@pkml3, isn’t ‘Meet Yourself’ just so relaxing? It’s lovely to look at, the music’s not bad, the story just unfolds gently and we know the ending will be good. I don’t mind having another one of these kinds of shows to relax with. ☺️ 😌 😉

  2. Kalimera @Packmule3!

Thank you for opening the thread! Let us enjoy the show!

  3. Kalispera!

I just finished watcing Episode 5.

Thanks goodness the first half of the show was more easy going and funny. I was pretty certain who Scholar Park was, from the description he gave to Eunuch Go. I cried from laughter, when I saw him approaching!

We also found out who is Kim Myung-Jin’s father. The Chief State Minister Kim An-Jik is the Minister who said bravo to the Sergeant after the Right Minister mocked him in Episode 4.

I have to tell you that the Right Minister disgusted me. The way he reacted against the Court Ladies when he had NO right to do anything to them, because they are ALL the King’s ladies. I am fuming with that psycho!

Seja and the Sergeant had a talk where the second revealed to Seja the fact that he didn’t tell him about the turtle from the Ming Dynasty.
As it seems, from the preview, their relationship will continue to be strained…

I am waiting for tomorrow. So far we get information about everyone…

  4. I’m wondering if the Grand Prince is actually the King’s son? They mentioned him being born two month’s early …..

  5. Hey @GoodTwin,

As it seems, since they didn’t give us any information about it, the Crown Prince who died and the current Crown Prince were brothers from the same mother.

I think that the Princess and the Grand Prince are from the current Queen.

If that is the case, I don’t think the current Queen would cheat on the King.
She seems to be shaken with all those things her Uncle says. If she is a really good actress we will find out!

  6. @Good Twin. After you raised it I wondered too especially when the queen ask the uncle if the maids were gossiping about … but he cuts her off and says don’t worry they weren’t. Since we know if was about his studies the uncle already said it, I too wonder if there is something else. Premature by 2 months and looking so healthy does seem a bit suspect.

I also think the CP is also wary of the Sargent due to the ghost betrayal warning but also because he worries that as a result the guy will die as MJ says. He doesn’t want to be responsible for the death of his BF. I bet we will learn that when he became CP and gave up friends it was mostly to protect them from being targeted. It’s nice the MJ realized on her own so rapidly how much guilt the CP carried around feeling like he was responsible for people’s deaths and tried to reassure him that he’s not. She also told him he was responsible for her injuries.

It does seem the right minister is the spider master trying to control the line of succession to get his family to the throne. The queen certainly plays innocent well. Still side eyeing her a bit but she could just be another victim of her evil uncle.

Overall I am enjoying this a lot and now that the scooby doo group is getting together I can see the youth bloom. The CP grew up so sheltered, restricted and stifled by all the rules in the palace that he needs to let loose and learn to trust. The coroner clearly is talented but looked down upon by his family and society so hopefully by the end of the show they will appreciate his genius and value. The girls have found ways to be more free than their society status typically allows but maybe they will have more amazing adventures. MJ probably needs to give up her childish fantasies about love and find true love (likely will be a difficult but rewarding path). Sargent hopefully will learn about humbleness, loyalty and forgiveness.

  7. *Edit to say NOT responsible for her injuries. Stupid fat fingers 🤣

  8. Anneyong!

Episode 6 was heavy with action and lots of information that don’t make sense yet, since we are missing valuable pieces of the puzzle.

I am not going to focus on Seja’s anger / jealousy yet.
    It will go away eventually.

I am going to focus on a Prophecy we don’t know anything about and the Head Shaman was influenced by it. We saw an Evil Spirit and that she was possessed while she was planning to commit the murders.

Also the white hair element was not only found to the Head Shaman, but also to Shim Young the so called lover.

How come he turned white haired in a span of one month?
What are they are inhaling that makes them do so?
Is some kind of hallucination plant / drug ?

What is happening in Gaesong county that some people like the service staff in Maiden’s Household are confessing awful things, when they are not that sure, as we have seen from the Maiden’s memories.

In the report Seja got those people were spewing awful things for the Maiden. Were they are so certain about it? Did they participate into the murder case as well? Were they paid from the culprit to lie for what actually happened?

Who are the men in black who act like ninjas? Are they from Gaesong county as well? Why did they go to the Shaman Bureau and what evidence they wanted to destroy that the Head Shaman supposedly had?

How many men like the Tavern Keeper man are double agents? Peasants turned to ninjas when they were summoned?

I do hope you ALL noticed the arrow with the red letter.

So, we have a BADDIE that we don’t know anything about and he / she is not from the Right Minister’s side.

I am curious how they will unfold the facta.

What is certain is that there is also a Conspiracy against the Maiden and many people lied about her and what she supposedly did, in her family’s murder.

Even Shim Young, the boy the Maiden saved when he was a boy lied that they were lovers, when he knew that he will destroy her reputation.

When someone is your “family” you don’t betray him like that. Just saying…

  9. Does anyone know when Go Ram saw that white hair old guy before whose gourd she broke? Did we the audience see him too?

@cocole883 are the bringing in the red fish?

I think the director is trolling us the viewer with the episode cliffhangers and next previews. So many people were up in arms about the too quick romance with the “lovely eyes” but then the next episode it was more of a warmth of a connection than falling in love. I wonder if that end of 6 is similar… seems like the CP suddenly doesn’t trust MJ but maybe he just wants her to see the “confession letter” first to help them solve the mystery. Knowing the enemies seem onto the eunuch it may be better to denounce her(since she got a lot of credit for saving the baby) to be able to cast her out of palace and allow her more freedom to sleuth without prying eyes. He may also be “spending a lot of night in his library”..

In episode 6 we finally see her break down a bit from her compartmentalizing of her family’s death when she asks the CP to tell her about her father. I think it’s a way to tackle grief. I also think her palpable relief that he said he trusted her was believable. He said he probably did from the beginning because he couldn’t imagine his master raising a daughter who would be a murderer. I think that was true which is why I think the preview is a troll.

Sad to see ratings fairly low and unhappy viewer comments on MDL. I just wonder if after it’s all over if it people will appreciate it more. It seems like a lot of slow unraveling of mysteries and a darker edge to it that people are too impatient to enjoy. I am hoping writernim can pull this off.

  10. Kalimera Everyone!

@koalatown, we haven’t seen him before, but Go Ram might have seen him in Gaesong county? Afterall there is a Temple or Shrine in that place. It was mentioned where the Head Shaman went one month prior the killings.

As for MDL, I don’t pay attention to it, as most BoD’ers do so.

So far the jakkanim has started her script in a very good way. I enjoyed Episodes 5-6 a lot because many things were happening all at once. I don’t have anything against the actress who plays the FL and I am going to assess her based on her acting and not based on something else.

I am enjoying this and I will continue to watch it.

After all, last year I have watched “Bloody Heart” that was all over the place in directing and scriptwise, because I really like Kang Hanna and Lee Joon. Even Jang Hyuk and all the senior actors and actresses couldn’t save it, but in MDL some were in awe.

  11. @Cleopatra, good point about all the court ladies belonging to the king, so the Right State Minister’s physical abuse of them was completely out of line.

I don’t like how the Right State Minister bullies the current Queen, and openly speaks to her treasonously. The Queen is right to be frightened for the safety of her son, the Grand Prince, and herself if there’s fallout from the Right State Minister’s plotting. What would you do in such a situation, @Cleopatra? If I were her, I would share everything with the king. I’m glad she is shocked by her uncle’s words. Unfortunately, she seems to be of a weak personality, unable to push back when her uncle says leave everything to him.

This show did something I haven’t seen before with a Kdrama fight scene and I liked it because of the realism: it showed a struggle happening in a small space after the birth of the baby. Because of how it was staged and shot, I got a sense of the chaos of hand-to-hand combat. I wonder the purpose of the wreath-like thing Eunuch Go / Jae Yi grabbed to protect against knife stabs; during a later scene in the marketplace, I saw similar items being sold.

Sergeant Han has some suspicions about Eunuch Go after seeing how well “he” fights and rides a horse. And we viewers are being led to believe Sergeant Han is jealous of the special attention Eunuch Go is receiving from CP. Other eunuchs are also unsettled by the special attention CP gives Eunuch Go. Jae Yi is certainly doing the opposite of laying low as a fugitive: everyone seems to have Eunuch Go in their sights, even the Queen.

  12. @Welmaris,

Yes it is outside the line and IF they King was strong enough should have punished him.

Do you remember what happened in the “Red Sleeve” with Deok Im-ah and the Concubine that was abusing her? Yi San was furious with her for punishing and making Deok Im-ah to become sick.

If the Queen is weak as a personality and she is being manipulated by her Uncle, things wouldn’t be okay for her.

I don’t know if she could tell such a treasonous thing to her husband the King. Her Clan is the most powerful one at the moment. The thing is that ears are all around the Palace.

IF there was a Queen Dowager and she had heard about what they were discussing to do to her grandson the current Crown Prince, she would have acted in order to expose the Right Minister. Since there is not one, I cannot say what the Queen will do.

The thing is that the King might now that the Right Minister is capable of…

    We shall see!
