  1. Howdy! I think that’s an old pic. He has a little bit of moustache now. This is the one that I saw. 😊

    https://www.instagram.com/p/CEBvEt-A0gV/?igshid=h3f57d9tq8ts

  2. Thanks @pm3 for being like a genie in a bottle to our wishes! New thread, new workplace for Jerry and probably new milestone in their so called relationship. Yes @agdr03, the blue suit looks good on Jerry. According to Daly, Jerry believes in feng shui (other sub said geomancy) so the new studio location has a lucky vibe.

  3. Agree with @agdr03, that is an old photo of Jerry. If I remember correctly, it was circulating around the time Meteor Garden was showing.

  4. Was that a trick question? Just look at the hairstyle! 😂

    Ep 16 spoilers:
I wonder how much dialogue I’m missing. I missed the geomancy/feng shui. I remember that in Jerry’s Chic office, everything had to be in certain places and not moved. Also he rearranged XY’s apartment as soon as he moved in.

I liked that he imagined XY sitting in the new studio. But her first visit was the opposite of happy.

Ruru is very angry with Jerry, but even she melts a bit when he asks repeatedly about XY. He can’t keep away from XY, can he?

It’s almost fan service for mannequins, the way he’s fitting that dress. 😅 Then we have his torso as seen through the translucent window on her door, his study of XY sleeping and some fuzzy focus on his face. I think the last was rather too obvious but it was a satisfying scene to explain how Jerry feels about XY when she’s not aware. Ha, his way of taking her temperature was so funny. Tendo would have called him Baka.

  5. I couldn’t watch the latest episodes at Yoyo English channel here. Kissasian, dramacool and koreandrama.es are available so I also get surprised with different subs @fern.

Whenever Jerry work and touch the mannequins, my mind would suddenly think something else🤓😜🤐 Ha ha ha Tendo would definitely call his attention the way he checks XY temperature, but that’s cute.

  6. I was shocked when Jerry slapped Daly after he asked him if he likes XY. 😱 He’s showing his Meteor Garden characteristic is he? 😂

He even threw Daly’s mobile phone but I bet it was after he sent to himself the picture of him and XY kissing. 😆

I did like that he did help XY with putting her pattern up and even at the event itself.

    Wu Meng, arrghh! 😡

  7. Yes, that slap seemed out of character. I would have left.

Does he leave a little signature whenever he works on a dress? I wish I knew what the symbol meant.

Wu Meng needs to be fired or arrested. Who let her into the event? Scary mom Lu? I would like to know how the fire started. Wu Meng was already spotted before the dress was loaded. Surely the fire services would check to see if it were arson or accidental as lives could have been lost?

I empathised with the ex-girlfriend. I hope that she doesn’t go over to the dark side.

  8. @Fern, I have a feeling ex gf will go the dark side. 😒

I’m not sure about that symbol on the pattern but was it just an X in a square box?

Yeah, the fire was too much of a coincidence. especially with Wu Meng there. I can’t believe she’s still there really 😂

  9. Same vibe here that Jerry’s ex is another Wu Meng with an envious character. There’s no hint yet but I feel that the ex-gf has something to do with the fire since she got jealous when Jerry was helping XY with the dress after Wu Meng made that awful scene.

  10. Hi 👋🏻 😊

Just finished episode 18. How can things go right when there’s three witches in Ye Mang’s anniversary event? 😒

I liked that Jerry said that he missed XY too but she wasn’t listening because she’s drunk. 🥴

If there’s one thing I’d miss in this show it’s definitely Jerry’s voice and his muscles whenever he wears that black tshirt. 😂

I thought he looked cool/handsome in his black shirt and red suit but he was wearing white sneakers 😁

  11. If you haven’t watched ep. 18 yet, then spoiler alert.

I appreciate seeing the mutual respect that flows between XC and XY’s parents. I believe XC is sincere when he talks with them and says he wants to take care of their daughter. It’s not quite asking for her hand in marriage, but moving in that direction. Marriage isn’t just between two people, but two families, and it bodes well that Jerry likes his potential in-laws and they like him. Also, XY’s parents have been forthright in telling XC that they’d like him as XY’s husband and he hasn’t disabused them of that notion.

It does bother me that XC has been speaking his heart to XY only in whispers when he thinks she’s not alert and listening. If he loves this girl, why isn’t he shouting it from the rooftops and making his feelings clear to XY herself?! But then, if XC and XY weren’t locked in angsty miscommunication, I suppose Writer wouldn’t have enough material to stretch out this drama to 34 episodes.

I hope the character of Wu Meng is written out of the story from this point on. How many crimes does she need to commit to be prosecuted? As it is, she’s been caught red-handed in slander, theft of intellectual property, and sabotage. Her retaining her position at Yange is not believable: does Writer think we’re that gullible? In a real-life situation, I could possibly see giving Wu Meng a second chance after the first offense is revealed, but she should have been booted from her job (at the very least) after the second. Not doing so could leave Yange open for liability. But then, I’m looking at this from my perspective in the USA, and know nothing about laws in China that would relate to these matters.

As for turning Ye Mang’s 30-year-anniversary celebration into a venue to play out a personal vendetta, Ye Mang’s “friend” Cheng Peiyu is self-serving, callous not only toward XC but also Ye Mang, ruining the actress’s big night. How can someone so lacking in empathy, so selfish, so insecure have raised a delightful son like YZ? And if Papa has always been as inattentive to YZ as CP accuses him of being, he wouldn’t provide a good example. Was YZ raised by the hired staff, then his good character set during the ten years he studied away from home?

The other question I have about YZ’s parents is the source of their wealth. They live an opulent lifestyle, and have the money to start up a business with lots of employees in a large workspace. Office real estate, even rented, in central Shanghai is some of the most expensive in the world. YZ’s father is a renowned professor, but do professors in China make a lot of money? Did Lu Ren marry into money by taking CP as his wife? Did CP marry Lu Ren to gain status and respectability? Is YZ even Lu Ren’s biological son, or had CP already given birth to him before marrying LR? I suppose we’ll find out…

  12. @Welmaris, I think Jerry is not confident yet in shouting his feelings for XY or he really is just waiting for the right time even if he is totally honest with her parents. I do love that he always makes time for them ☺️

Yeah YZ’s Mum is a total fake friend of Ye Mang. 😒 Thanks for reminding me that this drama has 34 episodes. I totally forgot 😂 I think it’ll be awhile yet till Jerry and XY get together. As it is, I don’t think she remembers telling him that she likes him. 😬

  13. It could be an arranged marriage for Lu-Ren and Cheng Peiyu @Welmaris. Some Chinese families do this to protect the family business or expand their assets.

Episode 19 confirms our earlier hunch… with Cheng Peiyu and YZ caught by surprise as well as minion Sara Lin. Their evil plot for Jerry turned out to be their own bad karma.

  14. @Eureka, yes it seems that an arranged marriage is a possibility. Lu Ren seems like a weak person, always escaping to avoid problems. I wonder what the real story is behind Jerry’s mother and him? SHE may have dumped him before he married and told him never to interfere, so the only thing he can do is support Jerry invisibly. It looks like he admitted paternity in an interview, however.

Wow, how is Wen Xi suddenly the most maturely perceptive character after seeming so frivolous? I have a theory but it seems a departure from normal dramas. 🤭

  15. Ep. 20 is another one that can cause whiplash from choppy editing, but it is nice to see the story progressing and some of the angst laid to rest. Have Sarah Lin and Cruella DeVil, I mean Cheng Pei Yu, finally been defanged? I sure hope so, because I’ve grown weary of the storyline of them trying to discredit and slander XC.

In the past few episodes, I also grew weary of Mu Yang and the wannabe girlfriend relating to XC only from the perspective of their own interests. Mu Yang confronts XC immediately after XC’s life has been turned inside out by a secret laid bare publicly, and Mu Yang is feeling hurt because he wasn’t in on the secret? MY, you’re only thinking about yourself there, buddy! That’s not what friendship looks like. And how about that wannabe girlfriend unilaterally deciding that it is in XC’s best interest for that secret to be spilled. When she talked to XC later, she showed no remorse for having revealed private information that had been entrusted to her. She also vows to stick to XC wherever he is the rest of his and her life, no regard for XC’s feelings on the matter. He was clear about friend-zoning her and not living in the past, but she refuses to hear that message and is entering stalker territory. XC needs to cut her off completely, because he has all the signs that their relationship is now toxic…but 14 more episodes need to be filled, so I’m sure she’ll stay in her antagonist role. We probably haven’t seen the last of Cheng Pei Yu and Sarah Lin for that same reason, darn it.

I loved how XY comforted XC at his lowest: she found him, sat down next to him, and kept her mouth shut until he was ready to talk. Then she didn’t try to tell him what he should think, feel, or do. She listened, validated his feelings, and told him to take his time sorting his thoughts. And XC made it clear with his words that he understands his relationship with XY is the healthiest one he’s got in his life, right now.

And hooray for Daly getting the recognition he deserves! XC was still jerking Daly’s chain, but Daly did hear that XC trusts him and recommended him to the President.

  16. @Welmaris, when XY found Jerry, that was a good scene! You are right; she just let him work through his thoughts, memories and emotions without making useless suggestions or lectures. And he expressed his appreciation of her.

I think that the 4 witches are still around. This includes Wu Meng, who should have been out on her ear far earlier.

I think that Mu Yang was shocked and his feelings hurt. He was wrong and Wen Xi let him know why. I think he’ll shape up with her help.

Yes, hurrah for Daly! But I don’t want to see him in a normal suit, please.🤣

  17. Daly is the man! 😂👏🏻 He’s been there for XC the whole time so it’s great for him to be the acting editor in chief now.

I’m getting annoyed with ex JY too 🙄 I cant believe she was the one to spill the beans but she didn’t have any right whatsoever.

Yeah the witches will stay because we need to go till episode 34. 🥴

I liked our casual talk and XC opening up finally about his past. It’s a good sign. What about that sandwich though? 😂

  18. @Fern, Daly has the most fun wardrobe of this whole drama, doesn’t he? I love his shirt selection, and he doesn’t seem to repeat outfits the way the others do. Even YZ is wearing some of his clothing again.

  19. Yes, about Daly’s wardrobe. There was one scene in an earlier ep, where he’s sneaking around. The front of his shirt was reasonably plain but the back was a loud spin on a Renaissance painting. 🤣 Subtle, no. Perfect.

I like that the President of CHIC understands Jerry. He needs someone influential in his corner.

@agdr03, yes it would have been interesting to see Jerry’s reaction to the sandwich.

@Welmaris, the editing is so strange, it’s like they chopped 10-15 crucial minutes out. The jump from the scene at Jerry’s childhood home to back in the studio with wannabe girlfriend was strange. Why was XY hiding from him? And of course the sandwich to mention just a few. 🤣 Harrumph.

  20. @Fern, I gathered XY to be hiding because ex gf told her to just leave Jerry alone. I thought the last time they talked, Jerry walked out on her and yet she’s still there. 😄

This must be the drama where production aspects like clothes/costume and editing is most questionable especially because it’s a fashion industry theme. 😬

But I won’t complain with Jerry wearing the red / blue / white suits, black and white tshirts all throughout the drama. 😆

  21. My guess why they keep on repeating the outfits is that the production staffs want to save some time in filming the scenes. Either they are low on budget, actors availability for the shoot, covid19 related concerns, and so on. The way they repeat most of the clothing is too obvious not to notice! Those casts with less exposure in this drama could wear more fashionable and with no repetition except for Daly . He’s got a lot of scenes but his shirt selection were nice.

  22. @agdr03, I would have thought that XY would have more confidence in what Jerry told her than what the ex JY said. Frankly I’m surprised that Jerry let JY in his studio when he made it clear that he didn’t want to dwell on their past. Edited out? Plus, he doesn’t trust her after she deleted calls and texts from his phone. Why is he so patient with her? I would have made it clear then: none of her business; private; never again. Etc
Why would he trust her to take XY home? I would have called a cab.

@Eureka, I accepted Jerry’s limited wardrobe while he was living out of a suitcase at XY’s flat, but surely he has access to his full wardrobe now, so you must be correct about special circumstances to do with filming or Covid. Sarah Lin and other characters have a large wardrobe, though.🤨

  23. @Eureka, you’re probably right with how they filmed this series with time constraints plus covid. I’m pretty sure this was filmed this year only as I saw it on my Instagram feed.

@Fern, I agree about ex JY. She’s never treated XY any kindness since Jerry told her that he thinks XY will be a very great designer. We can call her thick skinned. 🙄

  24. I watched episode 21 and I didn’t even realised that Mu Yang and Wen Xi was dating already 😂 Maybe I totally missed it? Silly me. 😁 Anyway I thought it was a nice proposal for them.

I’m just 🙄 at ex JY. Jerry needs to spell it out for her.

  25. @agdr03, you didn’t miss it…we were shown limited interaction between WX & MY. The speed at which their relationship escalated surprised me, as well. I don’t get the impression they know each other well at all.

  26. There doesn’t seem to be any obvious passage of time except the segment about designing the actress Ye Mang’s dress when XY crossed the days off her calendar. I thought that Wen Xi and Mu Yang had only recently started dating having first met at the 00000 fashion show he hosted. The logic and editing seem pretty low standard compared to some we’ve seen. But it’s still enjoyable.

  27. Thank you @Welmaris. I’m glad you corrected me. ☺️

@Fern, that was what I thought too, that they’ve been dating but just started.

But yes it’s still enjoyable. I wonder what will happen to Yange after the scandal. Maybe XY will be the one to bring it back to the top.

  28. I have insomnia, but I’m hoping to watch the next episode at breakfast.

  29. @agdr03, yes to ep 22 for breakfast and a skim of 23 untranslated. ❤️👍🏼 It looks interesting! I’m shallowly happy this morning.

I liked Bao’s line, “Look at how you’re pouting; you can pull a donkey with that.”

I’m confuse about something. Didn’t XY offer to design a dress for Wen Xi? But Wen Xi chose one off the rack at the shop? Fabulous dress, mind.

  30. Glad you’re happy @Fern! 👋🏻 Yes XY said she’ll design her wedding dress but WX chose to wear something from the rack at the wedding shop. 🤷🏻‍♀️ I just watched it now. The dress itself was nice but because WX is so thin it’s almost down to her waist 😱😬

That is definitely the way to get Mu Yang to wear the suit that Jerry made. Not! 🙅🏻‍♀️😆

How cute was Jerry when he kissed XY on the cheeks and sat like a bad boy with chair backwards next to her AND revealed that she said likes him. 🥰 And then it was like her mind suddenly remembered it. 😂

  31. I think the off-the-rack wedding dress was only used for the wedding photoshoot. When WX was at her makeup table on the wedding day, she told XY that she loved the wedding dress, which I took as her complementing XY on her creation. The dress she was wearing on her wedding day was also off the shoulders, but seemed less heavy at the top.

CYLS dived into slapstick in ep. 22 with the fight between XC and MY. Watching it, I wanted to quote Crown Prince Lee Yul (100 Days My Prince), “Is anyone else uncomfortable here?” But I was amused by the changing reactions of the three girls watching, from concern to pride to entertainment, the last with teacups in hand.

  32. Spoiler for episode 23.

I’m getting very annoyed with witch JY. I think those scars on her back maybe related to Jerry? Not sure. But she used him against Yange. 😏

I’m glad Jerry and Mu Yang are bff’s again. 😁

There’s something about Jerry’s smile that’s getting to me. It’s hypnotising me. 😂 I was just smiling the whole time with the scene with XY when he gave her the latest fashion book and when he was leaving. 🥰

  33. I told you Jerry is mesmerizing. I don’t want to start watching CYLS before finishing up with “Love Lasts Forever” because he’s going to be in my head the whole time. 🤪

  34. 😂 yeah that’s it, he’s in my head 😂

I have to finish episode 10 of LLF too so I’ll do that tonight.

I did make notes on the close ups too. I’ll send it tonight as well. There’s a few so just go through them for me when you have time. ☺️ Thanks 😊

  35. By episode 24, I should be familiar with how Jerry reacts especially when he doesn’t like the person he’s talking too but no. 😆 The times he chucked the proposal folder was just childish 🙄 I know he has reasons but seriously.

Ex JY is just evil and desperate now.

I liked the scene though where Jerry asked XY to repeat what she said when she was drunk meaning that she likes him. But she said the other ones which was that he’s an arrogant a— and inconsistent who talks the talk but doesn’t walk the walk. 😂

  36. I’m smiling too as I read how you get mesmerize by Jerry’s charisma @agdr03 & @pm3! I got countless scenes now of how he’s facial features just fit well in front of the camera! Even if we noticed some wrinkles and minor blemishes on Jerry’s face (comparing to most Korean actors who look so perfect) he’s still that admirable.

The ex-gf’s indeed a Cruela De Vil and she’s like a leech keeps on sticking with Jerry. XY’s not aware that Jerry has been trying some distance from JY so she felt inferior.

  37. I believe that ex JY was in the accident with Jerry and his mum. There was a scene shortly after she appeared in this drama when he asked her something about it. Sorry, I can’t quote an episode. My impression is that she was badly injured and in recovery for a long time. I think that this may be why she gets away with a lot with him, he not only feels guilty about his mother but about her as well. He could destroy her but repeatedly chooses not to and I think she is using this like emotional blackmail. In trying to take XY down, she’s harming many others as well. Jerry is trying to do damage control so it’s hard on him. I’ll try to locate the scene.
I noticed also that Jerry never drives.

  38. Ep. 24 spoiler:

Jerry’s little smile after he made XY jealous! 🤩
Unfortunately, ex JY sees it and understands what he’s doing. Has she not noticed how Jerry never smiles for her? @agdr03 called her thick-skinned and I agree with that and more.

Bao is pretty cute. Why doesn’t Ru-ru see it?

  39. @Eureka, I can’t even see him not handsome anymore. 😱😆 Even when his angry. I’m like 😍

@Fern, you’re right with ex being in the accident with Jerry and his Mom. They had that conversation while they we’re in the car.

A jealous Jerry made me want to think of ways to make him forgive me. Wait, I’m not XY. 😂

Doesn’t Bao look like a young Jackie Chan? He is good looking too especially with that shirt that he had on today. 😊

  40. @agdro3, yes when JY is driving Jerry away from XY’s flat in Ep 15. Jerry said, I would miss the past if that accident didn’t happen…’ and he asks about her injury.

I looked up young Jackie Chan and found many images. Have a quick look at Jaycee Chan’s photo. He is the son of Jackie Chan and looks even more like Bao.

Ep 24 was the jealousy episode. Wu Mang doesn’t want Wen Xi to keep modelling, Ru-ru and Bao go back and forth with being jealous as do Jerry and XY. Then there’s ex-JY who’s in jealousy overdrive. So melodramatic!

  41. In fairness to JY, she’s well-dressed and always walks with confidence as if she’s someone popular! You guys’re right, it’s jealousy overload in that episode. Let’s savor the remaining episodes coz I would miss Jerry after this drama. Still couldn’t believe why I didn’t watched any of his projects after Meteor Garden.

  42. @Fern, you’re right, Jaycee Chan looks more like Bao. 😄 I don’t understand too why Ruru doesn’t get that he likes her but then again I think she’s never had a relationship before?

Agree! The jealousy was melodramatic 😁

@Eureka, you’ll make time now for Jerry’s other dramas after this one right? 😉

  43. @agdro3, I don’t know. Perhaps Ru-ru was thinking of Bao as a friend but had some other type in mind for a boyfriend? Better job, richer family? He is a successful restaurant owner who has a captivating way with noodles. 🍜😁 But her jealousy is revealing. 😆 It’s only a matter of time… I think he should hang out with another lady briefly to get her to realise his worth.

  44. @Fern, the noodles in episode 26 looks so yummy. 😋 Now I’m getting mixed signals from Bao. I think both Ruru and him doesn’t realise that they do like each other. Or they just need more time.

I want to be XY with the scene of confession or confirming that Jerry and her are finally dating. 😍😍😍

DON’T GIVE ME JERRY IN A PASTEL PINK LONG SLEEVE PULL OVER SHIRT WITH WHITE PANTS!!! I CANT HANDLE IT!!! 🤪Waaaaaaaaaa! 🥰🥰🥰

  45. @agdr03! Can you imagine Jerry saying your full name the way he says “Tong Xiaoyou!” And he looks like the big bad wolf, doesn’t he? Yeah. Ahem. A big bad wolf who looks pretty decent in pink.

I’m feeling sorry for Bao’s helper. He’s getting all of Bao’s diverted temper. Those noodles looked awesome, though.

Comeuppance time for JY. You can only mess with Jerry and Jerry’s people so much. He’s protecting his brother now, too. 👍🏼❤️

  46. What episode are you on, right now?

  47. @Fern, if Jerry is the big bad wolf, I’m happy to be his fat little pig for dinner 🤪😂 Ooohhh don’t make me imagine him saying my name 😈 the whole scene and dialogue just made me squeal! 🥰

JY was totally floored by not knowing about Lucky Clover! So good! 👍🏻

  48. @packmule3, I’m up to date on ep 26, like agdr03. (Subbed yesterday but I like Jerry at breakfast.)

    Where are you?

    @agdr03 🤣🐷🍖🐺

  49. Jigsaw puzzles have been used in this drama to symbolize relationships.

When they were young, MY would give XC a completed, framed puzzle for his birthday every year. XC complained he was denied the fun of putting together the puzzle, as MY did it for him. And that’s how MY is drawn as a character: in his relationships, it’s always about him. He’s forever harping to XC, even since youth, that he doesn’t feel fully accepted as a friend. He wants XC to prove his friendship: make me your model, make the outfit especially for me, give me the outfit so I can wear it to show off to others how special a friend I am to you, etc. He needs regular doses of affirmation according to his dictates. I can understand why XC withdrew from him during a time of extreme emotional stress, as MY would only add to that stress. He’s a taker, not a giver.

We see MY also approaching his marriage relationship with WX the same way: me, me, me. Without discussing it with her, and knowing her desire to continue modeling, MY quashes WX’s career opportunities because he thinks she needs to be a stay-at-home wife. He relents on this issue, and WX does get accepted for the Fashion Cup, but we’ll see whether or not he has more tricks up his sleeve to subvert her dreams to his own. Writer, we need more redemption here. He’s not a bad character, but he’s terribly self-centered and selfish and needs awakening.

The puzzle that XY and YZ start together shows they work comfortably as a team. But XY continues the puzzle on his own. He’ll be able to successfully assemble his life without her by his side. The one piece YZ gave XY to keep so she could put it in at the very last, she returned to him. She does not complete him. We get it, Writer…

  50. I wondered what the words were on the puzzle piece that XY returned to YZ. Does anyone know?

  51. Ep 27, graveyard argument, falling out, tears, evil ex-gf. Very emotional episode. Our favourites end up arm in arm, but the last scene shows trouble ahead. Cue melodramatic trembly music. 😈😆

(Is it really that easy to access private records?!)

  52. Now that Jerry and XY have finally admitted their feelings, it gave XY some rights to help Jerry moved on from the bad memories of that accident with his mom. That’s emotional indeed, Jerry crying hard, and it relieved him somehow.

@Fern, I guess that public records was retrieved only because Yanzhi is a VIP so it’s all about powerful connection. Regarding the puzzle piece, it seems like not a word but that final piece is a kind of design which will complete the puzzle to reveal the artwork.

@agdr03, yes after this drama I would remain Jerry’s fangirl but I can’t find any of his official social media. Maybe they’re not allowed to have in their country?

  53. XC does seem to attract women who want to interfere in his life, doesn’t he? WX wanted to use him to further her career. PY wanted to destroy his career and reputation because of toxic jealousy. JY thinks she knows him best in the present because she shares a past with him, but her perception of XC is filtered through her own needs and aspirations. I suppose XY is different than the others because she’s prods XC toward change from a place of love. She’s correct that XC needs to deal with his emotional wounds and open up to her if their relationship is to be a healthy and long one. That said, I think she overstepped his boundaries by investigating his mother’s death through the insurance company. That’s a violation of privacy, regardless of her admirable motives. It may have all turned out for the best with XC opening the floodgates and letting his feelings of guilt run out, but he could have instead ended up rejecting XY for being so pushy and resenting her for the rest of his life.

One of the things I’ve noticed about Jerry Yan’s acting in this drama is little motions he does that look very natural. It makes his scenes look less staged. He’ll scratch an eyebrow with his index finger, sniff, fiddle with the necklace, etc. I especially thought it effective when he had his mother’s ring in his teeth while the NOTR crew was trying to interview him about the father theme of the next stage of the design contest. I wonder if that was an ad lib on Jerry’s part. Having the ring in his teeth reinforced that he wasn’t talking, and brought back to our minds his mother, who raised him alone, and that even she was taken from him because of the accident.

My first thought when the theme was announced is that XC should use XY’s father as his inspiration. But on reflection, I hope he uses his mother as inspiration for the father theme, because she had to be both mother and father. She, and other loving single moms like her, deserve to be publicly honored for filling that role courageously.

  54. I agree @Welmaris with the way XY went to get information regarding the accident of Jerry and his Mom. I know he doesn’t open up easily but still I felt off too when she went behind his back. But she got him to open up about the whole thing and got him to join Fashion Cup so ok. 😄

@Fern, sorry I was in lala land with Jerry as the big bad wolf 😂

I want to say this with regards to episode 28 too, TONG XIAOYOU!!! How could you not kiss Jerry when he even had his eyes close??? Hmmmp! 😤

  55. I’m still trying to decide if I’m going to let myself be lured into accepting XC as a worthy match for XY despite this drama pushing hard for the two of them to be the OTP. What bothers me is XC’s not telling XY that he believes she’s a talented designer when he’ll say that to others. To XY he’s still condescending, speaking cruelly, although she usually lets it slide off her back like water off a duck. She knows she still has much to learn, so why does XC belittle her efforts instead of giving constructive criticism? Being judgmental and making XY defend herself are signs of a toxic person; I don’t think it is cute behavior at all.

I also don’t understand what advantage it is to XC that he withholds from XY the reasons he likes being with her, but will list them for the wannabe girlfriend to hear. What kind of mind games is he trying to play? I know what the writer is trying to accomplish: keep XY off balance from lack of confidence, and spur jealousy in JY so she’ll continue to be an antagonist (since others have been knocked out of that role). I don’t blame Jerry Yan for the faults in his character, as I think he’s doing a fine job with what he’s been given in the script (although he does tend to mumble). But if I learned my daughter was dating someone who was respectful to me but frequently spoke to her in a derogatory manner, I’d be concerned.

  56. @Welmaris, I know what you mean about XC being borderline cruel to XY. She does call him on it sometimes, like when her dress was burnt, but other times she seems to be able to read between the lines. WX explained to her that in the presence of reporters, XC would actually be protecting her. But there are times when he really overdoes the negative comments.

I agree that XY acted poorly in the case of the insurance files. Even if it worked as a catalyst, I was cringing because it seemed so invasive. It wasn’t even completely effective because it didn’t reveal to XY that JY was involved in the accident. did it?

    @agdr03🤣. 🐺

  57. I’ll have to agree with the attitude of Jerry’s character in this show. Sometimes I’m like why can’t you say that to XY since your together already? 😬

We’re almost at the end of the drama so let’s see if he’ll change at all. I did noticed the rumblings as well. Is that his own adlibs? 🤪

  58. Episode 30 was about brothers trying to get to know each other and finding out that both of them don’t really know their Dad at all.

YZ is so ❤️ in this episode but I’ve had it with JY! 😤

Oh finally Ruru and Bao! ☺️

  59. Are we on the home stretch now? Two more episodes?

  60. Yup, 3 more episodes and that’s it.

One things for sure, I’ll miss Jerry 😍😍😍

  61. Yanzhi is a sweet brother to Jerry, he keeps on reaching out to him despite Jerry’s bad temper. YZ can be a better lover to, it’s just the brothers got the same taste.

  62. @Yanzhi, if I didn’t know Jerry at all I’d choose Yanzhi over him as a boyfriend. 😊

  63. @Eureka, sorry 😐🤦🏻‍♀️

  64. How about this, @agdr03?

She can have Yanzhi. We’ll take Jerry.

    That’s a fair deal.

  65. Oh XY having Yanzhi instead?

    Deal!!! 😍😂

  66. Yes, Yanzhi is very persistent in reaching out to Jerry. But he’s not our bad wolf. 😆🐺

I like the ‘nice guy’ can’t remember his name who loves XY’s cooking. I thought it was cool that he acted as a middleman for Jerry and Yanzhi.

@agdr03, I’ve had it with JY, too. I wish I could respond as logically and civilly to people like her. The thing is, her actions are starting to backfire publicly. She has few friends there, no support for her plans and I’m glad.

  67. Off topic.

Oh my word, the entire 1/2 dressed city rugby team had just passed in front of my car as I’m waiting for my daughter to finish her training at the sports complex. 5 of the crammed into a little red car like clowns in the circus.

  68. 🙂 Nine months ago, Fern, I would have laughed at the sight.

But now, the first thought that entered my head when you mentioned them all squashed in the car was: “Were they all wearing masks?”

Covid really shades our perception nowadays, doesn’t it?

Anyway, I remember those days. Driving home with stinky boys after a game was horrible. I would have the windows rolled down. But it was worse when they were playing in the rain and mud. Hurray for leather seats!

Gosh. I miss those days. And I miss the trash talking that came with post-game euphoria.

  69. These weren’t boys but big stinky men.

Yes, I thought that too. They should have been masked unless that group forms a particular ‘bubble’ like housemates,

I enjoyed the show, though. Nearly as pleasant as Jerry in the tub.

  70. Of course. We drool over muscular men. lol

Did you see that actor playing Jin in “Dating in the Kitchen” flex his muscles as he closed the bathroom door in Episode 2 at 28:37? lol. He was just closing the doors!!

I’ll post a screenshot on the thread.

  71. I’m still far behind the rest of those who are commenting on ‘Dating in the Kitchen’ but yes. We could say that he looks after himself well. 😁

CYLS is dipping into melo territory with the number of parents being ill. Maybe I’m just impatient, but it seems like the director is stretching things out.

Yanzhi is one of the more worthy 2nd leads. I feel that he is bravely confronting his demons one after the other. It makes me wish for a happy ending for him.

  72. In episode 30 when XC and YZ spend more time together onscreen, I realize how good the casting is. They do look like they could be brothers. I first noticed it when they have scenes where they’re standing nose-to-nose and can look each other in the eye because they’re of similar height. And look at these cheekbones.

  73. @Welmaris, I thought that the young adult Jerry actor looked very similar to Jerry, as did the young adult MY to the adult MY. And they did credible jobs, too. I wonder how that sort of casting works – put out a casting call for young Jerry lookalikes on social media? @packmule3 and @agdr03, can you imagine the lineup? 😁

  74. Awww our big bad wolf made me cry in episode 32 when XY’s Dad was telling her things he wanted to say incase he dies 😭 Tears were falling fast.

  75. @Fern, I agree that the young Jerry did a great job and even the young Mu Yang ☺️ Oh I’d like to take a peek at the line up for young Jerry 😉

@Welmaris, thanks for the brothers picture. 😍 They are both handsome indeed.

  76. I’m not sure how I feel about the fairy tale ending. It was sweet, melodramatic and wrapped up the story with all villains recognising their faults and retreating.

Because I’m shallow when it comes to this actor, I would have preferred something that made my heart race in the last scenes.

I liked that XY chucked a spool of red thread to Jerry in ep. 33.

  77. @Fern, I’ve seen the ending too and I thought the speeches of XY and ZC was nice and I did have a tear when Jerry looked up and said Mom but he couldn’t continue then because he got emotional.

I would have liked more scenes from our couple too and a few more kisses but I guess not meant to be. We didn’t see Daly and YZ’s Mom anymore too.

But overall I was happy to watch Jerry. He made it so worthwhile for me. 🥰

  78. I’m with you, @agdr03. I’ll miss Jerry in the mornings. I’m just laughing that @packmule3’s ‘click bait’ photo predicted.the drama’s use of that footage so well. 1st episode then nada. 🤩☹️🤣

I have a feeling that DitK will be somewhat the opposite. At least I can hope.

I’m not sorry to leave YZ’s mother behind. In my imagination Daly is busy being the new permanent editor of CHIC, but yes, he should have been there to enjoy the moment.

  79. Thanks to you guys, I could enjoy Jerry again after 20 years and already missing him. Happy ending, with a lot of emotion on stage with our couple and somehow things were put with some order.

  80. All done. Count Your Lucky Stars was an entertaining watch, even if it wasn’t of high caliber in terms of production and writing. In these stressful days, being distracted and entertained for a few hours is a good thing.

Much as I’ve come to appreciate the actor Jerry Yan, and I was rooting for our lead couple to get together, I would not nominate Lu Xing Cheng for our Best Boyfriends Hall of Fame. I did not appreciate his trying to build Tong Xiao You’s confidence (or so he claimed, at the end) by belittling her intelligence and designs. Even during his speech at the Fashion Cup Final, where he spoke eloquently about love and how it informed his design, XC couldn’t stop himself from getting in some digs about the woman by his side: “Today, on this stage, the model wearing this dress [XY] may not be the most professional, nor the prettiest, and neither have the best shape. And even when I look at her, I feel like there’s a look of misfortune on her face. But now, for me, she is the most adorable!” Let me correct it for him: “Today, on this stage, the model wearing this dress…when I look at her, I feel…she is the most adorable!”

I find it interesting that XC won Fashion Cup with a dress that had on its bodice structural elements reminiscent of the bodice on the dress for which XY received five zeroes when she competed on Next on the Runway. She helped design and create the Eternity dress with which XC won the Fashion Cup, so it isn’t plagiarism, but I would have liked to see her get more recognition for her part of bringing Eternity to life beyond modeling it.

  81. Well said, @Welmaris. Perhaps I’m hard-hearted, but I was hoping for something with some, but a little bit less, emotion for his mother and more sincere appreciation of XY without whom he would neither be designing nor standing on that stage. His backhanded compliments made me think ‘Darcy in reverse’.

Good catch on the bodice. I didn’t notice that.
