Thanks @pkml3! Yes the Daylight Savings have to be factored in… if AI is right then my 10:00 PM Singapore Time (SGT) is 7:00 AM PST (Pacific Standard Time).
Also 10:00 PM (SGT) on any given day is 10:00 AM (EDT) on the same day in Eastern Time, while EST is one hour ahead of EST so that would make it 11:00 AM???
EDT includes major cities in Canada like Toronto, Montreal, and Ottawa during daylight saving time (March–November).
I trust we are not too confused! 😅🤪🤓🥸😇☺️
Morning @GB, I am often completely confounded by time zones and I apologize if I inadvertently caused anyone to question their own realities. In the US I believe there were still a handful of states 40 years past the first broad introduction of DST (after WWII) who still refused to implement it…ensuring that I am never sure about any other state, bec I am so old…
So yes, now on the Eastern Seaboard of the US we are on DST and it will be 10am here when you tell us “NOW!” I think it is the same for toronto.
In the dark days of winter I have to get everything done by 9:00 real time here, since the sun rises later than in DC, in Massachusetts I may complain a bit more than others then.
But now everything is peachey.
Also on the peachey side, I also see that Yoo SeungHo will actually take a guest role (?I think thats the category) in a second season of a cop show, Flex x Cop (per an mdl article).
Oh, and @GB, on the cdrama as casual entertainment, I feel that I have reached a milestone as a newbie in cdrama watching when I can keep up a shortform cdrama on the side without much thought, just casually for fun.
Glory in Shadow, a 15min per ep; Qing era girls-trapped-in-the-murderous-great-noble-household-like-rats-in-a-cage saved by a good husband sort of show.
Hi @IB, I’ve decided to just stick to my own time and let all the poor souls who have to change time twice a year figure it out on their own. I’d just confuse them all by trying to change my time to suit. I confused myself!!!
I don’t think you confounded anyone other than yourself and @WE LOL! He’s another one who does not even know when the Daylight Savings kicked in for him.
Well congratulations on becoming almost a cdrama veteran! The short dramas seem to go for some ‘neo-gothic’ themes now and then. Catch you in an hour’s time more or less!
Hi @WE and @GB, ready…
Hi @IB, 3 minutes more by my clock… I have to confess that I never cared for the ‘cute girl’ in this show. But I see her again now in Yumi’s Cells 3! She’s got a less tiresome character there perhaps, so I like her more with Yumi than here.
I also confess that I’m feeling sleepy but I’m determined to stay awake and to also catch Perfect Crown after this party!!!
OK @IB, we can start NOW!!!
ambitious!
Hi GB & IF
@IB, Na U is such an annoying sort in the beginning over the cat. She practically stalked JH to his home.
Oh, Han Ye Ri is voicing BG. Such a mellow voice!
Hi @WE.
JH and BG curl up to sleep. I feel like curling up too.
@GB, I care for the girl!!! She’s cute and cheerful in a way I like. She’s my darling now! 🙂
recap — that “I promise that she wont” to the grumpy neighbor — so old-school. Identify yourself as a man and as a part of a fictional corporate entity where you can ‘take responsibility’ for someone lower in the hierarchy.
The two of them dont have a close relationship but just by this act he has actually moved closer to her.
We get introduced to the characters a conflict causers… Jin Seong can’t just keep his mouth shut but has to crow over his success, when he only succeeded by plagiarising JH’s work.
Next will be the sour, faut-finding bookshop owner.
@WE, I’ll let her be your darling as long as you don’t insist that she’s mine. Heheheh!
Good friend, Hae Gong now sees that JH ‘has a girl’ but she’s NOT his darling Heheheheh!
@IF, you mean this pretty couple is in real a “fictional corporate entity” ? :-D:-D:-D
I must note that on my list of jokes. ^^!
JW throws her out of his apartment, but notice she is treating him as if he were a cat too. In my experience, with a little cheerful and consistent persuasion any kitty can be won over.
It will take much more time to win over my ginger BG!
But both boy and cat will start off saying no but end up saying yes.
@WE, sorry I let my internal running monologue take over for a minute there. Later on corporate entities ok?
So BokGil isnt very sick? Or the ‘cold’ is a sign of something more serious? She definitely can climb up but not down. Her bones ache?
And off goes your darling to find out what’s happening with someone who’s merely an acquaintance. I find that intrusive but that’s the kind of interest she has in the cat, I guess.
The vet knows and likes Na U.
BG can jump, lol, it’s not that high for a cat.
The cat is sick, so it’s serious, it’s a BIIIIG drama!
😀
I guess BG is older in health than we can tell. A bit of fever and she cannot jump down? But this is a foreshadowing.
Here, it’s obvious Wan is interested in NaO. 🙂
Looooove triangle! (or square with the cat)
“Hey, my snack!” Not again! Silly JH always flying out of the house. I like their long conversation, good face-acting by the cat. He talks to her as if she were a real person and he isnt wrong about her feelings, but she peevishly, cattily, talks past him a bit..
@GB, ah yeah, she later has another sickness about her legs?
He never meet her during years while they live next to each other, but now he can’t make a step without meeting her. 😀
@IB I kept feeling bad for BG. She missed her meals then her snack because of an owner who keeps running off.
@WE, were JH and your darling neighbours? She had been sick for some time. He never met her.
Jin Seong is another tiresome character.
@WE, GB — such short segments, I start laughing at one of your remarks and then I am so behind!
Glad to entertain you @IB! I’m trying to stay awake!!!
The crazy fans.. “oppaaaaaa” ^^
All the conflict comes along in the beginning… no time to write, sick cat, horrid boss, unpleasant rival, and now raised rent to pay.
@GB, yes yes yes, I love to get a JS in a drama.
Ahahaha!!!!
+ he makes JW a slave because it’s in his boss library.
Booohooooo…
I agree with Hae Gong about JS — unto the third generation like all good curses.
Then JH shows some maturity –‘well he must know something’/if he keeps making hits.
Oh no then the rent is being raised!
I’m sure it’s not legal to raise the rent of such a price.
Cute girl keeps crossing the line in the beginning … too intrusive and doing too much when not asked. She becomes better later.
BG faces temptation in the form of an open door.
@IF: the boss of the fictional corporate entity can’t let his employe to pay the vet instead of him. 😀
But NaWoo is just what silly JH needs, isnt she? Someone who can read beneath the actions to the loneliness and good heart. Someone who can ignore stuff.
And of course she knows how to win another girl cat over. Nice bell necklace. JH, ‘she doesnt like stuff like that’, well you never gave her something handmade and so cute…
@WE, spot on!
A new drama will happen now: BG has disapeared!! 😀
A level of drama close to “Penthouse war in life” in its own style. ^^!!!
I love everything about BG’s wanderlust moment!
She is so tempted, her face, and then her cute fluffy butt disappearing behind the door.
Oh, my BG! Dont do it!
@IF, yeah, you’re right, JH would ignore any girl even if he likes her (because of his past trauma), so he needs a sticky girl like her!!
@IF, orange cats can never resist about doing something stupid. 🙂
The song playing, ..’no way, if I can never see you again’..sadly, in the middle of his desperation, with overlapping..what is that photographs?
So it was short! I wish you good week.
Finally I’m watching Yumi Cells s3 on air.
Maybe I’ll come back to comment. It’s a nice drama, and only 8 episodes, but also, I can feel the concept is now overdone, so it’s better it’s short and the whole story concludes soon.
Bye @WE! See you @IB.
@WE, yes conceptually its narrow, but it makes me smile a lot.
Good actors for the supports: Lee El and Kim Min Seok. The bookstore owner is a gem too.
Bye @WE, @GB!
See you next week.
Just a note for @WE
By fictional corporate entity I didnt mean a personal relationship.
I visualize the fictional world of kdrama with its economic anxieties and corruption,
as situated in a society where the social safety net is tattered.
That society is structured by a fictional set of very large ‘corporate bodies’ ranging from real chaebolic corporations to the old ‘family register’ idea of a large extended family unit.
The only protection against disaster is to obtain, accept or maintain a place in one of these structures. In the case of disasters like the IMF or the war, the entire Korean nation is that body. Many unfair or unjust actions can be contained within this body when measured against its longterm protection of individuals.
But for the understanding of outsiders (fans of kdrama), this concept contextualizes all sorts of social rituals which enact social solidarity without restricting freedom of speech.
Age hierarchies (vertical structures within families), gestures of deference, age-classes (horizontal connections between families), all kinds of particular Korean interactions make sense to me this way.
@WE cont.
I took JH’s promise to the neighbor that ‘she wont do this again’ as a ‘taking responsibility’ gesture that middling juniors do to protect a subordinate from an older person’s wrath.
The whole story of Imaginary Cat is so individualistic that this gesture of JH’s stood out like a sore thumb.
Who is he/JH to promise that NaWoo would not do something in the future?
And why did that promise work so quickly without needed explanation, to calm down that neighbor guy?
Because it removed the girl from the category of random subordinate being in the street, to the category of a person who belongs, who has people to back her up.
Why was it weird? Because JH doesnt belong, he doesnt have family to back him up.
@IF, thanks for the explanation, it makes lot of sens that the neighbor calm down with that. It could be a tactic from JH, but I think more he’s this kind of classic and serious guy you often see in kdrama. We feel it as the way he’s with other people.
Mmm. Yes, I think the line could have been better without the ‘I promise’ part. Then he would just be saying he is on her side.
But anyway, it was hysterical when you thought I was talking about love or dating as a fictional corporate entity. I laughed myself silly too. There is a kernel of truth in there.
@IF, oh no, it’s not that. I just took it as a good and funny line! No jugdement about that.
