Ohnoooo. Only seven more episodes left!
And we didn’t get a kiss in this episode. lol.
1. Weiwei brags about imitating Nai.
WW: When I was battling with the Xiao Yu family, it was like you had possessed me. (Meaning, she was channeling his ferocity) I was especially aggressive and didn’t make any mistakes. Now that I think of it, it feels so good.
Nai: Sounds like you displayed 10% of my powers.
WW: That much?
lol. Nai does sound like he’s bragging here but I think that he’s so used to being considered “A BIG BAD MEANIE” that he takes it in stride. But as we see with his dealings with Cao and Ashuang, his anger isn’t out of control.
When he tells her that she displayed 10% of his powers, that doesn’t mean that he thinks her inferior or lousy. I think he only means that even when she’s aggressive, she can never be as mean and wicked as he is EVEN IF SHE TRIED. He thinks that she’s fundamentally a nice person, and not as scheming or devious as he is.
However, she teases him and pretends that she’s shocked that she can even be 10% evil…errr…aggressive like him. lol. “Really, that much?? Whoa! Who knew?”
That’s why he looks at her suspiciously. He senses (correctly) that she’s being sarcastic.
lol. Of course, she looks innocent, as if butter wouldn’t melt in her mouth.
2. Buying the cake
3. Yiran
Yiran sees her friend’s video-recording of Cao complaining about Weiwei “two-timing” him. Of course, she thinks she’s on a mission to save Nai from Weiwei when her ulterior motive is to break them up and get Nai on a rebound. She calls up Nai.
YR: Hello? Is this Xaio Nai?
Nai: Yes. You are?
Remember what Weiwei said was the most obvious response when somebody you don’t know is calling you on the phone?
YR: Hello, Senior. I’m Meng YiRan.
Nai: What is it?
YR: I have something to tell you about Bei Weiwei. Why don’t we meet at a café?
Nai: I’m not interested.
YR: Hello? Hello?
lol. He hangs up on her like she’s some kind of telemarketer. She fumes.
The following day while he’s jogging, he’s joined by one of his parents’ colleagues. We find out that his parents will be away for another month or two. (Yippee! More privacy for the couple!) On his way back from his jog, Yiran waylays him. She’s so proud of herself that she guessed right that he’d be jogging there. But he doesn’t say anything except that he has to go.
YR: Senior, wait! Why did you hang up on me last night?
Nai: Anything regarding my girlfriend, I don’t want to hear about it from a third party.
YR: You wouldn’t be interested in this? (she plays the recording) When my roommate took this video, she wanted to post it on the school forums. But I stopped her because I think that no matter what a girl did in the past if a video like this is revealed publicly to everyone, it would hurt her too badly. But I don’t want you deceived.
I’m sure Nai can see through Yiran’s self-righteousness but he only cares about how this video will affect Weiwei.
4. Inviting Weiwei for breakfast
So he immediately goes over to Weiwei to break the news to her. He calls her from downstairs her apartment.
But once they’re in the restaurant, he gets busy with the laptop, presumably to check if there’s an uploaded video of Weiwei online.
WW: You have something urgent to attend to so early in the morning?
Nai: I’ve to delete some garbage files.
Awww… he doesn’t tell her so she doesn’t worry.
In another part of town, Yiran’s friend wonders what happened to the video. She thinks Yiran deleted them. After Nai’s down with his mission, he closes his laptop and asks about Erxi.
Nai: Your roommate was angry last night?
He can tell because she isn’t eating. Remember? She has a voracious appetite.
WW: You can tell? Erxi usually wouldn’t get angry over this kind of thing. Did the Xiao Yu family do something else to her that was worse? Looks like I was too easy on them yesterday.
I can understand Nai’s position. He was able to delete the video and to take care of the internet side of her problem, AND he doesn’t want to add to her problem by telling her about the video and Cao. However, this video is something she needs to know.
BTW, at this point, neither of them knows that Weiwei’s problem with ERxi is connected to Cao’s video.
Nai: Weiwei, after thinking about it, I think it’s something I should tell you.
WW: What is it?
Nai: Take a look.
WW: What is it?
Video: We’re a couple in the game. But in real life, she’s with Xiao Nai. Does it not count if it’s in a game? If it’s in a game, you can just toy with someone’s feelings?
WW: It’s not true! I don’t know why he would say that. He did confess that he liked me but I rejected him right then and there. I don’t have anything to do with him in the game. How could he make something up like this? This is ridiculous.
Nai: Delete it.
WW: What?
Nai: This morning Meng Yiran came to me with the video. She said her roommate recorded it unintentionally. I’ve deleted the file on her phone and made a copy on my phone. This should be the last copy (thanks to him deleting from the internet).
WW: Meng Yiran? Why would she…
See here. She zooms in on Meng Yiran but Nai ignores it. I think one look at his face told that he isn’t going to say more than that.
Nai: Weiwei, I might be adding to your troubles by telling you this but this is something you’d want to solve on your own.
Weiwei remembers the incident with ANOTHER video created by her ex-husband Zhenshui and his wife to make fun of her. That time (Episode 4), Nai challenged Zhenshui to a PK which he won handily. That time too he explained it the same way “I should have let you take care of this but too many people are following this matter closely, so I thought it was better to take care of it quickly.”
WW: Xiao Nai, I suddenly thought of someone.
Nai: Who?
WW: His name is Xiao NaiHe. Do you know him? I find that ou’re very similar to him.
Nai: Really? I’m not familiar with him. When can I meet him? (cheeky!)
Weiwei takes out her small mirror from her bag and shows image on it.
WW: Right now.
And he smiles and puts hand on her nape.
The reason I like this scene is that he took her side immediately and unquestioningly. He didn’t doubt Weiwei’s faithfulness, even before she protested Cao Guang’s claim of two-timing.
5. Slanders
Later in the car, Weiwei unwittingly tells Nai that this isn’t the first time that Cao’s done this to her.
WW: Send me a copy of the video. I’ll go ask Cao Guang. He keeps me again and again. I’ve had enough.
Look at his face. He didn’t know about this.
Nai: Again and again?
WW: I’m Xiao Yang’s tutor. Last time, he took a picture of me when Xiao Yang’s mother was giving me a ride to school. He suggested that I had an ambiguous relationship with the car owner.
Look at his face again.
WW: Good thing he blurred the picture so it wasn’t clear that it was me. Otherwise, I’d never be able to clear my name. This time, he’s slandering me and calling me a cheater. I really don’t know how I’ve offended him.
6. Partners in crime
I previously said this was one of my relationship goals.

7. Consoling her
The second he’s her walking back to the car from meeting with her pupil Xiao Yang, he knows that something’s wrong. I like that he can read her body language so easily, just like when he realized that she was feverish in the hospital.
From afar he notices her dejected appearance and he gets out of his car right away to meet her.
Nai: What happened?
WW: I ran into Cao Guang outside Xiao Yang’s place. He thought Erxi was me in the game.
Nai: So he thought you were a pair with him in the game.
WW: Yes, I don’t know how hemade that mistake. Erxi really liked Wei Guang in the game. She must have found out that Cao Guang mistook her for me. That’s why she was so angry. It had nothing to do with the Xiao Yu Family. I was completely off. What should I do now? I called her all morning but she wouldn’t pick up.
He reaches for her hand and reassures her.
Nai: She’ll understand. This isn’t your fault.
WW: I hope so.
8. Basketball challenge
hello there! i am a silent lurker of your blog. i enjoy your analysis and highlights of the tv shows you cover but there is something that caught my attention that’s why i decided to unlurk that is….
when was xiao nai and weiwei’s online wedding date???!!! 😁😁😁
hahahaha (the comment section for that episode was already closed)
i know its supposed to be 888 as in august 8,2015, 8pm (although shown in 2016, the series was shot in 2015. chinese drama takes 1 year of post production) and it actually coincide with the auspicious wedding dates for that year. however on the scene with weiwei checking out the calendar in episode 2, the dates doesnt match up 🤔🤔🤔 its showing dates for july, not august.
btw, what the heck they were doing at school?? it was summer vacation.
i thought they were married around april, since its closer to school year end…
Wait! I know the answer to this. 😂
On that little red marriage certificate seen in Ep 30, there was a date indicated: 2016-9-18.
I was surprised bec like you, I thought they’d get married Aug 8 for 8-8.
In the book though it’s different. I just checked it. That whole scene when her friends visited at her and Nai’s apartment took place in June. No dates, just the month.
I didn’t know the comment sections were already closed! I’ll see about opening them for Love O2O when I get home.
Glad you delurked. Will continue writing my highlights. I had to travel unexpectedly and I didn’t get to write anything for Love O2O before leaving. Only for “He’s Psychometric.”
The calendar in Episode 2 seems to show a date of May 23, and the Lunar date appears to be June 8th, and it does indicate on the calendar at the bottom that the date is suitable for wedding
