Business Proposal: Eps 11 & 12 Open Thread

The final episodes are here!!!

What I expect:

a. wedding bells for Hari and Taemoo. I want the whole fluffy, happily-ever-after ending.

I want to see her proudly announce to the whole world that he’s her husband to make up for her forced confession that he’s her boyfriend.

b. bed scene during the honeymoon.

No, I personally don’t need to see this scene, but I think AHS gave it away in the behind-the-scene footage that there’s going to be a more private display of affection than what we’ve seen.

These were private moments in Eps 9 and 10. If you ask me, a *more* private moment is an intimate moment.

Warning: Don’t be dismayed to see his narrow shoulders and toothpick legs.

c. grandkids for the grandpa.

Please! The only occasion we have children in recent kdramas is for flashback to a defining moment in the past when the leading characters were young and innocent. Can’t we have children in the future, too, when the leading characters are married?

Here’s the song Kim SeJeong and Ahn HyoSeop promised if their shown ratings reached double digits.

The English sub from https://kgasa.com/melomance-love-maybe/

I imagine the things I want to do with you
and become my daily life
When I see you having fun
I’m naturally smiling after you

I was excited because of your actions, tossing and turning around
There are more nights left

This is obviously love
You’ll get sick of it if you’re with me all day
Even if I turn around, it’s all you
I guess it’s love

I think about what I wanted to do with you
I spend more days than usual

This is obviously love
You’ll get sick of it if you’re with me all day
Even if I turn around, it’s all you
I guess it’s love

When I see you happy,
I laugh along without realizing it

I think you already understand it
You have to be brave too.
If I’m not the only one like this
We deserve to meet
I guess it’s love

Okay. They’re cute as buttons. As cute as that other couple in “Our Beloved Summer.”  This couple —

yay thank you @packmule3! let’s enjoy the show together! while I wait for the airing, I’m going to be enjoying the duet.

  2. Amen to that Queen @Packmule3!

I want to see happy and positive scenes tonight!
It is definetely added on my Comfort Kdramas… 😊

  3. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

Thanks @pkml3. I was about to post the link to the duet, and that’s when I realised that we didn’t have this thread yet. They were so earnest about singing that song. 😁

  4. They’re cute and I hope in ten years they do another drama together….And possibly fall in love and marry and make babies.
I need to do a blog search, do you have a post about comfort dramas? I do love those. Sometimes I have to go watch random scenes in dramas before I fall asleep.

  5. Waaaaaa! It’s almost here! More than anything I want grandkids for Haraboji! 🙏🏼
I want it more for this drama than anything.

    I’d love a wedding! 🙏🏼

I also don’t want it to be too angsty. 🙏🏼

    I’m happy to have a bed scene, I don’t mind. 🙏🏼

    I hope I won’t have withdrawal symptoms. 🙏🏼

    Kumawoyo! 🙇🏻‍♀️

  6. Thanks @pm3! 10 mins more before the airing here! HaTae’s duet is already comforting to me while waiting for tonight’s episode.

Let’s enjoy the show, here we go!!!

  7. Oh my gosh! 😍

    What the fudge! 😱

Why did they have to change the background music? 😱

  8. Old American Lady (OAL)

    @packmule3, Thank you,Thank you,Thank you.

I want scenes of real intimacy and grandkids too. I sometimes watch Return of Superman or Little Forest with Lee Seeing Gi and Park Narae and love those little kids. Imagining our lead couple as parents is very amusing.I picture TaeMoo changing diapers and the two parents creating better baby food and grandpa’s interference. But that could be a whole new show.

  9. @pm3 and @agdr03, you’re wish was granted at the end of ep 11, they are starting it but … we have to wait for more in the final episode!

@OAL, I also love your imagination about the kids, they can fast forward into that as the ending!

I’ll be happy in my sleep!

  10. Thanks @PM3 for this thread and the gifs and the lyrics 🎶

I saw their Duet in Insta. soooo cute. 💗

ahhhh finales are bittersweet coz i want to see happy ending and yet i don’t want the show to end, too. waaaaah

here’s to a happy ending for HaRi and TaeMoo – honeymoon bed scene and future babies! 💛

  11. Oooo…I guess TaeMoo got to meet Samantha and Rachel…

Granddad did the “confiscating phone” thing on TaeMoo so he has no access to the outside world. Didn’t realise you can do that to adults too 😛

I so look forward to the ending because after a heavy going one.

Yes it is such a comforting drama to watch and rewatch. Couldn’t help comparing but TaeMoo is good husband material compared to errr…Yijin, even if TM wasn’t rich. Nonetheless he’s worth joining the best bf list.

  12. Old American Lady (OAL)

I just love the pairing of AYS and KsJ as TaeMoo and Hari. They are so well matched. Casting did a great job with the m. Their roles are tricky because they have to show great comic timing along with a believable romance. They also are not vain. KSJ has been through the wringer in this drama and has been bedraggled; AYS not. 9i knew and liked him from other shows but was not familiar with her. She is now part of my watch list-she has that Emma Stone/Meg Ryan aura and can Sing! Both of them are multitalents! I am already missing this drama.

  13. Seriously,

A whole company couldn’t put their lawyers to get YooRa to officially apologize for the mesh she created because she was jealous? What an awful person she is! MinWoo should make a public statement! The worst duo ever!

I do hope President Kang will come to his senses and protects both Tae Moo and HaRi. I think he was testing them to see how much they love each other.

What happened today has nothing to do with the Webtoon. At least we get to see them both grow together and deepen their bond!

  14. Oh… I woke up early to watch this before work. Didn’t see that coming in ep 11. I was expecting a proposal, but they surprised us with this.
    Like

@Grace, I am glad that I watched the ending of the other drama first. Emotionally this is easier.

As a viewer, it is refreshing to see TM confessed his deepest fear and Hari solved this for him. @Cleo, I guess you will know what I mean.

The way TM teases HR is very TM, especially he knew she came back because she worried about him.

I like HR stood up for herself in front of Grandfather. She reminded him how competent she was! That’s the side of HR I really love.

Better get to work now. Will read your thoughts as the day goes :).

  15. I honestly can say also that I haven’t laughed this much in a kdrama in a long time – I kept having asthma attacks in at least the first 6 episodes and then pretty much it was hot flashes after that 🙂

  16. Old American Lady (OAL)

I just watched this very satisfying episode. Hari and TaeMoo make a great couple. Given their start, Their care for each other rings trypue. I’m glad they gave us laughs around TaeMoo’s unexpected meeting with HaRi’s parents, the ser up being the two women hikers looking for the hot(my word) waiter.

Also BODers, enjoy the end of the episode……

  17. The end of ep 11… well, I guess they will try to give Grandfather his wish that he can’t refuse. LOL.

  18. Ep 11 deserves and is really worth several re-watch! So many good moments in this episode. I am hoping for HEA for HaTae couple, I am already missing them!

  19. swiss_postscripts

@eureka, im definitely rewatching it just before the final episode. 😀

everyone is standing up for hari at this episode (taemoo, mr gye) and most importantly, hari is standing up for herself (our heroine!) and calling out the unfairness of it all.

it troubled me slightly that sunghoon didn’t report the online comments incident to taemoo but kept it under wraps just because grandpa ordered it. oh well, still can’t wrap my head about sunghoon’s persona.

@agdr03, I chuckled at the abrupt music change. it almost sounded like “ok just making it obvious for everyone that we’re gonna see some action”. for me, it made the sequence more comical than anything else.

  20. I enjoyed episode 11 too, but did anyone feel a little disappointed at the long bedroom/hotel room scene? It was intimate and sensual but not raunchy, :). So Taemu meets Samantha and Rachel here…

I wish they shortened that scene and showed our second lead couple connecting and hugging/kissing after the roadside proposal.

I was secretly hoping they would save the bedroom scene until AFTER they got married (which is practically non-existent in dramas these days), but this is drama and ABP is adapted from a webtoon that had multiple bedroom scenes, so I guess this is already “tame” when compared to the webtoon. I haven’t read the webtoon, but that’s what I read others say about it.

I think the “extended” bedroom scene was partly fan service for the show’s worldwide fans. ABP is currently number one in my region—Taiwan and Japan.

Enjoyed seeing how Taemu demonstrated his commitment to staying with Hari by telling Grandpa he will resign from the company if he is asked to work in New York for two years.

Hari’s brother shone through and helped Taemu reconnect with Hari, which was sweet.

I loved how Hari stood up for herself again and told Grandpa why she is such a valuable employer and how she would not resign. You go girl!

Hari’s Team 1 mates were endearing. Did anyone notice how Mr. Gye slicked his hair back twice like Taemu and the sound effects?

I, too, hope we weddings and kids in episode 12. ^_^

  21. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

@Hatlady, I wish for the same thing, but despair of getting it in modern dramas. The scene was too long.

Yes, I was amused that Gye Bin who used to boast that he and TM looked alike or were so alike, suddenly became a little archaeopteryx to defend Ha Ri. So he came to live up to his boast, at least in attitude, if not in looks. LOL.

  22. *valuable employee
*hope we get weddings and kids

  23. @Viva sweetie,

Yes I know what you mean. This is how a Writernin can mastered a scene to show us how a bond can become deeper between a couple, through kindness, understanding and trust. *Hugs*

  24. Awwe… @Cleo thanks! 💐🤗😊

Even though in real life it can tougher than this, it gives me a boost – reminds me to try to talk about fear and be there for the person we care.

  25. @Viva 😘

If we cannot talk like this to our specific other, what is the point being in relationship with someone ?

In the dark days we are living, we want to have Hope. Hope moves us forward not regrets and fear.

  26. What music change are you and @agdr03 talking about, @swiss_postscripts? I missed this.

  27. Just starting to watch the final episode… I really don’t enjoy Ha-Ri’s mother in this series. She is neither charming, nor funny, nor quirky – just hot tempered and reactive + vulgar. Her redeeming grace is the kindness she and her husband show to others like SFL so I guess I must tolerate her but I am writing this so that I can let it go….

  28. swiss_postscripts

@packmule3, the music changes right at the last 1:50 mark. i think that was what @agdr03 was meant, because i thought it was awfully funny.

  29. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

Episode 12 – We got our happy ending, but I’m not sure if I had the edited version of it… it ended quite abruptly.

Did anyone get an ending where you heard the whole final OST?

It also felt suddenly rushed, like we ran out of time, after a period of nothing much happening.

At least HR seems to have managed to win over Granddad, although the time given over to that felt too short. I felt that there should have been a couple more scenes of HR and Granddad (like that time when she was Geum Hui) and of him actually coming around to accept her face-to-face.

The time with TM also seemed truncated. I’m glad we had Episode 11 to make up for it.

Still it was good that TM remained always good to HR and to his Granddad and all concluded as well as it did, just short of our hoped for dream ending.

  30. Old American Lady (OAL)

@Cleopatra, I agree with your thoughts on hope. It got. Me through hard times as it v did Barak Obama whose early book was titled aptly, The Audacity of Hope.

This comedy gives us lots of good laughs, that some characterize as the best medicine.

And it was fun to see the bedroom scene and to look at AHS glorious back. If you noticed, Hari remained fully clothed in that scene. It was nice that they didn’t fetishize our heroine.

  31. Really enjoyed this episode but agree with @GB re the ending which felt a bit tacked on. I wonder if anyone else was suddenly thinking… is this going to end on a cliff hanger so they can have a sequel? The minutes ticked away… and they certainly packed a lot in to the last few.

These series are so difficult to ‘land’ aren’t they especially with 12 episodes.

For me, overall a wonderful series and worth a re-watch or two. It was carried by the charm of its leads and some wonderfully timed comedy.

  32. Same here, @GB.

    It ended choppily.

    🔪🔪🔪🔪

No wedding. No babies. “We wuz robbed!”

On the bright side, we got
A taxi roof sign changing into heart
    Engagement ring
    Cherry blossom trope
    Holding hands
    Banter
Walking down a red brick lane in lieu of a chapel aisle
    Taemoo’s old hairstyle back
The OST with Kim Sejeong singing
And no duplicate of that 25/21 fiasco. Phew!

  33. Did anyone feel like it was a little underwhelming? Or maybe they were trying not to be like WWWSK with the grand wedding?

I felt something amiss, that they didn’t openly declare to the company and her friends or was it a tricky issue to tackle? I didn’t mind that there was no wedding but but…they have always been so secretive. I would have loved that at least her team knew about it.

The cherry blossom troupe was pretty, the sweetness they had that was a sign of a committed and connected couple. Reminds me of the Our Beloved Summer couple when Woong went over seas to study and they remained strong in their r/s. Technology helps with all the video calls, it is easier than writing letters and talking on the phone?

Overall it was a fun watch, worth watching again.

  34. Kalispera,

Yes, as many of you said the ending was rushed. They could add 20 more minutes in the format to give us a proper ending. Thanks goodness it was a light show and we got a happy ending.

Totally on my comfort kdrama tv-shows! I enjoyed very much!

  35. Old American Lady (OAL)

Hi @Kate, There are lots of this type of kothers in K Dranaw. I hate the hitting and hair pulling. That character seems to go along with the school o l bullies and loan sharks. I don’t get it but the character seems typical.

  36. Hi @OAl – yes, perhaps, you make me think – a little like traditional pantomime characters or even like Punch and Judy – this type of mother is amusing because she is a type reflecting aspects of motherhood, folk or real. She may be more amusing to the Korean viewer.

I have watched more amusing versions of the K-drama mother in other series that said.

  37. Hello ladies (and gentlemen! wohoo!)

While I did not watch the finale yet (will watch it later, before work 😆), I think it will feel rushed, maybe because a 12-episode series (with no extended ending) is not enough? 🙂

  38. I agree with the rushed ending comments. I wanted more interaction between the families and some more pubic courtship between HR and TM. I’m not sure why the trip to NY/1 year separation was really necessary, except to emphasize their commitment to each other and some changes at work, also with Yeong-seo. I wondered who was left in charge at Go Foods. I wanted to see Yeong-seo’s father appreciate her choice of boyfriend by the end as well.

@Cleopatra, I preferred your Deus ex machina plot for Grandfather. But on the whole I’m content. At least we had a happy ending and no melodrama.

    The cherry blossoms were gorgeous.

  39. After the comments about Ha-ri’s mother’s habit of hitting, I noticed that Ha-ri hits TM quite a bit, too. Not hard, but she smacks him quite a bit. I wonder if AHS had bruises by the last day of shooting.

Netflix really cut the credits short. Disappointing, considering it was one of their productions.

  40. I’m disappointed with the last episode. 🙁

It would have been nice to have the family meet and get Haraboji and Hari’s Appa to talk about the soap drama that they both like.

It could have been done much nicer. Did the budget run out or something?

    I feel deflated. 😭

  41. @agdr03, yes, because episode 11 was so good. At least Grandfather didn’t die, right?

I wonder, because we’ve all see some dramas with unsatisfactory endings, what are some examples of really satisfying endings? The sort we might not feel the need to correct with a fanfic? One that I can think of right now is Healer.

  42. I did wonder why they didn’t give us a wedding and children. If they are all about having a refreshing twist on cliché said why not carry on?

But the somewhat ordinary ending also reminds me – normally the process is more fun than the result. With such high expectation building up all along and that shock ending of ep 11. It is possible there aren’t any tricks to pull any more.

For me it is a pass. That are some non cliché parts I didn’t expect and touched my heart. They give me the assurance that Hari and Taemoo are solid and will have their happy ending:

    1. That conversation between Hari’s Dad and Taemoo. – Taemoo is not delusional and naïve about their future and made emotional empty promise.

Hari’s Dad: Are you sure Hari won’t get hurt and won’t have to suffer?

Taemoo: If I said that I was sure, I would be lying. I know she could get a lot of unwanted attention or be the subject of rumours just because she is seeing me. No matter how hard I try, I can’t stop all of that. But I promise I will always be by her side and protect her with everything that I have. I will be someone who stands by her and understands her.

    2. The can do attitude of Hari – When the rumour does show up. I like that Hari just called Taemoo to find out directly from him. She called him persistently. If she can’t get hold of him, she is prepared to fly to the States to sort it out with him in person. I can’t help but think: Here you go girl! That’s how to fight to be in a relationship with the man you love! Don’t let misunderstandings brew!

So I guess the ending decides to use some non cliché ways to show us TM and Hari are going to work out!

  43. To clarify my comment further – We see how TM is planning to handle rumour (an example of hardship they may face) and we see how Hari is handling rumour. Both are pretty good in their approach in my view. One is realistic, one is taking action to solve it. 🙂

  44. Old American Lady (OAL)

@packmule3,They could have used one more episode to properly tie up loose ends and to add some more comic bits. Parts of the joy of this show were the goofy comic moments. I would have liked to see Hari and Grandpa enjoying each other. The second leads could have used a reconciliation with her dad and something about her new business with Sung-Hoon now acting as HER secretary. Another could have been the meeting of the families at her family’s chicken restaurant while their mutual k drama played on the wide screen.

Of course a wedding and time jump grandkids(a comic going into labor scene, would be welcome.

I’m thankful that we got what we did, but the ending left me wanting more.

  45. Hi everyone!!
I was so looking forward to this episode. I read everyone’s wish list and it fell so short on them. Wished the ending would have been more satisfying. I did want to see babies or a belly or grandpa with kids. Alas it was not to be. Too bad. I hate the waiting trope and they actually did it.

On episode 11, I was a bit uncomfortable watching it lol. I so want to ship this couple that I actually didnt want to see them do the bed scene. Crazy me lol

@Fern I didnt like the hitting part from the mom. Hate that trope too. And then I did notice that HR does that to him as well =)

Thank you all for your posts, it was fun to read you all as well. I would totally rewatch until ep 11.
@pm3 do you have a post with your comfort kdrama list? I want to delve into them now =)

  46. Old American Lady (OAL)

@grace, I love this couple. I think their strength and affection for each other is one of the reasons I would watch this again. A definite best couple come award season.( Hope there are multiple wins because we’ve seen a lot of great ones this season).

  47. Finished Ep 12: Glad that there was a happy ending. On the other hand, ending felt very subdued. I have to admit I was a little disappointed with the ending. I was hoping for a double wedding. Instead, we check in on our couples after a 1 year time jump and…I guess it was just status quo? Second couple-are they still engaged? YS just calls SH her boyfriend, not her fiance. He brings her a flashdrive-the end. Rather weird ending for those 2 IMO. Main OTP- we got an official proposal, but Hari never actually said yes, and then they bicker about it.-the end. Not what I was hoping for. Frankly felt rather abrupt and I felt letdown. Agree with others here that ending was unsatisfying.
Overall, I really enjoyed this series, especially the comedy. It was a nice light watch and I’m sure I will binge it again when I need a lift. Kim Se Jeong was fantastic in her role. I also enjoyed reading everyone’s thoughts on this drama.

  48. Hello everyone! Just like most of you commented, I was also looking for more… like the wedding and fast forward probably to seeing kids. I am accepting the final episode and really love the tenderness and respect of HaTae couple.

I rarely do re-watch but this series is worth it, light and at the same time remind us the basic things of what a happy couple do – just chatting and listening to ordinary life stories sometimes, encouraging each other in difficult times and trying the best to be hopeful on what the future offers.

HaTae couple is refreshing to watch because their personality somehow resonate AHS and KSJ in some aspect. Like the hotel scene, I think the reason why it’s kind of long and slow before they could finally show their desire for each other is that they are kind of shy at first and then feel the need to give in before we could see AHS glorious back.

  49. Old American Lady (OAL)

@Fern, There’s a little screen prompt on Netflix that says Watch credits. I’m going to try it.

  50. @Fern-
Some rom com dramas that has satisfying endings for me:

    Marriage Not Dating
    1% of Something
    Secret Life of My Secretary
    What’s Wrong With Secretary Kim
    Bride of the Century
    Girl Who Sees Smells
    Another Oh Hae Young

  51. @Fern and @Table122000,

I am finding it hard to remember endings… I think I often find them slightly unsatisfactory and have come to accept that sense of let down in the final episode as par for the course.

Off the top of my head …

What’s wrong with Secretary Kim, … agreeing with @Table… this is a well told tale with satisfying developments and satisfying resolution too …for me this is a ‘comfort’ show

Secret Garden,… an elaborate plot with a climactic ending, and resolution of narratives (including one impasse but at least it’s addressed and not ignored) – one of my faves

    Her Private Life

Hometown Cha Cha Cha … of course blurred by all that was taking place around it.

  52. Oh …our leads are so lovely singing their duet – linked in Packmule3’s introductory section. That for me is a great way to leave the show!

  53. @Table122000 and @Kate, I shall have to visit or revisit some of those dramas. Thank you for the recommendations. Yes, the duet was really lovely.

  54. Thank you, @OAL. I will look for the credit button on Netflix. Good to know.

  55. I just watched Ep 12. Though I think it was a good ending, it could have been better (I mean, they could have added more scenes).

    Some thoughts:
    1. Taemoo’s approach in clearing misunderstanding/s should be the standard (especially for us men). Clear it up asap, don’t beat around the bush.
    2. Hari’s mom is very weird, to say the least. She’s hitting her adult daughter as if she’s still a child (or teenager, for that matter).
    3. The about-face of Youngseo’s father, which I have anticipated (I did not believe him on Ep 11), and him forgetting her birthday, are really awful. I wonder if he only sees her as his heir and nothing more.
    4. Hari’s response to Minwoo’s question if they can still be friends is interesting while also understandable. She wanted to forget the pain (and, I guess, the happy memories) of those seven years before she can be friends with him again.
    5. I agree with @Viva, the conversation between Taemoo and Hari’s father shows that Taemoo is not delusional and gives empty promises. He acknowledges that there will be challenges ahead of them, and the best that he can do is to be beside her and understand her.

For the ending part (the proposal), I hoped that Grandpa’s approval of Hari was shown.

Inset: My favorite OST in this drama is “Love, Maybe” which was played in Episode 3 (concert scene), which was different to the OST released in iTunes in that it is a piano version.

  56. @Nog, those are great points.

I would add to No. 4, that it was good that Minwoo confirmed that he had always wanted to wander in Europe, eating and cooking. By removing himself from the scene he could pay for the distress and complications he gave Ha-ri without inviting blame on Ha-ri or Go Foods. I think the GF should have apologies on SM rather than through his mouth, however.

  57. @Nog – slightly off topic….you made me think of another favourite song with ‘may be’ in the lyrics… from Her Private Life.

It’s number 4 on this OST compilation. ‘May be’ sung by Lee Hae Ri.

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tdEKiAlAYXA&t=602s

It would sit well in our BP drama too.

  58. Old American Lady (OAL)

@Fern,You can find it on the upper left quadrant of the screen.

  59. Dear @OAL,

Humanity needs Hope. That’s why having hopeful messages is uplifting for someone. I do hope we get to see more hopeful stories that will bring us joy and laughter!

    @Ladies,
I would add “Oh My Venus”. I really liked that story!

  60. Thank you, @Cleopatra. I have been wondering about “Oh My Venus”.

  61. My dear @Fern,

Do watch it! I watched a year ago and it was my comfort drama for a while…❤️

I really liked it and the messages it wanted to say…

  62. Old American Lady (OAL)

@Cleopa5r a, I second Oh My Venus! Shin Min-ah and So Ji Sub -woo Hoo!

  63. @Cleo – I’ll third it in that case! I watched it a good 4 or 5 years back I think – and have still got very good memories of it. A bit of a ‘one off’ – lots of unique elements – especially the central relationship.

  64. And… Suspicious Partner … i watched it without knowing how big a star Lee Chang Wook was, again probably 4 years ago. Romantic comedy, crime/thriller. Great ML and FL chemistry and comedy. I’ve seen it several times.

  65. @Kate, I haven’t watched “Suspicious Partner”. I’ll put it on my list. I would like to see Lee Chang Wook in a drama that makes me as happy as his character did in “Healer.”

  66. Oooh … I love him in this drama… bear in mind I had no expectations of him in it because I didn’t know who he was. It’s a good ensemble drama too.

  67. I’ve read in Instagram that the PD-nim of Suspicious Partner is the same as the director in A Business Proposal. Both shows have short bed scenes and same vibe in having the happy ending – with giving the engagement ring in a quiet and under a romantic tree environment

  68. @Eureka – oh! That is interesting. Thanks for sharing.

  69. Hello @Kate, you’re welcome. Please double check it! I did scan some episodes in Suspicious Partner last month because I’ve heard that the male lead is such a big star and I’ve watched the female lead in an old drama with Seo In Guk. It’s too long for me so I just scanned some episodes and of course the ending. It’s a nice kdrama too but nothing compare to HaTae couple!

  70. Yes, it’s different with a different balance of cute romance and crime/thriller elements and of course comedy. There is a great opening segment…the ‘meet cute’…ha ha

I do think it’s just as good – in a different way. Certainly worth a watch for anyone who likes BP.

And – ‘Grandpa’ is one of the ensemble cast! That actor certainly gets around.

  71. @Fern, I agree with Healer. I’m the same with the others here – Princess Hours, LoveO2O, Secret Garden, Oh My Venus. Those comes to mind. ☺️

  72. Anneyong!

The ABP Squad is playing Jenga! Watch it and laugh!

  73. Thanks, @Cleopatra. We got to revisit Samantha and Rachel in another guise.

  74. @agdr03, I haven’t watched Princess Hours. Another for my list. Have you been watching Legally Romance?

  75. @Fern,

😂😂 @agdr03 is a holdout against Legally Romance.

  76. Nooooooo! It’s exactly the sort of thing she likes – except perhaps the length. And the ML looks?

  77. Right, @Fern?

    This drama fits her.

The ML doesn’t look like at all like kpop idol. But after listening to his voice — on my headphones, no less where he sounds like he’s whispering in my ears — I’ve gotten used to his gravelly vocals.

So I ignore his voice and listen to the bedroom voice. It’s raspy and throaty. Like someone who drank a glass of whiskey. 🥃

Maybe I should do an Ep 2 just to entice @agdr03?

  78. Re Legally Romance – the second ML is more visually attractive but ML does grow on you, as @Packmule03 describes.

I wish the title were better … Legally Yours! Or Love legally!

But it also does get steadily more romantic as the back story to the current story unfolds… what was going on with him versus what the FL thought was happening with him when they were at college.

The ML hairstyle is a stumbling block but it recedes into the background as an issue.

His character overcomes the disadvantages in time…

  79. I did not realize the last episodes are this week! I am reserving Thursday night for the final episode. Thanks for the warning of an abrupt ending so I’ll manage my expectations. You know how endings are these days in kdrama. I had to watch Start Up ep16 epilogue just to see a happy NJH. LOL! It’s a good thing we have APB after 25/21. Cheers!!!

  80. Just chiming in…agree that the ending was underwhelming. I was a little disappointed since I expected more closure…at least show Hari and Grandpa enjoying each other and Grandpa accepting her.

They spent such a long time at the end of episode 11 in the hotel room scene and in episode 12 with Grandpa, surely they could have shaved off a few seconds here and there, even with picture montages in the credits, to show us wedding pics of both couples?

Strange how our second lead couple got engaged in about a month but were still not married after a year. Wish there was some reconciliation with our SFL and her dad. Also, was the SML relaxing and taking a sabbatical for a year since Taemu was in the States? Having me-time by putting together dollhouses and cooking for your girlfriend is cool, but I wonder if he could have developed other work-related skills during that year? May he did and it just wasn’t shown.

I watched Oh My Venus this year and liked it too, especially its messages. I also haven’t watched Suspicious Partner or anything with male lead in it.

  81. Old American Lady (OAL)

@Kate,JCW is going to be in a new drama about a magician. He is a very attractive performer who can do actiom(Healer, the K2) as well as other genres(Suspicious Parther, Lovestruch In The City).I like him but di r not watch his last drama about the convenience store because of the age difference between the two leads(I have a prejudice about older male leads with much younger females. Hollywood does it a lot and in the past some of the men we f e downright el#erly like Fred Astaire -was just cringe worthy. I don’t mind Noonan dramas because the male leads are closer in age and the female leads are at least getting roles that aren’t mothers, grandmother’s and bitter women. I won’t watch teacher student b romances-just child abuse.

  82. Old American Lady (OAL)

@Eureka, I read that the ML and FL in Suspicious Partner were actually in a real romantic relationship during and sometime after that drama. It seems the chemistry was not only on screen. I think just like regular folks meet at work(my husband and me) it is not unheard of for actors to do the same, especially when their jobs require them to simulate intimacy. They also break up a lot when they go onto different projects, partly because they are away from home and normalcy and also based on their immersion into their new roles. Acting is not as glamorous as we think. The jo requires work away from home, strange hours, boredom( on films when camera angles are set up), repetition of takes, false intimacy requiring nudity, etc. Given their working conditions, I think that it’s a wonder that some actors remain sane.

  83. @OAL – agreed! I like all his action series and enjoyed him in historic dramas Empress Ki – that was a surprising performance – and Warrior Baek Dong Su…

But like you, I tried just one episode of the series you reference and it didn’t work for me. I didn’t like Melting me Softly either… but that was more to do with the script.

I hope this new series represents a positive departure. Thanks for the tip.

  84. Old American Lady (OAL)

@Kate, the grandpa actor won a career award at one of the new a I rk award shows. I daw an episode I f The Return of Superman where he meets Sam Hammington’s kids. He really liked the kids but told them not to touch his hair because he wears a wig(lol). I’ve seen pictures h res of him in his youth. He was a definite Hattie. I like that he doesn’t take himself seriously.

  85. @OAL – I read that too – they had very natural chemistry on set. I saw things about how relaxed he was around her. She visited him when he was doing his military service and I think he consulted her re Melting me Softly (not a great decision!). I wonder if it morphed into friendship?

  86. @OAL – his hair is rather thick! So it’s a wig… well!

  87. *Ji-Chang-Wook* – my apologies… I get names mixed up!

  88. Old American Lady (OAL)

@HarLady, I think SML, Sung-hoon, was h ouse husbznding because his GF was growing her business. It was estab, ished that he was maj I r investor(her father didn’t approve of her relationship and she resignedl. SmL also made her submit a business plan n. He was a true support for her.

  89. Old American Lady (OAL)

Me too. For me there’s a learning curve-with character names tool

  90. @packmule3, I’ve just finished “Legally Romance” and yes, he’s a fine boyfriend. The ending was great and completely @adgr03’s style.

  91. Hahaha, @Fern!

We know our friend, @agdr03, don’t we?

Wait! Let’s not write here. Let’s write in the open thread instead.

I’ve Ep 2 halfway done. Got distracted.

  92. Thank you for thinking of me. You and @Fern. 🙇🏻‍♀️😘

I wanted to put this here. Look at them laughing but really Hari is hitting Taemoo hard. 😂

  93. AHS should’ve worn a Kevlar vest to protect himself from the impact of KSJ’s fist.

I saw the BTS of the rainy day scene. KSJ really sees AHS as Taemoo, doesn’t she? She keeps on saying how remarkably like Taemoo AHS is.

  94. I agree about the vest 😂 Like how hard does she need to hit him? 😂

Yes, she did say that a few times. It’s nice to see them laughing during the filming of the drama. ☺️

Oh and I’ll definitely watch Legally Romance. 😉 I might try the ff button for the first time. 🤔

  95. Old American Lady (OAL)

Love their working relationship. We can’t ship them because the netizens have already sussed out an actress girlfriend who he’s allegedly been seeing for five years. I don’t think they’re happy about it. I also find it funny that they’ve “waited” this long to do this when he has been the romantic lead in other dramas. As pm3 points out, our concern with the actor should be with his work. His personal life is none of our business. However the timing of this report speaks volumes. Our two leads are nothing, if not, professional. We recognize that they are probably contractually required to promote this drama and they’ve done a great job in this regardand in keeping up the illusion of the drama-privuding a little afterglow to us viewers. It is nice that they don’t seem to hate each other’s guts. If it is true that AHS hiss about a girlfriend I’m happy for him. These K actors don’t seem to lead normal lives so it would be nice for him to have some degree of normalcy.

With the Hyun Bin and Son Ye Jin marriage is it strikes me that S.Korean fans are more likely to accept stars’ relationships when they approach age 40 for males and late 30’s for women. They even accept May December relationships for their male stars. I guess this happens because they want healthy babies. Our female actors don’t get that break and near their fertility expiration date. To me won we n actresses sacrifice a lot for toheir art. And now we see what I think is disapproval for Gong Hyo Gin, who caught the bouquet at the Bin Jin wedding because her boyfriend is ten years younger(maybe a good thing, thinking about male and female life expectancies). We in the states have the opposite extreme, watching many of our stars in revolving door relationships and needing score cards to keep
Things understandable. These customs and reactions would make for a fun anthropological study.
bODers, I know It am off topic but I had no idea where to put this.

  96. No worries @OAL, you can put anything here, anytime. ☺️

I’m happy if AHS have a gf and it will be the same for KSJ. I just want them to be happy, period. ☺️

I’ll always have Hari and Taemoo. 🥰

  97. Mariage proposal on the bridge, so cute! BUT…
    – The car is parked anywhere (not in the driving rules).
    – The woman made maaaany mistakes, looking at the ring before the time, etc.
Hopefully, even with a spoiler, she was happy with the final proposal. 🙂
    I SHIP THAT COUPLE!
It makes no sens I suppose, because we are supposed to ship people before they are in love.

  98. Old American Lady (OAL)

@WEnchanteur, South Korean driving rules mystify me. I can’t count all the U turns, crazy lane changes, speeding, par,ING anywhere. I also think that bad driving gbequals the truck of death. I hope it’s just drama stuff. If it5 not, that explains all the windshield cams.

  99. I finished the drama! The last episode was slower, time to wrap up and land smoothly. The audience has time to have a conclusion and some happy moments.

The 12 episode format was right for this story, very focused on comedy. It avoids rehashing the plot with a separation or events such as “one of the characters goes abroad for two years”. This plot is actually discussed but rejected by the ML. I don’t have a preference for either, but it’s nice to see the variation of this drama, which is less often used.

As for the famous drunk-sex scene, it goes by quickly, almost invisibly, and everything makes sense to lead up to it or fulfill it. It was not worth wasting the drama, especially for people who would have dropped the drama just for that. It was like the proverbial says “drowning in a glass of water”. I liked the scene, hot and sweet. But to make it immoral, we’d have to write one that is indeed outrageous, but would fit better in a makjang.
