Healer: Heads-Up Rewatch Sat Jun 19

Mark you calendars!

By popular demand, we’re starting a rewatch of “Healer” on Saturday, Jun 19.

Since this is a 20-episode drama, I think it’s best to pick the top 8 episodes to watch so we don’t have to spend five months on this drama. If you haven’t seen this drama (like me!), you have three weeks to watch it.

Remember to pace yourselves. Don’t be like this couple.

LOL those gifs @pkml3. Thanks very much for the early thread and notice to prepare.

I’ve been rewatching Healer since early last week and I’ve been drawn into that world again. I find it so emotionally engaging.

  2. Thanks for the reminder and heads up! Since I am done with my binge weekend, will start rewatching and refresh on Healer. Do we get to recommend and vote for the 8 episodes to rewatch? 😊

  3. First time for you, packmule3? Enjoy the ride!!! And the roof jumping 🤭🤭🤭🤭

  4. Oh I like Healer! We are going to enjoy the ride (again) indeed @Packmule3!

  5. I’ve been watching. Thank you, @packmule3.

Is that your gardenia? I wish they grew here – the fragrance is intoxicating.

  6. I watched the first 3 episodes. On paper it’s good, everything flows well. However, something weird makes it fall flat. It cheats a lot on the action scenes, but it’s rather the music that gives the cheap and old-fashioned side. The hero can go anywhere and solve everything magically. The weakness of A-Team stories. No tension, it is consensual. I was not hooked. At the end of episode 3, the hero is hired in the heroine’s company. A little more comedy. I hope things get better from there.
Side note: with his glasses, the hero really looks like City Hunter. Another previous drama, with the same lead actress.

  7. Greetings, @WEnchanteur,

I agree about the music. However, music in kdramas has improved a LOT since Healer was made back in 2014. Like me, you may have to try to ignore some of it or shrug it off as having vintage value.

I’m having a problem with watching Doom at the same time as Healer because there are certain elements that are similar. Doom might be more your style?

  8. @Fern,
I have no idea about Doom At Your Service, I haven’t even watched the trailer.
It seems to be a mix between Goblin and Bride of Haebek. On paper, it’s something I have no chance to like. But if it’s not boring, has a plot, and doesn’t force the comedy… Maybe? I don’t have time to watch dramas right now. If I manage to watch an episode of Healer every two days, that would be nice already. Then I’ll have to close the current dramas, like Taxi Driver. I just have my list of dramas to watch that keeps increasing without decreasing much…

  9. Oh, for the music, I didn’t mean that it sounded like old drama music. There are plenty of older dramas with good background music. What I meant was more the style of the music. It’s the all-purpose action music giving the impression that everything is played out in advance. It’s hard to explain further. It’s a genre I’ve heard before on many movies or series. And every time, it makes everything fall flat. Ah ah! I’ve probably also heard this on series like “the super con men who are able to pull off plans even more impossible than those in Mission Impossible, but which pass like a letter to the post office”.

  10. @WEnchanteur, I know that you are more discerning than I about music and other drama fails. Yes, I would agree that the ease with which Healer dispatches large groups of foes is rather dubious if you are hoping for true validity.

As to Doom, I haven’t watched Goblin or Bride of Haebek, so I am looking at the drama with relatively fresh eyes.

  11. @WE, fan made an overlapping videos between Healer and City Hunter🤭🤭🤭 I have to say the BGMs used are 👍👍👍👍👍

Thanks @Miracle23. I’ve watched both shows so the spoilers are fine by me. Actually eventhough I’ve watched Healer more than once, I still enjoy the rewatch as if I’m watching for the first time.

    ◖|◔◡◉|◗

  14. @Miracle23, the video links didn’t copy to me.

  15. @Miracle23, they are showing now.

  16. Yes, @Janey, you get to recommend the 8 episodes. I don’t have a clue since I’ve yet to watch this.

For “Hospital Playlist,” @miracle23 selected the episodes based on their relevance to the “husband-hunting” game of the series. 🙂

  17. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

@Janey I was rewatching Healer and thinking which episodes are the ‘Must-Watch’ ones. It’s so hard to choose out of the 20. If we want to watch the episodes with backstory there really could be 8 or more of them. If we want the romance (you know those epic scenes!!) there are also quite a lot. Then there are the cute scenes, also scattered across episodes. If it’s to understand most of the main plot, or how there came to be this Healer, etc, the mind boggles on selecting the episodes.

    So hard to choose!!!

  18. My votes go to Eps 1, 13, 14. That’s as far as I have watched.

  19. I’ve booked myself a place. I’ve just discovered “Healer”.

  20. @GB, as it’s a rewatch, and we already watched and get the plot/backstory, I vote for the episodes with the most cool stuff, emblematic scenes, best comedy romance or intenses plot-twist and emotion. Kind of thing that make you say “it’s why I’m fan of this drama”. Pure fun ! 🙂
    I didn’t watched them yet, but hey… 😉

Exemple of boring scene: in the past, they are in a truck/moto and the police chase them. Ok, there is action, but nothing cool. The scene is so long. Kind of thing I don’t like to rewatch. Of course, I can’t compare with the crazy long scenes of HP ep 5 from the moment mama eat vegetables to the end of mafia game. All this deserve an award. You can guess the award category. 🙂
(it missed me to shoot on HP, lololol)

  21. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

@Juriel, it’s never too late to watch Healer.

@Fern, I feel definitely we’ll need Ep 1 and Ep 20, therefore we have to vote for 6 more in between episodes.

Maybe we can rank the episodes that we want for the rewatch, from 1-6. Will that work?

  22. The must see: the phone booth call, the veranda phone call, the searching for sick boy scene, the i drop by to save you from harm and kiss you while your dad is watching scene 😂😂😂, among others.🤭🤭🤭

Gosh! Once upon a time seems fresh in mind still🤣🤣🤣🤣

  23. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

    @WE Those are great ideas!!!

We can choose the episodes we like based on:
Most cool stuff (to me this might be the action stuff like the parkour scene… Or the rescue or the Healer in action scenes.)

Best comedy (yeah there were those)

Best romance (we must pick at least 1 of these!!!)

What makes me a fan of this show (this might overlap with elements above, but that makes an episode more worthy of being chosen.)

  24. @GB and @miracle23

I vote for the elevator scene! 🤭😉

  25. i vote for the episode where FL goes to Healer’s flat/man cave!

  26. I’m with @Cleo and @TY – voting for elevator scene + beanie kiss and when FL goes to the Ml man cave and figure out how to get in. Sorry, don’t know the episode #s.

  27. @Janey,

The elevator scene is in Episode 8! *winks*

The man cave scene is in Episode 14-15.

“I wanted to see those eyes…” Best quote ever by my favorite Ahjumma!

  28. Godamn shit! Too many SPOILERS here ! I go to hide !
    AAAahaaaAAAaaahh AAahhahAHAAAAhhhh.

  29. Healer is one of those dramas I find immensely satisfying on an emotional level. Not only do the two leads have that certain raw chemistry but the physicality of their interactions is one of the things that draws you in.

Whenever I think about Kdramas and good depictions of the physical aspects of a romance, i.e touching, hugging, kissing, etc, Healer is the drama I look to as a standard (along with a few others). There’s also the emotional aspect that I think the show does really well. Communication, emotional understanding, and the depiction of two people who have each other’s backs is something else this show exels at imo.

  30. 👻👻👻👻 Run away, Wenchanteur, run away! 👻👻👻👻

They’re deciding which episodes to rewatch so of course there’ll be spoilers.

It’s a good thing I’ve a memory of a goldfish. It only lasts 3 seconds, if I remember correctly. 🤔

  31. The “don’t we clean up well” scenes when the two leads infiltrate a special event are a nice bit, but even better is when they end up together on a rooftop in their fine garb. I agree with the vote on the two of them in the man cave.

  32. Hi everyone,

I miss it here, I’m still lurking but have nothing to contribute since I’m on kdrama hiatus 😂

I dropped healer halfway but can’t remember why, maybe it’s time to get back to it.

  33. Hey there, Ella! Missed you.

Same here. The rewatch is spurring me to watch this series all the way till the end.

Hope everything’s fine in your corner of the world.

  34. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

Hi @Ella! Good that you’ve delurked to maybe join us on Healer! How are you doing?

  35. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

    Hi Everyone,
Here are suggestions for the Healer Rewatch.

There are 9 instead of 8 episodes, so the question is, do we want all 9? If not, which to jettison?

I notice that most of them have to do with the OTP, but that was one of the strongest points in this show’s favour, and the moments were sweet, so of course we want to rewatch those!

    1) Episode 1: For the intro to the characters and their dreams
    2) Episode 2: For some cool Healer action
    3) Episode 5: For the dynamics of relationships and a getaway
    4) Episode 8: For the elevator rescue and you know what happens after that
    5) Episode 9: For the telephone convo and makeover
    6) Episode 10: For the rooftop convo
    7) Episode 11: For the movie date
    8) Episode 14: For Healer’s turn to be ‘rescued’ in his lair
    9) Episode 20: For the finale

    Any comments?

  36. @GB!

    I am in!!!

  37. 🙂 The 8 episode limit wasn’t a hard-and-fast rule, @GB. We can have these 9 if you want. 👍

  38. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

Hi @Cleo!!! I’m glad you’re okay with the choices.

Great @pkml3, then for now, 9 episodes it shall be!!!

    ♡✧( ु•⌄• )

  39. @GB,

I also like Episode’s 16…exchange *ahem*, but we can watch that part only and discuss it… *Winks*

  40. Hey, Hey, Heeeeeeey !
    It’s better !
I don’t know when it happened. Middle of episode 4, or 5 ?
The drama is better ! ^^

  41. @GB, I downvote episode 1 & 2! Ew!!! Crap! Boring background, fake action. 🙁
I still remember a cool scene from that :
He steal her bag (extravagant kick-foot feat), they meet in toilets. Slow-motion !
    But I upvote episode 5. 🙂
    I’m watching currently… Mmmhhh… don’t remember.
    Episode 6 or 7. I will check later. 😉

  42. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

@WE sure vote however you want. We’ll see what the group says.

Episode 2 is the one with the meet-in-the-toilet scene. It also had him in 2 disguises.

Yes, I recall that by the end of Ep 5, many viewers’ hearts were hooked. I find the action cute, even low-tech at times (goes to show how unobservant and easily fooled people can be), but the ‘heart-parts’ were so good.

  43. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

@Cleo heheheh! I know why you vote for Episode 16. Yes, we can watch it on our own. Loved the reactions of the ahjusshis.

  44. @GB,

    How can I forget? LMAO!

  45. Growing Beautifully (GB)

@Cleo, are you rewatching Healer currently?

  46. @GB,

I used to do that until February. These days I am not.

I am revisiting scenes from “Oh My Venus”. And I have to concluded two series
(Taxi Driver, Move to Heaven) in order to have space for the new ones in June.
I have also started Navillera. We have #DAYS that keep us occupied. My hands are full! LOL!

    How about you?

  47. @Cleopatra and @Growing Beautifully, I just watched that episode yesterday morning. The OTP is on the same page and I love how they interact and their how loyalty wins over doubt. Ah, Young-shin chases down the stairs after Jung-hoo. The hug. The return for a kiss. –Small wonder the two ahjussis have it in for Healer the next time he shows up. Jung-hoo plays Bong-soo well, too, trying to be an ‘ordinary’ guy. I was laughing along with Young-shin when her dad says he had a stronger and more protective guy in mind for her. I think he’ll figure it out before long.

I’m now on episode 19 and things are very tense.

  48. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

@Cleo @Fern I was rewatching Healer last week. I’ve finished it for now, but may go back to selected episodes to prepare for the rewatch.
