Lovers of the Red Sky: Eps 13 & 14

The thread is now open, @Cleopatra. Are we the only ones discussing this show? Should I put a password since it’s just the two of us?

More sweet moments like this, please, Show?

The problem with HaRam’s metaphor is that the stars and the sun can’t be seen in the sky at the same time since the sun is too bright. We know that they’re up there in space together, though, although they’re not together.

I guess he can mean that he’s always missing her, even when she’s always in his thoughts.

Let’s us then enjoy the show.

  1. Kalimera @Packmule3!

Thank you for opening this week’s thread!

In the beginning, @Linnea, @agdr03, @Welmaris, @nrllee and @HK_Lady were commenting as well.In the last thread only @HK_Lady posted something, so I will follow your lead. I will be here discussing this with you until the end. πŸ˜€

  2. Howdy! I’m still watching this. Just a little busy but I should be able to watch it tonight’s episode.

    Thanks 😊

  3. I don’t watch the show but I read the posts. Hope you keep them open for lurkers like me. πŸͺπŸͺπŸͺπŸͺπŸͺ

  4. Hello! Thank you @Cleopatra for mentioning me! I’m watching and discussing, apart from last week’s threads bc of current work overload. It’s only now I can catch up with your posts from the last few days. We’ll stick to the end and I’m enjoying both the show and the discussion here πŸ˜€

  5. @packmule3, it’s that JOMO thing. I’ll have more time this week to catch up. The weather has turned. πŸŒ§οΈβ˜”πŸŒ§οΈ

  6. No passwords, no passwords! πŸ™‚

  7. Annyeong!

I am glad you all stopped by! Of course I would say so @Linnea! πŸ™‚

We have discussed before and I can understand if some of you are doing JOMO, since I am doing this myself.
After all, we are a week away from conclusion, and I am preparing myself for the necessary emotional building up. Let us see how they will proceed tonight!

  8. @Cleopatra πŸ™‚ <3! (I don't know how to insert emojis here, I'm typin on my computer right now) Anyhow I cannot wait for this week's episodes as well. The show is definitely worth rewatching and I would say it also needs some proper rewatch bc of the complicated mythical world building. I wish I could read the book as well.

(On another note – I saw some teasers for The Red Sleeve Cuff and they are mesmerising, so I'm waiting for this one as well, only two weeks. How nice to have another sageug coming right after LOTS is ending)

  9. I was waiting for the worst to happen and we left with another epic cliffhanger. Thanks goodness Episode’s 14 preview calmed down…

    *phew*

    P.S. @Linnea <3

  10. correction: Calmed me down.

  11. @Packmule3, I am also watching this show, but as I explained to @Cleopatra on another thread, after finishing episodes 13 & 14 I felt…meh. The other shows I’m currently watching have better captured my attention. We’ll see if my interest in LotRS is reignited after watching Episode 15 tonight.

  12. Howdy! I had a tiny laugh when there was that pause when CG called HR and then the demon said ‘my eyes’. That’s what I thought he was going to say. LOL!

So HR used the divine ring so he can see what’s happening while the demon is manifesting. I thought when Shamsin said there will be a sacrifice tonight, it would be Prince 2. But Mawang didn’t kill him anyway.

When the painting of the King was shred to pieces, I believed then that it will have to be a divine bowl that will seal Mawang. Shamsin kept saying a bowl and not a painting. I don’t know. hahaha

  13. Hey @agdr03,

Yes, you are right. HaRam used to divine ring in order to have his consciousness when MaWang was manifesting.

I was expecting things to go very wrong after Samshin told the mountain spirit not to interfere and that there would be a sacrifice tonight. I didn’t believe that MaWang would kill Prince 2. That was not the case for HaRam thought.

After that cliffhanger and watching Episode’s 14 preview, MaWang might have killed Mi Su, that’s why the current head of the Shamanist Bureau Wol Seon tried to complete the sealing ritual. As it seems, greed made the 2nd Prince and MiSu to overlook the fact that there are some *specific days* that can bring success, where there are others that don’t. They didn’t believe that HaRam pointed the correct date and they changed the aftercome of the ritual.
So for now, we wait and we see!

  14. Hi @Cleopatra! πŸ™‚

Yes, base from the preview, it’s calmed down again. I wonder whether Mawang was killed by that special knife that Prince Yul used. Hopefully HR will remember about the eyes. hahahahah

So the ring was made by another deity? because they showed a scene where HR’s father was telling Mawang to leave HR’s body and that was before he died. Maybe that night that HR’s father was killed, Mawang manifested, that’s why the dad looked the same with those people that died in the forest.

I’m wondering too whose the old man in the prison cell.

  15. @Agdr03 πŸ˜€

I believe from the fragments of what we saw the following happened:

HR’s father realized after the Salamander ritual that MaWang was inside HaRam’s body. If he found out about the fire in the royal painting, he could easily connect the dots.

HR’s father tried to do an exorcism, but MaWang was slowly manifesting for the first time on HR. The Royal guards went there and they cut the ropes that was holding the exorcism ground together. So, I think that HR’s father got attacked twice. One time from MaWang who knew him as the Taoist Buraeu Nari who locked him in that portrait and twice from that Royal Inquisitor.

We shall learn the truth eventually.

As for the old man in the prison cell, I believe he was someone important from the Taoist Buraeu that the last King required his arrest after the ritual sealing. As you have seen, they kill everyone involved in any ritual that doesn’t suit the Royal Family’s fame and immaculate reign…

  16. Yes, I think your right @Cleopatra about HR’s father being attacked twice on the night he died. I wonder who made the ring.

    Let’s wait and see.

  17. @agdr03,

So far all the questions are being answered within the next episode(s).
If it was a divine item made by the bones of the second shin from Samshin then, they might answer who made that ring. It is a pity we don’t know what was being written in that published book(s).

I am waiting patiently. I am enjoying the series anyway. I am very fond of the fantasy genre anyway!

  18. Please no password for lurkers like me, I am enjoy reading the comments and analysis here

  19. Over the years I have been a silent faithful readers and extremely grateful that i come across this fabulous blog..please please NOoo passwords..

  20. This was a sad episode to watch…😐

BTW, @agdr03 we got intel of who the old man might be. I think he has to be the one who made that divine ring! Is he a deity as well? He might be…

  21. Thanks @Cleopatra. I can’t wait to watch it tonight but the sad bit. 😬

  22. So many questions:

The old man in the prison has divine powers, but is he human or spirit? He’s shown to be connected to the Balance God bone ring. Is he the spirit of the Balance God? He wasn’t confined by the wooden restraint or the stone prison walls, able to come to the king on his sickbed and revive him. That makes me think he’s more spirit and less human.

Who is the female who talks with Ha Ram about “our” revenge? How are she and Ha Ram connected, and how has she been wronged by the royal family? It seems she informed CK of her father’s capture because she’s jealous of CK’s relationship with Ha Ram and wanted to eliminate her rival.

Does Ha Ram know that his beloved right-hand-man has been killed at Prince#2’s house? That whole rescue mission seemed ill conceived, as they entered enemy territory–an enclosed space where they could be trapped–with a small defensive force. They should’ve had archers on the roofs.

Two more episodes to go. From the previews, it seems Hwacha will make a reappearance. And since Sam Shin is the one who put Ma Wang into Ha Ram and MW’s eyes into CK, I’m hoping SS finally makes good on her promise to set everything right.

It is interesting to see that Sam Shin and Mountain Spirit still have their disagreements on how to proceed. Sam Shin warned Mountain Spirit to not interfere in the sealing ritual, which she didn’t, but disapproved of Mountain Spirit diverting the arrow aimed at Ha Ram and CK.

I’m getting tired of seeing Prince#2 sneering. It used to be just on one side of his mouth, but now his whole top lip is twitching and raising in derision. The actor needs to work harder and bring more depth into showing he’s a bad dude.

  23. Kalimera everyone!

The more I think about what happened last night, I tend to believe that since the ring is made by the bones of the second Shin of Balance that MaWang killed and ate, then it means, that some essence of the second Shin still exists.

So, that man that was in the prison cell is the spirit of the second Shin.

@Welmaris, she is a courtesan. The one the second Prince humiliated some episodes ago. I believe she did so because she was jealous of her and her connection with HaRam / Il Wol-sung. At the same time, the Royal Family has done many awful things over the years. They might have killed her parents.

I am not optimistic about the ending. We know that MaWang is going to take over HaRam’s body so the next exorcism is going to take place along with that eternal bowl.

If Cheon Gi strikes a deal with Hwatch it remains to be seen.

After yesterday’s episode, I think that Cheon Gi will sacrifice herself no matter what. She has done it already once for her father and she has decided to do so for her family in the Baekyu Painters Society. Even though, HaRam told her that he doesn’t want to lose her and he will try to find a solution, she still does whatever she feels its right.

So, I don’t think we will have a happy ending. I am waiting for an open one.

  24. @Welmaris,

Thanks for your comments. Suddenly I’m inspired to finish Eps 13 & 14 so I can answer your questions. β€” I’m channeling Il Wol Seong. I like his Question Box hence my Q & A Open Threads. πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

    @Cleopatra

So that old man in the dungeons with HaRam is a like a god of Balance? Interesting. I can see that theory working.

He’s one powerful old man though since he cured HaRam after his near-death experience with Mawang. Will at her up with you all soon.

  25. @packmule3,

I think that is the case. If you watch Episode 14 you will understand why I wrote that.
He did more than curing HaRam… πŸ˜‰

  26. Annyeong,

Yes, I’m here πŸ˜„ Thanks @Cleo for the mention πŸ’š Yes, NO PW please @PM3. thank you.

    Ep 13
Haram fearlessly grabbed Prince2’s sword – ouch! I was thinking if I were CK, i don’t know if i have the courage to get out of that palanquin. Aww Haram trying to distract the men his his bleeding hand 😒

I’m glad Prince3 asked for forgiveness even though it was not taken. it just means he acknowledges the wrong did to Haram by the royal family.

so the ring could’ve helped HaRam sooner not to have those memory lapse if he wore the ring. i know he needed the ring, but i also wanted CK to have it. but i guess for the sealing ceremony, Haram needed it more. it was cool how it shone. now the evil priestess knows that Mawang is out to get Ck’s eyes.

i was hoping MaWang would kill off Prince2, but i guess Mawang’s grip does not easily kill anyone ??? didn’t he kill those soldiers like nothing? Prince3 lives on to resume his evil.

    Ep 14
Poor Prince3 exiled. that easy? thankfully he has supporters and he was able to stay in the capital.

the evil Prince2 has evil advisors as well setting up all those traps for our OTP. CK is so stubborn, no matter how HR tries to keep her safe. she’s not afraid and does not think of herself, but the ones she love.

i’m glad the tiger spirit saved our OTP from the arrow of Prince2. I was hoping when Prince2 tried it again, the Tiger spirit will come to the rescue again. instead, CK lost her dad. even in his last breath, he admonished her not to do the royal painting.

what is up with MaeHyang? augh. she seemed jealous enough even though her reason was for their revenge. i’m glad Haram corrected her that their revenge should not involve innocent people. Yes! that Mae girl is spiteful.

yea, i was iffy about that rescue, too. too easy. Haram underestimated Prince2. fool him once, not twice. tsk tsk. they fell into another trap. this episode is full of them.

i also thought that MooYoung is a better fighter than that! really?? so sad. no more right hand man for our Haram. 😭 i like his last thoughts for Haram.

looks like the old man in the prison is freed and has awakened the king, the same way he awakened Haram. we will find out why he wanted to talk with HaRam.

can’t believe we’re almost to the finale. ahhhhhh another show ending. 😿
