River Where the Moon Rises: Eps 11 & 12 Open Thread

The thread is now open for spoilers and discussions.

Now that I know who the characters are, the plot direction is easy to anticipate, especially the movements of the evil characters like Go WonPyo. The motives of the secondary characters, namely General Go and the herbalist/spy, are a little bit more complicated, but, frankly, I’m not interested in them. They can scheme or ally with whomever they want. For now, it’s premature to predict where their allegiance will ultimately rest.

My explanation on the cave scene is here. River Where the Moon Rises: Ep 11 The Cave Scene

Let’s enjoy the show.

  1. Still loving the slow burn that is GJ and OD. If only the world wouldn’t come knocking on their door and just leave them be. ❤️.

    I liked
    1. That OD went back and buried the soldiers that he killed. Rather than leave them to be scavenged by wild animals.
    2. That he was honest with GJ and told her he still could see/hear the people he killed in his head.
    3. That he asked the very important question if all that killing was all worth it (it’s important to reassess rather than just plow through with the initial decision to get involved in a war).
    4. That GJ respected his decision and kept her vows to be by his side and support him regardless.
    5. That OD realizes that the reason to pick up a sword is to protect his woman. 🥰
    6. That he picks up his father’s broken sword and carries on his legacy.
    7. That they share their first real kiss after a Mr and Mrs Smith moment on a precipice with falling snow and a reaffirmation of their vows 🥰…and then consummate their union after an exchange of bracelets at the hut (thanks be to the Monk who left them to their own devices 😂)

Confession – I have zero idea what is going on in the Palace (I fast forwarded through those scenes) and this includes the blossoming love between the Goth couple (@Snow Flower so aptly named them). 😜

I am confused. I thought the head honcho for the Go tribe was killed by OD when he saved GJ and his mom? OD even buried him? Why does he appear on the battlefield in the end with GG? 🤔. I guess they had to alter the storyline and some gaps are showing.

  2. I have zero interests in the palace politics too. 😂

To me, all the other cast members, including the second couple, are just fillers. I’ll tune in to see what they’re up to in the last two episodes.

All evil characters will die anyway so why should I emotionally invest in their stories? It’s hard enough to watch the fate of the lead couple, knowing that they’ll have a sad end based on the folktale. I’m not going to add to the angst by following another potentially doomed couple.

People want a springtime kdrama already.

I wouldn’t mind a rewrite. I’d be fully on board if writer decides to rewrite the whole finale and end it happily. The early episodes won’t matter anyway bec of Jisoo’s appearance. I doubt people will rewatch it because of him. I’ll treat them like a ridiculously long prologue to explain the tribal fighting, but the love story begins in Ep 9 when Na In Woo was introduced as husband.

Really. The writer should know by now that nobody cares about the palace intrigues anymore.
