    @pkml3, thanks!

    Hi @Good Twin, couldn’t pass up a show with Sato Takeru!!! I finally found it after using the wrong ‘search criteria/terms’.

    It’s called ‘Hyakuman Kai Ieba Yokatta (2023)’ or ‘I SHOULD SAY A MILLION TIMES (2023)’

    Looks wistful and mysterious!

    Hmmm… I cannot find good subs for this drama. I may have to wait a while, just guess what they’re saying!!!

  4. You’re welcome. Don’t forget to explain the title for me. Thanks.

    I’m curious to know why he didn’t tell her “I love you” a million times before…🤔🤔 let me guess… before he or she passed away. With a title like that, regrets and death must be central themes.

    @pkml3, well, yes to what you say at the end. The ‘spoiler’ came in the synopsis already as well. 😳 🤯 🤔 🙄

  6. I finished this Jdorama last night. It’s quirky. In my opinion the script and production weren’t on par with other Japanese TV dramas I’ve watched, but given the material and direction they were given, I thought the actors gave solid performances. Takeru Satoh was allowed to express more range of emotion than his roles in An Incurable Case of Love and First Love.

    Death is central to the plot, introduced from the first moments, so to keep the show from being too dark, humor is injected, sometimes at odd moments. The soundtrack also seemed to me jarringly cheerful in some scenes. My biggest complaint is that characters who behave very badly are treated with too much sympathy, in my opinion. I can’t say more without giving clues to plot twists with which the scriptwriter tries so very hard to surprise the viewers. The way the mystery is unraveled feels choppy and manufactured to me, not organic.

    If you like Takeru Satoh, this isn’t a bad drama to watch. It does deal with death and grief, yet isn’t a tearjerker because the central characters aren’t sentimental, but approach their situation mindfully. One of the side characters manages grief differently than the FL, so their intertwining story arcs make an interesting comparison.

    There’s a line in the story that says death isn’t reasonable, but it’s fair. Death is the great equalizer, because we all experience it. I’m not sure I fully agree with this sentiment, but I’m also at the mercy of English subtitles: maybe some nuances are missed in translation. But a life cut short, potential abruptly erased, seems unfair to me, as well as unreasonable.

  7. @Welmaris I binged this a few weeks ago but my life got temporarily upended by a family emergency. I thought I would go back and watch it more closely – but I don’t think it is interesting enough for a second watch. Like many Japanese dramas it is a quirky with major shifts in tone. In many ways it is just a retelling of the classic film Ghost including the murder. I enjoyed that everyone seemed to just go along with the big reveal that there are ghosts among us. I thought the scene with the second ghost playing with the children was darling. I agree with you the sound track was jarring and misplaced. In fact, I think the whole mood of the drama could have been shifted just with a more appropriate sound track.

    Thanks for your review of this jdodrama @Good Twin. It has saved me from waiting for or searching for the fully subbed series. I’ll be happy to pass it by for some other shows.
