    Episodes 15-19 Brief Summary Recap
Jung Hoo can’t believe that Young Shin chose to stay with him despite all his warnings and after how she’d face violence in his company. He keeps checking that it’s not a dream by following her like a puppy.

As a sign of rapprochement JH visits MH with beer and agrees to work with him to expose Elder. He introduces himself to YS as Seo Jung Hoo, a freelancer. After being kicked by her for lying, YS helps him infiltrate the police department server, to give Ahjumma a new backdoor to it.

MHee watches MH’s broadcast on Sabu/Young Jae’s death. Her suspicions over MS grow. She decides to be interviewed by YS, however YS is intercepted by MS.

YS receives a series of shocks. She finds out that her birth mother is alive and that JH knew but couldn’t tell her. She also discovers that JH’s father was accused of killing her father. She overcomes her initial revulsion at this thought to embrace JH in front of Dad Chae and Chul Min.

In an attempt to prove that his father was innocent of murder, JH tracks down Park Dong Cheol, but ends up being framed for his death. Even when YS sees him with blood on him next to Park’s body, she believes JH when he declares that he has never killed anyone.

MH and YS inform Dad Chae about Myung Hee. On her birthday, the next day, she visits Myung Hee after Secretary Oh gets released from police interrogation. JH heads over to MS’s home to ensure Oh does not hurt YS. He finds that Oh has OCD and cannot abide disarray of any kind. YS and MHee have an automatic bond.

JH with YS’s help gets photos of the new thugs, belonging to Hacker Ahn. He tells them that he wants to meet Elder and join his side. He gets brought to Elder’s home while MH broadcasts the cover up of Seo Joon Seok’s testimony. JH successfully grabs the opportunity to show Elder’s face on camera through his nifty camera spectacles that transmits his feed to Someday News.

We see that before MH’s broadcast, Dae Young has retrieved Seo Joon Seok’s interrogation recording and passed it to MH. The recording proved that a false murder accusation had been pinned on him.

YS berates JH for coming into her room through the window and he agrees to behave like a normal boyfriend, tolerating a whole lot of intimidation from Dad Chae and even going back to work, to earn a salary. The latter does not work out since he sleeps openly in the office.

In an attempt to control and own Healer, Elder, through Ahn, takes MH and YS, and threatens to hurt them, unless JH confesses to the killing of Park Dong Cheol. He has to remain on the run, while he collects the fingerprints of the thugs, hoping to find out which of them killed Park.

MHee has bugged MS’s office and hears that he lied about Ji An being dead. She leaves Moon Shik. She’s warmly welcomed at Someday News where she gives an interview and her side of the story of what the 5 friends had done.

YS astutely likens Elder and his minions to zombies. “That’s why we have to fight. If we sit still and not fight, they might bite us and we’d become zombies too.” Ahjumma contacts Det Yoon who still has a crush on her, to get him to check the fingerprints collected by JH.

JH finds out that Ahn and his goons are about to get their hands on Ahjumma. He helps her escape and finally meets her for the first time, looking like a bag lady. He persuades her to help him do a fun job of fighting against the people behind the minions.

Episode 19 ends with our fabulous four, Ahjumma, Moon Ho, YS and JH who arrive at the airport to set out on their mission to ‘fight’ beside JH.

Song: I Will Protect You (Ji Chang Wook)
My heart aches just watching you.
I’m afraid you’ll vanish when I close my eyes
I can’t take a step away from you
So again today, I am pacing back and forth beside you, my love

Even if you don’t turn around, I will still be here
So you can lean on me whenever you want

You’re the only one I want to hold
The person I can’t let go
Let me wipe away all your sad tears
You’re the only one who makes me smile
    Now don’t cry anymore
    I will protect you

    The one I’m thankful for
The person who warms my cold hands is you.
Even if I breathe, I wouldn’t be alive
I’d have no purpose If I can’t see you

You’re the only one I want to hold
The person I can’t let go
Let me wipe away all your sad tears
You’re the only one who makes me smile
    Now don’t cry anymore
    I will protect you

There is no other love like this
    Even after time passes
    Even if the world changes
    There’ll be only you

It’s okay if I suffer alone
If it’s for you, it’s okay
I will comfort you in your pain
You’re the only one who makes me smile
    Now don’t cry anymore
    I will protect you

I love you, always be by my side.

  9. Hello Friends, didn’t do my homework. Didn’t watch Episodes 16-19. It is OK to come after reading DramaBeans’ recaps a long ago? 😉 .

  10. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

My dear @FGB of course you can come and join us! You can read the detailed recaps of DB or just my very brief recap above or come anyway and ask us what is going on. Do join us!

  11. @GB, done the second 😉 . How are things on your side with your MIL?, how have you been?.

Last Saturday I lost the travel: they didn’t have vaccines. As you can see life is more chaotic here XD . The good news is that the group of people that traveled in vain like me were a riot and I had a great time with them 😀 .

  12. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

My dear @FGB I’m good, thank you. And thanks for remembering my MIL. She’s recovered a great deal, but I guess it will be hard for her to return to the way she was. It is a blessing, though, that she’s more able to care for herself now.

I’m sorry to know that you didn’t manage to get vaccinated yet, but am glad it wasn’t a totally wasted trip. So what do you do now? Wait for another announcement that there’ll be vaccination? I hope it can take place nearer your home.

  13. @GB, in an “Only in Venezuela” fashion (and to counterbalance) the nurse was pure love and she gave me her working phone number for me to call her after 6 PM to see if vaccines did arrive XD . Tried to call yesterday but couldn’t reach her though…

    Well, let’s go 😉

  14. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

Hi Everyone! It’s just on 9pm in my part of the world. But before we go, I’d like to draw your attention to a choice we can make for our future rewatches/watches

    @pkml3 and I are proposing:

Instead of watching “W – Two Worlds” from next week, we propose to delay starting it later. We’d like for @WEnchanteur to join us.

    1) Since we delay “W -Two Worlds” we can suggest drama specials or movies that we can watch instead for as many weeks as we have suggestions for shows.

    2) Or we can take a break and get back to rewatching later.

Let us know what you think!

  15. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

    Yes, @FGB let’s go!!!

  16. @FGB4877 it warms my heart to read your positive take on a frustrating day. I imagine I’d be angry in your shoes, after having devoted time, energy, and fuel to making a long trip only to have its purpose go unfilled.

Final Episode. I hear the music and feel a bit sad.

It always amuses me to watch good actors act like they’re uncomfortable in front of the camera. JCW also did that in the beginning of Lovestruck in the City. I love his little shy smile when he says “…I met some girl.”

  17. Good morning from this side of the world!!!

  18. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

@Welmaris I like the bookending. We began the series with the dreams of our protagonists and end by finding out that JH has changed his dream and he’s answering a series of interview questions that YS had for Healer, so he’s helping fulfill one of her dreams.

  19. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

I love the JH introduces himself to Dad Chae while fighting the 2 goons non-stop and even catching a falling article. So cool!!!

  20. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

Good morning @Janey! You’re in time.

I love how during the fighting, YS will calmly close her eyes so that she won’t hyperventilate, while JH kicks ass.

  21. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

LOL JH can’t string his story together so YS has to take over and all he does is agree with her! So cute, this pair.

  22. JH fighting in the cafe while introducing himself to YS’s father and coffee ahjussi, so fulfilling to watch. The whole sequence is great: the tag team explanation JH and YS give to her father (JH punctuating with words of agreement), YS’s father’s first thought being of his daughter’s safety and virtue, the almost kiss (to Papa’s chagrin)…all of it makes me love all these characters even more.

  23. Anneyong! Just wanted to say Hi!

    @GB that scene is epic…

    Xoxoxo to all!

  24. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

Moon Ho tells Myung Hee that he has something to tell her that night. By the time we see MHee next, she already knows who YS is.

MH is too trusting and almost gets caught again.

  25. I am okay with W being postponed for now… @packmule3 and @GB!

  26. “One day I met a girl”…

How funny and confident to introduce yourself officially to your gf’s parent while fighting. Pretty cool moves, JH.

  27. Hello @GB, @FGB, @Welmaris and @Janey…

I cannot live watch with you, but I sneaked in for a while…

  28. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

BTW @Janey and @FGB please give us your thoughts on whether to continue with other shows next week. Please see my comment upthread and @pkml’s conversation with me in the Healer Ep 14 thread.

  29. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

@Cleo please see the question on what to rewatch next above and in Ep 14 thread. Please tell us what you think.

  30. @GB,

Can we go with Goblin instead?

  31. @GB, let me try to find the actual thread.

  32. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

@Cleo, we’ll take suggestions and vote, I guess. @Welmaris also suggested a show and I did too.

    Thanks for dropping by!

  33. Aww the hug. Just 5 secs. And almost kiss. Hahaha. I laugh with YS.

Hello @Cleo! Glad to “see” you and @FGB and @Welmaris!!!

    @GB and @PM3. I agree. Let’s wait for @WE to rewatch W.

  34. Min-Ja telling Moon-Ho that character bashing for someone living from its reputation is more effective than killing makes me think that all the Ad Hominem attacks so prevalent in my country are more clever than I thought.

  35. My agapimeni @GB,

I am safe and sound. It is windy over here!

Okay then! This will do. I will be waiting for the list then…

I wanted to see you all online, although I don’t have access on Netflix at the moment!

How are you my darling @Janey?

  36. @FGB,

We have plenty of such phenomena to consider…

  37. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

Sure @Cleo, just hang out here even if you don’t watch the episode.

@Janey, do you have a preference for a show to replace W – Two Worlds for now?

  38. Ahjumma to Moon Ho’s rescue. She’s been displaced and her operation disrupted, yet she’s still working effectively.

JH in a different mode–both himself and Healer–is so confusing to the Someday News staff. What’s different? Something’s different. Hah!

We left Healer in his lair, as he was filming his talk, right after he said it made him angry when bad people messed with his people. Then we saw how his people were mistreated: Ahjumma’s office ransacked; the cafe attacked, staff restrained, and YS almost kidnapped; Moon Ho framed to ruin his reputation; Someday News being subjected to a protest for hire. Then we’re back in the lair with Healer as he continues his chat in front of the camera. To put all that story exposition in as a parenthetical statement is clever plot exposition.

  39. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

I love this scene of MHee coming to see YS at home and meet Dad Chae. So many tears! I can’t help smiling and crying at the same time.

  40. I am doing well and happy for the weekend @Cleo! It’s back to school for kids here so it was a bit hectic plus work. I have not watched kdrama until today! LOL. Hope you have a calm and good weekend.

@GB, will think of suggestions of what to watch in a bit… I like the idea of movies also.

  41. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

Now we see MS getting his comeuppance. He’s happier drunk and totally switching identities with his rival. What kind of mental issue is this?

  42. It’s great to see everyone coming out of their “hiding places” and working together with same purpose.

Noona and dad meeting for the first time. And noona looking at pictures of young YS. My mother’s heart aches but also she probably felt very thankful for Jian meeting this wonderful man who loves her like a true daughter.

  43. Healer’s little smile, again, when he talks about his most difficult job (finding YS). What great acting. JCW looks loving, shy, unaware he’s giving away so much of his feelings for YS, then embarrassed when he does realize. Such a natural flow of emotions cross his face, one to another.

I love that the cafe becomes the safe house and all these characters finally meet in a place we’ve come to love as home. And Ahjumma’s still knitting.

  44. @GB,

I will try to stay online as long as my internet connection is solid!

    @Janey,

Good to know you are okay
Yes, the first week of children returning to school is a bit stressful. I do hope you will relax during the weekend too.

I am relaxing. Tomorrow is the Assumption of Virgin Mary so this is a holy period for us.

  45. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

JH likes roughing up Sec Oh and messing his clothes while planting and retrieving his tracking devices. The best punishment for someone with OCD!

  46. YS has clearly told JH that he’s her first choice and top priority. That’s love. They’re in a difficult situation, but she makes it clear she wants to stay by his side. That’s love.

  47. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

I love this sudden ad hoc date.

And the hand hold that brings peace, since they were children.

From the script:”On the roof where Jung Hoo once sat alone (ep 5 #16), now Yeong Shin and Jung Hoo are sitting together. .Jung Hoo wrapped Yeong Shin behind him. watch the night view together
Jung Hoo raises Yeong Shin’s hand and kisses him.

Jung Hoo (OS) – (in tone to continue interview) Question. Likes… being high. First snow. small hands. white quilt. that hair. Dislikes… Anything that keeps you from being with them.

Yeong Shin pulls Jung Hoo’s hand and wraps it around her chest.”

  48. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

LOL JH merely leans back and Sang Soo ends up slapping YoYo. Not enough punishment for YoYo.

  49. What they both like is the most treasure memory I have from Healer…

    So beautiful. 💜

  50. @GB I get what JH likes but what does
    “That hair” means?

  51. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

Show is consistent. MH only knows one weapon, to broadcast the wrongdoings, and so he goes for a live broadcast during which a crime is unlikely to be committed. Poor Ahjumma has to get in touch with Det Yoon and she comes right into the men’s toilet.

LOL Yoon is such a soft touch with his sunbae.

  52. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

@Janey, I guess it was because the first time he met YS, JH caught her in the bus and had her hair almost in his face. He was after her hair, but she hid it under a woolly cap. He tends to like back hugging her, so again he gets close contact with her hair, LOL.

  53. Ah, that makes sense. I love back hugs.
When he said hair, I can’t help but think of ahjumma’s hair. LOL!!!

Operation Airport is on a roll.

  54. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

Love this scene: “The lobby looking down from the top of the escalator? Yeong Shin enters the frame (holding a camera bag). She walks towards it. After a while. Moon Ho (holding a bag with a laptop etc.) comes in from one side and sticks to Yeong Shin’s side. I walk side by side with Yeong Shin. After a while, Jung Hoo comes in from the other side and sticks to Yeong Shin’s side. Yeong Shin makes eye contact and smiles. The three walk side by side like model walking. Yeong Shin goes first, Jung Hoo, then Moon Ho finally gets on the escalator and goes up. Where they come up and see. Min Ja, who was waiting upstairs, side by side with them, turns and walks with them.”

  55. Love to see the three Musketeers… Who would be D’Artagnan?

  56. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

LOL love how JH first calls MH sajang-nim then flusters him by calling him samchoon.

Ahjumma is very relaxed up there, singing.

  57. I love this scene @GB…

  58. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

What didn’t make sense to me was that MH did not meet the right lady but the SS goons did not look for another lady or keep following MH to see if he met someone else.

  59. Two parents talking about the child they raised and loved. Myung Hee realizes how much was stolen from her, missing her daughter’s growth into adulthood.

MS claims to have loved Myung Hee for 30 years, but I am in full agreement with the response of her first husband and father of Ji An “Who measures love by time? Even if it’s only for one day, the depth and sincerity is what counts.” MS has always been into relationships for his own gain, not because he has a giving heart.

JH has Minion’s number: when he intentionally leaves Minion’s tie a mess, he knows he’s poking Minion where it hurts the most.

JH’s hand is so important to YS. She has held it in so many important moments in this drama, not always knowing it is him, but feeling that comforting energy, even when he was masquerading as the scaredy cat Bong Soo.

  60. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

Script: “Jung Hoo grabs Jae Yoon. Jae Yoon screams and bumps into Jung Hoo and hugs him.

Jae Yoon – What is it? Why is this person like this? (almost before crying)

Jung Hoo blocked the camera with one hand, are you ready for Yeong Shin? Says mouth.
Yeong Shin hated it and looked at it and said, ‘You’re dead’
Jung Hoo laughs. To Jae Yoon’s ear who struggles and tries to run away

Jung Hoo – You can scream.

He then holds Jae Yoon as a hostage. Screaming Jae Yoon. Yeong Shin quickly picked up the camera and took a picture. Jung Hoo grabs Jae Yoon roughly and drags him outside. Yeong Shin follows behind him.” – here YS is sulkily protecting JH and Jae Yoon by filming them for live broadcast.

  61. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

Script: “The assassin saw this. Stop by surprise step. taking a step backwards
    Then bang… gunshots.
Jae Yoon sits down in surprise and turns around.
Yeong Shin turns around. Scene from Yeong Shin’s gaze to slow. Jung Hoo lowers his hand holding the pistol, looks at Jae Yoon, then turns to Yeong Shin.
seems to be smiling a bit The gun in Jung Hoo’s hand falls to the floor. Then it falls Behind him, Detective Yoon runs with his gun still pointed. Now Yeong Shin just stands and watches. (I’m afraid it might be real, so I can’t confirm it) Yeong Shin slowly looking down. Red blood is dripping down the body of Jung Hoo who has fallen. Yoon Dong Won calls an ambulance. and screaming Moon Ho is seen running towards Jung Hoo.
Yeong Shin He loses his strength and sits down slowly. You can only hear your own wheezing breathing in your own ears.
Min Jae’s remarks were heard after being blacked out.

Min Jae (OS) – …one person was killed in a gunfight at the international airport.”

  62. I’ve lost my Viki feed twice in the same spot. I hope it’s not corrupted. I’m going to restart my computer to see if it solves the problem. That’ll mean I’ll be further behind the rest of you.

  63. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

That was a good fake out death. I remember how when I first watched it, I was disbelieving but still had faith in the show.

LOL JH doing a rehearsal of being shot by himself, in front of the mirror..

  64. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

OK @Welmaris. No worries, I keep pausing the episode to check on stuff and the script.

I’ve come to the part where MH meets Min Jae again after his fight with Elder is over. He’s finally free to put an arm around her, because she accepts the coffee he brought her.

  65. @GB,

For 10 seconds I couldn’t believe that he was being shot? I remember yelling at the screen…

  66. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

@Cleo, I was sure that show had to be trolling us, because it was so close to the end. It was good that the troll lasted only a few of minutes. I think all watchers around the world heaved a collective sigh of relief! LOL.

  67. @GB,

I think they should do a special episode. They closed it way too soon… I was not satisfied…

I read they had bugdet issues due to the fight scenes tbat cost way too much…

  68. Ended watching, now to read all your comments 😉

  69. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

Script of the end scene: “Yeong Shin stands and looks at Jung Hoo who’s got the camera. Jung Hoo jumps down and keeps shooting. Come right up to your nose and take a picture. Lowers the camera Yeong Shin leans back and kisses Jung Hoo.

Yeong Shin (OS) – What I like… His shutter sound. big hands. smiling eyes. big arms.

    _________________________________________________
On a roof (Script had it as instead a store)

Yeong Shin and Jung Hoo sit face to face (in the show, she’s actually leaning back against his chest) and drink beer Yeong Shin continues to laugh and say something. Jung Hoo looking at Yeong Shin making so much noise. He also smiles sometimes.

Yeong Shin (OS) – Dislikes… Anything that keeps you from being with them.

Yeong Shin barely stops talking and takes a sip of beer. A little foam on the lips. Jung Hoo bows his head and kisses the bubble.

  70. Still encountering problems at the same spot, but I can forward past it.

Ahumma in the restroom with Det. Yoon. He’s so happy to see his sunbae he almost forgets he’s mortified she’s in the men’s room. Then she tricks him with the open fly joke. Hah!

Viki dropped out again. What’s with this feed?

  71. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

I agree @Cleo. All those nice scenes of them at the end of the episode were cut too soon. They should have given us an extra 15 seconds even!

I like the closing credits showing them in BTS stills.

  72. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

Oh dear @Welmaris, all the best as you try again.

  73. When I first watched, I already had a feeling that it was going to be a fake death especially with Ahjumma working with her ex-colleague. It was too contrived and they all Planned this in a short time, too. But things can go wrong, too. Had to replay and saw that YS mouthed “you’re dead” to JH in the bathroom as she grabbed the biochemist lady. LOL, there you go!

  74. @GB,

They could add 10 more minutes. The conclusion would be way better… We did not find out what happened to the other characters at all…

Healer is a must if you are watching K-Dramas.

    @Friends,

It was good to be around with you! I have to go offline now. Have a great weekend! 🎈💜

  75. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

Here’s a succinct review in MyDramaList by a reviewer I like. I think I’ve chatted with this person before, and if I’m not mistaken he/she works in theatre.
    “Healer
15 people found this review helpful
    by wonhwa”

“Given K-drama’s reputation for being all about the romance, it’s surprising how rarely I’ve found the main couple to be the star attraction in shows I’ve watched. Healer may not have the most original of plots, but it nails the brave, aching, adorable love story between two lost children that forms its emotional core. It also proves that casting the right actors is often more critical than casting the “best” actors. Whatever Ji Chang Wook and Park Min Young may sometimes lack in technique, they more than make up for in heart, chemistry and a willingness to be vulnerable in front of the camera and each other. When they’re together on screen you’ll want to jump up and down, squeal and hug puppies. They’re also surrounded by a marvelous gang of unique, well-written supporting characters (I’m looking at you, Hacker Ahjumma), that you’d enjoy spending well over the allotted twenty hours hanging out with.

On the downside, I do wish the antagonists in the show were as multi-dimensional as the protagonists. The shadowy gang of leering oligarchs plotting EEEEVIL in back rooms felt preordered from central casting, with master plans that were too over-the-top to be really believable. I kept expecting them to start stroking Persian cats or feeding their piranhas. If you’re watching for the action thriller/romance elements, you probably won’t mind, but their cartoonish-ness undermines the credibility of the crusading journalists out to take down corruption strand of the story. It doesn’t diminish the fun, but it does make the show less socially relevant than it would like to be. There is also an odd casualness in the way that all of the characters, both good and bad, roam in and out of each others’ lives and lairs with impunity. I guess courage is virtue, but I’m not sure I’d curl up and take a nap in the heart of enemy territory.

This is a show though where the emotional through-lines not the plot mechanics are the real draw, and those deliver with a vengeance. You’ll laugh and cry and smile and fall in love. In an entertainment world full of lots of explosions but few real sparks, that’s reason to rejoice.”

  76. First of all, happy to read you, @Janey, @Welmaris and Kalimera @Cleo 😀 .

Loved the moment where YS’ mother connects with her adoptive father, it was lovely for her to see coming alive all the moments she lost to her husband’s greediness. This is a show not only about the heavy price many people have to pay to tell the truth, but it was an ode to those brave souls, and to the memory of what they have to sacrifice.

Good Journalists serves Truth and that is a Mission like being Doctors and Priests.

  77. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

    See you again @Cleo!

@Janey yes, it was quite obvious that it should have been a fake out, but I was nervous nevertheless!

@FGB well said! You are right!

  78. Have a great weekend @Cleo!!! Thanks for joining us.

I agree the last part of the ending was rushed. Not full closures on the characters. Even MH suddenly putting his arms around the lady producer was rushed to me.

I would love to see YS and her mom together, plus her dad, too.

  79. @Welmaris, well, had to take public transport which are more packed than an imported sardine can, and had to go several times to the ATM machine (had to search for a working one XD ) just to get the cash for it XD . Here that is normal. In fact if I ever escape I would have a riot of a time just by comparing the recipient country’s logic against my Venezuelan one XD .

  80. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

Yes, there was so much on my wishlist for the ending that we didn’t get.

I wanted JH to show YS to his mum, and for YS to introduce him as her boyfriend to her mum… although of course they met before.

A wedding and kids would of course have been too much to ask for, plus the pets and the goldfish suggested by Sabu.

So many great moments in this show. Such lovely relationships and warm interactions, and hope with those broken children who beat the odds to grow up ok. They even beat the ‘system’ that had tried to destroy them. I felt so healed by this show.

  81. @GB, yes I love your take about Healer’s self interview: it was both a fullfilment of YS’s dream as it was possibly a testament. He was playing with fire so it was also a Memento Mori.

  82. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

@FGB, I’m getting a tiny glimpse of how it is like for you in normal daily life. My thoughts and commiserations go with you. It’s lovely that you take it in the best way.

  83. @Cleo, thankfully fires didn’t come near you. Hope you are OK but please elaborate some escape routes just in case 🙂 .

  84. Thanks for the rewatch!!! Will go back to thread in a bit. Have to prepare breakfast!!!my household is awake early this Saturday. 😉

  85. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

@FGB, the other thing I didn’t mention about dreams was Moon Ho’s dream. It was at first a wish to not dream at all because of the recurring nightmare, then later he tells Min Jae that he is no longer unenthusiastic about waking up, but has changed to look forward to each day. It was such a happy realisation for him.

  86. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

See you @Janey! So glad you could join us!

  87. “Simple, huh?” These bad people think killing a human being is a simple thing. That’s what makes them so evil.

The assembly of our team backed by the beloved Healer music. I get chills, even thought I’ve seen it several times. And Ahjumma handing out ear pieces? She does it like a mom handing things to her bratty kids.

Ahjumma sings again. I love her so much! She and YS’s dad need to do a duet!

Even though I’ve seen this episode several times, I continue to feel the building tension because there are so many pieces pulling together.

The live bacteria research, and the village that was sickened…it’s almost as if this drama knew what was in our future, including the conspiracy theories.

The climatic shooting scene works so well because of all the players’ believable reactions. But when we see the replay from their POV, we see that it was acting after all. All of “our” team were in on Plan B including Detective Yoon. I’m glad Show didn’t make us wait long for us to see what really happened.

I’m glad everyone on “our” team contributed their talents to finally bring down Elder and his evil network, although we don’t see what happened to Moon Sik and Minion. They do need to pay for their crimes, as they were responsible for the killing of people. Just because Moon Sik has lost touch with reality because of his guilt doesn’t mean he gets a pass.

What an engaging, entertaining ride this has been, rewatching Healer with fellow fans. I wish I had a smoother experience with the last episode, but oh well… I didn’t miss anything because I’ve seen it before.

I’m going to nap a bit, attend a 10am – noon Zoom meeting, then come back here to read commentary and respond.

    Thanks for the memories, everyone!

  88. @GB, the scene with the two parents is poignant in many levels, Myung-Hee is in front of a fully grown woman that has been killing it as an Interviewer, but it fills me with sadness to know that she wasn’t there when she was growing up, as an angsty teen, as a College student. Those memories are priceless so the scene with the albums are a grieving of time lost.

  89. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

So FGB, you must try and call that pretty nurse again!

And tell us if you’ve any shows you’d like to watch/re-watch on Saturdays.

I will post here a list of shows that we are suggesting we can watch together.

  90. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

Thanks for being here for the rewatch, everyone! I’ll see you later and read you @FGB.

  91. Dear Friends, it has been a pleasure to watch this Drama with all of you.

Moon-Shik was a wonderful villain. It was interesting that he had to detach himself from his actions.

@GB, well… life here is always interesting XD …

1.- Your quote on the importance of casting the right actors rings a lot of bells. Finding the best people to do the best job possible is much better than having a lot of highly accomplished participants that could or could not get along well and possibly having a different vission of what the end product should be.

2.- Moon-Ho slept well when he decided to do what his heart wished. He decided to take on Truth no matter how hard or how horrible it could be. That is his arch, much like Ahjumma was to regain her faith in Justice or Myung-Hee to discover that all was not lost.

@Welmaris, loved Ahjumma so much. She was the definition of hard love 😉 .

  92. Well Friends, I will go to sleep now. Catch you later and a priori count on me for the next watch 😉

  93. Dear Everyone, I was unable to watch because I was away from home and without internet. I loved reading your comments and summaries.

@Growing Beautifully, thank you for the song lyrics and the recaps. I would have a hard time to choose between favourite moments in this last episode. I laughed out loud when JW beat up the baddies in the cafe in front of Chae and coffee Ahjussi. So satisfying since they had accepted ‘Bong Soo’ as a friend already, while wishing that he was less of a coward about fighting. Of course the scene where Myung Hee meets YS’s father is so precious. He is so sensitive to her needs without being too obvious.

  94. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

My dear @Fern, you are most welcome. It’s strange that 7 years ago, I was crazy about this show, but never thought to collect the song lyrics. I found to my pleasure that they all reflect the situation, the frame of mind and the longing in the hearts of our beloved protagonists. Knowing the lyrics added an extra dimension to knowing the characters and loving this show.

Yes, I loved that scene too… too many fave scenes in this episode.
Every meeting between Mum and YS was gold, with so many unspoken words but hearts that flew between Mum and daughter.

The meeting between Mum and Dad Chae too, so full of respect and understanding, and again, without the words to acknowledge openly what relationship they had. I wanted an extra episode to show us how they interacted openly after acknowledging themselves as Mum and daughter, with JH sitting among them. I wanted a scene where JH was with his ‘family’ that included them and Ahjumma and Dad Chae and Coffee Ahjusshi and Moon Ho.

Still it was a far better ending than some other shows I was invested in. Therefore I am grateful. It’s still the most beloved among the shows I’ve watched.

  95. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

@FGB, You’ve summarised it well: the growth arcs. The reason for so much satisfaction derived from this show is that even the side characters have grown, they have finally been allowed to follow their hearts, to see that what was dreamed of was not entirely impossible. In contrast, Moon Shik lost everything he thought he had, including his mind (when drunk). Pity he could not be totally mad, since in his sober moments it was probably hell for him. That is comeuppance too.

In the script where Moon Ho sits at the airport and calls JH over, it’s also mentioned, how MH thinks, how afraid he is. He was able to take the more dangerous risks because of JH:
    “Moon Ho – Jung Hoo.
    Jung Hoo – (Looking around)
Moon Ho – (Come and sit next to me)
Jung Hoo – (Looking towards Chief Ahn and sitting next to him. He pulls the earphones out of his ears) We shouldn’t pretend to be too close.
Moon Ho – Do you really have to go this far?
Jung Hoo – Because this is plan B. If this doesn’t work, I’ll have to go to Plan C.
Moon Ho – It can be dangerous. No. Very dangerous. This.
    Jung Hoo – Boss.
    Moon Ho – Think again.
Jung Hoo – Is that a habit?
    Moon Ho – …what?
Jung Hoo – Just thinking. Doing simulations every day, but never play the main game?
Moon Ho – (Looking at) How come I cannot win with you? (Laughs)
    Jung Hoo – Samchoon.
Moon Ho – (Couldn’t believe it) What was it?
Jung Hoo – I can’t say it twice.”

It occurred to me, that Ahjumma being ‘evicted’ from her lair was a blessing too. She had still clung on to her guilt over the loss of her son, as evinced by her collection of knitted children’s things. She was forced to let go much of what she had been attached to, when she left with only the crucial hardware and her good kimbap rolling mat.

    Script: “#93 Min Ja’s Hideout

Min Ja is putting the computer’s hard drives into something like a big eco bag. She swept away the folder phones that were next to her. It’s the glasses I’ve been making, so I sweep away those tools. Then, on the other hand, tap the keyboard. Several monitors are in the process of being deleted. And one by one the monitors turn off. Min Ja runs as if thinking about it, takes the kimbap tray and throws it into the bag. I look at the knitting works that are lined up over there, looking at it once more with regret.”

After this we see her with less crazy hair, out and about, rather than hiding indoors. It augers well.

I believe she had the most hairstyle changes, even though JH put on the most disguises. My fave was her look when she entered Coffee Bay the first time, to get YS to save Healer.

  96. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

Since we are more likely to come back here to read this thread, I’m compiling our suggestions here and you can add on below.

Suggestions for a Saturday Watch or ReWatch

    @packmule3’s suggestion
About W: Two Worlds, I think we should wait till Wenchanteur comes back. That’s his specialty. He named himself after it.

How about we give him some more time to attend to pressing issues? Say two weeks?

We can have a “summer break” and start in September.

Or we can do movies while waiting for him.

    @growingbeautifully’s suggestion
    I’m agreeable. …

Let’s just wait a while, and do maybe some drama specials or movies instead. I watched a very nice, ‘bitter-sweet,’ but mostly sweet Chinese movie based on another movie “On Your Wedding Day” for eg. This newer version is entitled: My Love and came out this year, 2021. a different kind of happy ending?

(I like the male lead, Greg Hsu!)

    @Welmaris’ suggestion
At the advice of a friend who’s a Japanese teacher, I recently watched Caution: Hazardous Housewife on Viki. It’s a Jdorama from 2017 that’s 10 episodes long, each a bit less than one hour. It has humor, but also tackles issues such as domestic abuse, bullying, etc. I don’t want to give too much away. The female lead is trying to settle into a new, happy life but keeps having to secretly use the talents of her old life for the benefit of her new neighbors. I like the way this show depicts friendships between women. Maybe we could try an episode or to as a Saturday watch party then decide if we want to continue?

    @Cleo’s suggestion
    Goblin

  97. @GB, in another thread I did suggest the 2017 10-episode Jdorama “Caution: Hazardous Wife” (on Viki). I loved it.

I’d also be very interested to rewatch Goblin with all of you.

@Cleopatra, thanks for popping in to say hello.

  98. Oh, Greg Hsu is the lead in Some Day, One Day! I have to check out his movie.

I was also thinking of watching Days of Being Wild (it’s in Dramacool) and see how it relates to YAMS.

I’m also ok to take break and resume in September. Goblin is also a good option while we wait for @WE.

I’ll check out the suggestion of @Welmaris also.

  99. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

@Welmaris your suggestion has been compiled upthread. Our posts must have crossed each other. 🙂

@Janey, OK noted your suggestion on Days of Being Wild. Thanks for the note that it’s on Dramacool… then I should be able to get hold of it.

OK, with even just these 4 suggestions, it looks like we’ll need a bit of a break. We need time to check out the shows, to know which we will vote on to start watching first. Shall we take a break on 21st Aug and come back here on 28th Aug to vote?

In the meantime, EVERYONE please feel free to add more show suggestions. We need not be limited to 4, but they are good for a start, or we’ll never be able to decide!

We’ll need time to maybe do a first watch (not mandatory of course!) of the chosen show, so we can jump back into watching together, say on 4th Sept?

One note though, I may drop in but will come in to watch only if I can complete my ‘project prep’ that starts on Monday 6th Sep. My 2nd project will only end at the end of Sep so it’s touch and go for me, but you all go ahead.

    Read ya all later!!

  100. I just want to pop in and say this is my first Saturday of no rewatch with the BoD. Will miss you all. Happy weekend! I hope everyone is doing well. Virtual hugs.

  101. Hi, Janey. There will be others.

I hope that things are going well for you this summer.

  102. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

Hi @Janey and @Fern, (and of course all our friends who come by here!) I hope you’re well! Yes, I miss our rewatch date too. It’s like something is missing in my week!!

However, I found that I really need this break to get my prep work started. It will take me a couple of weeks to complete, I believe.

Are there any more recommendations on what to do for our next rewatch?

I was wondering if we should allow ourselves to vote for more than 1 show and to give our votes weightage like 3 for ‘really want to watch’ and 1 for ‘don’t mind watching’, but perhaps I’m just complicating things that way.

Hmmm…Should we just have 1 vote each or votes with a weightage???

Suggestions so far for a Saturday Watch or ReWatch
    4 shows in alphabetical order:

Caution: Hazardous Housewife (recommended by Welmaris)
This is on Viki.

I read the synopsis and it sounds like fun. It’s a short series, which is always a good thing when I’m feeling the time crunch.

Days of Being Wild (recommended by Janey)
This is a 1990 Hong Kong Movie with the dance moves that we saw our Ju Young Do emulate in YAMS.

Why I don’t mind watching… it’s just 1 hour 34 minutes and it will make a change from the usual fare for me.

    Goblin (recommended by Cleo)
Also known as Dokkaebi or Guardian: The Lonely and Great God. This is a Kim Eun Sook, 16-episode kdrama with Gong Yoo, Kim Go Eun, Lee Dong Wook and Yoo In Na. It is beautiful to behold and has all the kdrama ingredients of being funny, warm, suspenseful, angsty with healing. The ending is not liked by some. I thought it was ‘logical’ for this kdrama universe.

I don’t mind watching it again for the character interactions and the supernatural. This was the show that introduced more Korean beliefs and myths to me. I actually liked the main pairing more than I cared for the 2nd leads.

My Love (2021) (recommended by GB
This is a Chinese Movie, and another adaptation of ‘On Your Wedding Day’. It is a bitter-sweet romance and relatable.

I watched it because I read a rave review of this by @kfangurl (https://thefangirlverdict.com/2021/08/08/flash-review-my-love-china-movie/). I tried it, and didn’t regret it at all. The other great reason to watch is for Greg Hsu (Someday or One Day). 🙂

  103. Kalimera my darlings @Janey, @Fern, @GB…!

I do hope you are all well.
We are having rewatch parties since January or February!?

I totally understand that you miss it today @Janey. I have some work to do these days so, it helps that we are having a break!

@GB, all the suggestions seem to be very interesting so, I am okay with any of these.

    Still I will vote! *smiles*
I have to do research first!

    ❤️🌹😘

  104. I needed the break, too TBH! But I miss the chitchat and the thought of a gathering together at the same time, albeit virtually.

And it’s as if @PM3 read my mind, we have an open thread for bitch talk! TYVM!!! Hope to read what everyone has been up to in that thread. Cheers!!!

  105. I won’t lie: being able to sleep in this Saturday morning felt good, but not as good as getting up pre-dawn and visiting online with my beloved Bitches while watching a favorite drama.

I could make the list of possible rewatches a long one, but thinking about classic Kdramas, I’ve wanted to watch Jewel in the Crown. Has anyone else seen it? It’s on Viki. The biggest problem is that it is *gulp* 60 episodes long, each one hour. That an enormous commitment.

  106. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

Hi Everyone! I trust this post finds everyone well. It’s Saturday and I believe it’s time to start our vote on what to watch or re-watch.

At the risk of complicating the vote count, I’m going to do 2 ways of voting.
    1) If we have only 1 vote each… then my vote goes to Days of Being Wild Reason: it’s an art movie so there are things to ask about and talk about and we can finish watching it within 2 weeks (It’s cut into 2 ‘episodes’ of 47 minutes + 46 minutes).

    2) If we desperately want to vote for more than 1 show, then I’d give Days of Being Wild a weighted vote of 3
    and
Goblin a weighted vote of 1
Reason for Goblin: I liked the supernatural setup in this show. It was consistent. Show gave comments on life through the tales of death, that were noteworthy. I enjoyed this Show at my first watch and now that we know what to expect, there’s so much hindsight ‘info’ that we can come up with to chat about. We can decide if we want to watch just selected episodes or whether we want to commit to 16.

So that’s my vote. Please give us yours!!!

  107. Kalimera everyone!

It is my time to vote!

I believe that it would be nice to watch “Days of being wild” in order to have a better understanding on YAMS.

I will continue to vote for “Goblin or Guardian:The Great and Lovely God”. I would love to watch it together with you.

As for Caution: Hazardous Housewives and My Love, I will add them to my list, because I haven’t watched neither.

The reason I am not voting for them is that for the time being my time is limited due to several RL issues and I am not progressing in any other show except LotRD.

  108. Hi. Like Cleopatra, I wouldn’t mind watching Goblin. I’ve never watched it and it seemed to spawn a number of similarly themed dramas.

  109. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

Hi @Cleo and @Fern! Thanks!! OK so we seem to have:

    3 votes for Goblin
2 votes for Days of Being Wild

We’ll wait a bit for more votes and in the meantime, I hope to become less busy (that will be October though!)

    Catch ya’ll later!
