Tomorrow: Eps 1 & 2 Open Thread

The thread is now open.

Here’s the synopsis from soompi:

“Tomorrow” is a new fantasy drama starring Rowoon as Choi Joon Woong, who gets into an unfortunate accident while struggling to find a job. As a result, he crosses paths with grim reapers Goo Ryun (Kim Hee Sun) and Lim Ryoong Goo (Yoon Ji On), who work together to save the lives of those who are contemplating suicide, and he winds up joining their team in the underworld as their youngest member.

Warning: As you can see from the synopsis, this story will have content about suicide. If you are feeling suicidal, thinking about hurting yourself, or struggling with this issue, then this kdrama and my blog post(s) on this kdrama may not be for you. It might be good to avoid watching this drama or to watch it with a trusted friend. Take care of your mental health first. I’m saying this as a parent.

It premieres on Friday, April 1. It’ll be on Netflix. It stars Rowoon (“Extra-ordinary You”) and Kim Hee Sun (that disastrous sci-fic “Alice”). I don’t see a an ahjumma romance since they’re grim reapers. Or am I being too naïve to think that grim reapers don’t feel horny?

Also, Kim Hee Sun has a school-aged daughter. It’ll disconcerting for her to see her mom on tv kissing Santa or a handsome young actor like Rowoon.

Let’s enjoy the show!

Thanks for the notice and thread @pkml3. My reaction though is neutral but verging on a shudder. Perhaps I’ll try to augment my observation of Lent by fasting on stuff that takes time away from more uplifting activities.
    😇 😜 🤭 😉

  2. In all my kdrama lifetime, about anything, I have only one NO: it’s Rowoon. 💩
Tell me anything to convince me, I won’t listen, I was born stubborn to death! 😝
    🙈🙉🙊

  3. Kalimera @Packmule3,

Thank you for the thread and your warning! This is the show I’ve been waiting for!

  4. Thanks for the warning @pm3 much appreciate it.

Curious about but not sure if I’ll watch it. Maybe when I’m done with current things.

    @WE you are funny!! Lol
I had to google him to remember him. 🤦🏽‍♀️

  5. @PM3, thanks for the heads up ~ reminder, warning. Appreciate your thoughtfulness. I’ll be watching Rowoon! 💙 #guiltypleasure

  7. I tried episode 1. To me it’s a pretty silly show dabbling in some serious topics. Is it meant to be crazy ridiculous or are we supposed to take it seriously?

*Rowoon wakes from a coma after near drowning with his perfect haircut in place. (Did the nurses style him while he was unconscious?)
*Oops, the lady reaper gave him a very good body. What is wrong with the one he was speaking to her out of? Perhaps he asked especially for at least a glimpse to be shown.
*Lots of overacting on Rowoon’s part.
*Disney-type music when the reapers get to their very glitzy palatial headquarters.
*Special effects so plentiful that they lose their effect or have no reason.
*The giant white shoulders on the Director’s suit.

Not my thing. It’s possible that the other actors can elevate this and I like some of them very much. I’ll watch the comments, but would prefer something less OTT.

  8. Kalimera everyone!

I watched episode 1 and I have to applaude the Production Team that put a disclaimer that said that people with suisical urges SHOULD NOT by any means watch this show and they should call a Help Line instead.

The Show talks about suicide. It is not a light matter. They are using Hanzas who escort souls to the afterlife and a Risk Team who tries to prevent suicides. So, it does so, by balancing between serioussness / drama and comic relief.

I really think that they had a good pilot. I was even impressed by Rowoon. I didn’t except him to be that comical and naive.

The fantasy elements are spot on.
Kim Hee Sun has elegance and a bad a** aura in this one.
Lee Soo-Hyuk has a menacing look and vibes. I am waiting to see him more in order to say more.
Yun Ji-On is pretty good and our known Halmeoni Kim Hae-Sook from Start Up plays the Jade Emperor.

I am waiting for tonight’s episode to say more.

  9. Kalimera,

With all the havoc created after the ending of 25-21, I forgot to write about this. I will continue to watch this. I am curious to see where it will go.

As for Rowoon. His character seems to be the empath in this dramaverse. I am intrigued about how he will portray this aspect. So, I won’t be so hard on him from the first two episodes. 🙂

I will be back…(no wicked laughter though! *winks* )

  10. Anneyong!

It is the only series I continue watching and I really like it even though the subject is not an easy thing to watch.

Still, it is memorable and I want to see what happens next!

  11. How much I love these series, you don’t really know!
It is so good and it brings awareness to the evils of the world.

Do watch it and you will not regret it!

  12. One of my favorites shows for 2022 came to an end and I am happy and sad at the same time.

It might be heavy because of the issues that are being covered, but I loved the messages it gave to the audience!

I don’t want to write more. If you feel like watching, you will be rewarded!
