  1. We finally met the OG queen through flashback and so far I’m liking her plus feel sorry for her. The King also fleshed out a bit more in this episode.

  2. Oh and parallel time was talked about the 4th dimension. Reminds me of Eternal Monarch…travelling across time. Is falling into water and being kissed by their other self the only way to get back to their real time. How will they open the door to their original time space? I wonder if they will reveal where the original Queen So-Yong went.

I have to say the other person stealing the show is Court Lady Choi!! She always have to deal with Mr.Queen’s unpredictable outbursts.

  3. Court Lady Choi actress was so good in CLOY as well. Ha. I wonder if the chef will win her heart?

I think the ‘queen’ is getting more of an understanding of consequences in the Joseon era. I don’t think that the Oh Wol (?) servant girl will survive somehow.

  4. Does the king’s brother in love with his concubine as well? Also he keep on telling the king not to trust the queen because the queen is from Kim clan.

I think we’re set up for a showdown between the king and the queen’s cousin.

  5. I’m getting annoyed of Bonghwan. Dude, you’re in a woman’s body, surely at least don’t act like the playboy that you are 🤦🏻‍♀.

Oh well, praying that his near death experience would knock some sense to him. He momentarily went back to his body in the modern world based on the preview as he’s flatlining. Also, praying for SoYoung’s consciousness or soul at least interact with BH and yhey work together in solving each other’s problems. This drama has only just began.

  6. Finished Ep6 tbh i feel like there is no plot progress, it’s all hijinks and fun but not much happening. The highlight for this Ep6 for me is Court Lady Choi.

  7. I really need to catch up and see if this is something I want to analyse.

  8. We will have a love square! kekekeke… that prince yeongpyeong(?) definitely is smitten with that concubine Jo. I am cracking up at ep. 5 and 6. I am also worried for the queen’s soul. Where is she? If BH is comatose then how about her soul? Is she still in her body? Suppressed by the soul of BH? But preview showed he woke up in his body but did he fall back to unconsciousness and return to queen’s body?

I am supposed to dislike the king but when he jumped into the lake, we were squealing kekekeke. And when he kneeled with his ‘no touching’ proposal, giving her the umbrella… lmao ok I reserved further comment lol. Court Lady Choi distressing method is so funny! lol

I dislike that queen’s cousin… sleazy looking. Mianhae. His lip balm or lipstick is distracting his emotional/ facial expressions. And he crossed the line. We were right that the concubine Jo lied to king and has her own agenda. Seems like both the king and queen are pawns in this feud between the Kim(s) and the Jo(s). But I need to know why queen was accused as trying to kill the king. She didn’t deny it. I need to know where Queen Cheorin is! adhasdjhasjdhjasdjashdjsajdas

P/S: Can I be the invisible puppet master and slap that cousin’s face whenever I find him annoying onscreen? hehehe

  9. Court lady choi is a scene stealer! Omg it’s been a while since I laughed this much while watching kdrama.. as much as i’m watching this.. something that i really need for the end of the year.

As for plot progress, yea it’s a lil bit slow i guess. But maybe it is because this drama will have 20 episodes? That’s more than the usual 16 episodes drama nowadays..

Sure prince yongpyong (the king’s brother) is having a secret crush to Lady Jo Hwa Jin. So will it be a rectangle love 😅 ?

Somethings that I really wanna know:
    – the Queen’s soul : is her soul wandering around in the palace? Or got time travel to modern era?
    – what is Lady Jo secret??
    – does the Queen have a real feeling towards the King? Why did she want to murder him?

  10. yes.

Prince Yeongpyeong’s infatuation with HwaJin is going to be troublesome later on.

But so is BongHwan’s flirtation for HwaJin! I wanted to smack him when he was trying to come-on to her in Ep 6. Could he PLEAASSSSSE remember that he’s in the Queen’s body. What’s wrong with him?! Such a man-whore! And then, he was upset at the thought that Queen Soyeon could be in his body chasing guys at a nightclub! Grrrr….

So it’s not just a rectangular love, when you count BongHwan, too.

    And Soyeon’s orabeoni, Cousing ByungIn.

  11. I’m thinking that perhaps Hwajin and Byung-in are the most clever of this generation grouping. I was impressed with Byung-in’s meeting with the leaders of the Jo and Kim factions. When he was very purposefully putting his hairpin through his man bun, I saw that it was green jade as well. I wonder if it’s linked to the queen’s jade hair pin that the king returned to her during his kneeling apology.

Everyone seems to be speaking at cross-purposes with Bong Hwan. The ‘no touching’ dialogue was well done – both actors ramping it up until the court ladies showed up. Also the request by queen BH to Queen Dowager Jo for a séance, and queen BH trying to be friends with Hwa Jin; both Jo women saw threats where there were none. Then there was the king’s message inside of the gift book he sent to Queen BH, that made her angry. The ‘No Touching’ message had a little red flower on it, like the flower on her jade hairpin.

Lady Choi was trying to be mindful before her time and went into the forest to let off steam. Was that Joseon yodelling? – Then going to the antique shop to have a look at the animated hunk.
    😈😆

I liked the maid Hong Yeon’s advice that the queen was only hurting herself by mistreating her body. Although her court lady and handmaid misunderstand what BH means, they try their best to keep her well, dry and amused. The sign for the takeout service was funny. BH has embroidered in modern Hangul and Hong Yeon in the old style – is that correct? BH has decided to be ‘first’.

I’m afraid of the shaman. Shamans are always trouble, right?

  12. I really like the queen’s cousin – plus he is so cute. He really does love her. It’s too bad that they were not able to get together prior to her entering the palace! Now I am afraid it is too late for them.

As for the king, he seems to be falling for the queen. Will his desire turn from his concubine to his queen? How will the queen handle it if he really does want to bed her?

  13. Yes. The Queen’s cousin is my kind of dude. I believe his name is Na In Woo. I watched him on one of those mini dramas. Yeongdam family?? He looked like a puppy.

But yeah, I know he’s second male lead here so I’ve been lecturing my heart to be still. 😂

  14. I like both the King and the queen’s cousin, but I don’t think the real queen thought of him romantically. Even when Byung-in kissed her, she kept her eyes open and wept initially. Too late, was what I thought. And it was borderline selfish of him unless he had a plan to get her away from her situation. Her static situation being, as the Grand Queen Dowager stated, that she had been destined to be queen from birth.

I suppose that it’s possible that Byung-in (and his adoptive father’s) plan might be for him to be king, in which case they might still be together? His father seemed perplexed that he would choose the position he did. Byung-in said he wanted to make his own way – but is that even possible when your family had a hand in everything? (What was his father smoking that his son would be concerned back in that era?)

  15. Fern I am also quite curious about the thing that he smoked, is it drugs? Because i assume that what Byung-In’s father give to the one who killed O-wol (Lady Jo servant) is drugs… is he a drug dealer or what..

And yes packmule3 i was uncomfortable whenever the Queen BH acting like a man-whore I mean pleaseee 😔😔 can he be more considerate to Queen..

It’s not rectangle love yeeah it might be more complicated than that 😅

  16. I know that the Opium Wars started in 1839 and again in 1856, so this was the period in between. There seemed to be a lot of trade between the Qing and Korea, so perhaps opium was one thing that came along with that. If Byung-in’s father was smoking opium, it was mixed in whatever leafy mixture we could see in the pipe bowl. But he seems too alert in general to me. But I’m not an expert. Tobacco was exported to Korea by the early 1600s and seemed to be in near universal use for all genders and ages. I don’t think any health dangers were known, as opposed to opium.

The killer, however, seemed motivated by whatever drug he was given. It seemed to me that he had some form of palsy, or perhaps that was a side effect of the drug. Opium was valued for pain relief for centuries, but here Byung-in’s father is threatening to withhold a powerful drug, so it could be something addictive in addition to being something that alleviates symptoms. I think we’ll learn more about it later.

  17. Good points, @ Fern!! I’ll have to keep an eye on Minister JwaGeum’s pipe. I was wondering why he kept burning 🔥 charcoal indoors whenever he had the audience with the Grand Queen Dowager.
I crossed off cannabis since BongHwan had a keen sense of smell; surely he’d recognize the smell?? 😂
