goose bumps. For the intimate scenes they often close the sets. Even though they’re paid to entertain us, I believe that these actors who are exposing so much should be treated well (both in pay and working conditions) and shown appreciation by their audiences. I’ll now get off my soapbox.

  14. I hear you, Old American Lady!!

The French actress who starred in Bertolucci’s Last Tango in Paris never really recovered from that film. Her story should be a cautionary tale to any young aspiring actress. I never really looked at Marlon Brando and Bertolucci the same way again. I read somewhere that she was being offered butter in restaurants. 🤯 People could be so revolting.

  15. @Phoenix girlfriend, of course you and me love our kisses. 😉 it’s part of our drama package right? But yeah there are those great passionate kisses and those that are meh 😕

Don’t give me anymore ideas please about kissing in the rain, the rain here is quite cold so at the most hubby and I might just end up having a cold if not pneumonia 😂

  16. @packmule3-I agree with you about Last Tango. As I remember it was an art house movie and critically acclaimed. And Brando was way past his sell date and Maria Schneider was very young. I saw that movie when it first came out and didn’t like it one bit. Talk about sexist.Yuck!

  17. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

@pkml3 There is only Ep 5 of Kairos out this week. It’s fully subbed on Dramafire.

I like that we are getting more backstory that explains a bit more of the present, not however that this makes some characters any more sympathetic or relatable.

On the frog to prince kissing – I can’t think of any actor who is ugly enough LOL. And even if they don’t fall under the ‘handsome’ category, most of them can actually act pretty well. But for me, nope, not even for a million dollars.

  18. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

    Episode 11 Initial Adhoc Thoughts
Supernatural beings being reduced to brawling like kids, somehow tarnishes the ‘Wow’ factor in their face off. What were LY’s threatening clouds supposed to be able to do… maybe shoot lightning at Imoogi (*hopeful*). Pity they retracted without doing anything.

Why is it that the bad guys seem so much more impressive and effective in doing evil compared to the good guys? Well of course it’s to create more conflict, however, I find Imoogi so much ‘cooler’ in his being so bad.

Show continues in the amoral way of allowing the ‘killing’ of humans by characters whom we might like to root for. This takes away the sympathy I’d otherwise have for those characters. Just because the person being killed is a mean guy, doesn’t mean killing him is right.

Taluipa is exhausting in her non-stop anger and refusal to soften, except with LY. Poor hubby.

I do like the twist in the sellout of Lee Yeon, but why does CEO get to run off without punishment after LY gets all the hostages out safe and sound?

I hope the rest of the people on the Ground Cherry plant can be saved. But I’m afraid show will forget about them.

What I continue to like about this show – Ji Ah remains consistently grounded, intelligent, able to care for herself and make good decisions regardless of lies, threats and noble idiocy.

  19. @GB,

Good morning! I haven’t watched episode 11 yet. I am glad that LY is not dead.
I think that the Scriptwriter should had in mind BALANCE, like Yin and Yang.

I read your kisses’ comments but I was not able to participate as I wanted to…

  20. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

Hi @Cleopatra Good Morning/Day (evening for me) to you! ヾ(˹ᆺ˺✿)ノ゙

Yes, there are times when as I read comments, I think of something to say, but the time is not right. After the time is past, I forget what I wanted to say LOL.

While watching Ep 11, although the thoughts that came to me were critical, I did enjoy the show. I liked the denouement with CEO and the sense of hope. I also got a sense of dread here and there. Like I mentioned before… there is an element of sacrifice required … nothing is free. In order to get something, something else has to be given up or lost.
    (ఠ్ఠ ˓̭ ఠ్ఠ) Between Ep12-15 there’s a lot of stuff that can still happen. So we can’t sit back complacently. (*worry*) (¬_¬) ( •᷄⌓•᷅ )

  21. @GB,

I am not that into k-dramas but from what I have seen, I do hope we won’t get a bittersweet ending…

Also, I saw a video earlier, where one commentator said that LR and Yuri will get a spin off? I don’t know Korean there are not english subs, but I will post the link here for you to see…

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=38s3NRtGTL0

Yes, if you don’t say what you want to say the time you were thinking about it the bravado is later off.

The more I watch the show, the more I am understanding that we haven’t seen the whole image yet.

Also, I wanted to share with you that I came through a comment, while looking for more info, where someone has a theory that the Imoogi is Taluipa’s son. I don’t get it but who knows…

  22. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

Thanks for the news on the spin-off @Cleopatra. I searched for more info on it and found this link: https://www.instagram.com/p/CHSkmGnp0m1/?igshid=1iqgh74w4dwc4

So it seems it’s true! I’m surprised actually. I’d expect only shows that are insanely popular to be the ones to have spin-offs. This one seems to have been planned (maybe written as a series of stories?) in advance. I wonder if it will be set in Russia. ( ´͈ ◡ `͈ )

About kdrama endings. The overall tone of this show is light and it does not seem to take itself too seriously. Hence, I would normally not expect anything too sad to happen, as in I’d expect someone to get hurt but not die. That being said, however, I wonder if we are getting red herrings or real clues as to possible deaths. For instance, Lee Rang gets a redemption arc and is finally beside his brother. Just when everything turns rosy for him, is when he may be struck down. The other one is Shin Joo, who claims to be able to live a long time, and he’s been having a positive arc with Yoo Ri.

I don’t think the leads will be killed off, but I worry about the side characters, even about Yoo Ri, or Ji Ah’s colleagues.

It’s true that we don’t quite see the whole picture yet. With 5 more episodes to go, there’s time to have 3 or 4 more twists.

I like the comment about the Imoogi being Taluipa’s son. The clues for this is that Taluipa considers him unfilial and she won’t act against Imoogi. Her claim is that she does not want to hurt Ji Ah who has a piece of Imoogi in her, but she might have other reasons too.

The other thing that Imoogi says which is interesting, is that he has lived far longer than Lee Yeon: a 1,000 years to LY’s 600? At his ‘death’ anniversary, Taluipa and husband did not visit a grave. I wondered where Taluipa was as she had so many candles in a room.

But even without any of these clues, people will think of this type of possibility, because in kdramas, coincidences are rampant, people are often childhood friends, and what took place in the past will repeat or come back to the present. So, it’s within the bounds of possibility for Bok Gil to be Imoogi.

Conversely, the only reason why this seems unlikely is that both Taluipa and husband do not bother much about Imoogi. Husband just said Taluipa was worried, but they do nothing to make contact with Imoogi.

They are the most ineffective ‘good’ guys ever. LOL.

  23. Dear @GB,

I am on my mobile phone and I cannot answer as I want to!

I think as well that they had planned it that way about the Spin Off.

I believe that we might have some casualties. We shall see. Yes, side characters are a bit fragile imo.

While I was reading about Lee Yeon’s age! I remembered watching this trailer for the series…
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PvnkFbEq2yg&t=12s

Surprise! Surprise! Our nine tailed fox is… 1600 y.o.! LMAO

I cannot understand Taluipa’s character and reactions that much.
She is so tsundere for my liking…There are things she knows and doesn’t share at all. We shall see if it is her son or not.
But you are right the good guys are not helping at all, just watch…

  24. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

Hi @Cleopatra, after skip watching Ep 12 (I had not time to watch it fully) and avoiding the parts that looked ‘painful’, I can say that the spin-off of Lee Rang and Yoo Ri is possible. Ep 12 actually had several minutes dedicated to their backstory.

This is one of the things I like about this show. The backstories come along and the side characters become more understandable.

The very grey-black area of treating human life lightly and of easily throwing human life away still troubles me. And once again I wonder why it is only Lee Yeon who is ‘threatened’ with punishment for killing or allowing people to die.

And Oh yes, @Cleopatra, we are right to be nervous and worried… the tables are turning… which of course makes the show more interesting now.

  25. Dear @GB,

I was waiting for your comment patiently…

Unfortunately I saw a tiny portion of what was happening in episode 12 and I was shocked last night. Still, I will watch it and I will be ready for what it will come next.

We will be waiting 2 weeks instead of 1. So, the wait is longer that expected…

I totally understand what you are saying. I have a feeling that the ending will have a moral touch though, like the fairytales the bards [( or/ and rapsodoi (ραψωδοί)] used to say among people at nights.

Still, I feel like Taluipa is watching a chess game and still not interfering and I don’t like it. Where is Divide Providence as @pcml3 said it existed in TKEM?

The preview of Episode 13 has a bittersweet taste. You were right about the side characters being sacrificed, if what we got is what really happens.

Still, I will be happy if we get to see spin offs, but not ready to accept that people that move on the grey-black area of good vs evil have to be forgiven.

Lastly, the show is indeed more interesting now. I am wondering what else the scriptwriter has in her sleeves. I do hope she does it justice though.

  26. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

@Cleopatra, were you waiting for my comments before you watch each episode? Do you want spoilers or just enough info to know if it will be happy or not?

  27. @GB, Since I was later in the party, I have enjoyed your comments and of course of everyone else’s in this thread regarding TOTNT.

No, spoilers don’t work for me. Just the tone of the episode.

I like the things you pick here and there, since I am a k-drama newbie and not so familiar with Korean Culture, but since I have a Humanities Studies major I am interested in learning more.

  28. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

OK @Cleopatra,… if you like the human interest aspects of the tale, I’m up for chatting about that. I too look for the social, cultural and human interest aspects. I dabbled very badly in history, anthropology, philosophy LOL. Would have loved literature if I didn’t have to pass exams on it. But that was aeons ago.

  29. @GB,

I like to share ideas with people who are interested in something common with me or not. As long as the conversation is a civilized one.

Communication is a way of expressing yourself while you listen to others as well and learn if you pay attention to new things and perspectives.

I am in love with History, Literature, Arts and Philosophy myself. Hence the moral code. I am with Aristotle and Kant in this one.

  30. Hi @GB, @Cleopatra and girlfriend @Phoenix!

I was so happy for Ji Ah for having her parents back. But true too that I hope the people that’s inside the ground cherries will be saved as well.

What an ‘introduction gift to parents’ from Yeon. 😂 I’d forgotten what it’s like to watch how the rich character can be so generous without boasting at the same time. Yeon is innocent that way. 😁

Why is Taluipa like that? She kept saying that Yeon will make the same mistake so why not help him instead?

I’m scared after that ending even though I like the twist. I think Yeon wanted to obliterate Imoogi using his thunder power but it didn’t work. Ottoke?

  31. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

Hi @agdr03 and Everyone, yes, you’ve touched on one of a couple of sources of irritation in this show.

One is how only Lee Yeon has to right the wrongs (and if he does anything ‘bad’ only he gets punished). It seems like there’s absolutely no one else around to help out as more or less an equal, who will fight with him. That in itself wouldn’t be so bad, if he had more power than just zipping around (which Imoogi can also do) and calling down thunder and lightning. It seems that Imoogi has more effective ‘weapons’ up his sleeve, what with reading people’s minds and being able to turn them en masse into obedient robots to wreak havoc.

Taluipa is supposed to be all knowing and powerful, but she seems trapped by her rigidity in rule following. Too fatalistic for my taste, and too cold and hard on poor husband.

The 2nd thing that affected me in Ep 12 were the shifts back and forth in tone of the interspersed scenes. The rather silly or trivial scenes in a more frivolous tone, of LY doing boyfriend things, was jarring to me, when contrasted with the serious Imoogi scenes and the Lee Rang scenes. I found that I couldn’t laugh at LY being out of his depth as a prospective son-in-law, because while he was cavorting with JA and her family, his friends were being compromised by Imoogi.

Also, too many happy scenes now make me more worried about the characters who are blissfully unaware, as they still have 3-4 episodes to face threats and torture/death.

A 3rd thing that bugged me, although a bit less, was how LR just stood there and let Yoo Ri stab him repeatedly. His ability to super speed zip about evaporated in his shock, I suppose.

I may have something more on Urban Legends to post in that thread. It’s getting buried though, so here’s the link again
    (^~^) :

    https://bitchesoverdramas.com/2020/10/17/tale-of-the-nine-tailed-gbs-compendium-of-urban-legends/

  32. Hey @Agdr03 and everyone,

Yes, as @GB explained perfectly, Taluipa is rigit. She exist only for her rules, she is not helping at all. She is bullying her husband and Lee Yeon is the only one who gets punished. I have a problem with this concept but what can we do? It would be wiser if we got to see someone else being punished as well.

Also, @GB you are right. LY is out of his league with Imoogi having these powers, while he only has his cunning mind and lethal sword…

I do hope you are all well!

  33. Hello. been lurking here since TKEM and its my first time to comment anything really. ive been looking for posts about this and I cant find any but did anybody notice how Lee Yeon had multiple scenes with the SAME outfit even if it’s been days since? The first time he wore the outfit (black blazer thing with stripes on them) was when he met imoogi the first time and then he was wearing that when he went to that gazebo place, and he was wearing that again when he went to Rang’s place after he got stabbed. Like,,,, is this a production error or does this have something to do with the plot or am i just really fixated on wardrobe? Any thoughts? :)))

  34. @peachullie, Love your comment. Have a few thoughts about Lee Yeon’s suits-they use it to define hischaracter(costumes are usedto extend character description and are part of the story-Terry Dresbach, the originalcostume designer for Outlander haslots of content on the internetabout how costume design is an integral part of storytelling);the samecostume helps with technical issues like continuity-cuts down possibleverrors; Lee Dong Wook looked particularly handsome(no stretvh here) jn this suit or maybe he was comfortable in it; production made multiple costumes too expensive; pure laziness or just plainno reason at all. Am glad you posted it because it’s just plain funto think aboutbthese things. Ine thing about K Dramas is thatunlike so many American programs, the men really rock some incredible suits-From lapel sizes, fabric, cuts(single vs, double breasted), wide v skinny leg trousers, socks v no sicks, cuff links v buttons, various types of collars on shirts, different tie widths ir no tie at all (and striped v patterned v school ties v bow ties v no ties. One of the joys of k drama viewing for me. I am old and spent a lot of time during my childhood with my dad when he went to the haberdasher(men’s clothing store) to buy suits. The trousers and jackets werecfitted to him by tailors-trousers had no hems to insure the proper length. My dad woulspd step up on a small platform, while pant length and sleeve length were chalked off and pinned and where jackets and trousers were also measured for fit. Youbrought back some happy memories. Thank you.

  35. Hello @Peachullie!

I have noticed too that there are some outfits that we see quite often.
I sure recall the one with stripes – but I don’t remember the specific scenes atm, but I am pretty sure we got to see the black suit Lee Yeon wore to the fox’s wedding and then when he enscorted Ji Ah to her office without the pin in his pocket.

I have read somewhere that they play a lot with the Yin – Yan balance (black and white palettes) / aspect, so chromatically for the sake of the story and Photography they have used some certain outfits as @Old American Lady mentions above.

I have to check again several clips to be more specific! If you ask my personal opinion, I like that they dress like normal people do. With specific items, we recycle our wardrobe every week and so.

Glad to know that you are around. We are waiting for your comments in episodes 13 + 14!

  36. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

    Hey @peachchullie @Old American Lady @Cleopatra

I confess that the repeated costumes didn’t fully register with me. I sort of noticed them, but didn’t think it had any significance. I believe I may have thought that Lee Yeon just likes to stick to his few suits.

I have found that kdramas tend to never repeat costumes as a rule … I gather it’s because they are ‘advertising’ the clothes in the show and are giving more designers airtime by constantly changing apparel. It’s not realistic but fun. I recall enjoying the plethora of expensive long coats that Gianna Jun had just by digging through the 2nd hand clothes in the “The Legend of the Blue Sea”. LOL.

I like how they do definitely repeat what they wear in cdramas. That’s really closer to reality. It makes more sense too, especially in shows where students are the main protagonists. They have to take on odd jobs or stint on food to survive, therefore they should not have an ever changing wardrobe.

  37. I just realized that for the sake of product placement, they don’t take the fabric designer labels off the sleeves of coats and suits. Those are the labels that we snip off after we purchase the item. When I first saw this, I as an American, thought it odd. And, if the clothes are borrowed, the vendir can still sell it. (Kin ofblike thevfashions that movie stars wear to thebaward shows) Now I get it. Lol.

  38. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

LOL @Old American Lady. You have sharp eyes!!! I didn’t really notice the labels, but I sometimes catch the end credits and some label names jump up at me.

Mostly though, I notice the eating places, the phones and maybe the cars. But Korean fashion is a big thing everywhere. We are inundated with stores selling Korean beauty, fashion, hair salons, etc.

I do like to observe how celebrities look in dramas, and I admire the clothes, hair, makeup, accessories and new styles that come out every few months. Having actors giving screen time to the latest Korean look and ‘modelling’ is enjoyable PPL. ೭੧(❛▿❛✿)੭೨

  39. @Growing Beautifully, Thanks for pointing out the all-important Korean beauty and skincare industry. I get a kick out of seeing how product placement is used whwn the female lead gets presents of beauty items and when sheet masks are used as comic relief(especially on men). None ofthe product placement takes away from the actual program for me. I guess that I’d have to learn Hangulto read the soju bottles and beer cans. When the pandemic is over, I’m going to go to my nearby H Mart or Korean liquorvstore to buy some soju. Mynhusband says it’s supposed to be like vodka but I’ll try it for myself. And I’d also like tontrybthe wine beginning with thebletter m, that is served in what appears to me as tea pots and is drunk from small bowls. So for a country, whose evonomynis enhanced by the Hallyu wave, I guess from my own experience, that product placement works.
