The thread is now open for spoilers, comments and…stress.

This kdrama is so stressful to watch. Even his hair is stressing me out. lol. I want to take a flat iron to straighten those curls.

Thanks @pkml3. I’ve just watched Ep 7. Yes that was a fun but stressful watch. I use the speed up button to get over the scary and violent scenes. Unfortunately we didn’t see any sign of Counter Territories this episode, but we get to know the connections between the baddies and that now, even Ha Na is sort of ‘related’ to the crimes. Also sadly, no chance to see Ju yeon and Ung Min.

There are 4 known demons walking around currently, I believe.
    1) Ji Cheong Sin – Level 3
    2) The woman who killed her husband (her demon recognised that Sin had a demon in him)
    3) Song Man Ho of the Construction Firm (uncle of Ha Na and killer of his underling) – Level 2
    4) Shin Hyeok U the bully and son of the mayor (his demon was recognised by Sin)

I was interested to see that not only are our Counters stronger, faster and able to read memories, but they also can survive Truck of Doom (ToD) high impact and crushing. I’m wondering if humans can kill them or not, but why not, since Jang Cheol Jung, who was impaled did die.

I was quite irritated by the spirit tenants in Yung who were placidly playing games, good grief! while their human hosts were out there risking their lives. Of the 4, poor Soo Ho, (I believe he’s Mae Ok’s son), the only one who seems to work around Yung, was the one to fall off the ladder. The others were on chairs and presumably fell off them too!?

  2. Ep7:
@GB you’re right about the demons. I’m not surprised about Shin Hyeok U having an demon, he is especially wicked! Bet his dad the mayor has one too.

Also I don’t think regular humans can kill the counters, JCJ was killed by Cheong Sin who was already a level 3 spirit. In the counters fight with the gangsters they bent their knives and weapons so I think they are only in danger with possessed humans who have that supernatural strength behind their blows.

I know what you mean about the Yung spirits just playing cards whilst the humans are risking their lives, shouldn’t they be communicating with them when they are on missions?! Glad they survived the ToD, happy they have a new car. And yes Suho is Mae Ok’s son!

Shallow moment but I’m really impressed by Mo Tak’s body! For a man in his 50s irl, his shoulders and abs are amazing😁

    Ep8:
I thought the employee’s story was kinda sad, how even in death he was define by work. The portrayal of the workplace in many Korean dramas I’ve seen is very toxic and I honestly feel for people who are in such situations.

So the reservoir is a place where they’ve been dumping garbage and possibly bodies? And why would the bad guys want the contaminated water to flow into the city’s water supply, don’t they drink it too🤔

    Hi @Esst3
I started my reply to you hours and hours ago, but real life got in the way.

I caught that Shin Hyeok U had a demon because Sin recognised the demon in him. Such a pity, a mere high school kid is already so into sadistically harming others and killing. Since only these types attract the evil spirits, it means that he had chosen to be evil first. Of course his Mayor father is one heck of a bad role model. So far no clues as to whether the Mayor has any evil spirit in him.

In the counters fight with the gangsters they bent their knives and weapons so I think they are only in danger with possessed humans who have that supernatural strength behind their blows.

    – I hope this is true and it does seem this is about right. As long, I guess, as no human pierces them through and through or smashes them to a pulp. They are still human, afterall.

Shallow moment but I’m really impressed by Mo Tak’s body! For a man in his 50s irl, his shoulders and abs are amazing😁

    – LOL I’m so amused seeing him lifting up his shirt repeatedly for the ladies and I think once for the guys. I wasn’t sure if I was supposed to notice more than the scars.

I thought the employee’s story was kinda sad, how even in death he was define by work. The portrayal of the workplace in many Korean dramas I’ve seen is very toxic and I honestly feel for people who are in such situations.

    – What I like about this show is that it very effectively aligns our emotions with the feelings, regrets, intentions of some of the characters, even the very small characters like the employee. I actually was in tears for him, for the unfairness when he was young and had so much potential. It even got me understanding the human part of our evil Sin, and wishing that he’d had a different past, that could have maybe enabled him to choose differently.

So the reservoir is a place where they’ve been dumping garbage and possibly bodies? And why would the bad guys want the contaminated water to flow into the city’s water supply, don’t they drink it too🤔”

    – I had a similar question in my mind. The only sense in this, that I can figure is that they just wanted to save money and maximise profits by dumping, and then would bribe the authorities to look the other way when people got poisoned by the water. As for themselves, they’d get specially distilled water or something.

  4. I’m up to date with this drama but I’m glad episode 8 wasn’t so violent. It’s true, it’s a very hard watch especially with the violence and killings but I’m still attached to our awesome foursome, the besties and Grandparents.

The scene at the reservoir is 🤮

I wonder if there’s a love line for Mun and Hana? 😁

I read that there won’t be any episode this week due to internal issues in the production team.

  5. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

@agdr03 What? Internal issues in the production team!?! Wae??? Just before Christmas when we should be more filled with peace…. *sigh*. Anyway, first I need to finish Kairos… the suspense is killing me!!!

  6. Yes @GB, that’s what I read on Instagram. Hopefully it’ll be sorted and they come back with more power and less violence? 🤞🏻

    Enjoy Kairos. 😃

  7. Yes! What “internal issues”?

I believe the director was just praising his actors for their dedication, work ethics, etc.

  8. Apologies @GB, I don’t actually get notifications if someone responds to me so I can’t tell unless I come back to the post (@packmule3 is there a way to fix that? I tick the notif boxes at the bottom every time I post but never get emails)

About the mayor, there was something in his demeanour whilst they were in that private room whilst discussing the rich man killed by Cheong Sin that makes me think he’s also possessed.

I’m also amused about Mo Tak lifting his shirt ever so often but I believe it was around ep 5/6 where he’s doing pull ups and other exercises on the bar pole; I couldn’t help but admire him😂 Those require a lot of core and upper body strength.

@agdr03 I was also thinking a love line between So Mun and Hana. He was definitely besotted with her in the earlier episodes but how old is she? After the fiasco of DDSSLLS I think I’m so over unnecessarily noona relationships.

And I really need to start following people/pages that have the latest kdramas news. For someone who watches a lot of Kdramas my social media shows little to no bearing no bearing of it 😂. I didn’t hear about this internal issue, checked and the dates for ep 9&10 have been shifted on Netflix to the new year. I wonder what happened and I hope it doesn’t negatively affect the direction of the story 😪

I found out that they are already discussing the prospect of a Season 2. Also found out the drama is based off a webtoon. Whilst I’m all for Korea adapting the western style of seasonal dramas I really hope they do it right and learn from the mistakes of Hollywood. If a story can be told in one season just do that rather than make it go on for ages just because of high ratings.

  9. Everyone, I read that the network/production were planning on producing Season 2. They are now currently working with the actors’ schedules.

Planned schedule so far: Filming in 2021 then release in 2022.

  10. I forgot to read @Esst3’s last paragraph.

Yes, I had my qualms too with these seasons thing because this is one of the reasons why I can’t get on watching american tv series. But I’ll take dramas being seasonal (also having dedicated day/s in the week to air) than having a drama air daily on weekdays and could last for years!

I hope TUC season 1 would end on a somewhat conclusive note. The only seasonal Kdrama that I watched is the Dr. Romantic series, but the wait for the 3rd season is excruciating (no signs of a 3rd season really, and Ahn Hyo Seop may not appear because he’s yet to be enlisted, so the wait is even more painful).

Or better yet, the production scratch the season plan and end this drama in 1 season only.

    @Esst3 @LeeDale9198
That’s an interesting thought about the Mayor. I know that in Ep 1 he looked so mild and vaguely concerned about the lone protester (who committed suicide, they claim) that he almost looked like a good guy, but by Ep 4 he had the habit of looking the other way when evil was committed and then he started demanding that evil be done.

Personally I’m happy to NOT have any romance at all with a noona or doengsaeng or someone the same age even. Show is fraught with so much to tie up with So Mun and Mo Tak, maybe with the grandparents too, Mo Tak and Jeong Yeong, plus the 3 as yet uncaught bad spirits. The other point that worries me is that, if ever the tenant spirits leave, Ha Na (and the others) will relapse into coma. I don’t want So Mun to be stuck in relationship with someone neither dead nor alive.

I’m interested in Mae Ok’s story and how her son died (and became a tenant spirit) while she ended up in a coma. Perhaps they were both in the same accident … or in this kdrama world, maybe their deaths too had something to do with Tae Sin Group.

Yes this is from a webtoon or manhwa. The webtoonish-ness of the show does crop up at times too, very deliberately, to remind us of it’s source material.

I don’t follow kdrama or any drama news either. If I know, I know from a commentor who mentions it. LOL.

At this stage, I don’t see enough material for Season 2, however I’ve not read the manhwa so maybe there’s more. I don’t like shows that drag out hardly any plot at all.

  12. I’m slowly catching up with you guys binge-watching before SU rewatch 🤣

The bully, corrupt police and politician not to mention the evil spirits this show really went all out on baddies.

  13. Hey @Ella,

Good to know that you are catching up!

The Uncanny Counter is a gem! Tomorrow we get to see Episode 13..

  14. @Cleopatra
Bullying theme is hard to swallow for me, I watched Ep1 a while back then took a break. I’m glad I picked it back up and power through it’s really good. I should be able to catch up by tomorrow 🤭

  15. @Ella,

I totally get it. Yes it is pretty good. I didn’t expect it to be that good, but the revelation made me happy.

I like fantasy and scifi genre, so I am thrilled when I find material to enjoy!
