Hurray! As promised, @Phoenix has updated a map of our two islands here at BitchesoverDramas with a couple of new geographical features. Since she’s the co-president of two (or three?) Best Boyfriend Appreciation societies in the blog, she can best describe the two islands.

I am sharing the revamped map of our Shallow and Cynical Islands, with
new places named in deference to our Best Drama Boyfriends. As there
are many new BoD-ers on our blog now, I also think it will be helpful
for them to share an overview of the concepts of the islands – what
they mean and why we go there.What is Shallow Island?
Shallow Island is where BoD-ers satisfy their shallow side – we go
there in spirit when we unabashedly watch a kdrama or cdrama for the
male lead’s charisma, abs, eyes, smile or kisses, and may ignore the
lack of plotline or direction in the rest of the drama. We are allowed
to fangirl there to our heart’s content; however just raving over
Oppa’s d*mples will not get any drama male lead entry into the Best
Boyfriend Club or be celebrated on our Shallow Island. To be
considered as Best Boyfriend material, drama male leads have to live
up to our bitch standards. They cannot be all brawn and no brains –
they need to stand up for the female lead, respect her and others,
prove themselves as worthy of love and trust, and be courageous, calm
and confident in the face of peril.What is Cynical Island?
Being discerning bitches, we still may not be able to leave our
analytical, thinking side behind. If, in the middle of fangirling over
a male lead, we want to rant about an illogical aspect of the drama,
we can cross the Bridge of Tropes and hop on to Cynical Island to rant
about it. We have held virtual parties on the bridge in old times when
we have brought over our favorite drama boyfriends as dates and hopped
between islands during drama rewatch parties.
I’ll only add a couple of things.
Guests on the Shallow Island are welcome to stay for as long as they want as long as they don’t annoy the “elders” of the islands….@Phoenix, @agdr03, @GB, and so on.
The Cynical Island, however, has only one permanent resident and that’s me.
Thank you @pheonix and @Pm3 for the early morning giggle, as Qing Cang quicksand is exactly what I’m sunk in at the moment. So apt.
I prefer camping on the bridge. That way I can enjoy the scenery of Shallow Island while dipping my toes into the Sea of Sarcasm.
Thanks @Phoenix!! I’m still on a luxury boat of sorts, bobbing between islands and sometimes dip into Kiss and Swoon Bay. From time to time I anchor at the Sea of Sarcasm or do a round islands tour to view the mesmerising Archaeopteryx Lighthouse lights. 🤩 😎 🤪

The rewatch is making me sink even further into it 😀 😀 😀 Catching all the nuances in 2nd watch makes him even swoonier a bf than I thought first time round (and he was plenty swoony then). It may take more time than normal for me to find my way back to the bridge lol

LBFD has a terrible hold on my attention. No other shows can dislodge my preference to just rewatch this series and certain episodes several times!

@GB I am so glad I’m not the only one feeling this way. I completely relate, Ive tried to get into some other shows but my happy place continues to be in LBFD.
Sometimes a show is just *so* good, I need to savor it longer and just bask in its feels for a while before I can do justice to another show.
And I’m going to indulge this obsession a bit and stick with LBFD only for the next few days/weeks, enhanced greatly by your company and the wisdom and insights of commentators on BOD. ❤️

LOL @MrsRJH1 That was hilarious. I wouldn’t be able to drive properly at all with that GPS. I’d deliberately make all the wrong turnings just to hear him scold me LOLOL. Or I’d park and just listen to him going on about locating me at the ends of the earth. 😅 🤣

Ooh that’s for sharing the tip. I will take a look at that review now. Would love to check out more of Dylan’s work. I bookmarked some of his other dramas on Netflix (meteor garden and the other about the workplace romance with older coworker).
I watched the video on his accent a couple of times but my recognition of Mandarin is still too beginner level to make out a big difference in the accent. Eg when I first watched CLOY I couldn’t tell the difference between N Korea and S Korea accent, but by now, I totally can tell them apart.
So maybe once I watch more cdramas now, I’ll start to get it. Love his voice actor but Dylan’s voice is great too!
