Thanks @pkml3! Buried under work while moving office … I need to summon more energy to watch and write. 😩 😮‍💨 😬 😇

  2. No pressure but lurking people are waiting for your post on “Bora!Deborah.” 😂😂

  3. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

    @pkml3 LOL No!!!! Lurkers??? 🤣 🤣

I’ve only just got to watch Ep 13 and 14 of Bora! Deborah, and I’m so out of it, I didn’t even know that the series ends with Ep 14!!! So apologies @pkml3, I believe you need to amend the thread title to reflect “Ep 11-14”!

    😬 🤪 😊 😂 🤭 🫡 😁

    Now, where’s my brain? 🫢 🤔 🤫

  4. Yes, @GB. Lurkers. 🤣🤣

There’s only two of you commenting. But I saw… let me remember now 🤔… 20? 30? checking on the thread very early this morning (my time).

    Ok. Will edit thread later.

  5. Coming here to say hello!! I couldn’t before, too much things to do. 😉

  6. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

Hi @WE, I’m here… in and out. Showered and all nice and clean. Have coconut water and jelly with me. Trying to write something for the Bora show… took me so long just rewatching. Last episode was 1 hour 20 minutes!!! *sheesh*.

  7. @GB, I wonder if I should rewatch ep 1 to 4. I started 5. Or just I watch all before rewatch? The writing is smart on this drama.

  8. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

@WE, you are speaking of Bora! Deborah? It’s not bad especially in the beginning. Entertaining, funny, smart. However I was not overly impressesd by the ending.

    Let’s start!!!

  9. Ok I goooo. My favorite game. aah!!
Yeah, I speak about Bora. I would need to rewatch and comment to say how and why, but.. Ok

    LG now.

  10. We have a resume of game rules, great.

  11. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

@WE, yes, watch and comment on Bora. I’d be interested in your thoughts coming from a script-writer and male perspective.

  12. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

I cannot actually remember which grouping of cards is of greater value. I let them tell me.

  13. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

    I looked up:
“The ability to identify objects moving horizontally or vertically is called dynamic visual acuity (DVA)1, 2, while the ability to identify approaching objects is called kinetic visual acuity (KVA)” – Kikuchi claims to have kinetic vision but sounds more like DVA to me.

  14. The explanation of the previous episode cliffhanger. With a crazy number of special effects, flash, flashback and anything make “woosh” sounds. 🙂

  15. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

@WE LOL when they ask if Kikuchi is god to get the Joker exactly where he said he would, they play the organ music like church music.

  16. Wait, you need 3 words here “dynamic visual acuity”. Make it Kinetic instead. ^^
    It’s more speed.

  17. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

But kinetic means a different kind of visual ability. Just call it DVA then. Explain it once and call it DVA.

  18. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

This show takes the trouble to do a lot of explanation. Girl explains to team mate using virtual cards floating in the air. Poker works best for those with a great memory. They can retain which cards have been used and what’s left.

  19. No no, DVA is ugly and you could miss the explanation. I want KINETIC!! Like telekinesic or I don’t know, anything cool with “IC” in the end. I like a lot the “KI” at the beginning to.
K…..K , so cool word bounded with K sound.

  20. Oh dear I am late. Where are you guys at now?

  21. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

So early in the game AS is already priming the game-play to expect that he does not trust the shuffling and the opponent. So at the end when he insists on many times the riffle shuffle, no one is suspicious.

  22. About the game… Hidden plot from AK. But how it happen: make us believe step by step things only get worst. No with the change of shuffling. Gosh, all that with a perfect logic about the game, even the score.

  23. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

Hi @FF, I’m at 46 minutes now. Pausing now and then so a bit slower.

  24. We can pause if you want, so Feifei can see a bit what happens?

  25. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

PAUSE PLAY we can let FF catch up a bit as well.

Nao’s offer to the Kingdom of Moon team.

“Why don’t we end the battle? Our goal isn’t to beat you. It’s to save you.” (Turns going out for oneself on its head.)
    “What is she talking about?”
“Our true enemy is the agency. In the vanguard battle, we forced a tie. We did this to avoid losing money to the agency. 900 million yen worth of chips have been distributed in this round, but only 600 million will be collected. In other words if we avoid pointless fighting and don’t lose any chips to the agency, the players get to keep that 300 million.

We will save all of you with that money.”

Moon Team can’t decide if she’s an idiot or not. Nishida who had experienced Nao’s kindness believes and says she’s serious. AS tells Nao that Moon Team will not accept her offer.

  26. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

Hah! @WE, we had the same thought in mind about PAUSE PLAY. As usual now on Saturday nights, my PC becomes slower. I did not get your message but it crossed mine.

I’ve always wondered what the objective of making the setting appear so inhospitable is. The signs on what look like police tape outside say DANGER DO NOT ENTER or CAUTION, and even the inside looks messy, dilapidated, abandoned, uncomfortable… I presume it increases the psychological stress that began with practically ‘forcing’ players to risk millions to enter the game. It’s a game of creating so much stress on top of the lies to weed out weaker-spirited individuals.

In more than one venue, there are drums of fire and it’s not even Winter or the cold time of the year yet – a reminder of the fires of hell? Flaming swords? (This might be related to The Final Stage where there is The Garden)

  27. Noa isn’t idiot in the way she’s able to make perfect calculations here.

  28. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

Sorry, I meant 17 minutes not 46 minutes I was looking at the end time!!

  29. The outside is scary but I find the set sweet. Many colors, beautiful chair, super-screen.

  30. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

@WE, Nao is innocent and naive but not dumb. She picks up how to lie and manipulate too. She’s got a wider picture and aim in mind always. Her image is that of a childlike angel, out to save everyone.

  31. @GB, ok. I am at 17 min now. I pre-watched part of this episode so I am good now.

  32. Then, let’s resume.

  33. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

@WE, that’s the thing. Why is the outside sooooo forbidding but the inside so well done up. Why the big smokescreen and deception even in the buildings chosen… because it’s all a game of deception? I suppose that’s it. Also a psychological game. If one dares to enter, it’s really at one’s own risk.

  34. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

    OK @FF, CONTINUE PLAY!

  35. Yes, we can continue.

  36. It’s really tense now. Only 2 matchs left.

  37. But… ARROGANT Akyama speaks!!! AHHAHH

  38. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

In the face of all the behaviour that is antipathetic towards generosity, mercy, being other-centred, Nao bravely goes the opposite direction, spearheading her own path to save instead of defeat.

Wonder of wonders, AS decides to do as Nao wishes. He looks at her from the game table. However he was also out to test Kikuchi.

  39. 5 cards. WAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

  40. AS always keeps a poker face with a slight frown between his brows. It is difficult to read him.

  41. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

As expected Fukunaga shouts at and blames poor Nao. She really trusted Kikuchi.

But AS says that Kikuchi lost his chance. Now AS will fight back to win.

  42. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

@FF of the whole group only AS really kept the poker face. All the others expressed either deception or their real feelings.

It is when someone believes the other is an idiot that the moment of their undoing draws near. They start to become complacent, underestimating the opponent.

When the opponent starts doing something that is strange or appears to be wrong, one should become more alert.

  43. I wonder if Akiyama can see Kikuchi’s card through the reflection of Kikuchi’s spectacles.

  44. We ear the thoughts of Kikuchi but never AK.

    AK ask for shuffle.

  45. 5 cards again!!!!!!!! MAD MUSIC.

  46. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

Hah! AS has 4 of a kind. He was already manipulating the cards just as they say he’s an idiot.

  47. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

It’s amazing to control the cards because one has to count the number of cards to cut by as well. That kind of mental gymnastics I can never do.

  48. !7 cards are quite countable if the player is familiar with the game.

  49. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

Yah @WE, it’s crazy arcade game music LOL.

  50. @GB, AK is almost super-human here. Gosh, so quick in his mind. Figuring everything. Crazy.

  51. Kikuchi calls Akiyama an idiot again, arrogantly explaining his trick.

  52. Luck?

    Impossible for you
    But for me it’s possible
“thanks to that” knock-knock on the head. 🙂

  53. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

Yes crazy and AS can act like he’s worried. He stays calm in most games.

These people always go crazy with their explanations and taunts only to have their faces slapped.

  54. Such a good reply from Akiyama “I thought you have good eyesight.”

  55. For each card, “Shrrunk” sound. moahaha.

  56. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

@FF Pride goes before a fall. Kikuchi almost lost his sight at the great hand.

Since Moon team would not cooperate, Sun team had to beat them.

  57. I wonder how the writer of the manga didn’t get mad.

  58. Vision isn’t enough.
    You need to work intelligence.

    Wicked smiles for AK
    gniak gniak gniak

  59. Katsuragi crush opponents meanwhile.
    With a weird hat. lol

  60. @GB, Akiyama is so funny he said he followed all 17 cards, that’s an insult to Kikuchi and he said he did not use kinetic vision hahaha.

The sound effects when he said he followed 17cards emphasized the impossible.

  61. The prepare the big duel, showing her overpowerful. 😉

  62. @feifei, it’s the awe line:
“you control one card, I control the whole game”.
    ahahh

  63. @WE, the writer of the manga is already mad before he started writing manga ….

  64. @WE, he controls the game and he told Kikuchi to work his brains instead of working his eyes.

  65. We have reached the end of the episode again. Everything is happening so fast.

  66. He somewhat likes to humiliate opponents. 🙂

  67. Yes he insults his opponents but sometimes his opponents deserved it because they are so cocky. They call Nao “idiot” for her kindness.

  68. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

Yup it’s the end of another episode.

I find that most of the players, when the going is good, go out of the way to humiliate the others. I guess it’s a manga thing?

  69. @GB, maybe that’s a thing with gamblers and liars. Humiliate to feed their pride,

  70. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

Well so fast it’s the end of another rewatch. Thanks for the company!

    See you next week. 🙂

  71. Bye @GB, @WE.

  72. @GB, no because I’ve read mangas like Ajime no Ippo, and they don’t do that.
But ok, it still happen in a lot of mangas. 😉

I wish you a good week.
