Bitch Talk: Glitches on the Blog

Heads-up!

The blog has been acting up for the past 8 hours. It goes off-line for 20 minutes to an hour, then online for 10 minutes then off-line again. Don’t know why.

But it drives me nuts. There are WordPress/Jetpack software engineers paid to manage this platform and fix these glitches. They only have one job, ONE job, I say! and they can’t even do it well.

I’m seriously considering moving to another platform if this problem continues.

For now, if you’re going to post anything longer than 3 sentences, I suggest you type it first on Word then copy-and-paste it here. Otherwise, you risk losing your written word… like I did multiple times today.

I apologize for the inconvenience. 😔

  1. Oh dear, no need to apologise. Not your fault.

    Hopefully it’ll get fixed.

  2. Words of wisdom, @Packmule3. I hope the site is soon whipped back into shape.

@pkml3 thanks for the heads-up and no need to apologise for things beyond your control. I’ve been moving in and out of my home a few times already, therefore I must have been fortunate that the down times were when I was out. In any case, I do try to remember to save a copy of my posts from time to time.

In my office move where Internet is not yet connected, I hate it when my email did not get through and there was no warning why… it took me a while to remember that the reason was that I forgot to re-connect using my hotspot!!! Lost the email of course! Grrrr.

  4. Yes @Packmule3 – thank you for letting us know. How frustrating. [Personally, I have noticed the odd glitch but like @GB been able to get in and out with relative ease.]

It makes me realise just how much I value this community when the site is a bit wobbly btw.

I hope they get it sorted soon.

    Hi @Kate,
I’m glad you didn’t suffer too much with the glitch-i-ness LOL.

About ‘Silent’… I could not resist and started it and once started. I continued. I found it worth the watch. Required emotional investment but the payoff was good (as far as I am concerned). 🙂

  6. Kalimera and let us have a nice month / summer!

So sorry to hear that @Packmule3! I do hope it will be resolved quickly!

  7. Our internet provider is glitchy, so I just blamed it on them. 🤪

No worries, @packmule3. Thank you for the head-up.

  8. @GB,

Sounds promising! I haven’t yet looked at it. I’ll check out an episode over the next couple of days and get back to you.

  9. IT is such a mess. It’s painful but I can’t be angry about that. I’m used to. No miracles.

    @WE and @pkml3
Actually, I’m also linked to the IT world in my work, and I can see the struggle and effort it takes. Now that kind of work is TEDIOUS and I won’t do it, but when I have to get things ‘fixed’ and see how difficult it can be to figure out what when wrong and why, I can’t get angry with the IT guys either.

Something in hyperspace that no human understands or can predict happens… and the code written by humans suddenly does not work as it should. People ask why and it’s often hard to be able to explain, because the fact is no one knows. As long as it ultimately gets fixed, I’m okay with it.
