    EPISODE 7

It was hilarious! I chuckled more than I should. The beginning was slow but it became better once Bora got drunk (again).

LOLOL… I thought it couldn’t get more embarrassing than falling over and showing one’s underwear to the audience, but it can!!!

I really like that because Su Hyeok has seen her in all her downs and worst moments, they can actually speak to each other a bit more honestly… at least it did sort of start being honest until the next BIG embarrassing thing!!

What a role for Yoo In Na! I wonder if she was aghast when she read the script or tickled pink and just had to take on this character?

I’m almost afraid to say, I hope that’s about the last most embarrassing thing, but then, I also hope the writers have come up with more scenarios that make us both laugh and cringe.

Bora should really realise by now that drinking and being drunk is not her friend. Not only does she have alcoholic gastritis but practically at every occurrence of her being drunk, she makes a fool of herself. Prudence and wisdom are not, it seems, within easy reach.

I really enjoyed all the expressions that Yoon Hyun Min was able to pull together when dealing with the incorrigible Bora.

    EPISODE 8

    SPOILERS

I really liked this episode and it’s not because of the ending…

The gathering of all the protagonists in one place was well engineered. The unplanned house-warming party gave the would-be couples more opportunities to get to know each other. Even the married couple gets highlighted.

I found the way Bomi got together with Jin Ho to be wonderfully refreshing. What might have been a deal-breaker event turned into the opportunity for them to clearly state what they wanted. It was such a great way to start dating: they communicated so that decisions could be made, and there were no uncertainties at the beginning.

The scene of Bora demonstrating the art of seduction was highly instructional to me LOL. It was mersmersing. I actually was on board with her idea about the last impression a person makes at a breakup. And we get the first hints that she’s gotten under Su Hyeok’s skin, whether he insists on denying it or not… and boy was there a lot of denial.

Following that was the really good breakup scene. The dialogue was well written. I liked everything Bora was able to say to Louse. He gets to feel a bit more, what he has given up. Do I see regret in his eyes?

While I liked the karaoke scene for the chance to release pent up emotions, I felt it was unwise for Su Hyeok to act on them. It seemed to be more in the heat of the moment and likely to lead to more issues with work.

Nevertheless, the episode sure ended on the kind of cliff-hanger that gets one climbing the walls, wondering what happened next.
    😬 🤔 😫 😄

    EPISODE 8

    SPOILERS

    Smart writing in Show

The power of suggestion. Twice Bora made suggestions to different men that would get them thinking of her. First she tells Su Hyeok that although he scoffed at her attempts to ‘seduce’ him, he would think of her later …”Maybe not now, but you’ll think about me before bed.” And he does.

Later she tells Louse at his favourite restaurant, that he should not leave his naengmyong meal to see her off… “If you leave any, you’ll regret it. You’ll think of it before bed. … That would be too late.” We know of course that she’s not speaking of naengmyong but of him leaving her. I’m guessing his enjoyment in naengmyong at that restaurant will be forever blighted now! LOL. What effective revenge and done so sweetly with a smile and good wishes!!

At the end we see that Bora actually succeeded in her ‘seduction’.

Yoo In Na is so winning in this!

  6. Hi GB!!! Thanks for sharing your thoughts on this drama! Looking for something light-hearted and this is the one for me!!

I loved You In Na in this role.
When she Deborah…she is oozing with confidence and creativity… She is not just any influencer..she was sharing some scientific theories about brain remembering the first and last impressions before sharing her strategy of rewriting her last impression with her ex. …
When she is drunk, her crazy antics are hilarious… she is in her own world and her thoughts are uncensored and she has no qualms sharing them!! Haha

I thought the trope of ML going shopping with FL is cleverly written. The dialogue is witty; Looking for a Dress with WOW factor is defined as seeing FL moving in slow motion. Deborah teasing Soo Hyuk with slow motion movement when she spotted his car was hilarious.

I did not see the meeting with he ex as a seduction. Now that you mentioned it. I will rewatch it again.

Thank you for your sharing. It has increased my enjoyment in watching this drama. 😁

    Hi @Anna A
I’m very glad that any nonsense I write adds value to anyone’s watch.

I’m sorry, I misrepresented where the seduction was…I meant that the seduction ‘demo’ in front of Su Hyeok really worked on him by the end of the episode. LOL.

No, her interactions with Louse were not meant to be seductive, but rather very sweet, yet sober, extremely reasonable with a hint of warning that he was going to regret what he had lost/given up/failed to appreciate. The sweetness was to leave a cloying memory and last impression that would stick with him. I think it will work!!! Let’s see in the future episodes whether Louse will turn up again and try to wriggle back into Bora’s good books.

Yes I liked the shopping-cum-makeover trope. Instead of the guy dressing up the girl, she lugs guy around to be critic while she dolls herself up. It’s intriguing that she describes the killer dress to be one that makes it looks as if the woman is moving in slow motion. What a great visual hook!!!

This hook too, worked with Su Hyeok. He actually asked if she had deliberately walked in slow motion when coming out of the changing room LOL. So she did intentionally walk in slow motion later on the road and got honked at LOLOL. She’s so cute.

I’d like to know if Yuri really did have a new boyfriend so soon after the breakup or if it was just a pal of hers. I’d like to know Yuri’s point of view and whether she was broken-hearted about breaking up with SH. I feel that the SH-Yuri relationship should still be properly resolved before we can root for SH-Bora.

One of the reasons I feel this way is that the advice of everyone to SH was that he should still have taken out the ring for Yuri and given her the chance to understand that he was serious. She could have changed her mind. Because the fool, SH, never took out that ring, we’ll never know if him being serious about Yuri would have made a difference. I sort of think it would have.

When Yuri discovers that SH is with Bora, I imagine she might feel betrayed… as if Bora had advised her to break up in order to grab SH for herself.

Anyway we have 8 more episodes for more angst and twists (and opportunities for Bora to make more of a fool of herself). I’m sure complications arise at once with the serious episode-ending kisses. 😋 😝 😉 😇

  8. Annyeong GB!!!

I have misunderstood the part you wrote about suggestion to be seduction! Bora has successfully “seduced” me too!

When Bora’s calm and sober self is in charge, she does have a way with words and I really liked how she broke up with Louse. It was according to how she imagined it to be and leaving him to regret later. I really hope that he will come wriggling back to her good books. It will be so fun to watch.

Agree with you about Yuri and SH. I also thought that if he had given her the ring, it would have made a whole lot of difference. Yuri was unsure what their relationship meant to him. I thought her saying she has another bf was a lie, trying to test SH.to see if he is serious about her. There needs to be a proper closure,if any, for the two of them.

I was actually quite surprised at the ending! Haha. SH who is so careful with his words and actions would actually act on his impulse! It leaves me wondering if it is because he had many refreshing experiences with Bora that made him behave in this manner. So I am really looking forward to see how SH-Bora relationship develops from this point.

“See” you again after Wednesday episode. 😁

  9. Dear @GB, sorry for the long wait. Bo-Ra frustrates me to no end, so I am still in Episode 7, around minute 52.

So far I have a very perverse experiment to ask you, @Anna A and @PackMule3 if you want to participate: let us imagine that the boys in this show are your sons, your brothers or nephews, the girls paired to them come in a Holiday as guests… and they kind of behave pretty much like they do so far… would you be pleased with their choices in partners?.

Of course let us imagine now that the girls are your daughters or your sisters or nieces, and do the same with the boys. It is an interesting exercise not to be blinded by “chemistry” nor by the hand of writer-nim and director-nim but ask us where those character dynamics would lead us if they were real people.

Sorry for taking so long. Really like FL’s friend (so far she is a good one) and her husband even more. Loved the ManCave and hope she gets that he needs a space to retreat to. Would be lovely if she knew all this time he had this sanctuary but decided to respect his space.

  10. Was eventually able to watch episode 8 and started episode 9. I don’t know why I am not trapped by this Drama even if I think it has some decent writing. I guess I don’t like the main FL (even if I love Ms. Yoo In-Na so much as to almost finish “Secret Hotel” back in the day).

    EPISODE 8

Funnily enough, Bo-Ra followed my idea in the Post before this, saw Part-Timer’s crush for what she was not knowing it was her own sister. That kind of made my day 😀 .

BTW What Bo-Ra and her friend did to Part Timer, even if it was well-intended, was abhorrent. If someone asks for your advice you give your best shot. If you think that person might succeed in getting into an unfortunate situation it is your duty to tell that person what you see. That kind of ruse could destroy trust.

  11. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

@FGB, I heartily agree with you. The Bora character leaves much to be desired. A much flawed, immature character in some ways, and surprisingly wise in others. I guess like a normal human with some kinds of conflicting traits.

  12. @GB We are all like that, we can a lot of valid points to add when speaking about other people’s issues but once we lose our objectivity we are doomed and we don’t follow our own advice XD XD XD XD .

Is there anything to watch that you can recommend?, objectively this show has a very smart writing but I am not head over heels.

  13. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

    @FGB, hmmmm recommendations?
Will time travel, serial killer investigation be something you don’t mind watching? If so, join @pkml3 and myself on the kdrama: “My Perfect Stranger” thread.

If you don’t mind a psychological ‘battle’ sort of show, try cdrama: “Echo”. It’s different. It’s not a pure police investigation show… more an expose on marital relationships and betrayal. There’s no thread for this here as no one has asked for one.

I have not properly started this next show yet but it has a good review, it’s cdrama: “Oh No! Here comes Trouble (2023)”. Genre includes Mystery, Comedy, Supernatural. It’s just 12 episodes long. There is no thread for this on BOD as yet.

I’m starting on another series to rewatch this Saturday, jodorama: “Liar Game Season 2”. You need to be able to roll with the manga-style, deliberately over-the-top acting, the garish colours, the stylised look and feel. The end is satisfying.

If you like a light, slightly comedic action-fighting sort of show with not much of a plot, try “Tale of the Nine-Tailed 1938” with @Cleo and myself.

Let me know if anything tickles your fancy! 🙂

  14. GrowingBeautifully (GB)

Hi @pkml3, please open the next thread for Bora! Deborah Ep 9 and 10.

The ending of Ep 9 was so hilarious I watched it twice through and more slowly just to catch everyone’s expressions and I couldn’t stop laughing. Now that’s what I call a stupidly, awkward situation for everyone to be in.

It’s comforting to know that there are several foolishly awkward people or rather many awkward people, some of whose foolishness is worse than our own!!

  15. For now I can’t read you, as I just ended ep7. It’s a blast!!!
    Many good scenes.
First, the writer stole an idea from me (did he or she read my script?) about beer instead of alcoohol. Anyway the silly FL still put soju in this when she was diagnosticed with a problem with alcoohol in her stomacth. AAaah. Really, she’s SO…

The pee scene: ok that was a “FL got drunk” situation until now.. But… Aaaaah in the bus, so gooooood scene when she says she want to pee.
But just do it anywhere situation. Well as a man I could say it happens often when drunk but more difficult for women, anyway she does it and………
… the stream of pee coming in the ML shoes.
    OMGGGGGGGGGGG…. I couldn’t believe THAT. Even in a kdrama.
I had a big lol here.

Then this situation is taken in a conversation in a restau as a dog peeing here.
She talk about “destiny encounters”. Which is true, she don’t always say crap. However, sometimes it means nothing. It happens with Army Guy and Sister. Of course. Nothing wrong here, but the sister is a girl hard to catch (as much as she’s cute).

Other great situation, and a great scene about acting: when she begs for a work (with famous Trump citation). But after, we get a flashback about how the scene was set-up and understand why the two men was in a so awkward position at the beginning. Good use of flashback.

  16. Middle of EP8, this line:
“You moved in slow motion on purpose?”… 😀

  17. I’ve read the comments, making I don’t have much to say about ep8, you said it all.
The party scene at home with the dialogue about a “girlfriend” but nobody know who it is, except the guy and Bomi. What makes of course bad words for Bomi.
Some nice words too, when Borah friend make enter the army guy, she says first he’s a cute boy. Then only after that, Bomi sees it’s him!!

There is a funny situation when friend husband ask her to take a shower… would think it was the sex date of the month but not. The drama finds many way to speak of couple about many hidden thematics we don’t have in others dramas. For this couple, it’s now rare to have sex or even kiss, but they don’t live that so bad. Her friend have an expression for that (but I forgot, need to rewatch).

Borah seduction scene… seems cliché, but works well anyway, causing him trouble to find sleep. She even said he would think about that before to sleep. ahahh. She still have some competences.
