An Incurable Case of Love: Open Thread

I just learned that this dorama (jdrama) was recently added on Netflix.

For now, the old posts for this jdrama can be found either under its original Japanese name, “Koi wa Tsuzuku yo Doko Made mo” or its alternate English title, “Love Last Forever.” When I have time, I’ll update the categories.

Anyway, this is the drama that started our “crush” on Sato Tekaru.

@Welmaris and @GB reviewed his next dorama, “First Love: Hatsukoi.”

His third dorama, “Why Didn’t I Tell You a Million Times?” was watched by some of you.

  1. This is my number 1 fave dorama. 🙂

I did noticed it on Netflix too.

Sato is still my crush, yes. I enjoyed very much First Love but I didn’t watch his third drama because he was a ghost there. LOL.

  2. “First Love” is still on my To Watch list. I’m traveling soon so I’ll download it to watch on the long flight. 🙂

How are you, @agdr03? Keeping busy?

  3. I’m good, thank you Queen. 😉 I’m trying to do work filing now. How about you? 😃 Safe travels ok.

You’ll like First Love too. It was well made and I love the music on it. ☺️

  4. Speaking of Queens, are you watching “Queen of Tears” next month? Starring Kim SooHyun (My Love from the Star) and Kim JiWon (My Liberation Notes’ youngest daughter).

It has two directors, one director made “Bulgasal” and the other director made “Little Women.”

The screenwriter is the one who wrote “Crash Landing on You,” (rolling my eyes) “Legend of the Blue Sea” (that drama with Lee MinHo and Jun JiHyun) and “My Love From the Stars.”

She seems to have something about “queens.” Her other works were “Queen of Reversals” and “Queen of Housewives.” lol.

Off to bed now. Good night.

  5. Oh I like those 3 dramas that you mentioned. 😆

But yeah what’s with the Queen stuff? 😂

I am definitely watching Queen of Tears because I like the pair but more so Kim SooHyun. He always seems to draw me whenever he has a drama. I enjoyed his last one so yeah, I’m in. 😁

    Good night! ❤️

  6. I just finished this the other day! It was so cute and I’ve developed a new crush lol. Loved his serious face the whole time and his little bit of dom attitude (Netflix translation) when he’s like “Don’t cry when I’m not around” and then kissed her. Like yes sir 😂 I need to find his other stuff too

  7. @Kmaine nee @Kate,

Your post got flagged because you weren’t using the screenname you originally used when you joined in. It’s Kmaine. We have another @Kate here, and she’s British. 🙂

Yes. There were many extremely sweet moments which would have been a disaster had another actor performed them. But because it was Sato Tekaru, he gave the scenes just the right “tsundere” twist. For instance, remember that ice cream kiss? If Hyun Bin (“Crash Landing on You”) did that, he would have made it smarmy. (sorrynotsorry, Hyun Bin fans!) But because it was Sato Tekaru, his annoyance agony in doing a cheesy move was so palpable that the viewers felt a cognitive dissonance when he leaned in to kiss her.

This cognitive dissonance is why we found it thrilling. Since we couldn’t fathom how he could have done such a romantic gesture when he was visibly annoyed with himself, we concluded that he truly loved her. Despite the cheesiness of the gesture, he was willing to go through it. And despite going against his natural inclination, he was doing the romantic for her simply because it was her.

    Here’s that scene from YT.

@pkml3 Thanks for putting up this thread. I will come back to it in the future. I need to stop procrastinating (Lenten project!) and get on with doing what needs to be done. Takeru Sato, will wait for me!!!! 😂☺️😇😉

  9. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

@pkml3, since this is the same show as Love Last Forever, please link up this thread with those with that English title. I almost thought it was another show! 😅🤣

  10. 🙂 Yes, it’s the same show. Sorry about the confusion.

I’ll try cross-link the old “Love Last Forever” and “Koi Wa Tzusuku…” posts tonight if I have time. I don’t know if I’ll re-open the discussion, though, because that entails fiddling around with individual settings.

    Off to work now.

  11. I tried watching ep 1 a while back, but quit because it seemed too much like Itazura na Kiss aka Playful Kiss…and that drama, both the Japanese and Korean versions, annoyed the heck out of me. So can anyone tell me how similar or different the lead characters are compared to InK?

I do love me some Sato Tekaru. My first drama with him was Mei-chan no Shitsuji as a secondary character in love with the FL. That was 2009. The next time I saw him was in the first Rurouni Kenshin movie in 2012 and OMG the difference 3 years made! Boy suddenly turned FINE.

  12. Thanks, @packmule3. A favourite of mine; I was so glad to see it on NetFlix.

  13. Hello! I am watching this too and very much enjoying it! ❤️

  14. @Cleopatra, be sure to watch the extra episode bits that relate to the shrine. It helps the drama to make sense.

  15. @packmule3 and other watchers, on Netflix, I can’t find the epilogues that have the links to the Cat God and her prayers. Are they cut out on Netflix? Or is it just me? The translation is slightly different – perhaps a bit smoother for Western viewers, but perhaps a bit less like the Japanese meaning.

  16. @Fern,

There are no Epilogues whatsoever. I haven’t paid attention to the translation either. Are there any problems?

I am currently in Episode 10, but I haven’t started it yet. Still, I really like Tendo. He is a keeper…

  17. @Cleopatra, I’m sorry that I can’t remember which site I watched the epilogues on. It was when BoD first discussed the drama. Possibly YouTube? Someone on BoD pointed them out because they explain some things that happen in the drama, even though some of the epilogues are a bit silly. I will try to find them for you. Perhaps some other poster can help me out.

  18. @Fern and @Cleopatra, I can’t remember the exact episode too but it might be before she leaves for her overseas training? Not sure ok but I watched it on a streaming site too.

  19. Here you go.

    The epilogues are all there.

  20. @Cleopatra, I can’t find them on You Tube or Viki. I’m not sure where the epilogues are. Or if they were called separate mini-episodes perhaps. So frustrating.

  21. Oh, thanks very much, @packmule3!

  22. Thank you @Agdr03 and @Fern!

I have realized that, I have started watching K-dramas first, then C-Dramas and now Doramas…LoL…

    Endless possibilities… 😜

    P.S. @Fern I have also watched My Happy Marriage the movie… 👌👌👌

  23. Thank you @Packmule3! ❤️🫶

  24. @Cleopatra, My Happy Marriage film. The OTP is fabulous and I liked the 2ML’s acting as well. You know, the ML is handsome but not the handsomest man out there. However his acting is phenomenal. I’m glad you liked it.

  25. @Fern I really liked it and the OTP were perfect for each other.. Now, I want to watch “A trillion game”.

As for the 2ML he plays Nishi here in this one! *winks*

  26. @Cleopatra, he is playing such a different character with Nishi. He is growing well as an actor.
