Jinx’s Lover: Eps 5 & 6 Open Thread

The thread is open.

Are you still watching this, folks?

I tried but I find the face of the female actress excruciating to watch. She looks like an ahjumma trying too hard to do a baby face. When will it all end? When will she act her age?

I keep imaging IU in this role. She does aegyo better.

  1. I am. But not commenting much. 😂. It’s not a drama that seems to require much thinking. I agree about the acting from the actress. I am forging through for IW’s sake. So I wouldn’t bother putting up posts weekly? Maybe just one generic combined open post for all the eps? Or ep1-8 and then ep 9-16 or something?

I started watching 2D1N again. I still miss Ravi. Hasn’t been too bad the last few eps. The new PD seems to have found his mojo and the eps are flowing better for me.

  2. IU would have been cute in that role but she is every director’s dream lead now. With her face, her popularity, improved acting and top idol status she is now very much in demand. Add to that her new film fresh from it’s debut in Cannes and is now a hit in Korea.

She even rejected the drama that would reunite her with Kim Soo Hyun and backed out from Money Game due to her schedule.

But I noticed that starting Scarlett Heart she rarely does cutesy roles in dramas anymore. Her last was Bel Ami aka Pretty Man with JKS.

  3. I’m watching. I agree with @nrllee that weekly posts may not be necessary if few are wanting to comment on the show as it unfolds. It’s nice sometimes to just watch.

I’m currently in the midst of Episode 6 and had to stop and say Aack! Seul Bi is frying eggs with her hair loose and hanging within inches of an open flame. Even for the real-life actress, that’s dangerous!

Speaking of Seul Bi’s hair: if she ran away from captivity, wants to disappear, and knows people are searching for her, it would make sense for her to change her appearance. Cut and dye the hair. Ditch the girly-girl attire. Wear makeup. So I consider it a plot hole that she doesn’t take such logical steps to preserve her anonymity.

And once it became clear Pi Dae Sik was targeting her for his personal gain, she should have left the neighborhood and gone into hiding elsewhere. When he tried early in the show to sell her into prostitution, which is a heinous crime and proves his moral depravity, little changes to insure her future safety. He continues as a lurking danger, and she continues as an open target. That mindlessness turns this show into fluff.
